In a strip mall with decent parking. Place was clean, bathroom was spotless. The food was pretty good. The pupusas were the star... big and filled perfectly. We had the Desayuno Maya, the Tipico, a couple of pupusas and the chicharron with fried yuca. The breakfasts were great. Eggs, blended beans, sour cream, cheese, etc. I thought the chicharron could have used a little more seasoning. But the fried yuca was delicious! The service is why there is a star missing. And I almost took off 2 stars, it was so bad. They had us sit ourselves and just pointed at a table. It took them 10 minutes to give us a menu. The food took a little too long to make. I was a waitress and didn't throw dishes, menus and utensils to the customers ( running to bring things, making a noise by putting the dishes on the table and rushing to leave the table). They bring appetizers with no extra plates to serve. Missing orders so what's the point of rushing us to order when they don't bring the items. Asking all the time what is needed on the table which items needed are common sense/ routine to serve a table. Waitress talking to customers over other tables... I like to tip service above 30% but sadly I didn't feel it this time. If you are new I will understand if you kindly let the customers know ahead of time. With all being said, this was not acceptable customer service. I will continue supporting our Salvadoreans Restaurants but please improve the service. So sad... I gave them 5 stars last time. I recently went for some pupusas and was very disappointed. They hardly put any chicharron and I believe they are using a cheaper cheese. It was definitely less salty, less flavor. Same greasyness (a good thing) but the amazing flavor I boasted about previously, was not there. I have been gatekeeping this business because it's my go-to pupusa spot and I'm here to make it right. The pupusas here are so freaking good. Not too greasy, just the right amount. My favorite thing to get is the Rapidito. It comes with two smaller size pupusas (but still pretty big IMO, a side of frijoles, and platano frito!!! You can request the pupusas with ANY filling. It hits the spot! I get that to go for lunch. It comes with curtido - so good - and salsa. It's one of those comfort foods, ya know? Pupusas isn't the only thing they sell, either. They have a full menu of a variety of food. I've never actually ate there. The dining hall is quite big and looks comfortable. I see older folk there so you know it's good. They have TVs and I'm not sure if they have a full bar but they serve something. I spotted plantain chips in a bag on top of a case of pan dulce that looked good too. I feel like this would be a nice spot to chill, have good food and a beer or something. Today, I ordered two Rapiditos on the Yelp app but it didn't let me choose the filling of the pupusas, so I called. They knew exactly what I was talking about. They told me they'd tell la Señora. I had been eyeballing this place for a long time as well and since I was in the area, I decided to stop by and just get some since I saw this place had great reviews. I called head and placed an order for 6 pupusas mixtas. Got there in less than 20 minutes and my order was still being worked on. Waited a few more minutes and was told they'd be out soon. Got them after waiting only 5 minutes and still had to make a 25 min drive home. I surprised my husband with them and he was a bit surprised since we've never ate pupusas the years we have been together (11 plus). I was happy to see they were still REALLY hot and not all soggy being in the styrofoam tray. These pupusa were A M A Z I N G! They were much bigger than I anticipated and I was full with 2. Coming here reminds me of my trip to El Salvador. There's a word that I use all the time that's not a real word but you know what it means when I say it authenticgente ! I'm sure you can figure out it means really authentic. That's what I called Crystal language. You think in El Salvador they would have Pupusas on every corner. Turns out they only eat it for breakfast. Today in Downey California you can get it anytime of the day. Along the side with Casamento which means marriage of the Beans and rice , perfect right. There's plenty of delicious things but don't you dare leave this place without getting fried bananas you will definitely be missing out if you don't ! Authenticgente!!! It's Friday, 4:40 pm and I just got back with my order only to find out they didn't give me what I ordered. When I called the restaurant , I spoke to a woman named "Linda". Linda acknowledged they made a mistake but said that I could drive back to pick up the right order. Even when I mentioned that I was working and I couldn't, her attitude was like "oh well, your loss". She said there were no managers there and didn't allow me to speak to anyone else. I even had to ask her to write a note for the manager but she didn't Linda, or whoever you are, you should not be trusted to manage customers. You offered no good solutions and your attitude was horrible. You expect the customer to eat whatever you give them, not what they paid for, and at your convenience.
