Like many others here, I had issues with Empire's installation and product. However, I think it's important to share that Empire eventually made things right for us. It took some time and patience, but after quite a bit of back and forth, we reached a satisfactory resolution, and our floors now look great. Stay calm and kind. Most of the people you speak with are not decision-makers; they relay your issues to those who are. If you treat them kindly, they will "fight" for you and prioritize you as a customer. If you're not satisfied, ask to speak with managers and have all your information and proper documentation ready. Again, I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to remain calm and kind. You can achieve a reasonable resolution. Don't give up and they will make things right. read more

I was incredibly unhappy with Empire. To begin with, they were the best price and they had a floor that matched others in a house I bought. The salesman did not notice that there was tile below the current floor or even think it might be an asbestos floor. I know he saw the floor because I watched him. When the installer showed up, he said he could not install because of the asbestos. I had it remediated and the installer came back. He put in the new floor but refused to move the furniture into the rooms or re-install the closet doors. He said they did not tell him he had to do this so he did not have a crew with him to do it. His supervisor promised another appointment in a few days to move everything back. I began calling Empire a day or so later to confirm the appointment and was told there was not one. Each call I made to them told me something different. Finally they told me that they would not move furniture into a room that they did not take it out of or re-install doors that they did not take down. My contract was clear that they move furniture in and out. There was one larger dresser that we could not get into the room and had to hire some moving guys to do that and of course, to pay for that. Empire has offered me a credit of $140 which is just a token to me. The salesman, the installer, the people on the phone, the supervisor, they all had a different story for the issues we were having. Hence, I would not recommend this company. And if you use them, not only get it in writing but record your phone calls (totally illegal) but I wish that I had. read more

They ran a black friday sale. I picked out carpet. Paid them. Scheduled install. They called me a day before the install to tell me it's out of stock. Now, I cant get a call back from them. When I have talked to someone they cant tell me when it will be in stock, promise to call me back and never do. Absolutely the worst experience ever. They cost me a month of time during a remodel and they still have my money. With digital inventory and AI, they should know exactly how much stock they have at all times. I am extremely disappointed with the quality of the flooring I purchased from this company. Despite being only two years old, the floors are already covered in nicks and showing significant wear. To make matters worse, they no longer even carry this specific product, leaving me with a 'cheap' result and no easy way to fix it. We had carpeting installed a week ago. Noticed a seam wasn't flush. Immediately the next day we called to schedule a repair. We were told we would be contacted in 48 hours. It took 5 follow-up calls and a call to a supervisor to finally get to the one person in all of Empire to speak to. Almost a week later!! They claimed they contacted us but no such contact was ever made. Two follow up calls were also made to our sales rep. Only one of those called were returned. We are simply trying to get someone out to repair something that should be an easy fix. And it's taking valuable amounts of my time and husband's time to get a simple appt. scheduled. Are there no back ups for the schedulers? Is there literally only one person in all of Empire today that can review an issue and schedule an appointment? I would be fired in an instant if this happened at my job. And I would deserve it. $7k in carpeting and can't get this resolved. Madness!!! read more

HORRIBLE INSTALLATION and CUSTOMER SERVICE. Let me start by saying, I'm pretty understanding and aware that any big job will result in some small things getting chipped or broken. I also DO NOT exaggerated. We signed up to get have new floors installed in our entire downstairs of our home. Kitchen, dining room, living room, front room, bathroom, and hallways. They completely ruined all of our beautiful and expensive base boards, the floors are wavy and mushy. And they destroyed the entire bottom of our built ins all the way across. Oh, and they got cement on our white couch. We also had two calls specifically stating that we do not want any quarter rounds anywhere and we came home to find them installed in multiple places. Me and my wife were away on business, which is why we didn't see the job in person be completed. Because of this, we didn't allow our mother-in-law to sign off on the job. When we came home, we couldn't believe a national company like this would leave our place looking like this. There is no way they couldn't know it looked horrible. It's been two weeks so far to get this resolved and we finally get a call that they will come Saturday 3/2 in the am. Unfortunately, my flight was cancelled and I couldn't make it home until the afternoon, so I called Friday to let them know. They didn't tell the installer who still showed up and was only told there was some kind of problem with the quarter rounds. Btw, they told me they would not send the same guy who made all these mistakes to come assess, and they did. Now they are saying they can't come back for another week to review. I have two small children, a wife that works and I travel. We don't have time for this and they don't seem to look at this as a priority. I will never use them again, and I need my entire upstairs down over next. It's pretty disappointing to have to deal with this kind of lack of care from such a known brand. The experience for this purchase was nearly painless. The sales rep, Matt, was skilled at his job and brought in a wide variety of choices. He explained all of the options thoroughly and helped us arrive at the correct choice. The install crew led by Juan was fantastic. They arrived promptly and began work immediately. They were able to prep and start installation on time which went smoothly. They repaired some minor issues and in all cases left our property in better condition than they found it. Cleanup was careful and meticulous, as though this was their own home. Because they didn't need to install and / use certain install materials, they made sure to take that off the final bill which was nearly $700 less than originally quoted! THEY TRY TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU. Where do I begin. We had a salesman come out to do an estimate and he was lovely. Showed us some samples and went over pricing. When we were given our quote he made a phone call to someone and they were miraculously able to cut the price by 12%. We knew this had been planned and was a sales pitch but we were glad for the "discount". When the contractors came to do the work, they ripped up some of the carpeting on our stairs and hallway and realized they could not do the work on the stairs due to them not being up to code. As they continued to walk through the house, they noticed structural work had to be done to the sub floors. They estimated the work to be $11,000. We told them we couldn't make that work and wanted to cancel the project. We were then countered with an offer of $8,000. We still told them we could not do this. Another counter was $5,000. Again didn't have the funds. Finally was told they would do the work FOR FREE. The fact that they went from $11,000 to then being able to do it for free disgusted us and we told them we could not in good faith do this. They proceeded to call MULTIPLE times to try to change our mind meanwhile the carpet was ripped up and exposed nails on the stairs (I have 2 kids and a dog) and broke the baseboard in our playroom and had no intention of fixing. I called and never received a call back. DO NOT use their services. So sad to see that they would honestly take advantage of people like that. read more

Approx 3 months ago I had a salesman from Empire come to my house to show me pictures of floors. He saw the condition my floor is in. The salesman Shane Shannon, was very nice, explained how durable the LVP is, he proceeded to take measurements, made notes. I asked very clearly about the baseboards, is the type of floor (LVP) going to fit. Shane Shannon assured me all materials are covered, including the baseboards, the furniture will be moved by the installers and everything will be done in one day. Since then 3 months have gone by and I still have no floor. The 1st time the installers came, they advised me they can't install the new floors because there is still humidity on the floors and I should get a dehumidifier. I bought one, it's been working 24/7. A new date was set for a month later. The installers came, advised the floor was still humid, and the baseboards they have don't match with mine, besides they only had a few pieces to cover the area that doesn't baseboards. Shane never mentioned they don't carry the same baseboards I have in the house, he just said its covered. By now I had called Shane several times and left voicemails, he never returned my calls. I called him again the day the 2nd ti e the installers came, no answer and now his voicemail was full and unable to leave messages. I spoke to customer service who promised to have a manager call me. A supervisor (not manager) Victor called, I explained how dissatisfied, disappointed I was with their lack of seriousness. Every time the installers come there are issues as to why the installation cannot be done. That I had tried several times to contact Shane to no avail. That this is not the way to do business and treat a customer, that I want to get out of the contract and refund my deposit ASAP. Victor asked I had read the contract because he could only reimburse 25% of the deposit. After so much back and forth on the phone with Victor, I said I would give them one more chance to do do things right. A week later, for the 3rd time the installers came. Now the issue is still the baseboards because the LVP is thinner compared to the laminated floor I still have, so there would be a gap between the wall and the floor, they would have to put a quarter round but there would still be holes left. The other issue is there would be a need to put a piece of the plank as a ramp between the dining room and kitchen also between the little hallway and the kitchen, and another one between the hallway and the bathroom which would be a hazard for anyone risking a slip and fall other than the fact it would look horrendous. So 3 times and my house is still a mess. These people cannot do things right, and refuse to reimburse the deposit. STAY AWAY FROM THIS EMPIRE COMPANY!!!!! read more

I invited them into my home with the intention of getting hardwood floors. Everyone that I talked to before the appointment knew that I was asking for solid white oak hardwood floors. The sales person came in and was unprepared with what I very clearly asked for in the appointment request. When he finally got the correct samples, they measured the rooms and gave me a quote. I requested to know more information about the quality of the wood and type to make sure that it would match the rest of the home. The sales person had to call someone Jay to see what the wood was and he also could not tell me. When I continued to ask question he said that "I was too aggressive and too much of a straight shooter." My main question was what was the wood that I was paying the premium for--and they told me that it was farmed wood. Everyone else who we called was extremely professional and way more affordable for a quality product with guaranteed resell value. ZERO STARS STAY AWAY!!! On **February 21, 2025**, I scheduled carpet installation with Empire and paid a **$3,349 deposit** the same day. A few hours later, I canceled the order. No materials were delivered. No installation took place. I was told by the representative that I would be issued a refund and that the cancellation was noted in their system. Since then, I've made **six phone calls** trying to follow up. Each time I'm told the same thing: "We've emailed upper management" or "Your case is being escalated." But guess what? **No one ever contacts me.** No email. No call. No refund. Just silence. I've been patient, polite, and persistent -- but at this point, it's clear that Empire doesn't value customers once they've taken your money. I've had to **file a dispute with my bank** and submit a **formal complaint with the BBB** just to try and get my refund. Things were great for a few years, after we had carpet installed on our entire first floor. When issues arose in regard to carpet buckling, Empire's customer service was a HUGE disappointment. They couldn't answer simple questions to address our concerns, didn't stand behind their installation, and quoted a steep price to set things right. I called Empire to set up an appointment for an estimate on Flooring. I spoke with John, who was thoroughly informed that I had only an hour window for them to measure. I was closing on the house at the end of the month and the current owner was gracious enough to allow me in for measurement to get the process started. John was told all this information and that this was important because I was having to coordinate with both real estate agents and the owner to make sure the time was OK. John assured me everything would be fine. "The representative from Empire will be there at 11 o'clock no problems". The day before appointment, I received my confirmation call from Empire. It was at this time they now told me there was an 11am to 1pm window for when the rep would show up. I had gone to great lengths to coordinate the time. I was told by three different Empire representatives we always have a 2-3 hour window, sorry our other guy told you differently. We just had basement carpet installed and although the carpet material is nice, the carpet does not meet the baseboard in places. The result is gaps that look very coarse and unprofessional. For the price I paid I would not expect now to have to try to get this fixed so that the install doesn't look so bad. I'm very disappointed. where do I start? This entire ordeal is an expensive nightmare. I was misinformed (didn't realize at the time) about the entire process. The people who did the laminate floor cut corners left pieces out and didn't finish, they were there for 3 days. I was in and out of the house working at my job and on the last day I asked them to text me and let me know what time they would probably be finishing so I could be home. They're supposed to be a complete walk-through to look at everything when they're done to make sure you're happy with it. they were gone when I got home and I found many things wrong. I called the company sent them pictures of what I was unhappy with and they sent a man back to finish the job. Again, he left before we could do a proper walk-through. There are places behind my appliances in my kitchen where the flooring doesn't even reach the wall there's huge gaps there are places in my kitchen where there's no trim placed and where there is trim place so it looks half done. My kitchen counters were also damaged ( an explanation or apology would have been nice) I'm not going to say that they took things from me but I am going to say that there are many things I cannot find. The upstairs was a different story. It was to be carpeted. A woman contacted me via text and said she was on her way to my house I contacted her back and said I was not there yet but I would meet her there. When I got home they were gone nothing had been done so I called the company and they told me that the carpet layers walked upstairs, there were clothes in my closet and my bed was made so they left. I did not understand that my closets had to be completely empty and that my bed had to be taken apart so that one is sort of on me. However she could've called me back or waited for me to get there . In all these days I had to make extra arrangements for my dog, and I had to shuffle my appointments around so that I could be available to be in and out of the house. The best thing I can say about this whole experiences were the two gentlemen that came a week later to place the carpeting did a wonderful job they were courteous polite and they did make sure we had a walk-through afterwards to make sure everything is OK. Those guys were wonderful and I can't say enough great things about them. For the money I am paying, I do not recommend using this company. And I'm so sorry that I didn't shop around local more like I usually do. My fault that I was in such a hurry to get it done. read more

I have a friend in Chicago who is physically compromised. he had empire do his flooring and this is what it looks like. they also damaged his refrigerator and are not accepting responsibility. is this how Empire runs their empire? taking advantage of the handicapped? The picture shows the flooring buckling, like it was laid over melons, not just little bumps. This is unsafe flooring for anyone but when you factor in age and a person's physical ability, this is treacherous. I called Empire Today because it's been around since I was a little girl and they would provide great service. To my surprise this was the worst decision I ever made. I had laminated flooring probably done 3 years ago and when I initially got it installed it was done incorrectly. I had to keep calling over and over for them to fix the flooring and the trimming. They sent out another installer who agreed the floor needed repairs then I had to follow up again so they sent a supervisor out. It took all of that and now 2024 my floor is totally destroyed. They said I'm past my warranty charged me $150 just for someone to look at the floor again and now I'm being told it will cost me maybe ANOTHER $5,000 to repair . Now they trying to blame that it's a high usage area with bar stools. The bar stools were in the area when I first got the floor and he said it wouldn't be a problem, water or sunlight. LIES!! My wife and I spent 1.5 hours with the salesperson (Julie Georgiadis) while she measured and inspected every room in our house for new laminate flooring. She noted that some old tile under the carpet could be an asbestos concern. After calling the installation manager and sharing pictures, they agreed that the new flooring could be installed without disturbing the questionable tile. We signed a $12,000+ contract and waited for installation day. We cleared and prepared every room per Empire's instructions. On installation day, the installers showed up and began looking around. They immediately said they couldn't do the dining room floor because the door wouldn't clear. I told them "No problem, I'll replace the door." They proceeded to pull up carpet to check the tiles, then said "There's going to be a gap between the quarter-round we install and the top of your trim because it's not baseboard -- it's door trim, so it won't look right." I tried calling Julie and the installation manager, but neither answered nor returned my call. The installers got tired of waiting and declared, "We can't do this job without disturbing the tiles--have an asbestos test, and we'll come back" -- and they left. There is no way a professional salesperson didn't realize there was a problem with the trim--she looked right at it when we were inspecting the tile. This was a bait-and-switch: get my money, be "unable" to do the job, then suggest, "We could always do new carpeting." The lack of responsiveness after the sale was very disappointing. My 68-year-old wife (who is dealing with cancer) and I spent a whole day preparing our home for a job that was never going to happen. read more

Empire only sells American made floor products, not cheap Chinese garbage. Installer was the best in the business went that extra mile. Prep floor properly cut up and hauled away old carpet. Ok spent 11k for a total crap experience. made the first payment as they said they would correct the shoddy workmanship. They wanted to come to the house and I said I no longer trusted them. They said they would not help me based on pictures and forced me to allow them to come. I said anytime after 4pm, they showed up at 7 am. The crew took pictures admitted the errors and asked me to sign off that they were there. I have since received a signed certificate of completion. They did not provide a receipt for service provided until 15 days after the work was done, many emails were sent, and several phone calls placed. An empire flooring specialist came to my house on the sales call. He was charismatic, relatable and just an all around good guy. He offered me a decent deal on the laminate flooring. I liked him but I wanted a second opinion. So, I called Luna which is under the Empire Today Brand! They came out and gave me an estimate for $700 more than Empire. When I mentioned that they had been out he wanted to know how much was the estimate and he beat it by $200. He said,"I have never seen an estimate that low for a space this size." Of course he said that when he offered $900 more than the final price. I'm getting my flooring installed tomorrow for an unbeatable price. I'm very happy with the quality of the product and the customer service. I get it that Empire and Luna are large companies even if they are under the same brand, but no company should be competing with their own. I'm glad I called Luna for the second estimate, because they sell the exact same flooring. read more

So here is another disappointing outcome with these people. I had the displeasure of speaking with a Mandy, who was basically useless never called us back on time took her a week to just set up an appointment for them to come look at the original problem from seven months ago. They then made an appointment and never showed up. Didn't even receive a call. We then had to call them again to see what was going on or to get an update and they literally had no excuse. Only said that there were no notes so they didn't know they set me up another date, then called me two days later to reach out to me to explain why they originally didn't show up on the first date and to schedule me another I had to let them know that I was already scheduled the woman I spoke to then seemed confused which is hilarious since she was the one who scheduled it since we couldn't get a hold of the wonderful Mandy lol.When they finally did arrive,they were basically trying to figure out a reason to put blame on us for the flooring being messed up, saying moisture,water damage or our chairs. They were pretty convinced that it was water damage and so I stated if it were water, why isn't there any mold!!!!?? The contractor man agreed and nodded,the other man didn't look so content that his partner was agreeing with me. The other hilarious thing is that the contractors were suppose to be here to "fix" the floor and that the original app they made to never show up to was because they were waiting for the correct vinyl planks and when they were here the material they brought with them was not only the wrong shade but also wrong size lol The contractor said that they were solely taking pictures so that whomever which I'm thinking is Mandy the woman we spoke to would have to look at those photos and give an answer based off of that if they would cover replacement or anything, she never called me back go figure!This is what I've gotten since the beginning Even with her first call speaking with us she was rude and I did not appreciate how she spoke to my father solely because he has an accent. Anyway I called them again today because like I said no one called me and this time it was on a recorded line I thought it was ironic that Mandy made sure to be super sweet on the phone, again because of the call being RECORDED she told me that they couldn't do anything and I would have to replace all of my floor and that this was already going to be discounted they quoted me $3600 to fix my kitchen floor which if they would have adequately installed, I wouldn't have had the problem originally or if they would have just fixed it seven months ago, this wouldn't have happened at this point I will never do business with them again! Also I asked who I could speak to that wasn't her and she literally tried to go around my question and said I could call the number to set up an appointment so basically refused to give me the number to whoever is her manager. Summary: Overall, I would not recommend going with Empire unless you are desperate and want the fastest installation possible. Pros: The reason I'm giving an extra star is the sales manager named Jay did a good job mediating and getting a little refund when things went sideways. Floors themselves seem to be good if you can see them under all the dirt and dust! Cons: Our initial sales person gave us a quote and noted that any additional cost for leveling would be very minimal, if there was any at all. Also, they refuse to give and itemized quote, which is pretty sketchy. The day of install came and 1) they asked for an additional deposit even though we had done financing, so had I not read the terms, we likely would have paid extra, and 2) the contractors came in and noted additional leveling needed to be done and they had to work with the home office to get the cost. The employee in the office called us and noted a significant increase (over $2k more). She was incredibly rude and talked over us whenever we asked for a breakdown of what this covered. She then stalled the installation and they didn't begin until late afternoon. The only reason it moved forward was because of the sales manager, Jay, who stepped in. The project began on Thursday, and was meant to be done Friday or Saturday. The contractor asked to come at 7 AM on Saturday. We waited around until nine when I called and he told us that the employee in the office had told them that they were not allowed to come out that day. No one gave us a call to let us know. Apparently they didn't have their insurance updated so this pushed our project out and it wasn't completed until the following Tuesday. There was no apology for this, in fact, the employee in the office was still rude and unhelpful when this occurred. The next big issue was with the actual work. The contractors left the doors open to where our stuff was and where our furnace is. After the project was complete, everything was completely covered in dust and dirt. Our vents throughout our home were covered in the dust, meaning we were breathing it in and it was being dispersed throughout our home. We are still cleaning off and getting rid of things that can't be salvaged a month later. Also, there is a horrible smell throughout the work that sticks around for a few days. Overall, the stress, time cleaning up after them, and the horrible interaction with some of the employees was not worth the fast install the Empire provides. If you do decide to go with them, ensure contractors cover your stuff or don't have anything anywhere near the work they are doing. Read the terms and beware! read more

The installation had to happen over two days due to non/miscommunication between sales and installation. A fire was started by the installers when they turned on a light in the closet and didn't move a quilt that was in there (The quit was from a deceased parent). The installers also left two holes in the wall of a freshly painted room. When I was called by the person handling the claim they were rude and openly doubted that the wall holes were put there by the installers. I was later contacted by a supervisor who apologized but it still leaves a bitter taste in a person's mouth. We are fairly satisfied with the carpet and the installation does look good minus 2 cable cords that were carpeted over. This was our second time using Empire and unless the carpet and flooring were going into an empty home I wouldn't use them again. read more

We went with empire because they are well known but never again. The sales rep was fantastic sold a perfect image. 1st problem is they say they are coming to install but don't give a window of time and then call you at 7am saying they are 5 minutes away! Floors looked great but within a week the planks in the kitchen started separating so I called to schedule service "that we were told would be simple" it took a couple weeks to schedule and once we did no one showed up or called the day we had scheduled. I called everyday for a week and kept being told they couldn't get ahold of the guys they had to talk to and they weren't sure why no one was calling us. Finally a week later someone comes out and thats only because I called the sales rep complaining and she got my complaint to the "right" person. Horrible customer service once they have your money you don't matter anymore. I was literally told by someone when I called "it's tax time and they are probably just busy with new customers" very disappointed oh and when they came today to fix my floor they called at 7 saying "we are 5 mins. Piss poor floor install, and when we complain about it they tell you to fuck off. They make you sign all paperwork up front so if their guys screw you over, they have your signature it's all done correctly. We had a tile floor replaced and their sales guy quoted a new sub floor, but their idiot installers didn't measure anything and we had a floor installed that was 3/4 inch lower than the rest of the house. 3 months later they want to charge us an extra $100 to "correct" their issue. By the time they responded we have already paid another company to fix their issues. And they're disputing the work being done as acceptable even though we have photos of all the bullshit they're trying to pass as completed work. Fuck empire. They're a fucking joke. read more

Thought Empire would be a reliable company since they have been around for long. Wrong. They came right out when I wanted new flooring. Got laminate. I tried to contact them about a gouge that we made and wanted them to fix it. I would have paid for that, but I got one response then didn't get any more. Two years-ish later, a couple of boards were separating. I sent an email and called but rarely got a response. They responded to me twice out of the four times I tried to contact them. The calls were from someone who mumbled and talked quietly. I luckily guessed the right extension to get to her, but I've yet to talk to her. They even sent me an email saying they've been trying to get in touch with me but haven't gotten an answer. Well call me back I'll answer. I called the better business bureau, and they weren't much help. Sending me the same email Empire sent me. I don't understand why after 2 years my flooring is going bad. We had flooring installed in our kitchen and there were 3 mistakes where they had to be called back , our warranty just expired when we noticed our planks were cut to short under the baseboard where he hid it , They refused to fix it free . read more
