I'm actually really surprised at the number of 5-star reviews. The company is responsive, and Bob was nice but the quality of our install is horrible. The seams are obvious, and the carpet on my stairs looks like a four year old used safety scissors and a glue stick to apply it. They didn't even align the seams on the steps-it's crooked. In addition, the other day, I noticed that they cut the carpet too short on one of the stairs, and just shoved a piece of carpet in the corner hoping I wouldn't notice! I did reach out to the company shortly after and after some back and forth they offered to send someone to look at it and possibly re-carpet the stairs; however they weren't all that concerned (or apologetic) about the situation. After all the hassle, their lackluster response, and the fact that their first install team was so awful we decided we just had to cut our losses. Speed and responsiveness are great qualities, but no substitute for quality workmanship. I'm glad others have had positive experiences but for us this one was a total miss. read more

I could not be happier with the service and quality from this company. I have a rental property that needed new carpeting desperately. I called a number of different places, and a couple of them came out to provide a quote. The difference between these companies, was that Mr Carpet Shop at Home provided a number of samples in my place and made the process very easy. They also had a competitive price. Bob came out and quickly measured the two bedrooms, brought all different kinds of samples and walked us through the differences of the types of carpet. We were able to quickly land on one we loved and the price was less than other companies we had talked to. Bob and Mary really did all the legwork and our installation was scheduled. All of the glowing 5-star reviews are spot on. We couldn't be happier with the process or with our new carpet. Mary responded to my initial inquiry quickly. When Bob arrived, he was wearing a mask, kept social distance and quickly worked to find something that fit our budget and aesthetic. He even upgraded our carpet pad for free when we mentioned we had pets. Bob was super patient with our hemming and hawing over two slightly different white colors and as in and out within about 30 minutes. We ended up choosing a carpet that needed to be custom made in California, but the team communicated well throughout our 10-day wait. Once the carpet arrived, the Mr. Carpet team was at our house within a couple of days. The installation team was kind, professional and, most importantly, super quick. They discarded our old carpet & pads and installed the new pads and carpet in about 90 minutes. In short, this is a great company that sells great products at super competitive prices. (Don't get lured in by the Big Box stores' promise of free installations etc.! They aren't cheaper!) read more

What my husband and I have learned having dealt with MANY if not most of the available carpet installers in the Chicagoland area is that there are ALOT of unreliable/untrustworthy vendors out there who will either lie on anything (availability, quality, price etc.) just to complete the sale/sign contract and/or who will completely waste your time by being a no show/ghosting you on either estimate or actual install date. We dealt with vendors who refused to provide a written estimate, who severely lacked communication skills (couldn't even send text messages or return calls), who LIED about products being in stock (when in actuality they were on back order) and some who even demanded FULL payment before install date (if you encounter a vendor like this, RUN fast and DO not go with them!!!!!!) Mr. Carpet Shop At Home is NOT one of these unreliable businesses- they are the COMPLETE opposite- organized, punctual, HONEST, polite, reliable and professional. They're not the cheapest, or the most expensive, but they are likely the one the MOST honest carpet/flooring companies out there (if not #1!) that you can depend upon to have someone come out and give you a free estimate while also BEING very honest about availability of product. The office lady who does a lot of the scheduling is also very polite, has excellent communication skills, and is very candid about time frames/product availability- this is EXTREMELY important, esp. for developers like us who have many projects going on simultaneously and who absolutely no room in our schedules to tolerate the many lies dished out from many of the other carpet/flooring vendors in the Chicago area! I've wanted to write this review for some time now but needed to make sure I had several weeks to live with my new carpet. I was so pleased with the quality of carpets presented to me during my appointment with Bob. He took his time in listening to what I wanted and even after I made my decision on color, came out a second time when I changed my mind. They ordered my carpet from the mill and were able to install it on the date that worked for me. Installation was quick and easy with their team, they did my whole condo in about 4 hours. The cost for my carpet was higher than some of the competitors but there are a couple reasons why. Mr Carpet has better quality, better guarantees and amazing customer service. The last reason is why I'm writing this review. The day after the carpet was installed, I noticed a couple areas where the carpet strands were the wrong color ie. grey, instead of light cream. It was noticeable to me and so I emailed Mary right away. She got back to me immediately and continued to stay in contact with me step by step as her team and an inspector came out to see if they could remedy the problem. Finally, Mary and Mr Carpet were able to offer me options to resolve the issue in a manner that was suitable to me. It is rare to find companies with such attention to detail, who value their customers and have the follow through even after they have been paid in full. I had an excellent experience with Mr. Carpet. I already knew which carpet and carpet pad I wanted and they were able to order it immediately. They were very reasonably priced and very easy to work with. There was a bit of a delay on our carpet pad, but Mary regularly updated us with production and shipping information. When it came to installation, the guys were in and out in less than two hours, hauled everything away, and left our entryway cleaner than when they arrived. Bob Altmayer and Mary have been absolutely incredible to work with. Mary responds within minutes and even got my appointment moved up at short notice. Bob was fantastic - very professional, competent, courteous, and a great listener to my needs. He showed me only what was relevant instead of overwhelming me with too many choices. I wanted to shop around for quotes and samples with at least a few providers, so had set up the appointment with no expectation of placing an order. But Bob was so darn good that I just didn't think there was a reason to keep shopping. Perhaps most important, he wasn't pushy - when I expressed hesitation to buy today, he immediately stepped back and told me to take my time, but some combination of the grace with which he did it and the quiet confidence he exuded (as if he knew this was the right choice for me and that I'd go back to him) compelled me to place the order on the spot. If you ever meet him, you'll know this doesn't mean he's a smooth operator, but rather that he genuinely cares about people making the right decision and is willing to let them come to the realization of best fit on their own. Instead of pressure tactics, he focused on listening and responding in ways that built his credibility. He even called me back at 8pm because I messaged their Yelp page with a minor worry (which he addressed and resolved right away). I'll have to update this review after they install the carpet, but didn't want to miss the opportunity to capture such a rare experience and give him kudos for a job spectacularly done. Found this company by "googling" carpets in Chicago. Got an immediate call back from Mary, who was able to help me schedule an appointment for someone to come to my apartment with various samples. Bob showed up ON TIME, and with a great range of carpet options in my preferred color and texture. I selected and and he called the warehouse to be sure it was in stock and could be delivered within my preferred time frame. The delivery was this morning and I was texted an estimated arrival time about an hour in advance. The two installers were wonderful, they even vacuumed the floor where the old rugs had been before they put down the new rugs (I had carpeting cut and bound to use as area rugs). They put all the furniture back in place and measured to be sure it was all symmetrical. Can't think of one negative. read more

Let me just say, in the past we had MAJOR issues for the simplest big company requests. Tried working with Luna (horrible), Empire (horrible and sam company actually), Home Depot (bad experience), etc. Mr. Carpet proved to be super easy, affordable still, and fast. They popped out after an email request within days to show us some samples. We picked those and a few weeks later (since they had to me manufactured (but in USA), they came back and did the install. They did a great job on two staircases where we wanted wood to still show on sides and a bedroom. Excellent quality carpet, no horrible smells, and install was fast. The 3-4 guys that showed up really did good work, knew their field, and we appreciate that. Will repeat business if needed with these guys, if can't escape the horrid city of Chicago and state of Illinois first, but that is a whole other topic ;-) read more
