I've been saying for years that Culver City desperately needs a stationary/ gift store. There are approximately 5,000 restaurants in the downtown area, but until Lundeen's appeared the only place to buy a birthday card was at Albertson's. Thank you, Lundeen's, for saving us from cheesy grocery store greeting cards. This little shop has a small but thoughtful assortment of cards. They range in price from about $3 to about $10. I picked up a very nice Valentine's Day card there the other day for $3.50. They also carry stationary and thank you notes. Towards the back of the store are a bunch of great gift items. If you forgot a certain someone's birthday and you're dashing across the street from your office to try to find something on short notice, you'll find something nice at Lundeen's. They also have a small section of baby gift items, including organic onesies and blankets, books and stuffed toys. In short, this is the store that Culver City has been waiting for. I'm so happy that Lundeen's opened in Culver City. They have the best selection of cards -- unique, funny, irreverent and gorgeous. They've been a big hit with family and friends. They also have a nice selection of gifts, all hand picked and mostly stuff I haven't seen anywhere else. The staff is friendly and helpful but never crosses into too helpful/pushy. Needed a "Congrats Baby Boy" card and didn't have time to do a lot of shopping for something decent. Drug store and grocery store cards are a good way of saying "you mean more to me than belly button lint" so I didn't want to go that route. I called Lundeens having window shopped there and even though I was going to be late, they kept the store open when I phoned ahead. I was 5 mins late and they still waited for me. How can you not appreciate it when they're willing to stay late for you. Little boutique shops are hard to find these days but I much prefer to support them rather than Walmart or those other galactic parasites. Lundeens is great and the shop is really a good place to check out if you're looking for something but have no idea what that might be. read more

If you like Pinterest, you will love this store. Letterpress, self-containing moss, quirky trinkets and more. This place has it all, but at a price. However, it's not major corporations like Hallmark making these cards and gifts, so you're more likely than not contributing to help pay a local/USA artisan. Food for thought! Anyways, the store is great, and a crafty lover's dream. The only downside is the lady behind the counter and her "customer service" approach. She's awkward, unfriendly and unhelpful. Lundeen's is one of my FAVORITE places ever! It's a stone's throw from my house, so I find myself there basically any chance I get (probably to my husband's dismay, though he loves it too). I may enter in a sad/bad mood, but for better or worse, whenever I come out, my mood is always elevated--this little gift and stationery wonderland is my retail therapy, I suppose. Some women love shoes, but I love stationery, and you won't find a better selection of it anywhere in Culver City (or even the Westside, for that matter). It seems it's always about to be someone's birthday in my life, and I can manage to find the perfect, unique gifts for everyone at Lundeen's, from delicious candles, jewelry, lotions, tons of baby/kids gifts, books, foodie gadgets, even great gifts for guys. The entire store is updated constantly, so great sales happen several times a year, during which I love being able to stock up on gifts for the coming months. Even more, they wrap your gifts for FREE! That's unheard of in LA--love it. I am in a wheelchair, and the staff have been nothing but kind and lovely to me, even if I knock over a display. Particularly the fabulous owner, Kathryn, and darling sidekick, Maggie, are so helpful and interested. They have truly become friends over the few years I have been going there. While not cheap, this is definitely my go to place for creative and unique birthday gifts, wedding gifts, bridal shower gifts, baby gifts and toys, and cards. It's better for gifts for girls/women, but I have gotten some birthday gifts for the menfolk here as well. It's in a very convenient location in the middle of downtown Culver City and next to the Starbucks, too. The one thing I can't understand is why the staff is so very sullen, even yesterday when I purchased my latest birthday present? Every time I've been in here--like 20 or more times--and even if it's completely dead, the staff couldn't be bothered to return my hello. And when you go to purchase something at the counter, you are lucky if they look at you, much less crack a smile. What's up, Lundeen's staff? The stock is awesome, but do they only hire unhappy or stuck up people or is the management awful? Makes you wonder. Maybe they just really know how great the gifts are, so they don't try to please you? I know that Lundeen's has a lot of the stuff you can find at places like Pulp, but sometimes I don't have time to get out to La Brea and 6th, so having a smaller but still really nice shop like it nearby is ideal. Everyone I've encountered working there has been really friendly and helpful, even writing down my questions/requests in order to follow up on them later. The cards are really nice, mostly hand printed etc. and the gifties are pretty much all things I'm more tempted to just keep for myself than give away. read more

I LOVE Lundeen's! I used to work across the street and only wish I shopped there more before I changed jobs and relocated to Burbank. I seriously love/want everything here. They're one of those cute boutique gift shops that have beauty products, cards, stationery, kid stuff, home decor, jewelry and a plethora of unique/handmade/high quality things (especially items that appeal to designers like me!). I would drive all the way to the westside to shop here for my favorite perfume (by Tokyo Milk) and to perhaps build my Pantone mug collection. Lundeen's is a cute local store filled with the best little gifts that are super unique and local to LA, which I loved. I came in today just to look and got super excited at the prospect of buying everyone on my Christmas list something from here. When I saw all the beautiful baby gifts, I decided to purchase a gift for my friend's baby shower. However, my husband and I had then been in store for at least 5 mins and no one greeted us. No one looked up. No one said a word. No one helped us. No one asked if we need anything. Just zero customer service. I wish that our time in Lundeen's would have gone a different way because we have a gift list that would have been perfectly filled at that store. Lundeen's, you own my soul and I have no objections about it. This is my go-to place to find gifts for pretty much anyone on my gift-giving list or for finding nice knick knacks and stationary for myself. They always gift wrap everything beautifully, saving me the extra effort of attempting to muster up some wrapping paper and wrapping skills. This is a like a candy store for adults... so much fun you don't want to leave. I love this place. Lundeen's has saved my butt on more than one occasion. For example: I was down the street at Sony for a conference and had 20 minutes during lunch to find the "perfect" birthday card for my honey. And, yes, I did. Phew! On another occasion I was going to meet some friends two doors down at City Tavern and I had two birthdays that I had to take care of 5 minutes in the future. (Eeeks.) But again, I found the perfect cards for each of them and the perfect tchotski's as gifts -- one for a guy and one for a gal -- I wrote out the cards at Lundeen's cash register and trotted down to City Tavern and no one was the wiser. The cards and gifts are tres eclectic and unique. It appeared as if I'd spent hours (instead of 3 minutes) selecting them. Small, local gift shop, with an assortment of quirky books, beer & wine accoutrements, cute cards, perfume and candles, and housewares like funky mugs and cutting boards. There's also a baby section, but I have yet to peruse that. Things here are a little pricy but they're unique, and the people who work there are always willing to make a suggestion or help you find the right gift. Great gift wrapping, too! Only real cons are that they've only got a few of each item, so don't expect what you've seen before to be in stock, and parking here SUCKS. Best to park in the nearby structure rather than circle the block looking for a spot, which I've sadly done more than once. read more

The store is pretty easy to find. There is convenient street parking all around, and it's next too other good stores / food places on a nice street. The woman working, who I believe is the owner, was very friendly and helpful. They offer a nice selection of small gifts: candles, journals, baby gifts, art books, etc. I was impressed that there was a whole shelf of baby and children's books because I think that is rare in a smaller gift store. Everything was nicely displayed as well. Being listed under "cards & stationary", I was a little disappointed there was not a larger card selection, since that was my main purpose for visiting, but I am always happy to see stores that carry more independent card makers. I was still able to find some good cards though, and the prices were reasonable. I would pop back in again if I were in the area. read more

Went to Lundenn's for the first time today and got unique gifts for two of my favorite people. I found them because they carry the unique gift 'table topics'. They are cubes filled with cards with questions to start conversations at dinner parties. The cards they had were amazing as all the other reviews mention. They have this one line called Bald Guy Greetings which are filled with hilarious sarcasm....everytime I read the card I bought I have to laugh. I adore this shop! There are fun and quirky gifts, books, and cards. I have purchased many little gifts here -- a hilarious card and salt and pepper shakers for my friend's wedding, a sweet card for my grandparents, a birthday gift for my husband, and so much more. I have brought friends to the store, and they always find stuff they love too. I also feel the need to comment about my experience with the employees. I am shocked by the other reviewers comments about the customer service. My husband and I stop by the store at least a few times each month during our walks around the neighborhood and the staff has always been extremely kind and welcoming. In addition, when we make quick stops out front for our dog to take a drink from the water bowl they have by the front door, they always smile and wave hello. I have walked in the shop and aimlessly browsed numerous times and I love that I am not hounded by the employee, but I have never encountered rudeness or felt like I was not being respected as a customer. Lundeen's is my go-to gift place for literally everyone, including myself. I've been going there for three years and I'm constantly finding cool gifts hidden in the shelves. The staff is fantastic and helpful. Kathryn carries some weird and quirky things in there - whiskey rocks, moustache paraphernalia, even books telling you why your dog/cat is gay. But she also has those items that come through in the clutch when you can't think of anything to get your mom for her birthday, or your newborn cousin. They also gift wrap for free, and since I don't know how to do that at all, it's quite great. So if you're looking for a gift to impress, Lundeen's is your best bet on the westside. read more

This place has very cute gift cards, gifts for a variety of people (men, women & children), luxury items, holiday items etc. Some things can be very pricey but there are other items reasonably priced. I love how they constantly have new items available. It has a little bit of an anthropologie feel with out being too 'what it is' if you know what I mean by that. I actually like how the staff isn't constantly down your throat. I like to be left to shop on my own. When I do have questions they are super nice and helpful. They offer free gift wrapping as well. I like to stop by and get a piece of jewelry now and then when I feel like I need to treat myself. It's right next to starbucks so its a good place to pop in and browse after you get a coffee.
