    Kale salad

OMG can't say enough good things about this place! Absolutely delicious veggie options. The squash was amazing and holy smokes, those faux fish baja tacos were to die for. Kale salad very good too. Yum!! Servers were lovely and I can't wait to go back soon!!

This place could be better. Definitely a lot of improvement is needed. The food was ok to mediocre. The service was not that great. My friend who is Mexican felt she was treated very poorly and rude. We were not impressed with the food and service. I do have to say the water view is nice. Most people come here for drinks and for the water view and definitely not for the food. If you want really good Mexican food just go up past Gibson Landing to Salt & Swine. Prices are cheaper at Salt & Swine and on top better food and service. My friend also found it a joke that when she asked for salsa a few times and they finally bought it to her, they got the wrong type of salsa for her tacos. They bought her chip salsa. Guess People at Lunitas don't know Mexican food very well. My friend felt very offended. My friend said that the tortilla is the Mexican one but the filling inside the tortillas was not very authentic. On top, we were told the pork belly tortillas would be very spicy. It was not spicy at all. I don't think we will be back again.

To say that this place is amazing would be an understatement. We actually planned our trip to the Sunshine Coast based on our reservations to Lunitas. And then halfway through our meal there, it was decided that we had to go back the very next night. We came across this place about two years ago and we waited quite a while for a table but it was worth it and like this time, we dined there the very next night as well. Two years later and we still talk about the amazing food and service as this place, hence the trip back to the Sunshine Coast. Two of my favorite things here are the pork belly tacos and the street corn. The pork belly is grilled to perfection and the pineapple Serrano hot sauce adds the perfect little kick to it. If I could have jarred that up and taken it home with me. The street corn is nicely grilled and then topped with chili garlic aioli and a generous amount of cheese. It can be a messy eat but it is so worth it. To finish off the perfect dinner, I highly suggest the Lunitas Carajillo.

Great service and location, it might be slightly difficult if you have walking or trouble climbing stairs to access. The food was very tasty and the drinks were yummy. The meat was slightly dry on our carnitas but it did not stop us from devouring our food. The kale salad was spectacular. The restaurant also has a very colorful and beautifully decorated space

I absolutely loved my time at Lunitas this passed weekend! The staff was AWESOME - so friendly and so chatty and knowledgeable. They gave great recommendations based on what we told them we like. We ordered the queso bean dip to start with margaritas and absolutely LOVES the goooooey cheesy been dip. I like this take on queso! They actually gave enough chips too which is always appreciated. I hate when restos give you like five chips lol. We also got the baja fish tacos, cumin prawn tacos and KFC chicken tacos (Korean fried) and every single one was so flavourful and delicious! Also loved that they serve on two tortillas as it provides a great solid base for all the filling they put in the tacos! The tacos and dip were a massive hit for my partner and I! I also loved the multiple hot sauces they had that we could choose from. The margaritas were good but I've definitely had better elsewhere (Mezcaleria/El Segundo) but they are still quite refreshing and yummy here! Definitely do not wanna miss this spot if you head to Gibsons! It's a real winner!

Before travel restrictions, my husband and I went to the sunshine coast for a break and Lunitas Mexican Eatery was a nice lunch spot. Plenty of Covid precautions made us feel safe and tables were spaced out. It was chilly when we went but there was heated patio outside overlooking the water, which looked really pretty. We ordered via an online menu, I got Agave Lime Chicken and my hubby got the Carnitas, each bowl was $16. The food was fresh and a great mix of flavours. They were accommodating with ingredient changes due to some of my pregnancy restrictions. A little on the pricy side but as expected out here and it was a fulfilling bowl. Only downside was the Horchata drink we got - it was super tiny and 75% ice, not much drink was had for the price but the flavour was good - just wish there was more of it for $3. Overall, nice service and atmosphere!

What an absolutely delicious discovery! We had read about the great reviews online, but were drawn by the fact that this restaurant was by the water. I cannot praise enough, how glad I am that we decided to go! Lots of vegetarian choices to begin with! We shared the guacamole and chips, tried all the vegetarian tacos and had their special corn! Wow flavours were exploding from every dish! I cannot recommend the corn enough, I have never tasted something so delicious! We also ordered some cocktails, which were also absolutely on point. And, let's not forget the amazing service! So do yourself a favour and go! I cannot wait to be returning!

Who doesn't love Mexican? Especially one by the water! Place is quaint and nicely situated in front of the water in a little area of Gibsons. They have a great selection of tacos for vegetarians! (Not that I am one) Make sure you start with their charred guacamole!! Delish! My favourite was the batter fish taco! Love the crunchiness of the taco and the batter wasn't too heavy. The drunken prawns taco was plump and juicy! The mushroom taco was a little too messy but still tasted good. Their drinks were great also! Always go for the doubles! The only issue I had was the server trying to grab at things by making hand gesture and without using her words, but super friendly though. :)

Finding a place to eat in the Fall in Gibsons on a Monday night was no easy feat with lots of places closed during the start of the week but we were so lucky to have managed to get into Lunitas! The hour wait in the rain was well worth it if that is any indication of a good spot! The Fundido Platter is a must try! Hot cheese and a white bean purée was served in a cast iron dish keeping it hot and included salsas and guacamole. We also had the grilled street corn, Mexican kale Caesar salad and fish tacos. Every dish was unique and so flavourful! On top of our great meal, service was top notch! Our hostess was apologetic of under estimating our wait time and came by after we'd been seated to check on us during our meal and our server was fantastic. Two thumps up to this Sunshine Coast Mexican eatery!

We had delicious bowls here as well as tasty drinks! Was definitely a busy place, and would go back if we are in Gibsons again!

A bit of a wait today but not too bad. Recommend others to make a reservation next time but since most people are their to grab a drink or/and bite so they come and go pretty fast. Some outdoor sittings and some indoor. A small area outdoor isn't cover but one part of the outdoor sitting is covered. Street parkings and bus stops on the main road, take the stairs on the side to the dock and Lunitas will be there, you just need to take their stairs up to the second floor. Food and drinks are delicious. The sweet corn tamale is a must try! Alcohol isn't the strongest but enough for me to taste it. Tacos are yummy, especially the shrimp is my favourite. The mushroom taco is good too but a bit spicy for me, but if you're into spicy then you have to check it out! Cute decor and very attention and friendly staff. My only criticism would be the bathroom is quite dirty and wet everywhere (floor, seats, etc.)

They also had a Halloween cocktail list. The hostess was friendly, but our server killed our experience. Her words were friendly but her facial expressions and body language revealed how much she disliked serving us. My husband and I spoke after, we both felt she was probably racist. Their happy hour menu had a big selection of food items but no drinks. Everything was pretty expensive for happy hour. We tried the raw Albertan elk tartare and potato puffs. We enjoyed both dishes and the portions were big. As much as we enjoyed the food, we probably won't return due to the slow and uncomfortable service.

Though the restaurant was largely empty when we arrived, we were sat at a booth that at best sat 4 and was not enough for the 5 in our group. We tend to eat lots of appetizers rather than one big meal so I knew the table would not work - we asked to be moved and the server was quite confrontational - she eventually agreed to move us to one of two larger tables that was available the whole time we were there! But it was a weird start and had we not already ordered drinks and it been a Saturday night with most places booked - I would have walked as I don't ever recall been talked to like that in a restaurant and my guess is they moved us in time to stop us leaving. She also told us that she would stagger courses appropriately- that never happened. Pretty much everything arrived at once which I wondered if it was an attempt to flip the table quickly for other large parties - who were not exactly lining up in abundance. The other large table sat empty even after we left. It arrived so, so fast I would guess that a lot of it was pre prepared and just heated up as multiple plates were brought out less than 10 minutes of ordering. Also most of the appetizers and salad arrived last so they seemingly did not know or care to course appropriately. We also ended up stacking dishes at the end of the table as they were not removed- though to be fair, they appeared to be woefully understaffed . Food had some hits and some misses .The meat eaters loved the chicken, the shishito peppers were excellent, , watermelon salad was good, potatoes croquettes were a shadow of their former selves and needed more flavor , mussels were okay and the Creme brûlée was gritty! Weird vibe, mediocre service, food was just okay - much better places to eat in the Village so I wont go back.

Our AirBnB hosts listed it as the only 5-star restaurant in town so we made a last minute reservation, which they graciously accommodated. What a great choice! First impressions don't convey 5-star, but once we settled in, the cozy and casual ambience was perfect. They have an extensive cocktail and wine list and we dove into the cocktail section. Really smart and interesting selection - would've loved to try more than two. We had a featured appetizer - an heirloom tomato salad with goats cheese and gazpacho dressing. Fresh, well presented and delicious. We also ordered the bread with lemon butter and olive oil. The multigrain bread was fantastic! For mains, I had the kobe beef and my partner had the meatballs with a side of roasted carrots. The beef melted in my mouth and the chimichurri sauce was possibly the best I've had. The meatballs and carrots had a decidedly north african flavour profile and were beautiful and balanced. Their menu is fantastic - if we lived nearby we would return to try almost everything. So glad we didn't stay to eat dinner in way-too-touristy Whistler or we would've missed out on this gem.
