This has been my favorite Argentine restaurant for over 10 years. I am so happy you opened in Long Island because now I do not have to travel to Corona and deal with parking anymore. I really wish you would open a butcher shop here too. Long Island does not have a good Spanish butcher, and that is one of the things I miss most about living in Queens, the amazing food and butchers. Life really came full circle when I got to bring my 10-month-old son here, and he loved everything . The food is always so fresh and full of flavorful. The morcilla is rich , creamy and perfectly seasoned( they make the best morcilla I age ever had) and the empanadas are my absolute favorite with their flaky golden crust and authentic homemade taste. The meats and sides are just as incredible. The Russian potato salad is creamy and refreshing, the potato with parsley has that perfect balance of simplicity and freshness, and every bite of meat is tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The chimichurri ties it all together with bright garlic and herbs that make every dish pop. Thank you for staying consistent all these years. The food is always seasoned perfectly and made with care. I also love that you still serve the free appetizer of fresh bread, cheese, salami, and tomato. It is such a classic touch and still one of my favorite parts of the meal. read more

We visited today and ordered a few appetizers to start. After that, we wanted to share the mixed grill platter for one person, which is listed on the menu. However, we were told that we were not allowed to order it and had to get the platter for two instead. The food was ok, but it was disappointing not to be able to order the portion size that was clearly listed on the menu. It would be nice if customers were allowed to choose the serving size that best fits their appetite. And for that reason we won't be back. read more

We came here with another couple to celebrate my fiancée's birthday and had a great time. Among the plates ordered were: -provolone a la parilla (grilled provolone). -2 orders of the parrillada solo del carne (big assortment of grilled steak cuts). -beef and chicken empanadas -2 bottles of séptima Malbec (their house wine at $35 a bottle, it's cheaper than $10 a glass if you're in a group or a volume drinker). -some arroz con frijoles, yucca fries, and plátanos. I had an espresso shot to cap off the evening. But then the waiter brought us all a round of shots of whisky, pineapple, and I forget what else. They were really good, but I'm glad we only did one round of those! It's not cheap, but if you go for the grilled with steak only, you get 5 steaks for $72. These days that is a lot of meat for the money, as you see in the photo. The fact that the steaks stay on a hot grill as you eat is both a blessing and a curse. If you like it very rare as I do, I don't like how it keeps cooking. But, it does stay hot. Just take whatever cut you want off the grill asap and eat it if you want it to stay jugoso. For us, the cut with la bandera argentina was the best: buttery, flavorful, fat cap at the bottom that's easy to cut off. The cut that looked sort of like a hanger steak (flap steak maybe?) was a little tougher and not as flavorful. Still not bad. They have a full bar and a pretty good dessert menu. If you're into organ meats, there is tripe, tongue, kidney and sweet breads. Also blood sausage. None of that is my thing but it's nice to have choices. If you aren't a meat eater, there are the typical Argentine-Italian offerings like pizza and pasta. Unfortunately I've yet to visit Argentina, and Long Island is chock full of pizza/pasta purveyors, so I doubt I'll ever try these at El Gauchito 3. Maybe the Argentine spin on them is a bit different? I'd be remiss to not mention their seafood offerings too. Grilled octopus, frankly I forget what else. If you're familiar with RVC, you know parking is a pain. We showed up at 6 pm on a Thursday and got the only open table, many groups had reservations. It did look there was seating at the bar though. There really is something for everyone here and you won't leave hungry or disappointed. That's the beauty of El Gauchito. I'm sure we'll be back. read more

Parking here is always a hit or a miss considering the location. Service is always excellent and the food is always tasty. The only downside I don't like is that when you order the parrillada , if you don't eat it fast enough the meat gets cold. Even though it sits on what looks like a warmer , it's not consistently kept warmed. But their skirt steak entree is always a simple go to as well. read more

Noise from piped-in music and 2 large parties celebrating birthdays was medium level, not to the point that it's hard to carry on a conversation. Let's get to the reasons one should try this restaurant - food and drinks. We were greeted with complimentary warm bread and provolone slices stuffed with ham. That they were delicious made it more of a welcome surprise. We started off with an amazing cocktail called Peach Fire. For appetizers, we picked mussels in garlic sauce and grilled sweetbread (in plain English cow's glands), both definite crowd pleasers for their exotic, complex flavors.The friendly waitress recommended the 3 meat plate which my wife and I ordered. It turned out to be the star of the night. The short rib, skirt steak and sausage were perfectly grilled, brimming with that fresh off-the-grill taste. A side order of tostones complemented the rich taste of the meat. We did not try any of the desserts that were featured in a very expansive menu. Something new and exciting opening up in RVC means I'll be checking it out - For a Saturday night this place should have been packed, it was pleasantly full but by no means crowded. I don't have any rave reviews about the food - I ordered a sampler platter type dish - sausage and two steaks. My dining partner ordered a breaded steak entree. Both were fine. I recall the sausage being particularly flavorful. The bartender seemed to be pulling double duty as waitress ? That is because they were short staffed or because she's in charge of taking the payment ?? It was odd and my friend was quite miffed. He will not return. I might because I want to try the empanadas. Overall I think the kinks need to be worked out, staff was too relaxed and the lady behind the bar was overworked. read more

We come here at least once a week. The food is so good, and the staff is so friendly and helpful. We love the empanadas, the Argentine Grill for 2 (medium rare), the potato's provencal, plantains, & the rice & beans. The poached pear & crème brûlée desserts are also delicious. But today- I finally made it to the closer RVC location and it is a hit. The service, ambiance and food is outstanding. It was a quiet early afternoon and everything was delicious. was there last night with my guys for christmas dinner and the service was so Bad they only had 2 people taking the entire place I was served by guy at the Bar . He couldnt handle it Order 3 parrilladas they take over an hour to bring it and he forgot one . By the timme they got the 3rd we ware ready for dessert .. i have to get the bottle of wine my self or wasnt gonna be able to enjoy the parrillada with a nice glass of cabernet Salad with no dressing , never came to ask if we need it anything . Dined here on Saturday night and was unimpressed with the quality of the meats. Very low quality cuts of beef and lacked flavor. Service was also friendly but entrees came out minutes after getting our salad and starters. Empanadas were given to us complimentary which was nice as well as salad for our table. Appreciated that but the timing of the food coming out needs help. I like the decor and as said the staff was very friendly but I don't recommend this place as the short ribs, chorizo, black sausage and ribeye were not good. Very few reviews since relatively new place but expect to see the overall rating begin to drop. Spoke to a bartender down the block who said the food was great when they first opened but he had returned recently and found the quality has dropped and had a similar dining experience as we had. Too bad as we all wanted to like this place but too many better choices in the area. read more

One of the best restaurants in town! Tirso is very nice and friendly, and the food here is fantastic. We love the parrillada solo de carne, and highly recommend it!
