    Vegan enchiladas

I could tell that my colleagues were a little unsure about Luna Mexicana when we arrived. I guess it doesn't look like much from the outside. I led the way and after we entered we were told that we could sit anywhere. We chose a table near the bar. I could tell right away that this place was legit because of the diverse clientele and the fact that the bar had Buchanan's scotch on the shelf. I happen to live in Southern California, where authentic Mexican restaurants are plentiful. I also happen to be vegan, and the reason I suggested Luna Mexicana was because of their vegan menu. I chose the enchiladas, and two of my companions picked non-vegan enchiladas. We sipped tasty, refreshing margaritas and munched on housemade tortilla chips and salsa while we waited for our food to arrive. Service was friendly and pretty fast. Unfortunately, they were out of vegan sour cream, but my enchiladas did come with plant-based cheese, and I almost thought that I was back in Baja. These flavors were the real deal. Now, I loved the salsa verde, but I can take the heat. My poor coworker really couldn't eat her dinner because it was way too spicy for her. You have been warned. Trust me, if you like real Mexican food, you will love Luna Mexicana. Bring your vegan friends (they will love it too!)

Ordered mole and this is what was brought to the table, basically the scraps. No actual drumstick or thigh. Super watered down, presentation was bad, they could've atleast put it in a smaller plate.. Also ordered the tampiqueña and the meat was tough, and hard, I requested it medium and it was super well done, told our waitress, she apologized but didn't offer a discount or anything, we paid and left. Drinks were good. That's it. It's pretty inside

I went to an event around there and the closes restaurant there was this one so decided to order from there just to find out the place was shut down. The restaurant is closed down and says open online while still letting you place an order. Made an online order to pick up and went down the street to pick it up just to find out the place was closed. Tried calling the store and nobody was picking up for the past three days. If the restaurant has no business no more they can at least put up a sign saying it's closed or not allow you to do any online orders.

We happened to stumble upon this place today looking last minute for a place to eat and BOY AM I GLAD WE DID. It is SOOOOOOO good, the atmosphere is great in there, they're super hospitable and sweet. God bless the cooks because everything she made was awesome. We had the giant quesadilla, the parilla for two, the tacos, burritos and it was all incredible! The lemonade with chia is also a goo choice of drink, pina colada was bomb. Basically....check this place out you will not regret it.

Vegan enchiladas with Daiya cheese, soy chorizo, vegan sour cream, and potatoes. Delicious!

Delicious vegan Mexican food! They have soy chorizo, Daiya cheese, vegan sour cream. They can make tacos, burritos, quesadillas, gorditas, enchiladas. Can't wait to go back and try other menu items.

Cafe de Olla, tasted a little burnt but the effort was nice.

Authentic simple and good Mexican food. No frills, nothing fancy, just the bare bones. They have such cute decor and attention to detail. Staff is friendly and it's a family environment. I've had the camarones al mojo de ajo, which are garlicky shrimp and they're always exquisite! Great portions for the price, margaritas are yummy and salsas are spicy!

This is some of the best Mexican food I've had. The portions for the price is generous and the flavors are well balanced, delicious, and your can tell the ingredients are quality and fresh. I had a steak huarache and it was generously topped and the base was hand made, soft and flavorful. The steak was a good texture and had so much flavor! My husband got the tampequeña. The steak was well seared, juicy, and delicious. The cheese enchiladas were generous and flavorful, and the rice was the best Mexican rice we've ever had. I usually skip out on rice at Mexican restaurants beacuse its so dry and bland, but my husband insisted I try this! It was moist and cheesy and so flavorful. The beans were fresh and a good texture. The cotija cheese they use is full of flavor too! My dad got the camarones rancheros and he said the shrimp were well cooked, great texture, very flavorful. He got so many too! He said the fries were excellent too. The decor is lovely and the tables and benches are beautifully crafted. The staff is kind and we truly enjoyed our meal. We will be back 100%... we used to have a favorite Mexican place in Joliet... that has changed now!

It gets the job done - the Burrito had some excitment, but the rest of the experience left…read moresomething to be desired. I'd ordered a Steak Diablo Burrito and a Margarita. Chips and salsa were complimentary at the start of the meal. Before you come after me for looking a gift horse in the mouth: Chips & Salsa aren't technically free, the cost is baked into the meal on the back-end. That said, the quality of these was subpar. The chips were straight out of a bag, the the salsa resembled a thick tomato juice with stuff added more than something deserving the name "salsa." I also did not love the Margarita, for it was too sweet for my taste. I can't say for sure, but I have the unfounded suspicion that these are pre-made in large quantities. The main event was the Steak Diablo Burrito. True to form, the Diablo sauce brought the heat. If you are one for whom Tabasco sauce is at the upper end of your limits, you might want to skip this one. My heat tolerance is such that I needed a little extra water, not a side-order of sour cream. The filling did not skimp on the meat whatsoever, and the protein was tender to boot. While not 'S' tier, I would put it solidly in 'B' territory, with a pinky toe into 'A'. A good test is that I couldn't finish, and happily devoured it cold the next day. The interior is large, and has mostly amber lighting with splashes of color, and some traditional-looking architectural elements. The service was friendly and reasonably fast. Final verdict: If you're itching for a great burrito, while perhaps not the greatest one in the world, La Mex can deliver. However, This comes at a cost of a too-sweet Margarita and chips and salsa leave something to be desired. Recommended? Yes, as a general-purpose Mexican spot. Would Return? Yes, but would skip chips, salsa, and margs.
