I chose the crawfish dinner which came with etouffee, fried crawfish, crawfish Mac and corn on the cob. The Mac and corn were the best parts. Fried crawfish was cold and the etoufee lacked seasoning and had a sticky consistency. The gumbo was okay but not special. 9/11/2025: I celebrated my birthday with family and friends at Drago's. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and the service was great. The restaurant offers a sea food buffet for $65.00. We all opted for ordering off the menu instead. The inside is decorated nicely. I would definitely eat here again. It was my best restaurant experience of the 4 nights and 5 days I stayed at L'Auberge. The fried shrimp was delicious, the gumbo was great, and the lobster (according to my aunt) was good. My friend treated me for dinner dinner tonight. The food was excellent. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our waitress was Sarah. The service was great. The ambience was nice. Service is rude and could careless about making sure the needs of the customers are met and sadly that included the management. I've eaten at this Dragos location before and I think it's pretty decent here. I returned recently for their ChuckEats menu and I'll say it's a 100% worth trying! Started off our meal with the Chargrilled Oysters - those were the 10/10 and right on point. Then for entrees, my partner got the short rib and I ordered the whole lobster. Both were absolutely delicious! The short rib was filling, fall off the bone soft, and had plenty of flavor. The whole lobster was also delicious, however between the two entrees the lobster is less filling. We finished the meal with a brownie sundae and a bread pudding. I preferred the bread budding as it was perfectly soft, and I loved the fruit it came with. The brownie sundae was good as well, but very sweet. Service was okay. I would have appreciated if silverware and napkins were readily on the table or brought out without having to ask for them, but not a huge deal. Came for breakfast not knowing it was a brunch buffet. Surprised it was reasonably priced at $19.99. The charbroiled oysters are not apart of the buffet but can be ordered a la carte. There's a little bit of everything offered so it's bound to please everyone. From fruit, salad, shrimp cocktail, to your typical breakfast items (eggs, bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, waffles) and pastries. Omelets and pancakes are made on request. The fried catfish was fried well and chicken and sausage gumbo hit the spot. The gumbo was probably one of the better items on the line. The chicken and beef dish they had were both over cooked and dry. The chargrilled oysters were on the smaller side but still butter garlicky good. Our waitress was busy with a large group so wasn't as attentive when it came to refills or ease of ordering during the meal. Overall the restaurant was large, clean, with decent food and service. First off, the staff was pleasant and the drinks where good. The baked oysters! Yummy! Best item on the menu. The other items when arrived weren't great at all! No flavor. Bland food, over priced. And more than likely I would not eat here again. I would only go back for a set of Oysters and a glass of wine and on an occasion someone else wants to go for an event! This would not be my first place of pick while eating in Lake Charles, while they have good customer service. They're lacking in the food area! Serving sizes are big but it's way to much, and an wedge salad should come on a wedge of lettuce not Romain lettuce leaf's with fat cherry tomatoes. We stopped by this restaurant for a quick lunch while visiting L'Auberge and the Golden Nugget next door. Loved the drinks and food. We started with a key lime mimosa that was perfectly crafted and as delicious as you might imagine with its combination of key lime rum, orange and pineapple juice and coconut syrup (and of course champagne). Me and my family were staying at the hotel/casino. We decided to go eat at this establishment, which didn't open up until 4pm. (inside of a busy casino). When we arrived, they tried to almost force you to pay $40 per person for a buffet meal. They have very limited options for single serving meals. Cup of gumbo or oysters and one other item. The dumbest thing a restaurant could do is turn down multiple people because most don't eat alot of food to pay $40 for the buffet. We were originally concerned there would be a long line but were pleasantly surprised to see the large size of this venue inside the casino. Staff were pleasant and efficient. After reading a few bad reviews lately, I was reluctant to go. However, we had a great experience. The food, service, and atmosphere was awesome. Chea waited on us. She normally does banquet service, but was helping out. She did a great job for us. We had Fleur de lis shrimp, Caesar salad, and shrimp pasta. They were fabulous. Nice place inside the mall. We sat at the bar and the bartender was really tentative to the guys in my group. Making all kinds of cool drinks and stuff lol but he was so tentative he forgot my water. Thursday - eat all you can crab leg day. being seated was a breeze maybe because we got there early but witnessed 2 tables that seemed to be forgotten- an almost 10 minute wait after being seated is a long time, felt bad for them though, hate being in that type of hassle server was alright, she was attentive but later in the long run she started avoiding being called to get our plates replaced. the dinner crab buffet has no time limit so I dont understand that behavior. she was quick to attend when I just decided to ask for our check. the quality of the crab legs is just ok - its not a crack and peel the shell method of eating but crack, peel, dissect, scrape the meat etc mode of eating is what youll expect when you eat here cause the crab legs are so overcooked, the crab meat were all soggy that youll need to scrape every meat from inside the shell.. it wasnt a joyful crab eating experience when every plate they bring you are all overcooked. 2nd day was the Saturday brunch. food selection wasnt a lot. decent but not enough selection. the made to order omelette was good, dirty rice, gumbo and catfish. service was again seemed questionable- questionable in way if they are being trained properly. we always have to wait if we need coffee or ordering omelets while there wasnt that much tables, it wasnt that busy. he never asked to use our play card for discount, I have to inquire and he said theres a discount. I gave my card and cash and while hes ringing it up I already set my tip separately. I handed right away my tip to him as he was also handing out my change - change without a receipt and then I noticed he already took out as well a portion of the tip. I was just dumbfounded that I keep looking at my wife like what just happenend again?! I felt like I didnt want to embarrass the server to ask again for the tip I gave him since you already taken some change from what I gave you (which is still $8) ended up giving the server a total of $15 tip for a sucky service. he didnt even gave me back my Penn play card and have to ask him for it. didnt even showed what discount percentage I got cause he even ended up getting his own tip from the change without even asking, right? I hate when servers behave that way that they're entitled to such tips - well, it depends if youve provided excellent service. even for soso service I still give them tips cause waiting is not an easy job. This used to be a premier seafood place: great food, fast and efficient service, reasonable prices (for a casino, I mean). Maybe our visit was just a one-off bad night, but still... It took forever to get service. We cut them some slack because there was a pretty good crowd, and they were busy. But 15 minutes after sitting down is too long to wait. We ordered a couple of appetizers: The oysters were delivered without any sides, like plates or crackers, or stuff. Ya know. It's oysters. Don't just drop 'em on the table and split. Also, the chips with the dip were horribly stale. We ordered the fried shrimp platter (passable shrimp, dreadful fries), and a bowl of seafood gumbo and a crab salad. The gumbo was good; the crab salad never made an appearance. We were just gonna have the waitress correct the ticket, and pay and get out. But the manager stopped by and asked how things were, so we told him. He was apologetic and conciliatory, and offered a free dessert, which we accepted. We shouldn't have; it took 20 minutes for them to bring it, and another 10-12 minutes for us to pay. Never - EVER - going back to Drago's. And y'all should save your money. 5 stars go to the hostess and the lady that sat us- they were both very welcoming and super friendly. While we were looking at the menu, our waitress approached us and was asked to move to another table because a bigger group is going to sit on our table to be combined with the other table -_- fine no biggie we moved. We ordered a Cajun lemonade (Bayou spiced rum, Pimm's, sweet n sour, splash of Tabasco) not really spicy but strong and good. Started with a side Caesar salad that two people could've shared. Hubby tried the chicken & sausage gumbo and I tried the seafood gumbo both were delicious, good roux and spiced just right. I also tried the charbroiled oysters- which I found horrible! It was doused in butter. I love butter but I didn't taste any garlic, pepper, oregano that was supposed to be mixed with the butter. I didn't see any Parmesan, Romano cheese and parsley on top of the oysters either. Bland boiled oysters is what I got . Our food wasn't even halfway eaten and here comes our server Ashleigh with our check as if she's trying to rush us out the door already. The place wasn't even that busy tonight and we sure weren't in a rush to leave either so I don't know what that's about. My husband did an impromptu drive to Lake Charles for our anniversary. After reading the reviews I decided we had better try. I'm so glad I did. My favorite was the chargrilled oysters. We also had spinach dip which was average but seemed to be made from scratch. My husband had main lobster and seemed to be pleased. The food was AMAZING!!! Our server Shameka was so sweet and trying her best to accommodate her section which was over sat!!! However, I was NOT impressed by the hostess' who really had no idea what was going on. We were told the wait was 15-20 minutes which was fine, we waited almost 45, and watched as multiple bigger parties that checked in after us were sat. Lack of management.!!!! The manager was a shorter Hispanic man (not sure what his name was, which is why I'm describing him) walked around aimlessly while the restaurant was CLEARLY slammed and in total disarray, we watched him on his phone multiple times. As a restaurant owner myself, my husband and I were very understanding, and in no hurry. We told Shameka to get to us when she could, because her other tables were giving her the runaround and very irritated! We counted, and at one point she had at least 20 people in her section with absolutely ZERO help. At one point, we heard her ask 2 different servers for help, they looked at her and walked away. It wasn't until one of her tables walked out that the manager finally came to her section. Then proceeded to start talking to her when she was trying to process payments or ring in orders.... That wasn't the time! That poor girl needed help from her coworkers and management! As we were leaving we looked around the restaurant was a MESS! I needed to treat the Missus to a nice meal to make up for stumbling into the hotel room at 5am after losing money gambling (1 star for the L'auberge Baccarat tables). I will say that the modern French style dining room looks great. Way nicer than the old school New Orleans Drago's atmosphere. The food though, did not quite live up to our expectations. We LOVE charbroiled oysters! Drago's Metairie is even our favorite spot for getting them. These oysters though had either way too much butter or not near enough parmesean cheese topping on them - so the dish was more of a dissapointing boiled oyster than a broiled oyster. The Crawfish Hash and Eggs was pretty run of the mill that you could expect at a decent Diner. The Buscuit and Tasso Gravy was plentiful, but also very run of the mill. The French Toast though was very good. I would recommend the FT to others coming here. So in summary - Thanks Drago's you did not get me out of the doghouse. read more
