Always a great experience. I've gotten two hair cuts there, the first by Sage the second by Kate. Both experiences were effortless. As someone who is very picky about wanting a natural cut, both stylists took the time to walk through various options and make me feel comfortable. As a bonus- they have yummy local Atticus tea and awesome iPad magazines, which I love because it's super sustainable and let's me look at outside online and food magazines while I get my hair cut as opposed to the standard cosmopolitan. read more

When I arrived, I explained what I was looking for which was covering the regrowth, and Annika seemed to understand, saying it "sounded easy." She began applying foils then started removing them almost immediately after placing them. I politely asked whether my hair had lifted enough, as I'm usually placed under a dryer for 10-15 minutes to process. She replied, "I'm really slow at foils, so you should be ready." After rinsing, I could tell something was off right away--my hair looked significantly darker than before. When it came time for styling, I asked for a big, bouncy blowout, but instead my hair was dried mostly by hand with her raking her fingers through my hair, with only a few sections near my face touched up with a round brush. The result was brown, frizzy, and flat. When I expressed concern--especially since my hair appeared about four shades darker and still had a clear line where my roots were--she said, "This is what I had time for today. Sorry your hair didn't lift enough." It honestly feels like instead of lightening my roots, she darkened the rest of my hair to try to blend them. The front desk booked with a color correction specialist, which tells me it was clear that something went wrong. I am attaching photos--they really show how far off the result is from what I expected. I also noticed a $30 charge for "an extra bowl of color" which seems to be a theme throughout every review I am reading. I would not care about this if my hair had not ended up brown. And to answer the question- yes I paid full price and gave a 18% tip. After being booked with a color correction specialist I received 3 messages - 2 texts and 1 email - stating they had my credit card on file and that if I did not cancel within the 48 hour period I would be charged full price for services. I am not even sure what they charge for color correction- when they booked me they did not quote a price for how much they planned to charge me to fix my hair. read more

I am not one to bash nor do I ever really say anything. But with so much hanging on having an UP-DO for a recent wedding I attended, I couldn't have been more disappointed. I sent pictures of what I was looking for, they acted like no problem, we can do this. Then the time came, I came in all washed, dried, curled and ready to go for a beautiful updo (hoping). I was stressed because never but once have I had a successful updo. I felt good this was going to work. NOPE! Not this time. We had to re do several times, and finally I just threw in the towel, paid $74 which included a tip, for an updo that ruined my night. I kept it up because i had no time to take down. But every picture of me is HORRIBLE. I hated it. So sad. They are young and inexperienced, or ... IDK. Whatever it is, it isn't good. read more

I feel bad writing this review because I went here for years and love the owner personally. That said, Roger gave me THE WORST haircut I've ever had in my life. I could tell that I had a huge, chunky layer in the front that didn't blend with the next layer, but when family and friends pointed out how "strange" the back looked, I was horrified. I went back for Roger to "fix"' it, but he gaslit me and then just made it worse. I called to ask for a refund (I'd paid $100), and Bree, the owner, offered to fix it for me. She made it minimally better, but failed to acknowledge how botched it obviously was. Still having trouble doing my hair, which is usually very easy for me to do, I called again to ask for a refund, and got ghosted. Now I have another hair appointment at a different salon and have to pay someone again to cut my hair wayyy shorter than I want it in order for it not to look like a 5 year old cut it. I'm really sorry to have to post this after going there for 4 years but my recent experience was enough for me to stop going and take the time to write this post I went in for a simple single process. just roots I changed to junior stylist because they charge by experience and the girls who did me previously moved up but for a simple single process no need to spend the extra money when I went to check out (by the way I hadn't seen a receipt the past 2 times because their printers were down). they charged me $30.00 for an extra bowl of color!!!! I questioned it and they basically said too bad. I said so you were only going to color half my hair? you've never disclosed this before. I just paid and left i thought about it last night and spoke to my colorist in Florida and she agreed that was petty. I called back and asked to speak with the Salon Director who was not available and told the receptionist again how I thought this was ridiculous. I mean seriously a single process roots only i don't care how much hair you have should not be charged for extra bowl of color. I also saw the bowl and she didn't even fill the second bowl and didn't use it all either plus she had unnecessary color all over the scalp line that she couldn't even get off At the end of the day I'm sorry to say by being petty and not disclosing they lost a customer. I went in with hair in the first photo, wanting the second photo and I came out 3 and a half hours later with the last photo! Not at all what I wanted or expected. When the colorist told me that they didn't have the dye colors she was going to use but that they found something that would work, I should have gotten out of the chair and left. Parleys Way location.- Worst experience ever! NO stars! Way over priced! Claim to be professionals but have no clue what they are doing and they DO NOT WANT to do any more than they "feel like" needs to be done.I needed JUST my roots done. But instead of matching the blonde they just slapped on a bunch of brown with no care of how it went on. No pattern no chohiveness. No blending of any kind. When they were done $235.00 and two hours later my hair looked like 5 months if grow out. And... STILL GREY ON THE CROWN. I went back told them to put the blonde back in and make it chohive and blend... 3 hours later and the front was literally white not blonde with what now looked like black roots and still TONS of grey on the crown. Nothing blended. No chohiveness. Destroyed my hair. STILL GREY HAIR on the crown of my head!?!? Two appointment AND 5 HOURS OF COLOR and still grey hair! FYI- They dont like covering all the grey. Just spots - quote "only where people might see" EXcept people can see the crown of your head?!?!?! They act like they are way to expensive to do the job correctly so they are only going to do the bare minimum. Do not pay these prices. Not worth the time money and disgusting results. Morenthaen disappointing this was crushing! The amazing person who ACTUALLY FIXED my hair was literally shocked at how bad my hair looked. How much gray was still not covered and the lack of professionalism when adding the color. She was literally ashamed and angry that they are claiming to be a professionals and over changing for such disgusting results. DO NOT GO HERE. FIND LOCAL INDIVIDUALS (not big salons with multiple location). These individuals care way more and their prices are affordable and THEY COVER YOUR GREY. They do a complete chohive job. You do not need to pay hundreds of dollars EVER to have your hair done correctly! You should not be paying hundreds of dollars EVER to get your hair colored. The corrected color cost me $130.00 my entire head of hair was included. Its completely cohesive, bleneded and pretty. There is NO gray. Going forward the charge for a complete job is $110.00. My wife went here to go grey. She has very fine dark brown hair and the hair stylist consulting her told her that it wouldn't be a problem. They consulted her about her eventual color and she agreed on the approach. She was left in the hair steamer for a while and when I arrived she complained that her head felt very hot. She got out and went to speak with the stylist. They noticed that a lot of her hair had melted and she had a scalp burn. Sheer lack of attention to his customer is what this is. Lunatic Fringe did waive the costs of these so called services but it doesn't negate the bald spot on her head or the minor chemical burn she had to tolerate. Visit at your own risk. I came to this Lunatic Fringe specifically so Megan P could do my hair. I'd had a less than stellar experience at another Lunatic Fringe, so I was a bit nervous. Everyone at the salon is friendly, and the atmosphere is very relaxed. A few notes on what I loved: -There is an iPad at every station, full of magazines that you can flip through. The salon did this to be more eco-friendly, and I LOVE it -The wash stations have a surface to rest your head on, so your head isn't hanging down in the sink. This lets you enjoy the wash/scalp massage. The room also has dimmed lights and is very relaxing. Now to talk about Megan! Megan had done quite a few of my friends hair, and before I went I looked at her instagram to see what she had done (http://instagram.com/montymonroe) and I was very impressed. I booked an appointment to have my balayage darkened. Megan is very knowledgable, and she consulted with the salon's color specialist to do my hair. They did an OK job on highlights but didn't do what I asked for. Nice people that work there, but my hair stylist charged for a conditioning treatment when all I asked for was partial highlights which was a scam/rip off. I asked my other hair stylist from home if that was normal to add a conditioning treatment for very subtle partial highlights and she said "No, they were just taking advantage of you." So ehh on the ethical part. Cute salon though. And did a pretty good job on highlights just make sure they don't charge you for an extra treatment because I have been to many salons that have never done that and my hair always comes out completely fine. Also, they almost charged me for full highlights which was much more expensive, so make sure they have the services listed correctly before they charge you. read more

So I was an idiot and decided to bleach my hair myself so I could dye it teal. Big mistake. The color looked so AWFUL. I looked exactly like the heat miser. And I started to panic because I was moving to Portland in two days and I didn't want my long distance boyfriend to see me that way. So I called and asked if they could take me in at such short notice and they actually booked me in the next day. When I got there, they weren't even sure that they could fix it. Melody totally fixed my piece of s*** hair into a GORGEOUS fire engine red that I LOVE. She colored it twice, bleached it, glossed it twice and even colored my extensions. I was expecting the price to be at least over $150-$200 since I was there for hours. It was actually UNDER $100! Also, everyone at the salon was sooo nice and saying how cute the color was and always asking if I needed anything. I recommend this salon to everyone and ask for Melody. Meh! Years ago when I lived in Salt Lake City I went to the Parleys location and loved it there. When my stylist didn't come back from maternity leave i decided to try the location near me in park city. Wish I never did. I asked to be recommended a stylist and got one that wasn't interested in listening to what I want or even talking to me. I went to the stylist a few times and was never happy each time. After getting my hair botched for the last time I decided to move on for good and never go back. I believe they have some great stylists. One last thing I want to mention that I hated was the uncomfortable area where you sit under the hair steamer. Awful. I want to be comfortable and pampered for the top end prices I was paying. My recommendation is to do your research and go to a stylist that really does have a good reputation and cares about their clients. read more

We were coming from out of town for a wedding and looking for a salon for updos for my two daughters (age 5 and 7) who were flower girls in the wedding. We booked at Lunatic Fringe knowing nothing about the place. We were so happy. Katie did both my girls' hair and she was sweet and understanding and completely accepting of their occasional wiggle. Horrible, horrible, hair cut! Absolutely nothing like the picture provided to the stylist who assured me she could do what was asked. It wasn't even close to resembling the style of the cut requested. The request was not a complicated haircut, rather simple. It was supposed to be layered in the front, and instead it's several inches too short with no layers. It looks awful, like I went to a low end hair salon. First time and last time going here. I'll have to let it grow out for several months and then continue driving to SLC to a good hairstylist. If you care about your hair style go somewhere else. Seriously, you could get a more highly skilled hair stylist at Great Clips for a lot less. I'm not pitching that place, just putting it in context as to how low the bar is at Lunatic Fringe in PC. I went to get my hair bayalaged here; "dimensional color". She gave me very few highlights and they were super grey in color which looked weird with my dark brown hair. I went back the next day to explain I wanted more blonde, more highlights, and less grey. They told me that it would take multiple sessions and I could have expected to walk out with it. By far the worst haircut I have ever received. Within 3 seconds of cutting the top of my hair she proceeded to take a MASSIVE chunk out of my bangs. Just for context, my bangs was several inches long and she cut a chunk down to less than 1inch in one snip... I was only in there for a trim, what I got was a butchering. She trimmed my sideburns crooked and could not seem to get them the same length - I gave up asking for her to try to fix any of the mistakes she made because I was seriously worried she would make it worse. Towards the end of the cut she said, "I'm sorry it's not perfect but I mean it bet your hair grows back fast so it's not a big deal"... She was basically connoting it wasn't her fault - who's fault could it have been then? Still had to pay for the $40 cut... You'd be wise to stay away. read more

Buyer Beware! I went to the Park City Lunatic Fringe this past Friday (Jan 5) and had a perfectly fine trim. The issue is that the stylist also recommended a Keratase deep conditioning treatment. Fine. But then I got the bill, and the treatment cost me $40!!! That is decidedly not fine. Not only was the price not mentioned to me, but the fact that the treatment would be an additional cost was not even brought up. Very, VERY un-cool. I have been quietly seething all week. read more

i wish i could give this place 4.5 stars, because their customer service is spectacular and they have some great stylists. here goes my super long review: i am 38.5 weeks pregnant and have long, layered, extremely curly, dry, coarse and THICK (very very thick) hair. i just moved to utah from the east coast last week, where i had been getting blowouts every couple weeks because i am just too pregnant to do it myself anymore and a straight blowout lasts me much longer than having to wet it and let it curl every day. i found lunatic fringe on yelp liked the reviews so i decided to try it out. they were very accommodating and got me an appointment that same day. i told them i was fine with a junior stylist, because that's what i had been getting in NY and had always had fine results. i got there, was greeted politely (a rarity in a lot of nicer salons, or maybe im just used to east coast snobbiness) and met with my stylist, who i cannot emphasize enough, was VERY very sweet. she gave me an amazing shampoo with a great scalp massage and then asked what i wanted with my blowout and got to work. i could tell pretty soon though that she didn't have much experience with thicker, curlier (fine i'll say it, JEWISH) hair and she was struggling to eliminate the poof and get it straight and i could tell she was a little worried about how long my hair was taking to dry. she eventually needed help from another stylist and even after getting help i ended up with a much poofier 'do than i wanted and it was just way too curled with the round brush, and did not look sleek or like i had just gotten it blown straight by a professional. i was pretty upset with it and frustrated and felt like a giant poof ball show pony. but i just couldn't bring myself to say anything about it at the register because she was right there, and she was so nice, and she really had tried so hard. i called the desk after i got home and told the receptionist my concerns and how upset i was with my hair and she was SO nice about it, was very understanding, and offered me a free redo the next morning. i just got home from my redo with a different stylist and it is MUCH better. exactly what i expect when i ask someone to blow my hair straight with a round brush. the girl who did my redo is melody i think. she was great and really understood my poofy hair concerns and made sure ALL the moisture was out of my hair before setting me free and got everything sleek and shiny. so as far as customer service and experienced stylists go, 5 stars for sure. my only issue with this place is, a junior stylist at a salon like this should be able to blow curly hair straight. i didn't ask for anything complicated and it's really not my fault that my hair is the way it is, i shouldn't have to pay a premium for it; having someone helplessly grapple at your hair and needing help halfway through is something you'd expect for 10 bucks at a hair school, not for 40 dollars at a salon. so maybe they could check with you in the future about your hair type before pairing you with a stylist so that their stylists who don't know how to do curly hair will not be matched with you. other than that though, i had a pleasant experience with these guys and i've never had better customer service at a salon! read more
