I went to Lunds as the soda was buy 1 get one free on Coke products. I couldn't find Sprite and when I asked a young man he was happy to go to the back and grab some for me. I walked to the register and whoops spotted a pallet of them. Thankful for the kind staff here. Store is clean and they do a good job checking out customers fast. read more

We visited the hot food bar at the Maple Grove location and it was not what it used to be. The worst part was the meat loaf that was not only cold, but turned out to severely undercooked / raw. The rest of the meal was inedible. This used to be a great option for a quick meal; now it's expensive and just plain bad. read more

I primarily shop Lunds & Byerlys but also shop at other grocery stores. I find that L&B has the freshest produce, best cuts of meat and also they ROTATE their inventory. It is so frustrating to me to purchase out of date grocery items that I encounter so often at the other grocery stores. Just this last week I stopped at another store and had to pick up several strawberry packages due to moldy fruit. I didn't note that the hummus had expired until I was home. I also love L&B for their selection of product. I am a L&B member and find many great sales/savings! read more

I recently observed a negative handling of food in the deli section of this LB location. The deli staff had several large display dishes of salads and entrees on a push cart NONE of the dishes were covered. The deli staff was carrying on a conversation with another customer while standing directly over the uncovered food cart. A major food borne, contamination incident in the making. read more

My new favorite Byerly's! I always go to Byerly's for the self-serve deli and café...because it's always amazing...BUT this one is spectacular! First off, they have rice ...both white rice and fried rice in a HUGE Rice cooker! I've NEVER seen that before. Now I'm a fan of rice, so this makes me very happy! The have finely chopped veggies and fruit salad. Also the main food selection is amazing as well...going beyond the usual chicken and fish... they have those but they have a variety here. For fish they have not only Tilapia but baked salmon. For Chicken, not only fried, but baked, sautéed and barbecue! The seating area is clean and spacious too, making dining here a delight! Why anyone would think just standing in the front of the store watching over as two cashiers try to handle a rush of customers without helping is beyond me. I was criticized for being too friendly to my employees. It may have been a better store back in the day, but I have my doubts. We've ordered several cakes from here for special occasions. For my daughter's upcoming First Communion I thought we'd be sure to get a beautiful cake for guests from here. We went with the Swedish Princess Torte. We'd had it for my daughter's baptism 8 years ago, and also for the 1st birthday. Picked it up today--the day before the first communion. 1. The cross is crooked and my 8 year old could have done just as well. And she hates doing artwork. 2. The fondant was the color of split pea soup. No lie. I looked back at pictures of the other two Swedish Princess tortes, and they were a nice, muted spring looking green. From the moment that we walked in, I knew this was going to be a unique experience. I wanted to eat a little of everything in almost every case that we walked by. They really have a little of everything! And their bakery...they do gorgeous work! After one visit by an out of towner, I felt they deserved an acknowledgment. I'll start by saying I am a big fan of Lunds and Byerly's on the whole but this is one of the poorer stores that I have been to. To bad it's also the closest to my house. There are many things I will drive to Lunds in Plymouth or another store altogether due to the poor quality from here. The bakery here is terrible. We ordered a birthday cake from here that you could tell had collapsed in the center. There was 1/4" of frosting on the edges, which in my opinion is way to much, and in the center where the cake had fallen it was almost 3/4" thick and grossed out even the 5 year old children. Many of their items have far two much frosting and are really poor tasting overall. Last week I stopped and picked up a pound of Prosciutto for something I was making. I had picked up a pound a few days before but ran out, at $27.00 a pound it was tasty and just what I wanted for the recipe. I ordered the 2nd pound from a grumpy woman and ran off to get a few other things. I stopped in and picked up my meat. when I got home I realized that the woman had clumped all the meat together without any paper. I had a $27.00 clump of meat that was useless. To their credit, when I called and bitched they had their delivery guy run me over a pound at no charge. That was fine but I was over an hour behind with a party deadline and pretty stressed by that point. Anyone should know when cutting custom meat like that it needs to be separated, simple. I went to Lund's & Byerly's this morning at 10:30am. I was in the store maybe 20 minutes after selecting bakery, dairy and vegetables. I went to check out only to discover there was only self service check outs in service. Finally, a cash register opened and anyone with 50 items or more fled to that checkout. I go to Lund's and Byerly's for their service. I do not checkout my own groceries as it never goes smoothly. I noticed several Byerly's employees standing at the Customer Service desk, doing nothing. After assessing the lines in self-service and the lack of cashiers available, I left after returning the groceries I had planned to purchase to their department. A simple errand has now caused me a lot of wasted time. I stopped at their competition down the road and was able to get the service I expect from a grocery store. read more

I find this store very unfriendly. I am 90 years old and cannot walk and carry my grocery bags. When I asked the girl to use a cart, she informed me that I could not take it out to the parking lot and if I did, I had to be sure to return it. The reason I asked for it is because I have trouble walking and left my cane in my car. Lucky for me another customer came by and helped me. I doubt I will be returning to this store. I shop at Byerly's weekly and I am consistently pleased with their service and food quality. I've read a few reviews where shoppers have had bad experiences, but I have never been disappointed with this store. The lot is always clean and free of carts. The bakery, deli, meat department and produce area have extremely high quality goods. I also like the florist area (the flowers are quite reasonable compared to stand alone florist shops) and I'm impressed with the cheese shop. The store is orderly and the cashiers & baggers are extremely polite and attentive. Yes, the store is a little more expensive than other markets in the area, but Jimmy and Eddie Byerly certainly aren't going to put themselves through junior college, so that extra cash you pay for dry goods is sorely needed. It doesn't take much to exceed the experiences at Cub, Walmart or that ghetto-bodega Rainbow. However, Byerly's doesn't allow their competition to be the benchmark. You can't beat this place for finding a perfect little sumpin-sumpin for a loved one in a real hurry. Simply make a dash for the bakery counter where you can find single-serving decadent desserts for under $6. I have brought one of these confections as a hostess gift more than once and been the instant favorite guest. Bottle of wine hostess gift be damned! I sent a private message to the guy who was upset with their service after Byerly's personally delivered new product to the guy's house. Some people - ya just can't please 'em. The only reason I didn't give this place five stars is because I feel the cashiers/baggers could use a little sprucing up. read more

I have to agree with the first reviewer. This Byerly's location feels sloppy compared to others. One of my biggest frustrations has been communicating with employees. For instance, when I buy a small handful of things, I prefer to carry them without a bag. A bottle of soda and a bag of pistachios? I can handle those items without a bag. But even after saying several times, "No, I don't need a bag, please don't bag those," I end up walking out with a blue plastic bag. This happens almost every time I go. It's not that I hate bags. I'd rather the employees listen to me and not run on auto-pilot. Also, aisles here tend to be cluttered and poorly lit. The frozen food area gets especially messy and I wonder why nobody cleans or changes light bulbs more often. If I wanted that kind of shopping trip, I could just go to Cub. read more

My personal experience at the Lunds/Byerlys Maple Grove store has been one of Discrimination. I have shared my experience with :: Ruby in Senator Klobuchar's Office, The Department of Commerce, The Department of Human Rights, and Chris Egert with KSTP. Several employees have UNJUSTLY defamed my character and tarnished my reputation ... Sue in particular stating ... "You just handle what we ALLLL Really think of You !!!" ... and then directly attacking my Disabilty (OCD) regarding medications at which time Tom had responded ... "I won't ask "You" to leave the store "at this time". Keri witnessed this remark ... in fact we spoke about his remark the following morning. Three of the Managers recently went so far as to attack my disability themselves ... stating that they are "uncomfortable with my presence" in their store; that I was one to be feared ... and then having called Sergeant Watson intending to have me trespassed. Keri stereotyped my having OCD ... her "assumptions, accusations, and stigmatizing" had me drive downtown Mpls intending to end my life several weeks ago. I spent yet another two nights at Abbott and now have significant additional debt. I lost a 60 year old friendship as she has Catholic views regarding suicide. Sue, Keri, Tom, and Pat stoled my integrity, dignity, and so much more ... because of their ignorance and having stigmatized that which they unjustly fear. Pat actually requested me to cancel my charges with Human Rights ... which I initially did. Since no ownership or apology has been made to me ... I have chosen to post this review. Enough is Enough is Enough. Pat Y. asked me what it would take for me to let this go (in an extremely derogatory tone of voice). He never allowed me to respond to his question by stating ... "A PUBLIC APOLOGY and sensitivity/diversity training for all of your employees from the top down" ... how would management treat a customer with Tourette's Syndrome ??? I Feel Soooo Completely Betrayed by so-called friends; "The SILENT BYSTANDERS", who stood by and remained "COMPLICIT" while witnessing the "Unjustifiable Accusations & Bigoted Assumptions. Alllll of these individuals "ARE COMPLICIT" and they broke my spirit and my heart !!! Is it possible (I suppose) that should only one employee have gone to Tom to discuss their interactions with me (defend me) ... that he might have terminated their employment status with the Store ... however had 7 or more gone to him or even above him ... that their jobs wouldn't have been in jeopardy (a law suit would be appropriate should he have fired them for simply sharing their perceptions ... which in no way can be construed as insubordination). For 3 days after knowing what Tom had said about "not asking me to leave store at this time" ... Ruth DID tell me that she intended to speak to him as she didn't think he understood the seriousness of Sue's actions ... Ruth did admit to me that she did not follow through however. Pat should have pulled store camera footage and pulled my receipt to see what my purchases were. Other employees should have been spoken with. None of this ever took place. To quote Pat he had said that Keri is special to him. She doesn't like conflict and "Would not betray Tom". So is this Byerlys "Wall of Silence" ??? Pat just went with Keri's having stated that she is "Uncomfortable" with my presence in the store. No investigation ever took place. read more

Not too bad. Like a Whole Foods, but in Minnesota. Prices are higher but it's understandable. I went in for seafood. Everything was frozen, which was not what I wanted, but on Christmas Eve, the fact that they even had any seafood was a plus. I'd probably shop there again if I lived in MN. read more

I found the store had many attractive displays, beautiful desserts, large variety of deli items. As I entered the store I used the bathroom which was in deplorable condition. There were puddles of water on the floor in front of the milk case and though I slipped, fortunately I did not fall. four items I buy where I usually shop were not here. When I went to get some of their wonderful Cherry Chicken salad, I watched the worker fix her hair while wearing her gloves, then reach into the case and slice meat for a customer. As I attempted to do self-checkout, I needed help several times for my 12 items as some had no way without the helper, confusing and not user friendly, including the message that there was something in the loading area. Irritating to say the least. That was the straw that broke this camel's back! Management might tighten up their systems/standards. read more

Byerlys used to be considered an upscale grocery store. It was more expensive to shop there, but the quality of food was good, and so was the service. Things have changed for the worse. While the prices are still higher than other grocery stores, the service has slipped. We bought a gallon of the byerlys brand milk a couple days ago, the milk had a weird plastic smell and taste. When my wife tried to return the milk this morning, the lady took the milk, but didn't offer a refund or an exchange. I have been very happy with the new HyVee by my house. I think we do all of our shopping there instead of byerlys. read more

I know why they are loaded with salt because there is absolutely no flavor to the chicken. First complaint- terrible flavor and salty. Today I was there 5:10 in the evening-perfect timing for new fresh ones right? NOPE! They literally had to sit there all day. So rubbery I could barely bite into them. Instant stomachache too. For how expensive L&B is, they need to step up the quality!! Bought a fruit tart for a friends birthday - again like $30! Fruit was sour and crust was overdone. Ken P. Maple Grove I disagree with the two reviews I've just read. This is an outstanding store in terms of service, food quality, displays, and pricing. The produce is fresh. The employees there are most helpful in locating an item. The deli counter staff freely give samples and help me with my selections for lunch on site and to bring home. They carefully package my cheeses and meats. The meat cutters will sharpen your knives while you have a second cup of coffee. They've done special slicing of ham for a reception for 50. The grocery dept. manager will order an item you want if you don't find it and then "track" it to see if it should be added to the inventory. The staff helped me with a 21st birthday present for a neighbor's son named Jack. We located dozens of store items with Jack in the name (even in the liquor store) and prepared a Birthday Basket for him. That was terrific service. The liquor department packages beer baskets and wine baskets on special order for holiday giving and charitable donations. Terrific service! I always marvel at the well trained and polite young people working at the checkout counters. The carry out/ car service saves my bad back. The pharmacy department is outstanding. Manager Alyssia takes time to discuss the drug interactions of my prescriptions and calls my doctor if she sees a "red flag." Even our dog has a Byerly's pharmasist who visits with our vet about medication. The Maple Grove Byerly's gives to this community. The manager has donated food items to a number of charitable causes undertaken by the Rotary Club and the local Lions Club. They have provided a "taste of Byerly's" at the Music Fest for businesses and their employees. This store has given me numerous non-perishable baskets for silent auctions. The bakery has donated 9 dozen donuts and rolls for our Lions Club volunteers annual holiday basket assembly with the Maple Grove Fire Department and in cooperation with area churches. Byerly's is quite clean. The window washer seems to be there weekly. The restrooms are nicely maintained and even have fresh flowers. Our mother loves that! The flower and card department are beautifully stocked. The staff helps me locate special cards for celebrations . The variety of fresh flowers is amazing. Those prices are most reasonable. Maple Grove is most fortunate to have a store of this quality. They deserve our patronage. read more

I dropped in to pick up a lunch. Got a Hissio Sushi to go. It was terrible, horrible, awful. First the sushi rice had way too much sugar in it, secondly the sashami was very small, and thirdly it was a tasteless mess. I don't normally write reviews in general, but I needed to write this review. I moved to MN in November and since then I have been going to this grocery store at least twice a week sometimes more. Today when I was checking out I said I would take the cart to my car and unload my groceries and bring the cart in. I do this every time. The guy looked at me weird, so I asked if that was okay and he said that they prefer if I do drive up. Which no one has ever told me since I have been shopping here since November. So I said I can just quick be back with my cart. The guy was not happy with me by the look he gave me. As I was waiting for him to bag my groceries another girl kinda stared me down. So first off, I'm saving you and your store time, but doing the work myself and not having you guys unload my groceries if I were to do drive up. I was in a rush and I just wanted to do it myself, so what? That's what you do at almost all groceries stores. Sometimes I stop to get a bottle of wine on my way out so it's just easier for me to do it myself. I would like to add that I ALWAYS bring my cart back. There are no places to put the cart back in the parking lot, which honestly is kind of annoying, but oh well. Anyways, I'm writing this review, because the guy mad me feel really bad and I go to this store all the time. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive, but I was pretty mad when I left the store. First the wrong: Bakery prices ridiculous. A little brownie for $4? That must be some brownie. Deli prices are fairly ridiculous too but that is true everywhere. I do admit the salads look delicious. So why five stars? Because I've decided that Byerly's is my favorite lunch spot in town- especially on work days. My grandma and I wanted to try the new Big Bowl that Byerlys had opened and advertised so highly of it. It was not that. First off- the service? Eh. 5/10. Not awful. Not good. The guy was not helpful and didn't treat us very well. Second, the wait was like 15 minutes! Far too long for a grab-and-go type deal. They didn't really have a lot of options, but I mean I don't complain. Everything LOOKED good. LOOKED. Can't say the same for the taste. It was bland, and dry. The vegetarian noodles I got, were super dry. Same with the rice, it tasted fine, but really probably the worst veggie fried rice I've ever gotten. It was just all bland. I tasted my grandmas Pat Thai or however you spell it (sorry) and that was VERY bland too. The total cost was crazy. To sum it all up, it's Leean Chin with less choices, much longer wait time, and triple the amount of time it takes to get it. Leean Chin is the best. You can't top it. read more

I like the food and groceries but the service is HORRIBLE. I waited to get some food from the display case in the food grab and go area, there were two ladies cutting meat and packaging food that refused to look up from whatever they were doing. Then there was a girl, maybe 17-18 getting mashed potatoes etc for some older ladies. So i waited for awhile and when those ladies left it was just me and another guy waiting. I stood across from her and she was just finishing up a package for a lady and while doing so, she looked up at me and we made eye contact for a split second. She then looked at the guy and back at me (still packaging). When she was done, she went to the other guy and asked what she could to for him. What the hell??? Good thing the guy told her I was there first and then she looked stupid and helped me. The whole time she was rushing and was really just being rude. I understand that she mightve just been anxious and unaware of what she was doing, like maybe it was her first jib and they hired her seasonally... But her supervisor was there and was ENCOURAGING it... Not much left to say. read more

I went to Lunds & Byerlys to look for something yummy for our Christmukkah party next Saturday and was so disappointed. There were hardly any holiday related cakes and when I asked some very basic questions about the ones they had, the person behind the counter could barely answer them. There were no other customers at the counter. She suggested that a cake designer could help me. She let the cake designer know that I had some questions and the designer said she was waiting for a phone call. I left. I'm going to look elsewhere. I've shopped at the Maple Grove Byerly's store since it opened several years ago, the service has greatly changed over the years, especially the past 1 year. The service is not what it used to be. There always seems to be a long wait at the deli, usually they have one person helping several customers. And the check out lines are much longer now then in the past. The bakery, meat department, and deli are the reason I love Byerly's/Lund stores. The products are expense but the quality is worth the price and I've been willing to pay BUT Hyvee is opening 2 stores in the near future in Maple Grove. I'll be checking them out!! read more

This is my favorite grocery store and I have shopped at many. All the departments are well stocked, have what I need as well as what I want. Anytime I have needed help or just have my "confused" face on someone asks if I need help. Wish I could be more helpful with the dept. I like the most but I like them all "the most". If you haven't tried the fresh "Byerly/Lund" orange juice do yourself a favor and get a bottle. I do miss the large bottle, it appears the 48oz is now the largest. The employee's are second to none, both helpful and polite. This Christmas season with the store packed I still couldn't find an impolite employee.
