Larry and Kyle are very professional and friendly, knowledgeable and fair. After reading reviews, I sent a request for information late one evening, and Larry answered within an hour. We set up and appointment for Larry and his son Kyle to give me an in-home estimate on replacing about 500 square feet of old carpeting in two bedrooms and their walk-in closets. Kyle walked me through various fiber and style choices and even helped me pick the color. Larry measured the rooms and gave me a quote for installation, moving furniture, and the removal of the old carpeting. The price was very reasonable, so Kyle prepared a contract for me, he checked with the manufacturer for stock status, and we picked a date for the installation. Since I live in a condo, I needed a Certificate of Insurance to present to the building management company so the work could be approved. Larry sent me one without delay. The installation itself was so smooth. The team, Pedro Jr. and Luis, arrived right on time, moved furniture with great care, took up the old carpeting and padding, and put down the new. The master bedroom is large enough to require seams in the carpeting, and they did a great job. When they were finished, they vacuumed thoroughly and even cleaned the building's common areas like the hallway and lobby to make sure there was no trace of carpet and padding crumbs. They were kind enough when replacing the furniture to allow me to measure carefully and they repositioned the furniture to my exact specifications. I'd been thinking about getting new carpeting for a couple of years now, and it was reading the fabulous reviews for Larry and Kyle and American Carpet that gave me the confidence to go ahead and do it. So if you live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago and you are hesitating over getting new carpeting, take the plunge and call Larry and Kyle. A friend who just redid her basement bought her vinyl floors from Carpet Central & Hardwood Flooring so I went there to check out all the options. I brought home a bunch of samples that looked good and facetimed with my decorator (who recently moved to Dallas) to find the best one. They all appeared a bit grey so I returned and brought home so more samples. This time I got it right and had Mike price it out for me. My contractor thought the price was very fair so we decided to move forward. When I checked out the samples I thought in stock meant in Illinois, but it was in the warehouse in Georgia. It took about a week to get to us, which was pretty fast, but I was hoping to start a week earlier. My kids are going a little stir crazy without a basement in the winter! As Mike promised it came in exactly a week after ordering and he worked with my contractor to pick it all up the next day. I did get an invoice that day even though I had paid for the floors a week earlier, but Mike apologized for the mix up. The floors are currently being installed and I look forward to seeing the finished product!

It was one of the first things I planned to replace. But after one cleaning, CCG completely brought it back to life and it looks brand new. I have two big dogs, so I have them come about every nine months and they consistently do the wall-to-wall carpet in my basement and the stairs up to the first floor as well as my couch. And the couch is done cushion by cushion and pillow by pillow. Both the carpet and the couch always look brand new after they leave. Sporadically, I have also hired them to clean other pieces of furniture that I don't use that often - to an amazing end. And recently, they started doing my custom runner up the stairs from my first to second floor. I was a little nervous about it at first as it has custom canvas trim - but again - looks fabulous. I believe that they had a change in management in the past year or so. I ordered carpet to be installed on a staircase- they promised that it would take about 2 hours and scheduled an 8 am instal. The installers showed up 5 hours late and said it would take 5 hours to install due to cutting the rug etc... and they were late because the company had overbooked them on other jobs. I sent them away and got a refund. I was very disappointed with the drastic change in the company- used to be so much better.

On our previous purchase with E.C. they undercut Home Depot's bid by more than $1500. This time, they crushed another small, local store. It took some time and patience, but after quite a bit of back and forth, we reached a satisfactory resolution, and our floors now look great. Stay calm and kind. Most of the people you speak with are not decision-makers; they relay your issues to those who are. If you treat them kindly, they will "fight" for you and prioritize you as a customer. If you're not satisfied, ask to speak with managers and have all your information and proper documentation ready. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to remain calm and kind. You can achieve a reasonable resolution. Don't give up and they will make things right.

The salesman did not notice that there was tile below the current floor or even think it might be an asbestos floor. I know he saw the floor because I watched him. When the installer showed up, he said he could not install because of the asbestos. I had it remediated and the installer came back. He put in the new floor but refused to move the furniture into the rooms or re-install the closet doors. He said they did not tell him he had to do this so he did not have a crew with him to do it. His supervisor promised another appointment in a few days to move everything back. I began calling Empire a day or so later to confirm the appointment and was told there was not one. Each call I made to them told me something different. Finally they told me that they would not move furniture into a room that they did not take it out of or re-install doors that they did not take down. My contract was clear that they move furniture in and out. There was one larger dresser that we could not get into the room and had to hire some moving guys to do that and of course, to pay for that. Empire has offered me a credit of $140 which is just a token to me. The salesman, the installer, the people on the phone, the supervisor, they all had a different story for the issues we were having. Hence, I would not recommend this company. And if you use them, not only get it in writing but record your phone calls (totally illegal) but I wish that I had.
