Very nice small grocery store! The best bakery in a grocery store in Minnesota! Yummy baked goods and is local grocery store! You should stop in!

The baker at Almstead's made this beautiful "Goodnight Moon" cake!

Since Heights bakery closed I did not know where to get the huge donuts. I walked in to Almstead's and found them. I will ge back.

I finally made it over around lunch time and apologized in advance because I wanted to "taste test" a variety of different items. The gentleman who was helping me was super patient and just overall thrilled to have me wanting to try so many things so this was my spread & reactions: 1. Turkey jerky - very interesting compared to others I've had, a bit too salty for my liking but my husband said it was in his top 2 and is a turkey jerky fiend so I'd take his word over mine 2. Normal jerky - a little thinner than I prefer but really great flavor, easy to chew without being too soft nor hard like leather. It's in MY top two for sure! 3. Beef stick & cheese beef stick - these were both really good! The butcher helping me recommended trying the cheese because it's his personal favorite but I actually thought the normal beef was actually better! 4. Smoked salmon - this was actually my favorite of all the different snacks we tried, it was smoked really well that brought out the natural flavors of the fish. It wasn't dry or crumbled, but kept its own and easily was devoured without any morsel left behind! Although I didn't try anything from the freezers, they had such a huge variety we just have to come back again soon! Thanks for the great service and hospitality while I took forever to explore!

Ordering was quick, the cashier was friendly, and the deli has a comfortable atmosphere. We waited about 5-10 minutes for our sandwiches. I ordered the egg and cheese with a hash brown, and I really enjoyed it. I'd definitely order it again. I also tried the dark chocolate sea salt cookie, which was delicious. The space had more seating than I expected, which was a nice surprise. However, it does get pretty cramped once it fills, which happens fast. If we visit again, we'd probably take our food to go. I also appreciated the free street parking on weekends. Overall, a great experience, and I can see why there's always a line!

Perfect amount of spice and really good turkey, bacon, cheese. I've also tried The Most Interesting Sandwich in the World (pictured) and The Train Wreck. Both were good but I think the El Diablo is close to a perfect sandwich so it will be hard to venture out more. I've heard from others that their breakfast burritos are amazing. Not much actual space inside to sit and eat. It's typically very crowded around lunch time. Not the fastest service because they take in so many orders so I recommend planning ahead for a to-go order and relying on their estimates for an online order and it works out great.

I think as a to-go meal, it's a good staple, but not sure id enjoy dining in. The staff was friendly, there was one man working both the register and making the sandwiches. The sandwiches we ordered was the italian grinder, pretty good - but bare with just meat, cheese, and onion. We wish there was more veggies & will have to try it that way next time. The other one is the veggie, which was one of the only vegetarian sandwiches, so not a lot of options. I did switch the bread from wheat to ciabotta. I really enjoyed the cream cheese!! Overall, I would give it another chance, maybe changing a few things or doing a create your own!

I had heard good things and it was on my list for a while so was excited to try it. Clean place. I ordered at the counter. They told me there would be a 10 mins or so wait for my sandwich which was fine. Ordered my 12 inch turkey pastrami which is their most popular sandwich and a bottled drink. The total was 22 and change before tip which I thought was a little steep. The sandwich came in 4 pieces. Had the pastrami, tomato, pickle, peppers on a soft bread. The bread was fresh and soft. The sandwich was filled well with a good ratio of filling to bread. The taste was very well balanced and fresh. I wish there was more of the pastrami. Overall, I had a good and tasty lunch even though a little expensive. Happy to support a local black owned business. We had a grilled veggie sandwich and a build-your-own veggie, both on baguettes. In the world of veggie sandwiches, few managed to get a bullseye quite like this. Each bite was filled with freshly grilled vegetables, and the bread, a warm and soft vessel that accompanies the bright ingredients past the finish line. And the ingredients are top notch - from the broccolini to thick slices of onion. Even their potato chips were in-house. As vegans, food options are usually limited or not well thought out, so love finding a place where all components are top tier. Can't wait to bring others and get their thoughts on the non-veg options.
