Tried Altiro in Geneva. It was a Saturday around lunch time and I was literally the only person in the restaurant which was a little weird. The menu is a little different from what I thought. I ordered the al alambre - a little surprising. The meat which included steak and chorizo came in a little pot with melted cheese. The steak was a little bit tough, and the chorizo was a little spicy. Cost $22 which seemed a little pricey for the dish. The server was ok I suppose. The ambience was cute, clean. Parking in front of the restaurant.

Cute little place with great food and drinks! Highlights included La Coladita cocktail and the fundido tacos with shrimp. It was quiet on Weds night and our server was helpful and guided us well. I don't live in the area but hope to come back when I'm back this way.

First time visiting and everything was so good! Location is in a residential neighborhood but it's convenient and parking is available. The overall ambience is modern Mexican with a twist. It's a tapas style with small bites to share. The margaritas were freshly made and you can taste the difference with the ingredients. The tacos were so good, the carnitas steak and shrimp! Will definitely be back!

Love the new location! Great service and atmosphere downtown Geneva. Drinks , as always, excellent

Two kinds of cemitas (cut in half) and al papa brava to-go, crazy good

Been going to Altiro for years. The salsas, tacos, and drinks are outstanding, as is the atmosphere during a nice night of outdoor dining, with the string lights and music. Good for family, dates, friends' nights out. But I came on here to give a shoutout to their lunch menu, which we finally tried as takeout. I had heard about the sandwiches known as cemitas that originated from the Puebla area, and discovered Altiro makes them until 2 pm only. We ordered the Al Pollo Frito (crispy chicken with avocado) and Al Hambre (steak, chorizo, and pineapple) cemitas and MAN WERE THEY GOOD. Like, a flavor explosion for your tastebuds. A little spicy, which perks my husband and me right up. The neatest part was the cemita bread (which the sandwich is named for)--it's a crackly, yet soft sesame bun and when I went to cut it in half (so we could share each kind) I was suprised by the toastiness. Holds all the ingredients nicely. Also got the Al Papa Brava because those are a staple, bringing us right back to memories of Barcelona. But don't sleep on the cemitas! You can't get those just anywhere in the area, and at such high quality.

Took a ride, looked on line and came to this authentic gem of a place. A lovely mojito, along w/a sunny, outside dining experience. Light food with magnificent flavors!!! Our server Victor, EXCELLENT, personality, hospitality, and intelligence of menus. Very fresh infused flavors, and textures, to balance your delights. THE CHARMING INSIDE, TABLES w/the GREEN WALL, partial exposed kitchen, and decor extremely welcoming. Soft sounds, of Viva Latina! Gracias!

Took my daughter on a Valentines date here and what a lovely experience. It's definitely on the smaller side as far as space but has great esthetic. The food was bursting with flavor! Loved the sauces on everything. Tapas style. Service was wonderful and the owner who I think was hosting at the door was wonderful, asked us about our experience afterwards. I will always live for Mezcal old fashioned and their cocktails were delicious too! Parking was easily available in front.

This place was such a treat that it warrants my immediate review! My husband and I walked in at 5pm hoping to grab a quick bite before a salsa dancing class at 6pm. This super-cute restaurant with outdoor patio was delicious, fast, and completely worth every penny. Shout out to our server Ale who was kind and had great recommendations for us. First, we tried the guac trio. The chips hold up to the trio of flavorful lime-forward guacamole. We had the poblano soup which was so good and had little pomegranate seeds in it which was so yummy! Then papas bravas. A tapas staple. Love the sauces, but my only complaint is that there was almost too much sauce., The camaronchizo tacos (shrimp + chorizo) were excellent. Who knew the two went together so well? It has a lightly textured slaw on top that was a great counterpoint. We finished with a Mexican spin on tiramisu. Wow! All was delish. We will be back, next time with friends!

This place is a little off the main downtown but nearby! It has a cute open atmosphere. Service was very friendly. We started with the guacamole. It's comes in 3. We didn't care for the watermelon one but enjoyed the pineapple guacamole. We thought all of them needed salt. Not bad, but lacked seasoning. The esquites was served with the guacamole. It was good! I would order this again. The ratio of ingredients was perfect! The steak tacos were missing flavor. Could be just lacking salt again. The meat was cooked perfectly. I really enjoyed the chicken tacos! Full of flavor and cooked perfectly! I loved the pineapple and seasoning on the chicken. My friends also had the shrimp tacos and loved them!

This place offers delightful treat for your tastebuds. And the servers were super friendly!!

This place has been on my list for awhile and I'm happy that I finally made it here! It is over the top delicious and satisfying. The cocktails are made with fresh fruit and crafted perfectly. I had the Ala Coladita and goodness it was so refreshing and warm at the same time, haha. Idk how else to explain it other than it's a MUST try. My friend had a strawberry margarita and that was good too. We started with the trio of guacamole and it was decent, I'd pass on it again though only bc guac is guac in my opinion. Next we had the Ala Gallina tacos and I really enjoyed those. Just enough heat and sweetness to balance it out. We also had the Ala paella and it was definitely not what I was expecting, in a good way too! All the proteins were cooked perfectly. The way I ate it was I put a little out of everything on the pieces of bread that came with it. VERY GOOD and I recommend eating it that way too. My only 'con' is I thought it should have had way more rice. I'm used to paella drowning with rice so this was different for me. The staff was very helpful, I did not feel rushed to order and I also did not feel forced to keep ordering more. I have a shrimp allergy and our server was accommodating to that - we ended up with more salmon since we removed the shrimp from the paella. The decor here is so nice! It's welcoming, chill and sophisticated. This is a great spot for date nights, girls night outs, family dinners, etc you name it! I'll be coming back here more often. Altiro is officially in my top 10 favorite suburban restaurants list for 2023.

This place is incredible... the food is to die for. It's the first place I've been to and did not feel like bloated or so full to where I was sick because the portions were perfect. Nothing here fell short, in fact it's the first place in the burbs where the food wasn't overly salted or fried in some type of oil. Everything tasted fresh. The flavors were busting up in my mouth every bite I took, even down to snowball fight drink we had. I highly, highly recommend the bread cheese appetizer- this was something super unique to me as I've only had grilled up cheese one other time in Brazil, Queijo Coalho.... There was a beautiful twist on this cheese- crunchy, creamy, sweet, savory and the honey and tabbouleh were such a great finish to this dish. Pair this with the fresh bread and it was chefs kiss! We had the beer braised short rib and seabass- two completely different flavored entres that we absolutely perfect. The short rib you literally can't go wrong with- melted in my mouth with every bite - and hats off the the chef who cooked the onions so perfect to actually be able to taste them instead of just carmelizing or salting them! I would call this your typical Midwest comfort dish. The seabass was much different the salad was tangy with the lentils being rich- add a nice cooked crispy top seabass and you got yourself a unique dish of flavors that will have you thinking what's in it after hours! But the star of the show was dessert of course - OMFG - s'mores ice cream sunday ....... I died and went to heaven literally. I have never tasted ice cream that mimicked everything I've ever wanted my ice cream to taste like. It was the perfect temperature (trust me a lot of restaurants it's either rock hard or melted) this was epic. Creamy, almost pudding like and being able to taste every note was wild to me. The graham cracker - yes the freaking graham cracker was the best one I've ever tasted in my life. Clearly I've never had a graham cracker without preservatives before. The chocolate syrup .... Jeeze let me tell if I could swim in it I would.... The service was friendly, prompt and right on time. The server knew all the cues and timing of all the food to come out. She checked in everytime we got something to make sure everything was just right... you can tell she takes her job seriously but also knows how to interact with people - something a lot of servers lack these days so we really appreciated the service. As for the atmosphere- this place blows a lot of the chi city restaurants out of the water. The organic feel but fancy! Oh, and I can actually talk and hear myself think without blasting music over my head. We will be back ... but honestly please change nothing here- everything you're doing here is fantastic!

We initially tried to dine at Tia Carmen's downstairs, but the wait was too long--so we headed upstairs to Revolución instead. We were among the first guests. The service was friendly, though not particularly attentive. Our server didn't check in often, and we had to wait quite a while for water--thankfully, the busser eventually stepped in and kept our glasses full. The food was tasty overall. We weren't fans of the chips served with the guacamole; they were more like plain tortillas--dry and lacking salt. That said, the rest of the meal was enjoyable. My suggestion to management: even when it's slow, make sure tables have water and guests are checked on regularly. A little extra attentiveness would go a long way in improving the experience.

The Birria egg rolls were a bit on the smaller side but made a big impression with its preparation. I've never had birria wrapped in anything as crispy as the wonton wrapper this was wrapped in. The birria was flavorful while being tender and not being too salty. The white cheddar and chihuahua cheese added a small amount of extra saltiness and a bit more fat, which matched well with the chipotle aiola. The duck poutine was incredibly flavorful, while sitting on the edge of potentially being too bold. The fries were incredibly crispy though there was quite a bit of gravy on the dish and the white cheddar cheese curds did a great job of keeping the entire dish hot throughout the meal, while adding a little bit of extra flavor. The bacon and onion added some umami though it almost made the dish a bit too salty and the duck confit added a nice protein element. Overall a little pricey, but given the more unique menu and quality of both the flavors and textures, it's worth the premium. Our level of anticipation evaporated almost immediately when we were assaulted by the sound. The singer on stage accompanied by a bass so loud that my bones vibrated. Was the singer good? Couldn't tell because his voice was overpowered by the music. And even though the night was advertised as a Sinatra night....Elvis entertained as much as ole blue eyes. Our group of six were jammed into a booth meant for 4 people against a wall directly in line with the speaker. That means the sound hit us, then the wall, hitting us again as sound travels. We asked if it was possible to lower the volume. No one could talk or communicate during the performance. It was temporarily lowered and then the singer signaled the sound man to up the volume again. How was the food you ask? Three of us had the fish and it was excellent. The Chacuterie tray was well appointed but the salads that followed were bland and the seasonal vegetables consisted of mostly bell peppers with a carrot thrown in. Again..perhaps we would have enjoyed our meal more without the vibrations and incredibly loud music. I downloaded a decibel meter. It said that music in a restaurant should range between 50-65 decibels; my meter averaged 90+ during the show. We spoke with a kind and understandable waiter but not the manager. Management should know from us; this was a one and done. I'm still trying to figure out why other patrons were applauding loudly when you really didn't hear the music. I'd like to say you should try it for the experience but DON'T waste your money to be attacked by sound for 2 hours.
