Awful experience. Cart broke down on the 9th and had to walk back with all my stuff. Grass in the rough was 8+ inches long, zero chance of finding a ball not hit in the fairway. Every green was about 70% sand. Had to wait 10-15 minutes at every tee box. No marshals to help speed things along. Not remotely worth the price. Probably not worth half the price read more

Played all 18 holes and walked push cart so I was able to soak in the grounds more clearly. Hole 2 was the wettest hole, 11 was muddy. Few others too. Can't imagine coming here after it rains, must be dirty. Overall easier course than Tenison, it's kept well. Grass was mowed. I would be back They do have grass range here but you have to buy the bucket and walk all the way there and back read more

From a purely golf standpoint, this course is one of the better values in DFW. I played over the last weekend, and aside from some standing water on hole 10, the course was in pretty good shape. Grass was mostly lush and green, and although there aren't a ton of "wow" holes, there is enough variety and scenic, tree-lined holes to have an enjoyable round. The carts aren't in the best of shape, and you have a gun range nearby that is a little bothersome, but again, from a purely golf perspective, this course is worth the trip for the value you get. Also, I would like to point out that Greg (I think was his name) was a super pleasant guy to talk to when I made my tee time. I'm sure answering phones can get old at a golf course, but he was a pleasant voice to chat with and didn't seem "put off" like most people sound when making a tee time. read more

Excellent muni course and incredible value, especially if you're looking for a quick 9. Fairways are in great shape, fun layout, and never too crowded (except the occasional weekend morning backup). My only gripe is a few greens in pretty rough shape and some flooding issues (blame the big freeze and city of Dallas). Also note that there's a shotgun range not far away... it's not a bloodbath between the bloods and crips. Shoutout to Greg in the pro shop for being an awesome dude! read more

Wow. I don't know where to start but this course needs some work. Unless your a professional golfer and hitting it in the fairway every time, your gonna loose a box of balls. Any time your ball goes barely into the rough, the chances of you finding it are 0%. The greens were not very smooth. However the people at the course are nice. read more

Wide open course with not many complex or winding fairways. It's hard to get to with the bad intersection of Luna & Royal and big rigs driving to and from a rock quarry or cement plant. The trucks and dust are one thing, but on the front 9 you feel like you're in a war zone because of the Las Colinas gun club backs up to the course!! Totally sucks. The staff is nice. I used to frequent this course but it has sadly gone down hill. We arrived at 5:09 to see a handwritten sign stating range closed. It has always been the practice at this course to sell the last bucket of balls at 1 hour before sunset. Today sunset was not until 6:20. The employee was rude and dismissed us not caring we were there to spend money and hit on the range. We saw 3 people after us walk up and buy range balls. Unfortunately I will no longer be playing at this course and I advise others to consider their customer service. read more

Decent enough for a city course. Extremely dry this summer, so there are huge, 2" to 4" cracks in the ground. But most greens and fairways were in decent enough shape. Two main issues. Access to the course is along Luna Road, which is little more than a goat path because of the heavy truck traffic along there. Virtually impassable when it's muddy. Come in from Royal Lane if you can. And I was disappointed by the significant amount of trash on the course. I'd blame much of that on the lack of trash receptacles on the holes, so careless people just toss down their cans, bottles, banana peels and other trash. Management can remedy that if they care. Finally, virtually half of the doors to the clubhouse are locked for some reason, including the main door in front. Bottom line, of all the Dallas city courses, this one I put dead last. read more

This is a well maintained golf course that is "fair." No gimmicks or tricks. It is fairly flat, so your ball will go where you aim and you can walk it. It has four sets of tees, so any golfer can find a set of tees that suits his or her game. The back nine is particularly scenic. The clubhouse is nice and the staff is friendly. The driving range is large and has flags at all distances, so you can practice with a purpose at hitting specific length shots. There is a huge putting green and a large pitching green with a sand bunker, so this makes Luna Vista one of the best practice and warm up facilities. There are quite a few small lakes, but if you keep them in mind, you can easily avoid them. If you don't get greedy, you can keep the ball in play and score decently. If you try to "go for it," you can get in trouble. I'm 72 and play from the senior tees, which makes the course enjoyable and playable. It's very affordable and a very good value. The golf carts are all in good condition and don't ever give out on you. The concession cart comes around often and there are portable restrooms on the course. In other words, all the basic things that a golfer wants are present. I see families playing at sundown on the weekends and that warms my heart. read more

I played here today with the guys from Double Bogey golf. I was really impressed with the condition of the course... Especially since the 2023 summer has been so brutal. The greens were super clean. The fairways were green and the tee boxes were well-maintained. The staff was awesome. We had a pretty good size group and they were really accommodating. This course does make you think a bit. Just when you think water isn't in Play... You put one off the side of the fairway and you're dropping a golf ball. Don't be too proud to take a shorter club off the Teebox. The green fees are reasonable and the beverage cart and snack bar are well-stocked. Don't forget to bring cash... The beverage cart doesn't take cards. read more

The pro staff here is tremendous. I highly recommend getting private lessons from Brooks Muse. He's very, very easy to understand, and will help your game tremendously! If you have the time, he will even play a full 18-36 holes with you and work on every aspect of your game ! read more

Stopped by for the first time to use the driving range. Friendly people at the front desk. Bought the extra large bucket for 13 - good price. Driving range is a bit of a walk, he gave me a cart. Greens and fairways looked good. I have a good impression. read more

I've played golf here more often than anywhere else and I really like it. When I first played it, it was early in the year so the grass was brown/dead. But this past summer, and even now, it's in excellent shape. Probably one of the best public courses I've ever played on. The old name to this place is "LB Houston" and some people still call it that. You'll even see some old signs on the road directing you there. But I really like this place. I go here all the time when I'm on my own and I always get paired up with interesting people. I know the course very well, and so I know what to expect and how to play it. I play well here because of that, and for me that's a good thing! The practice greens are big and in great shape. There's a separate chipping green area too. They'll call out your name if you're on the list for a tee time. I go as a single and I don't think I've had to wait more than 20 minutes, ever. Beer cart girls are around, the holes are varied and interesting and challenging. That water sure does sneak up on you, but I've gotten used to it. This is a great place and I'm glad I live near it!!! read more

Great track that got even better after the well needed renovations. Good tee boxes, good fairways, real good bunkers and great greens (with plenty of punishment surrounding them if you miss). Lots of mature trees and just enough water to keep you on your toes. Extremely well maintained course. The pro shop staff is a refreshing change as well - they're friendly, helpful and courteous (rare find for public golf pro shops). Nice snack bar too, with plenty of good beer choices at a decent price. read more

The course was was a bit dead when we played (dead as in the grass). Lies were incredibly tight, which bumps the difficulty up a notch. The layout is nothing extravagant, but the greens keep it interesting. The course condition was rough, albeit we did play on the tail end of winter. Everything is price quite well, and was happy to pay a reasonable price for a can of coke. It's not great, but it's not bad either. If you like golfing, you'll enjoy yourself here. read more

Horrible customer service. Booked a tee time with a quote of $60 for 2 players and 1 cart. Came in and they ended up charging $80 for two carts even though we used one. I showed them my reservation that had the quote for $60 and they still wouldn't honor it. $20 isn't that big of a deal, it's the fact they would rather sit there and argue with me and blame me for their mistake rather than taking care of $20 and having a happy customer. read more

Played here a few times. Course is in desperate need of love. But yesterday showed what a joke this place is. In the space of the first four holes, our group had a ball picked up and stolen three times! Once by staff! Actually called the clubhouse to complain about the ranger stealing a ball and it was explained away as a 'senior moment'. Go to Cedar Crest. Better facility. Course in much bette shape. And I've NEVER had someone steal my ball out of the fairway there! read more

This is one of my go to courses in Dallas. They have been killed with rain since beginning of 2015, but they have done well with managing everything. Pace of play is sometimes VERY slow and once in a while, the rain doesn't drain right. BUT, I do notice that they are constantly trying to improve everything. I can't wait to see the condition in a year or two. I am interested in having a fundraiser at this place, but I will keep searching. I would recommend this course for twilight or sunset times. It is a little to expensive for a course in the current condition. read more

Don't know why anyone is complaining. This is a newly renovated course undergoing regrowth and resettling. For a municipal course geared to those who are amateurs and not the experts some mistakenly believe themselves to be, this is a wonderful and friendly course. Works well for me. I can agree that speed of play could sometimes be improved. Written, posted and enforced rules could and would take care of that. Teach your marshals course control. Open hole in front and stacked in behind, you lose your tee privilege. Twosomes should expect to wait unless the foursome ahead waves you through. read more

Not the prettiest place, but great to work on your game for a good price. Walkers are welcome here, so that can provide for some slow play if you're riding a cart. There is a dog kennel nearby and a gun range, so those that need peace and quiet for every swing find another place to play. All in all it's a solid non intimidating course in the heart of the metroplex. read more

Nice little municipal. Never overly crowded. Number 10 hole on temp tees because of the flooding. Nice range and practice greens. My only complaint? The very worst clubhouse food in all of golf. Little no effort made in that regard. Hence you never see anyone hanging around. read more

Not bad for the sunset price but the greens were very hard and lumpy. Tee boxes were so stiff it's hard to get a tee in.

horrible course, multiple holes had massive "non intentional - ponds" in the middle of the fairway... nothing more frustrating than to have a perfectly straight 270 yrd drive.. that hits dead center in the fairway.. where poor drainage has turned the hole into a ditch.. btw it hasnt rained in 4 days.. read more

Ventured out to Luna Vista on a windy spring day, looking to walk 9+. I have a private club membership, but had driven by a number of times and always wanted to check it out. The pro shop guys were more polite than most you come across and that was a good way to start. The course was a bit of a different story... The layout has a better that decent layout, but maintenance leaves quite a bit to be desired. Please don't think that my bar is way high because of the mentioned private club membership, trust me, mowing the greens is a good thing to do for any course!!! The redesigned green complexes are fun and make for interesting/ challenging pin options, but on an unkept surface it's just a waste. Same for the fairways. I'm sure the city can spend a few more bucks at least MOW on a tighter schedule. Bunkers are good, but again, unkept. The second a just as disappointing/worrisome part was that it was only spring and the place was parched! What is the point of investing in a redo of a course that is obviously popular and skimp on mowing and watering??? This place has the potential to be on of the better, funner, walkable courses around, but fix the basics. read more

Like numerous other seniors, I want to be able to find a golf course that is walkable. LB Houston was that course. I'm not sure how many millions the City spent to upgrade the course that is now Luna Vista but all the improvements are not for walkers. For the quick break at the end of 9 holes, even the clubhouse is inconvenient For all the walkers.... there isn't a convenient bench anywhere and not being the fastest of courses, if crowded, walkers get tired, standing and waiting. The bathroom on the front 9 and back 9 are outhouses. The front 9 is set on a slight slope and I almost fell once. Convenient water fountains - forget that too. I think there is water on #4 and another on #15. Mostly, they changed some of the water hazards and made everything like ski moguls. Great for skiing. I'll play here because it is the closest to my house but I wish they had left it alone. Employees are nice. UPDATE: 12/20/13 The fence at the 18th hole now has been cut enabling one to walk through to the parking lot. Thanks for that improvement. Now only 6 more to go. read more

The golf course itself is not bad and was in decent shape. It was my first and last time there, however, due to the constant, incessant barrage of gunfire from the adjoining firing range. There is nowhere on the course that you can get away from the noise and distraction of weapons being fired. Regardless of your stance on guns, if you are looking for peace and quiet on a golf course, Luna Vista is not the place to find it. read more
