Pros: Was able to get a a decent markdown on a pre-owned copy of something fairly new. The woman handling my transaction was very nice Cons: I sold some games here at the same time, and this is on me, but I should have checked all the bills before leaving. One of the $5 bills they gave me was fake, and even counting that 5, they short changed me by a few dollars of what they said. I tried selling a wii u and a ps2 (fully functional). The employee turned them on and gave them back and just said that they can't take them. No explanation what's so ever to what was wrong with the consoles and why they would not buy them The guy also gave me bad vibes, like he did not want to service me. overall kind of rude. Thats what happens when you hire nerds with poor social skills to run a store. I also tried selling them 2 gamecube games, xmen the official game and the matrix. Their GameCube game selection is honestly pretty poor other than a few overpriced titles that they keep behind the cash register, so I thought they would be eager to take them, but they didn't. I couldnt even tell you because despite them closing at 8pm, they basically closed at 7pm. A couple of other people and myself were waiting for someone to open because of the "be back in 5 minutes" sign but no one ever came back except to close. Save your time and money. Things have been looking up lately so I decided I would replace my PSP. Always fun playing video games on the go, having an extra mp3 player. I used to live in La Mesa, and the Luna over there told me this place had a PSP for me; I was in luck, it was a 1000 model (Plug and play emulation, IR remote sensor) The guy behind the counter was acting like I was interrupting his League game. He opens the case and gets the PSP out and holds onto the charger while I'm inputting my card; I get that, but I'm trying to look the thing over while he's going 'can you put your pin in?' Excuse me, you're selling me a used console. I get to look this thing over before giving you $120 (No one told me how much until the system was in my hand) and then homeboy is rushing me through the sale without at least talking shop with me. A guy behind me needed a console repair; I don't care. I gave you $120. Give me solid business. This entire quarantine generated people who don't even enjoy their jobs. Finally got to stop by their new location in Chula Vista, and it was a pretty cool experience. Drove past it at first, so I had to use the Maps to guide me to it. Has a parking lot, and is right next to a Mexican restaurant, so keep a look out when you're on the search for it. They've got a pretty wide selection of games, ranging from all the different consoles throughout the years from Nintendo, Atari, XBOX, PlayStation and more, in addition to the actual consoles themselves (or if you just want the original boxes, you can buy those separately as well). Prices are reasonable, similar to the market price for items, so it's nice of them to not overcharge on their games. You know, the rarer/older a game is, it sometimes jumps in price as well. I ended up getting The Sims on GameCube (since I've lost my original PC version years ago and I had a hankering to play it again this weekend) in addition to the latest "Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" for the Wii U, which I was amazed was the cheapest I've ever seen for a used copy. Wasn't sure on ever getting the game anytime soon, but I knew it was a deal to not be missed. Staff was super friendly and offered lots of help and the whole check out process was a cinch. Overall, it was a great experience, and I'll be to drop by the next time I'm in the area to check out their everchanging inventory. read more

Ive been to a lot of retro gaming stores as it is one of my favorite hobbies. This place could be great but suffers from massive price gouging. Ive bought stuff from them mint in box and tried to sell it back later in the exact same condition, never opened, and get offered pennies on the dollar. The employees are usually nice and helpful but they dont have many of the things you might expect and are on the level of gamestop when it comes to trying to screw their customers. This place is decent if you're looking for random games you might find at a garage sale for the past few generations, and its worth a look around if thats your interest. However if you're looking for anything specific I would highly recommend calico games instead because they have better games, more fair prices, a more robust inventory overall, and will not try to screw you over. read more

Lazy and incompetent workers here, I called to fix my broken PS5 HDMI which they claimed they could fix, took my ps5 in and they spend 2 and half weeks just to tell me they didn't have anyone who knew how to fix a broken PS5 HDMI port. Why waste my time if you guys don't even have someone who is well skilled enough at their job at repairing consoles? Whoever your repair guy is, you need to fire him and get someone who's better equipped at their job and who can fix newer generation consoles. Also, the selection of retro games here can be good, there's some hidden gems at times but often they get quickly sold out and I notice it takes you guys MONTHS to restock popular retro games or consoles. Not to mention you guys over price some of these retro items for way more than it's worth compared to online. It wouldn't hurt you guys to make more affordable deals and keep your inventory in stock regularly. Not to mention, you guys need better technicians. Whoever is running this business needs to keep up the pace and get better staff or else they're digging their own grave to keep up with bigger businesses like GameStop lol. read more

The store is clean, the prices are fair, and the employees are helpful. What really brings them down is their selection of games. Came in considering getting a SNES, but decided against it when I saw my options for games were Megaman X, its expensive sequels, and a bunch of shovelware. Also thought about getting a Gamecube, preferably with a Gameboy player, but they didn't have one. Only retro console I have at the moment is GBA, so I decided to check out their selection for that. Lots of options, but again, mostly just movie tie-ins and other crap not really worth your time. Consoles are only as good as their games, but this store is pretty lacking in desirable games. Been here a few times and I intend to return, but it would be nice if they tried getting more of the games people actually want. read more

This place is pretty chill, I live over 2 hours from here so it's not a normal ride going to and from. Well, I actually fucked up, my buddy went to the wrong location. We went to a different location at the time, it was some Adx place or whatever off Vista that ripped us off. During the time we went to the Goodwill and a few other locations like a Swap Meet over at Orange Coast College. Not really a lucky place to go because you're digging in bins. We decided to drive a little longer the next weekend, mainly because we really wanted to see if my friend's copy of Turtles in Time worked properly. We were like, fuck it, went to Luna the next time. I guess the guy thought we were getting money for the items but we wanted to see if it worked properly and got the right adapters. It wasn't really busy, but I told the guy how much I paid for the stuff and it didn't even have the right adapter. He was telling us which adapters worked better with the modern television sets, other little information like how light guns didn't work on the newer television sets. He basically told us shit we should be aware of or why it wouldn't work with our setup. We ended up buying used controllers, and it felt strange when the guy asked me how much I paid for some games and most of the time he's like, "I would have sold you that way cheaper." I doubt the controller I had worked because it sounded like a salt shaker, but he hooked the system up and told me that I could use an older adapter or buy a brand new one. I'm like fuck it, bought the new one, and we bought a couple games. It was a simple transaction but unlike the Adx store this guy made sure the system, controllers and games worked fine before I left, and he gave me a discount. So now I have a functional Super Nintendo, and I can't complain because it all works fine and I have clean controllers. The other good part about this store is they have all the new games, it's not just retro games. Either way, fuck Adx, I had a good experience here. read more

Up until I found out about Calico Gaming further north, I settled for this disaster of a store. Their stock is a joke because they don't want to accept much of anything you'll bring in to sell. This isn't what decided stop me from coming however. It's the only person who seems to work here who's the biggest issue, heavy set guy who is determined to go out of his way to make sure you have the worst experience. He may or may not greet you when you enter, he has no interest in making conversation with you whatsoever, he will not go out of his way to give you more than a "yes" or "no" answer, and the last time I came, he ignored every single thing I said and only spoke to tell me the price of my purchase. I strongly encourage you to go to Calico Gaming, they have a few locations in San Diego and all of them have employees who are super passionate about gaming, will go out of their way to help you find what you're looking for and are eager to buy all of your items with very few restrictions on what they can buy. read more

Hmmmm...4 reviews, 2 five star and 2 one star...how bad could it be...I would give it less than one star if Yelp let's me... I finally made some time out of my busy schedule to go to this place. Easy to get to, plenty of parking, well lit, it was clean, so far so good. Then everything went downhill from there.. I was the other customer there at 2PM on a Saturday. I walked in, the employee stared at me, sat right down, and went on his phone. I was browsing around and everything seemed overpriced, including sports titles. I asked a question in regards to something, but he was giving me none of his time. I was trying to look at the items behind the counter. He saw that I was struggling to see some of the pricing, and he still wouldn't help me. I was thinking of picking up a few things, but I was so insulted that I dropped everything I had and just walked out. I would normally thank people when I walk out of stores, but this dude don't deserve it. Was a total waste of time...not worth the trouble. Top notch customer service is what drives local business, but this guy is hurting that rep....I star for this Luna Games. I'll keep coming back to the El Cajon location. I had the misfortune of dragging my carcass to the El Cajon Blvd location on the day where they bought a whole lot of used games from customers before me so the store didn't have cash by the time I got there so they couldn't buy the bulk of what I was selling. Which happens no biggie . The staff was so great they apologized (which wasn't necessary ) and basically told me to go to the Chula Vista location. I'm not a collector so I don't know the value of most of these games nor do I expect to make a fortune. Just needed cash and the shelf space. I got more than a fair amount of cash for my goods and the guy who was manning the store and helped me out was super great ( I'm pretty sure he was the owner.) This place is horrible. Prices waaaaaaaay too high and employees waaaaaaaay too rude. They pay like nothing for the games and charge way too much. I get they need to make a profit to pay bills but this is not realistic. They wanted $50 just to look at my console that I needed repaired. I took it down the street to a repair shop and it was only $30 to fix. Who knows what the store would have charged for the actual repair. DONT WASTE YOU TIME HERE!!! read more
