Been here a few times, the workers are always so nice! The cats are nice, up for adoption too. The food is delicious and the brownie and Onigiri is my go-to whenever I come. 10/10 bringing my friends and parents sometime

While I don't disagree that Luna Cafe could be a little cleaner, I was recently told that the building was abandoned for a long time before Luna Cafe came along. This kind of made me feel better because at least we are set up and a place that was previously unoccupied and run down. I went as a birthday group a couple months ago, we each got something different to test out the menu. The ordering process, the paying process and the food took longer than desired but you definitely can use the time to see the cats in the meantime. It's very chill, just go and hang out with some cats. But they have kittens and they like to snuggle and play. This differs from other cat cafes in the area, that don't have as many cats that are likely to come up to you and want you to pet them. The food was pretty good. I had the bento box with the sake chicken. It was pretty good, but kind of small for the price. Another at the table had the beef dish and said it was great but again was small for the price. For dessert they gave us a birthday plate which was awesome, on the house. The dessert was delicious. The onigiri were pretty cool because you can choose different flavors. And the boba tea flavors are awesome. I love that you can get the split cup and try multiple that way. My friend said the brown sugar Bob was delicious. The owner came down and chatted with us a little, was pretty cool... and he's super proud of what he's got there! As he should be. Whoever adopts or adopted the kitten named Growl Tiger, please take good care of the little guy for me!

Happy that Syracuse has a cat café at all, so I hate to say anything negative but was really so disappointed in the experience. The restaurant/café unsanitary - think hair in food and dried food on plates. Also one of the cats escaped the cat room and ran around the restaurant for a bit...I wasn't necessarily expecting outstanding food and was actually happy to overpay in the name of supporting kitties but we were essentially served college struggle meal food. The actual cat room is pretty worn out and could definitely be cleaner especially seeing the upkeep at other cat cafes in larger cities. The cats get plenty of attention from visitors but the employees seem like they could care less. I was asking specifically for the escape cat mentioned above but the response I got was "hm we don't know where she is" - minimal concern for where the cat could have gone off to and no interest in finding this cat a forever home.

As a Yelp Elite member for several years now, I really don't enjoy giving bad reviews. But when I have to, well, it's because it needs to be shared. The cafe space is decent. It's a red and black Japanese style with on-theme Japanese cat art adorning the walls. I only saw the big drink menu above the register (mainly includes boba and coffee) but apparently they also have food and snacks that I didn't get a chance to try. The staff were friendly and the cafe area seemed like a decent place to relax from my initial impression. The boba was average. However... the cat room is a completely different story. While they make an effort to utilize vertical space, they generally seem to be running on too low of a budget. In my opinion, they have too many cats in one room (12+), or perhaps not enough cleaning staff, because right upon walking in there I was slapped with the stench of dirty litter, several of the cats being pretty unclean themselves. Although a reasonable request, I found it ironic that the staff asked us to use hand sanitizer before going in there when the place wasn't exactly sanitary itself. I don't think the number of cats is necessarily the problem considering shelters seem to manage the same in better condition. Although I'm glad they're trying to make a difference (with over 160 successful adoptions so far), I strongly question if the staff are qualified to be handling these animals in a rescue capacity, whether that's keeping the room up to a hygienic standard or generally caring for their health and wellbeing. Their only toys come from donations, so they barely had any to play with the cats, either. I just felt bad for them. A dirty environment and nothing fun to enrich them. Considering that this is also a place you're meant to enjoy food, the condition of that cat room is completely unacceptable. Period. I don't plan on returning.

If you want to find the best pineapple upside-down cupcakes and the yummy okonomiyaki pizza in Syracuse stop in here for a treat! The service was excellent and the chef is right on point with his dishes! I was lucky enough to have been there at the right time to enjoy some Cherry stuffed Taiyaki! Can't wait to get back and try more options! Lest I not forget the furry friends in the sitting room. The cat room is full of playful, animated, fun-loving kitty's that love company and attention. Stop in to visit with these adorable fur buddy's!

Some of the best bubble tea I have ever had! The first room is where you have your dinner and drinks and the second room is where all the cats are. The building is super old, but there isn't much they can do about that. The prices are really good for most of their stuff. The quesadilla is a bit small, but it's keto so that makes sense to me. I would recommend either a half hour or an hour on the cat room. Unless your going to spend a few hours in the cat room watching anime, then you'll be good for one hour max with cats. For food, I would definitely recommend their bento or meat ball sundae. They are totally different than other places around here.

    One of the cats

Let me start off by saying this is one of my favorite places to go. The staff are the sweetest things around (yes, the cats), and the humans there are ok, too, I guess :-). The smores boba is to die for! Some of the bad reviews may have come from an off day, and the really old ones are not relevant anymore since the cafe was just getting its feet off the ground. For the more current issues, I am sure they would have corrected the issue on the spot because that is how Luna Cafe is. They care about their customers, especially as a small business. They're still growing and learning the best ways to do things. Chain restaurants were there someday as well and have time to mature. For as old as the building is and how disrepaired it used to be, the cafe has a pretty decent ambiance. It doesn't look like a brand new building at all but a decent retrofit into a space. Their recent flooring upgrade was a huge improvement. They can only do so much renting from a landlord and not owning the building. Good food and products sometimes take time. It's not a fast food place, it's's a restaurant, and a pretty good one at that. Give this place a go and you won't be disappointed. The okonomiyaki pizza is my favorite item, but the onigiri is amazing, too. Stop in and say hi to their cats and adopt one if you can!

    Piper H.

I did have a good time but I had some issues, it didn't look they they cleaned the cat room or even vacuumed thoese carpets in a while the room almost stunk, some of the cats where very skinny, they staff was also a bit rude. The food was very low quality for what they where serving the boba tea had no flavor it was basically just water and the bubbles were nothing they had no taste it was also very over priced for such low quality food. Also most of the cats don't even like to be interactive or pet by people. The cat room was dirty please invest in cleaning it more often. They also insulated me directly after leaving an honest review on there page

Absolutely love this place! The food is a good mix of Western American and Japanese cuisine. It's a fun afternoon activity to go in, get a fun drink, see some kitties and eat some good food. Staff are sweethearts, too:)

    Adrianne O.

You must experience this gem for yourself! The food is amazing, the kitties are the sweetest, the service was on point, and the owner and staff are the best! You will not be disappointed with this spot and I'm jealous I can't have it closer to home!

I don't know why people are saying the cafe was dirty, everytime I come in the cafe is pretty clean for being the middle of winter with all that salt and only one staff member out front! The food is quite tasty, I love the pizza and sake chicken. My favorite drink is the Kumquat Hot Tea! I got my now ESA from there named Kahjiit!!!!

    miso

The bubble tea was amazing! I got one order of miso onigiri and one miso chicken, I couldn't decided which one I liked better. So looking forward to going back to try everything else. Loved the overall theme and all the employees were very friendly and helpful, as a very picky eater there's quiet a lot on their menu I'm looking forward to trying out.

I asked them if they could get me a clean cup and they ended up bringing the same one as the same mark and crumb were still there. For food, our table ordered a few items to share. We got: -CAULIFLOWER WINGS: The chutney/salsa on top of the fried cauliflower was nice and gave the item a little sour kick. However, the cauliflower itself was not cooked fully so not as soft as I wanted it to be. -SYRACUSE POUTINE: The appearance of the poutine was not the best. However, the gravy it came with was very flavorful and tasty. The potatoes themselves were not fried and were in wedge form but went well with the gravy. The small globs of melted cheese on top were a nice complement. -CAJUN SLIDERS: The slider compliments/sauce went well together but the sliders themselves had grill marks on it which gave a bitter bite to those parts of the slider. Additionally, the fried shrimp inside of the slider still had the tail on and so it was a bit of a surprise to bite into a full tail while eating a slider. All in all, a cute spot to see people but food had some hit or miss components.

Got a terrific table to look out the window and enjoyed a nice evening view. Took full advantage of every food meal course available. Started out with their evening appetizer of homemade bread with cinnamon butter. Each of us got our own dinner choice along with small plates to start. The two small plates were green lentil salad and ember roasted carrots. Both of them with their unique flavor and style. The green lentil salad featured heirlooms. The ember roasted carrots featured labrieth, doqqa, and maple syrup. Keep in mind everything here comes from local farms and local breweries and distilleries. Big fan of supporting the state and local community. Fantastic! They feature only a few main entrées, tonight's included halibut, steak, chicken, and sea Island peas with jasmine rice. Knowing how well seasoned their steaks are, I went with a filet mignon 10 ounce. Probably a little more than I should've gotten, but I very rarely eat steak and know how well and good they are here. Ordered the steak medium to medium rare and that's exactly how it came out. Mouth watering delicious. Along with the steak includes mashed potatoes, chimichurri, kale, and. crème fraiche. Every bite was outstanding. One of us got ice cream for dessert which she said was very good. The ice cream was made right there at the restaurant. We kicked off the dinner with a rum cocktail and a tequila cocktail. All spirits locally sourced. If you haven't tried it here yet you should. You will not be disappointed.

So far so good. Very nice young woman looked after us. My wife ordered the rigatoni and I had the chops. She loved her rigatoni so much she's finishing it off 2 days later and still loving it. Sadly my dish was a bit of a disappointment. My two large chops were extremely fatty. It's the kind you simply can't cut through on a slippery plate. Trying to separate what little meat there was from the fat was impossible so I had to give up and bring it home to a cutting board and an extremely sharp knife. I haven't tried to eat it yet but it looks as fatty as the first. Both had been totally covered by a condiment that I think should have been served in a separate container to allow the diner to regulate the amount desired. The base was a pilf which made trying to cut the chops even more difficult because every time the meat or the knife slipped, the table was showered with grains....all a bit slapstick....! As I previously said, my wife loved her meal and the previous visit was epic so I hate to criticise but I'm just trying to be honest and fair. I think $45 for a couple of very fatty chops with not much meat and smothered in a vinaigrette you might not like is a bit cheeky... In different circumstances I would have sent it back. Oh well, you live and learn...
