Best Omakase I've had in a minute. It was great. The Chef was amazing and the pace of the meal, which is important, was perfect! The dishes were easily palatable for even beginner sushi coinsures. The staff was great, and attentive. Kept our glasses and bellies very full. My only complaint if there is one, is that I would have liked my last dish in the middle. I will not ruin it for others who haven't gone, because the surprise is part of the fun. But if I had to pick an order, I think a heavier bite would have been savored more midway 3/4 through the meal, with a fresher (zesty) bite at the end to cleanse the palate. All in, 9 out of 10. Definitely sit at the bar for the Omakase experience! They could build up the decor a bit more, but it's a new spot, so give it time. Seriously, sushi chef knows what he is about. If you like Omakase it's better than most quality NYC spots. Will be repeating. Super nice to have something that fun and high quality in town. read more

The decor was modern. Sushi chef serving Omakase. We opted into ayce. The restaurant also offer Al Carte service. The was smaller for an ayce restaurant but the fish was very fresh. The fish didn't have that frozen taste. The service was excellent. Beyond excellent. Servers were going from table to table. Must sure you get a reservation. Excellent service and very clean. we had the AYCE sushi and were so delighted. Please note when you order the special rolls they are not a regular amount they give you 4 pieces which is enough to satisfy anyone for a roll. My husband liked this and said it prevented all you can eat sushi anxiety! You can share the sushi with each other no rules on that like other all you can eat sushi. We ordered some appetizers and everything was great. I liked my Atlantic special roll. You can also ask for a regular menu and we did that to order some sushi to take home to our teen. The salmon sushi is fresh and delicious but please note it is not part of the AYCE and there is an extra charge if you order it. This place was happening around 6-7 pm. Very busy even though it was a Thursday. Shrimp and Beef Teriyaki both delicious as well as the Rock shrimp! Ahi Tower and Sashimi Flight were both perfection. First time here and did the AYCE sushi and it was lovelyyyyy. The stand outs were the rock shrimp, tuna sashimi, the sashimi trio and crispy rice. The service was very fast, was recommend making a reservation as they were busy on a Friday night around 6pm. read more

The new Oishi Omakase is the old Himawari, and it is amazing! Totally redone interior with beautiful decor, a great sushi bar and alll new menu. We went for dinner on Fathers Day. The Restaurant was full but didn't seem too crowded with plenty of space to relax, eat and talk with family. The new decor was bright, cheery and clean. 6 four top tables and a 6 top for 30 table seated plus the sushi bar. Not bad. There were people waiting after we ate but they all seemed to be fine with waiting for good food and service. The owner Jimmy came by and was right there making sure that everything was good. Seeing his Mom there working and keeping busy let's you know that this is a family business. Family is what it is all about. The waitresses were very attentive and made sure that we had water, tea, and all the food we ordered promptly. We had two all you can eat dinners and one a-la cart. Drinks are not included with AYCE dinner. Water is. LOL Doesn't matter. The food was excellent, fresh and hot or warm when necessary. The salads were fresh, soup excellent, sushi, sashimi, teriyaki, ramen and more. The menu is diverse and always fresh. It was great coming back to Jimmy's place again. Definitely worth it. They take reservations, but make you wait - up to an hour. When you finally do sit down and finally order - then the waiting begins again. After a total of 1 1/2 hours of waiting, we only had water on the table, so we left. We weren't the only ones leaving. Made a reservation for 930pm, was promptly seated and then waited for 10 minutes and was told it was last call for all orders and all you can eat sushi orders. Totally understand the kitchen was backed up. But doesn't make sense to accept a 930 reservation with a 90 minute all you can eat menu and then say, "oh but we close at 930." Most reviewers have talked about the all-you-can eat, which is quite good, but consider springing for the omakase, which is extraordinary. Every course is a gem, from otoro to waigu beef with foie gras. The omakase includes as much saki and/or beer as you want, and if you are still hungry at the end, the chef happy to offer additional courses. All of the fish was fresh and delicious, and none of it was ordinary. I have not had better sushi on Long Island. read more
