Place was clean, very friendly server, but as others have said food was WAY overpriced for what you get. They start you with a small amount of stale chips and completely flavorless salsa. The guacamole appetizer was equally flavorless, but I did enjoy the the carnitas empanadas. The entrees are where they nickel and dime you, you'll have to pay extra for everything that normally comes with Mexican food, sour cream and $1 for each ounce of hot sauce. The ratio of meat is very small. For what you'd pay for a taco dinner with rice and beans anywhere else you will only get 4 very tiny tacos here, they even go cheap by using a single tortilla where every other place double wraps them (probably cuz of the lack of ingredients). If I'm gonna overpay for Mexican I'll go to nearby Orale Guey. Bigger portions, selection, and better meat quality. And better hot sauce. Nicer ambiance too. read more

The service was fine. We went on a a Sunday afternoon and it was dead. The inside is pretty small, and they had cloth tablecloths. We chose to sit outside which was nice, but overlooking a pretty busy road. The serving of chips and salsa was super small. I ordered the enchiladas, and they were ok. A return visit to the place I had my first cucumber margarita. And yes, the pepino marg was still great! When we got there at around 5:30, we were only the second table, but by the time we left, the joint was full! That's good to see these days when the only lines for dining are at the Portillo's drive-thru. The food is still very good at Lupita's. I tried the Cochnita Pibil, and it was very good. The service was very good, and the restaurant is clean. Ingredients were fresh. I ordered the chicken quesadillas which were disappointing. The fajitas were very small actually charged extra for additional tortillas. Avocado and sour cream was extra which was disappointing. Menu said the chicken fajitas for $16, I was charged almost $20. Reading the reviews comparing Lupita's to Bien Trucha is ridic'. Two different neighborhoods and clienteles. The service here blows away BTs by far. Attentive but not overbearing. The food while not as innovative, is both succulent and flavorful. The margaritas are also flavorful and well made. Try the Kiwi and Guayaba. Not to be missed. First off, the food is really good. I'm a bit perplexed on the restaurants point of view. The food is very overpriced when you consider the casual location and environment. It looks like a diner inside with really cheap furniture and white tablecloths. Everything is à la cart Which is a disappointment considering the prices. Rice and beans are five dollars apiece. Chips and salsa are initially complementary for a ridiculously small serving, but there is a cost for an additional serving. Service is good. I would love to eat the food again, but we don't feel that it's a good value. And we eat at high-end restaurants weekly. But the environment just doesn't fit the prices. read more

Man. . . I really tried to like it. Gave it 2 stars because my steak, watermelon margaritas, and churros were good. Sat down and there was no A/C on a hot and humid day. The thermostat said the temp in the restaurant was 85°. We all were served bottles of water when we sat down. Didn't ask for them. Found out at the end that they charged us for them! All the food was kind of bland. Something wasn't right with the ceviche. . . The empinadas were cold in the middle. As a matter of fact, most of the food was room temp. Half the people didn't even finish half their food. 5 people at our table, one didn't order a dinner. $260 bill plus a $50 tip. Expensive day for what was pretty underwhelming. read more

Went out for lunch after a doctors appointment and this little gem was recommended by the nurse and receptionist at the MRI location around the corner. Location is tucked in the strip mall, the hubby and I love trying locations like these. Parking is convenient, but I could imagine it would be hard to find a spot during dinner time! We walked into a cute location, not pack only two other tables were full, we walked in and were great by a gentlemen (didn't catch his name), seated and was ask for our drink order right away! One of my favorite things is where they ask if we know... hubby and I are pretty set with drinks especially for lunch so we don't need much time. Menus were brought with our drinks, specials explained and recommendations were given without the waiter being pushy which was really nice! This isn't you local fast food taco joint, the presentation was simplistic yet enticing which is all part of the experience! I don't believe I have seen a more enchanting guacamole presentation as theirs! Although I did think they were a bit skimpy on the amount, but considering how accommodating they were, it wouldn't have been an issue if we had want more! Flavors in the guacamole were fresh and wonderful.... definitely recommend! The salsa was flavorful but not hot, however I felt that it was almost like a broth, there was not chunks of ingredients which was a bit disappointing but was good nonetheless! Now onto the tacos.... by far they had the best breaded shrimp tacos I have ever tasted, the shrimp was cooked perfectly the breading was amazing and tasted but didn't over power the shrimp the sauce on the taco was INCREDIBLE!!! If you go I hope you stop in on the day that this is the special!!!!!!!!!!! The steak tacos were very very good but I wish they would've brought those out before the shrimp because there was no following such an amazing blend of flavors !!!! Super nice people! We stopped by on our way out to Sycamore Speedway for a quick bite. The service was quick and the facilities were very well kept. Bathrooms were clean and the margaritas were cold but could be a little stronger. Yet everybody knows the true test of any Mexican eatery is the free chips and salsa, this is a deal breaker for me and my peeps and Lupita's Cocina delivers. The Chippies are crunchy and not too greasy, salsa was fresh and bright. My wife had the pastor tacos which were fresh and bright. At our waiters suggestion I chose the steak fajitas and was very impressed with the quality of meat and very fresh veggies.
