Provolone a la parrilla (grilled provolone) - $12. Tasty treat, don't try to eat it solo because it's decadent.
    Will H.

We came here with another couple to celebrate my fiancée's birthday and had a great time. Among the plates ordered were: -provolone a la parilla (grilled provolone). -2 orders of the parrillada solo del carne (big assortment of grilled steak cuts). -beef and chicken empanadas -2 bottles of séptima Malbec (their house wine at $35 a bottle, it's cheaper than $10 a glass if you're in a group or a volume drinker). -some arroz con frijoles, yucca fries, and plátanos. I had an espresso shot to cap off the evening. But then the waiter brought us all a round of shots of whisky, pineapple, and I forget what else. They were really good, but I'm glad we only did one round of those! It's not cheap, but if you go for the grilled with steak only, you get 5 steaks for $72. These days that is a lot of meat for the money, as you see in the photo. The fact that the steaks stay on a hot grill as you eat is both a blessing and a curse. If you like it very rare as I do, I don't like how it keeps cooking. But, it does stay hot. Just take whatever cut you want off the grill asap and eat it if you want it to stay jugoso. For us, the cut with la bandera argentina was the best: buttery, flavorful, fat cap at the bottom that's easy to cut off. The cut that looked sort of like a hanger steak (flap steak maybe?) was a little tougher and not as flavorful. Still not bad. They have a full bar and a pretty good dessert menu. If you're into organ meats, there is tripe, tongue, kidney and sweet breads. Also blood sausage. None of that is my thing but it's nice to have choices. If you aren't a meat eater, there are the typical Argentine-Italian offerings like pizza and pasta. Unfortunately I've yet to visit Argentina, and Long Island is chock full of pizza/pasta purveyors, so I doubt I'll ever try these at El Gauchito 3. Maybe the Argentine spin on them is a bit different? I'd be remiss to not mention their seafood offerings too. Grilled octopus, frankly I forget what else. If you're familiar with RVC, you know parking is a pain. We showed up at 6 pm on a Thursday and got the only open table, many groups had reservations. It did look there was seating at the bar though. There really is something for everyone here and you won't leave hungry or disappointed. That's the beauty of El Gauchito. I'm sure we'll be back.

Parking here is always a hit or a miss considering the location. Service is always excellent and the food is always tasty. The only downside I don't like is that when you order the parrillada , if you don't eat it fast enough the meat gets cold. Even though it sits on what looks like a warmer , it's not consistently kept warmed. But their skirt steak entree is always a simple go to as well.

Feeling bold about your next dining choice? Look no further than this rare gem, El Gauchito 3, an Argentinian steakhouse in heart of the South Shore of Long Island. Having dined at El Gauchito 2 in Queens, I expected the same quality and service at their newest branch. It didn't disappoint. The ambiance imparts a casual dining experience with its modest storefront and interior space. Noise from piped-in music and 2 large parties celebrating birthdays was medium level, not to the point that it's hard to carry on a conversation. Let's get to the reasons one should try this restaurant - food and drinks. We were greeted with complimentary warm bread and provolone slices stuffed with ham. That they were delicious made it more of a welcome surprise. We started off with an amazing cocktail called Peach Fire. For appetizers, we picked mussels in garlic sauce and grilled sweetbread (in plain English cow's glands), both definite crowd pleasers for their exotic, complex flavors. The friendly waitress recommended the 3 meat plate which my wife and I ordered. It turned out to be the star of the night. The short rib, skirt steak and sausage were perfectly grilled, brimming with that fresh off-the-grill taste. A side order of tostones complemented the rich taste of the meat. We did not try any of the desserts that were featured in a very expansive menu. We are excited to return to this fine establishment and explore the remainder of the menu. It deserves its rightful place in my regular rotation of dining options!

I went about a month ago. Im so glad a place like this opened up in RVC. Everything was delicious. The fresh juices are a must. Unfortunately I didn't get a picture of the one I got. They serve huge portions and the staff is very friendly but was very slow. Maybe it was because they had just opened. Regardless, I will def be going back

Argentine cuisine is a blend of influences from the Italian and Spanish immigrants with its chief national product, beef. They say the reason Argentine steak is so good is that its cattle graze on the country's plentiful pampas grass, rather than being grain-fed as American cattle are. The result is leaner, more flavorful, and more nutritious beef. One such establishment is on Moonachie Road in Moonachie, where my partners, our friends and I decided on Saturday dinner. Reservations were easily made via OpenTable. Upon entering this cozy, modern interior of Tango Steak as first-timers, we were greeted by the host and got a table right away. We were here 3 years ago when it was El Tango Argentina Grill. The vibe has completely changed. It's now darker and louder, not family-friendly. Music was at a decent volume and does seem to increase as it gets later, giving it a lounge type. As an appetizer, we started with Beef and Chicken Empanadas as well as Calamares (Calamari). For our main meal, we decided on the Extrana (Skirt Steak) with Mashed Potatoes & Chimichurri Sauce and Tango Burger accompanied with Fries. Food was good, not awesome. Our appetizers were tasty and well seasoned. The Skirt Steaks tasted fantastic with the Chimichurri Sauce. The Mashed Potatoes had a nice texture. However, some of us asked that their Tango Burgers be made medium but came out well done. The Fries were salty and very dry. Our service was horrendous, but our server was Nathaly who was accommodating and apologetic. Some of us had gotten their appetizer faster than others. The duration between our appetizers and the main meal was an hour. The food was not cheap given the portions received and the 20% gratuity added automatically to the bill. With insult to injury, their valet attendant charged $5. Definitely not what we expected, which is why we sadly can't recommend this place.

That was enough for us to decide we will not be returning. I have been coming to this restaurant for over 25 years. The food has generally been good, which is why my family continued returning and recommending it to others. Our history with the restaurant has not been without issues. Years ago, we stopped coming after a Mother's Day incident involving my grandmother. We had been seated in the upstairs dining room (when it was still open), only to later be told by the owner that we did not have a reservation and that we had to leave. After several years, we decided to give the restaurant the benefit of the doubt and eventually started coming back again. Unfortunately, today confirmed that the earlier incident was not simply bad luck. I was dining with my parents. We ordered two steaks, two appetizers, three sides, a bottle of wine and later a second bottle (of which we only drank half), along with four after-dinner drinks, cappuccino, and dessert. It was clearly a very busy day, and service was slower than usual. Because of the restaurant's pace, our meal ended up lasting a little over three hours. We were patient the entire time and never complained. After we finished eating and were simply finishing our drinks, the owner, Marcelo, approached our table and remarked that we had been there for three hours and were now only drinking alcohol, indirectly suggesting that his establishment was not a bar but a place for dining. Considering that we had just spent several hundred dollars and have been customers for decades, the comment was unnecessary and unprofessional. We immediately asked for the check and left. For context, I am a physician and understand the pressures of demanding work environments. However, professionalism and respect toward customers should always come first. Over the years, my family has typically spent between $300 and $500 per visit here. Unfortunately, after this experience, this will be the last time we come. There are many excellent Argentinian and Uruguayan steakhouses where customers are treated with appreciation and respect, and that is where we will be going moving forward.

That's what happened to Jamie W and me, and we knew finding an early dinner in the Theater District would be a challenge, especially one we had not tried before. This Argentinian steakhouse popped up, and we braved a rainstorm to get here for a 5PM reservation. I wasn't surprised to find out it's part of a burgeoning Florida-based chain because it had that slick vibe about it with staff that appeared punctilious. Not that it was a bad thing since we were on a schedule, but we just felt a certain remove that other restaurants manage to avert. Our table also seemed to be in the middle of a heavy traffic flow as people appeared indifferent to brushing against the back of my chair. Just small things but worth pointing out. The bread basket arrived almost immediately, three rolls carefully counted for the two of us, I'm sure. The chimichurri and salsa were welcome alternatives to the inevitable butter pats (Photo 8). That was enough carbs for us. Jamie went to the sea for his entree and ordered the $36 Fresh Char-Grilled Salmon Filet accompanied by a Mixed Salad. Nicely tender if rather unadorned on the plate with only a grilled lemon half for company (Photo 4). Even though I'm not a heavy duty carnivore, I felt a need to order the $42 12-oz Certified Angus Skirt Steak, medium rare, since it is an Argentinian steakhouse (Photo 9). Good choice because it was pleasantly tender for such a fibrous slab of beef. Since I also ordered the salad, my plate looked a bit naked except for a sprig of rosemary. We shared the $12 Grilled Vegetables made up of slices of eggplant, squash, onion, and red pepper (Photo 6). We were well on our way toward satiated, but the food was served with such time efficiency that we had time for dessert. We decided to share the $13 Warm Apple Galette with Vanilla Ice Cream, Almonds, and Caramel Sauce (Photo 5). I even topped myself off with the $5.95 Cappuccino to prepare myself for the storm outside (Photo 7). By this time, the place was packed, but we weren't hurried to leave. They gave us the gift of time before the show.
