Cute dog friendly brewery with plenty of outdoor seating. I came here with my fiancé and his sister and I brought our two pups here on a beautiful Saturday afternoon and sat outside. Plenty of shade and fans. Service was quick and attentive. Plenty of drink options. However, food was not great. The Southwest eggrolls were the only thing that i enjoyed. Back to the beer, and it was a great selection the night we were in so we had our usual 3 and wanted to order the hubcap nachos but the nice lady behind the bar said, they are really for 6-8 people. So we ordered the 'smaller' plate of nachos and wow, she was right. We struggled to finish those, so the hubcap would have left us with bulging eyes if we tried to stuff all those down our gullet! The nachos were actually very good. Meat, cheese, fajita chicken, onions, etc. all layered amongst crispy tortilla chips. They have a beautiful out door area but it was raining on and off all day, thus I sat inside. Food Drink - I had a pint of the GLLRGA, a solid double hazy IPA, by Rally Cap Brewing Company . I also had a sample of Red Nose Reinbeer, the bartender tought I would like based on our beer discussions. This was a seasonal beer by Urban South Brewery Dinner - Boudin balls caught my eye off the app menu. So I started with those. I also did not order more after that. The dish had five balls on it. I felt these balls were closer to hush puppies as I was not getting much of the boudin sausage vibe from these bites. Service - When your name has the word Brewing in it, I feel the place should have beer that they produced at the location. Not here, that is why they lost a star on service. We were in Lake Charles La visiting and decided to try Rikenjaks for lunch. I've heard so many good things about this restaurant we had to try it. Once we arrived the parking lot wasn't very full which was perfect for us. The patio area has a nice crowd. The kids and adults were really enjoying the giant Jenga and the checker game also. Once we went inside we were greeted with a hello and shortly afterwards our server Caroline Z came over. Once we got menus we were informed that they only have a small menu with burgers and appetizers during the week, but on weekends they have a bigger menu. We both order sweet tea and after looking over the menu we both decided to try the burgers. We decided to start with the southwestern eggroll appetizer and they were delicious. For our main courses I decided on the Brewpub burger which consisted of beer battered onion ring, pepper jack cheese, bacon and smoky barbecue sauce with Cajun fries. My hubby ordered the American Classic Burger which consisted of 8oz patty, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion with mustard and mayo with waffle fries. Everything was absolutely delicious. The burgers were huge and very tasty. The fries were awesome. The burger was so big we couldn't finish our fries, but we brought them home. The shrimp appetizer and the pretzels with beer cheese are amazing! I will have the shrimp as my meal next time! The fried green tomatoes where great as well. I had a bite of the chicken fried chicken and those mashed potatoes where the best I've ever eaten in a restaurant. I don't know what goes into them but I want more! Now I don't if I came on a bad day or what but the fish tacos weren't good at all. I barely had any fish and the fish I did get didn't taste like anything, no seasoning and I couldn't tell what type of fish it was. Big disappointment because I love love fish tacos. Bathrooms were super clean. The restaurant was clean. Love the atmosphere. The waitress was super friendly and very informative. I wish I would have gotten her name because she was excellent. The other slackers just hanging out, managers hide in the office the entire time. The transition from Brunch to Full Menu, just stay away during those hours (2-4pm on Sunday). 25 minutes for wife to get her beverage, which she ended up just going to the bartender directly for. We ended up placing our order with the bartender, and food (limited menu, of which items were not what we were planning to order) only took another 40minutes. I understand they were all probably coming off of a very busy brunch, but the management here are should be coach on how to handle patrons during off-peak hours. read more

This was a recommendation from a friend- I ordered crawfish and friends ordered from the "different kitchen". My crawfish came out in about 30 minutes. Friends food still hadn't shown up in over an hour. Asked to speak to manager- when she finally shows up she tells me I sorry, we have been really busy. Doesn't take Einstein to see something was going on. Trying to find the waiter was like looking for a needle in a haystack. I explained to her that I understand y'all were busy but no one said your food is going to be delayed. So my crawfish are at the table and my friends are just sipping on their drinks. I visited this place a little after 2pm on a Saturday. It was nice weather, so I decided to sit outside. There was no wait, as I was escorte to a table immediately. I ordered a mimosa. When it was presented to me, there was a half set of pink lips along the rim. I sent it back (I know, I know). Service is definitely slacking... maybe to certain guests. I waited over 40 minutes to get a Grill Chicken salad. Customer seated well after I was seated ordered, eat, and left. hmmmmm. After over 50 minutes of waiting on a salad, I asked to speak with a manager. He came. I explained that I've been waiting over an hour for a chicken salad... without hearing the "rest of the story", he stated that he would check in itand hastily left. The salad arrived 10 minutes later. Things that I asked not to be on the salad... were. I didn't get a knife to cut the chicken.. only a fork... no napkins (geez!). The good in all of this, the sale wad good!! ...Or was I just hungry as all get out?? Something definitely was wrong with me for staying that long. I saw the waitress all of three time during this episode. The manger never returned. Getting the check was a effort. You would've thought a 10% discount would have been offered. Lol. (not to day!) Long overdue review from visit of Sunday before Mardi Gras 2020, on which day they were packed to the rafters with all indoor and outdoor seating full. In spite of the Crunch Conditions, everyone on staff was friendly & helpful. Glass of porter was good to very good in the taste and texture department. Plenty of roasty flavor without being sharp enough to bite. I would easily & gladly order this brew again. The couple of barkeepers we interacted with were bright, friendly, enthusiastic, and engaging. The couple guys at the front door managing traffic were polite & welcoming. Can't say enough good things about the staff. Great crew! Our only miss was in the food department. Having already had lunch, we opted to order three portions of bread pudding as a late dessert. The wait for the food grew to be pretty long at about 45 minutes, made pleasant by conversation with the "on break" barkeep, and partially explained by the fully packed house that day. But when the bread pudding arrived it was under cooked. I got a piece from the edge of the pan in which the custard was decently set around the edge of the piece, but was soft'ish away from the edge. So sort of just okay on texture, while being fine on taste. However, another party member who got interior piece reported the custard was totally unset & found the portion basically inedible. Our suspicion is that they were out of the item when we ordered and, rather than say "Sorry, we are out just now", they tried to rush a batch through the oven without giving it time to bake through. That would also partially explain the delay. FUTURE SHOT: I would gladly stop into Rikenjak's again for the fine brew, energetic atmosphere, and especially for their very friendly staff. Food wise, I will stick to items that are expected to be made upon order, like sandwiches or salads. Varying from that, I will verify the "made up & on hand" status of my order before placing it. read more

I had the sangria that was "ok" but strange not the best I have had. Also had a salad that had that had some questionable lettuce pieces. Alan was a good waiter, he was prompt and kind. There will be live music tonight. (Every Sunday night) They have activities and happy hour every day of the week. Bar and patio is nice, the inside is cute too. There was a slight hiccup when our order came out, but management fixed the problem and also gave a small discount on the plate that had the issue.
