I lived in the area for over 40 years and have passed by this location many times. I never noticed this hidden gem that had been there for 27 years. There were so many missed opportunities to dine here when I was literally down the street for so many years. Thankfully, my niece had a performance at a nearby school, so the Yelp app helped us find this restaurant. Pescado Dorado is located in a small strip mall in Sant Fe Springs. It's on the corner of Telegraph Road and Orr and Day. It's tucked in the back, near a small walkway that leads to the back. Parking is challenging because the parking lot is very tight. Upon walking in, you'll notice that it's spacious. There are plenty of tables to seat maybe 10 families. They also have some seats near the register for those who are placing takeout orders. If you have children with you, bring some quarters for the gum ball and trinket machines. The menu consists of traditional Mexican food, but the ingredients are not heavy. I appreciated this! I ordered the garlic shrimp with rice. I asked if it was the red Mexican rice that is cooked in tomato sauce. They said no, theirs is better and that I would love it! Given how much I love red Mexican rice, I wasn't sure if I'd like what they were serving. When our meals came, they were picture perfect! I tried the rice first and it was delicious! It seemed to have been cooked in broth, which gave it incredible flavor! It was better than the red Mexican rice! They even came over to see if I liked the rice! So delicious! The shrimp was grilled perfectly and didn't have w fishy flavor. The garlic sauce was perfect and not heavy at all. It complimented the shrimp so well. I even had a little bit on my rice and it made the flavor pop even more. I am bummed because I missed out on Pescado Dorado for so many years. However, I know that I can stop by again when my nieces have more performances. This is going to be my go to place for dinner when I'm in the area!

Since it was my first time here, he took the time to walk me through the menu and make recommendations. His friendly attitude and patience really made me feel at home. Came here on my lunch break. I ordered three tacos (fried shrimp, grilled fish, and beef) and the owner threw in a complimentary fish soup for me to try. I really liked the soup. It reminded me of a Nigerian dish called pepper soup. Grilled fish taco was super good. The fried shrimp taco was just okay. I'll probably get it grilled next time. Carne asada was decent, but this place is known for their seafood. So I probably should've stuck to that anyway. The owner was very nice and spent time telling me about the history of this family-owned restaurant. I'll be back to try more of the menu!

I utilized Pescado Dorado catering for my event to serve 100 guests. The food was great & the service was exceptional! Taco bar & salsa bar served up savory carne asada, chicken, Al pastor, fish and a vegetarian option. Rice, beans, tortillas, several types of salsas and condiments were also provided. If you need an event catered, think of Pescado Dorado and call John the Catering Manager. He will take care of you. Even if you don't have an event, try the restaurant, the food is great!

They also have non seafood options as well! The chicken taco was great and boasting with flavors. The fish taco was not fishy at all. Just lean protein flavored so well and tasted so fresh! Even the rice and beans were delicious and it felt like overall such a nice and healthy meal! It left us feeling light, refreshed and energized, which was amazing because I don't like being in food comas Can't forget about the michelada!!! Yum yum yummmm! We'll definitely be back! I will become a regular customer here! The service is EXCEPTIONAL!!!! I am currently 8.5 months pregnant struggling to get in and out of my car and needed to send my son in to pick up my phone order. I was amazed to see the owner walk out with my son to ensure he made it safely to my car along with my receipt. He was so kind to my son and myself. Prior to coming his customer service on the phone when I placed the order was so gentle and friendly. Now let's talk about the food because wow!!!! The shrimp burrito is phenomenal and delicious. What can I possibly say about this place other than I was so upset. I was so upset that this gem was next to my house for years and I never tried them! This place has a humble look to it. You walk in, it's open seating, ceramic tile floors, single TV, and a few booths. I'll tell you what though, what it may lack in looks, it makes up for in food and service. I ordered the fried fish for myself and shrimp/fish soup for my wife and daughter. The fish was moist, it was perfectly cooked, and wonderfully seasoned. The soup was a tomato base soup but the fish was cooked well and the shrimp was cooked beautifully. Not rubbery and overcooked like most soups. The gentlemen running the restaurant was kind and hospitable. Helped put together tables for my family and friends. Always checked on us to make sure everything was okay. This place for sure is a can't miss and I can't wait to go back. Sidebar, you wanna bring something to a potluck? Just order a large side of rice from this place. Question are the people who are going here on crack? Mayhe they died because this place was a ghost town at lunchtime I paid 5 dollars each for Sysuco partial fish stock tacos yes at a Mexican fish taco spot. That's their fish taco. I was on the 105 and hungry and sick of traffic so apple maps pulled through on adding a food stop. I felt like I was a cousin... the gentleman at the front was so nice and welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Based on their Yelp rating, I expected good fish tacos but it was far better than that. I went on Saturday afternoon just after 2:00. The person working the register was talking with someone in the back and simultaneously taking my order without missing a thing. I wanted fish tacos but wasn't sure about fried versus grilled, he recommended grilled. The manager's special came with 2 large tacos, rice, beans, chips, and a drink. The tacos had grilled fish, onions, and bell peppers; the flavor was fantastic. Everything else that accompanied the meal was very good, it was a great lunch. Food is amazing! The first time we came, they gave us a sample of their vuelve a la vida assorted soup and we definitely ordered it the next time we came. Their ceviche is incredibly tasty and their oysters are so fresh. Not briney/fishy whatsoever. Great place to try oysters for the first time, because you won't be disappointed. Service is always on point and friendly. The restaurant has a TV and they will play important sporting events. Micheladas are delicious as well. My partner and I stumbled upon this place on a random Sunday night drive back home and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was much bigger than expected, and it was empty but deserves to be packed! Chef Victor personally walked us through the entire menu, and you can tell how passionate he is for his food. We got the mixed ceviche, mixed seafood soup with rice and avocados, baja fish taco, grilled fish taco, and a michelada. Portions were very filling, seafood tasted fresh and clean, and small details like the unique rice, house-made salsa and the michelada mix, made it all feel special. On top of that, Chef Victor's service was amazing, as if we were already regulars at his restaurant. Definitely coming back! read more

I've visited this place 3 times already. I order the mojarra frita and it's delicious along with the rice and beans. The service is great. Very friendly and attentive. Our car broke down @1pm. Just waiting for family to rescue us. We decided to that it's time to eat @5pm From the outside looking in we were really exhausted, undecided we thought of walking away. But we didn't cause of their generosity and friendliness something we needed actually. I guessed we dressed the part .. they offered their restroom and their specials for the day. I ordered the shrimp taco Baja style and 2 fish tacos . The shrimp taco is $5.29 he said came with 7 shrimp. I received 2 burnt breaded shrimp that were small and smashed down and a fish stick. The 2 fish tacos are not fresh battered they are fish sticks. Horrible flavor. Absolutely terrible. The worst fish and shrimp tacos I have ever had and this place is supposed to specialize in seafood. I came because it had 4.5 stars and for those of you who look to eat based on stars, this is not the place. Terrible I didn't even finish my food because it tasted terrible. read more

Let me tell you the service is amazing! John Anthony was so sweet. He gave my son some rice on the side with his pollo taco (it doesn't come with it). He also gave him a little bowl of sopita and rice ( my son was a little sick). On top of that he was so accommodating with our food requests. And the best part, the food is delicious! We had the super burrito de asada y de al pastor and it was so good. They have delicious salsas that go perfect with the food. The eating areas were all clean and very cute with all the fish decor. We had the best seafood soup at lunch today! I should have ordered a portion for dinner too. Fish tacos and burritos were pretty amazing too. Top notch hospitality too... My meal was phenomenal. Got the grilled fish tacos and the seafood soup. Soup was really really satisfying to eat. Their service is on point. They really take care of us. Very solid place. Perfect for me and my crew when we work in the area. They also have great deals that varies on the day. Also really like their decor. Definitely will be taking frequent visits. read more

Meet the Business Owner: Victor C.

Victor Covarrubias has been apart of Pescado Mojado since the very beginning. As the restaurant began to expand throughout the years his hard work and dedication has giving him the opportunity to finally open one of his own in January of 1999. Along side with his wife and sons, they have made what is now known as Pescado Dorado of Santa fe Springs into one of the "Best Spots" in the city to eat.

I went on a taco run yesterday to try to find the best taco in Whittier…read more Started off the run with a keto taco mixed with asada and al pastor and then a regular tripa taco. Keto taco - toasted/grilled cheese instead of a regular tortilla - needed to be done a little more on one side as the cheese wasn't quite toasty enough to stay in place to slightly resemble the shape of a taco. Bit hard to eat, covered my hands in grease. Asada tastes almost boiled, and this being my 2nd or 3rd time getting the Asada here, it consistently tastes like it was boiled and not grilled. Unsure of meat quality or preparation, but there are no grill marks and it's a bit chewy. Same with the al pastor. Tripa taco was bizarre. Strips of flat skin instead of the usual roundish, cylindrical shape of tripa (intestine). Usually a saltier, fattier meat than asada, which is my preference but the one here was lacking in flavor and the texture threw me off a bit. Tripa can be chewy - unless requested extra done, which is how I normally order it - but there was no saving this tripa. I think it needs to be sliced differently, the cuts made it inedible. Brother shared some of his chorizo taco and it was the better of the bunch. Red chorizo, TJ style, although it was also lacking a teeny bit in flavor... onions and cilantro to the rescue! Still, mediocre. Salsas were ok, nothing out of the ordinary. Don't think the tortillas were homemade. Service was fine, cashier takes your order, dude at the counter was chill and had a friendly attitude. Seating was limited. Mostly bar style seating but the majority was in front of a window and it had so much heat trapped from the glass that it was kind of uncomfortable. Other seats are too close to the bathroom. Good for a quick bite or just pick-up orders. Wouldn't plan a sit down/dine-in visit. Parking is scarce and has really small spots, wouldn't come if you're driving a pick-up truck or anything like that. Food was reasonably priced, which is good, however; the food was lacking so I would not return.

I can see parking being a little crazy on super busy days but other than that if in the Santa Fe Springs area I highly recommend. Oh and for whatever this is worth the female wait staff were all very cute and good looking girls!

Casual cozy corner lunch spot…read more I'll be honest, I'm a bit jealous of the surrounding offices in this plaza. Top Ten Menu is the only eating establishment in the business park so it easily provides the supply for the demand - a good lunch spot, with plentiful indoor seating and optional outdoor seating in a cool, shaded corner. I'd love to work in this plaza just to be able to enjoy a quiet, tranquil lunch with some fresh food and fresh air. Got lunch for some coworkers and myself and our total came out to $47 and some change. We ordered a: turkey avocado sandwich, 1 beef bibambap bowl, and 2 fish tacos a la carte. Averages to about $15/person - solid, especially for the quality. I can't vouch for the sandwich or tacos as I did not personally try them (thanks for sharing guys, /s) but I will say the bibambap bowl was a massive hit for me. Thing was enormous. I lift weights (slight flex on y'all) but means my appetite is a little higher than average. I still managed to get two meals out of the bowl. It was jam packed with veggies, an egg, beef, all on a bed of rice. Whole thing was beautifully seasoned you wouldn't even know you're eating mostly vegetables. I added jalapeños to mine - and it goes great, nice little kick to the whole dish. Only sucky thing is that this dish is only available on Wednesdays - but I suppose that adds to the appeal slightly as it's worth the wait. Also makes for a nice treat if you're like me and don't like eating out too often. I'm really glad I finally got to try bibambap - and happy to report my first experience with it highly exceeded expectations and I was incredibly happy with the quality, quantity, and overall flavor of the bowl. Also came with a side of miso soup - my favorite! Had tons of tofu so I was super full after lunch and had leftovers as I was unable to finish the bibambap bowl entirely. Interior was clean and spacious. Service was smooth - ordered ahead, then just paid at the front. Overall, great experience and look forward to trying more from the diverse menu. Second time was just as good as the first time. This was also probably the first time I've ever gone out of my way to order a sandwich knowing full well that I could order something else in the menu. I'm usually not a sandwich guy. The bread was crunchy, the cheese was cheesy, bacon doing its thing, and the grilled turkey had no business of being that good. If I had an infinite amount of money, I'd probably just be ordering that for lunch everyday until I throw up and order something else. Most of the time I only see one person behind the counter, whom I assume is the business owner. That man is handling business like there's no tomorrow. He'll be answering phones, taking orders, making order, and serving the orders all at once. Give the man his roses!

Since we moved to Santa Fe Springs last year my wife and I have been searching for good Mexican food and FINALLY found it. Truly a hidden gem. Shrimp cocktail had more flavor than the ones we just got in Mexico, and the owner was great! Guacamole on the house for our first time, wrapped extra chips when we said we had to go, very friendly and knowledgeable. We will DEFINITELY be back and would recommend it to anyone and defy you to find better Mexican food. read more

I am in love with their Ceviche! it is the best i have tried. the taste reminds me of my families ceviche but better. The staff is extremely polite. The restaurant is clean to perfection, and there is some flat screens showing some sports and news for your entertainment if you decide to stay and eat. The menu is very detailed on the meals with photos showing how it is prepared on a plate. I recommend going if you like seafood. read more

the fish taco spot. you already know what makes a great fish taco: fresh ingredients prepared the right way served on a crispy and fluffy tortilla maiz with fresh salsa that has the right flavor and heat. the staff is super friendly, the location is convenient, clean and the food is top notch. don't be a dork. eat here for good mex. that's all i have to say about that. read more

We went there for dinner, the other night the service was phenomenal and the food was by far better than I have had at any Mexican restaurant. The shrimp contain was the bomb. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who truly loves authentic Mexican food. read more

They need to work on their micheladas, not what I expected on the shrimp tacos, I thought they were going to be beer battered. I'll come eat here again I'll give the fish a try. the service it'd pretty good. some food items are pricey not all. read more
