She gave me a salsa container with dried salsa around the rim, served my meal with crusty beans (yuck), and didn't have the kitchen replace their cheese sauce with shredded cheese as I requested. Aahhh! This is not good. The only thing I would dream of suggesting is the $1 margarita pitchers. And only because they're dirt cheap.

Our family went yesterday afternoon around 3:30 (Sept. 27) It was our daughters 48th birthday. Not only was the food great and fresh but our server was AWESOME! I wish I knew her name. She went above and beyond her normal job and came out with a surprise desert that she also put a lit candle on and we all (including her) sang happy birthday. First time eating here and we loved it! The colorful tables, chairs and decor are beautiful and are perfect for a Mexican restaurant. The menu has many selections and all look great. We had the California Burrito (huge!) #51 and the Mexican Special Combo #59. (Awesome!). Everything tasted authentic and fresh. Will definitely be going back. read more

We have been here 4 times so far and I don't see why all the negative reviews. The food is good, reasonably priced and a good amount of food on your plate. I always have to get a box for leftovers. Is it Mexico?? No. Is it a Mexican restaurant in a border state where they get fresh chili peppers and other traditional ingredients? Food wise, it could definitely be better but it is typical Tex-Mex food. Since I'm not really into Tex-Mex food besides nachos which I get at Agave, I usually don't order food here. I think I've ordered food here twice in my lifetime and they were just okay, nothing special. The only days that I would even think about going here are Tuesday or Thursday, which are $0.99 Margarita nights. How can you say no to that? Staff is very friendly and place is usually low-key every day besides Tuesdays/Thursdays evening. Just be aware that service may be hindered on Tuesday and Thursday. My daughter, grandkids and I stopped for lunch, it was approx. 1:30 pm and not busy at all, one table besides us and a guy at the bar. Our waitress was standing right behind us visiting with two other girls who seemed to be employees but we sat for quite awhile waiting to order. My daughter finally turned around to tell her we were ready. We both got a lunch sized fajita meal. The meat was dry, the rice was tasteless, we had to ask for lime wedges several times. The sour cream that came on the plate was literally no more than a tablespoon and when we requested more, we got one dish, again with about a tablespoon in it. My daughter asked if cheese was supposed to come with the meal, which in any other Mexican restaurant, It's on the plate, but they charged extra for it. I have lived in numerous states that can be considered heavily populated with hispanic/latino decendants. I have had my share of mexican food from traditional mexican to tex/mex. Lupita's has the most flavorful and authentic taste of any of the local mexican eateries. The service has never been bad and the food is consistently amazing. Margaritas remind me of California style drinks... go for them on the rocks. The price tag is reasonable and well worth numerous visits read more

Used to be one of my favorite places in Lorain County. The Margaritas are excellent. I was craving one today until I had the memory of being there last spring. I left my wallet on the seat and a huge amount of cash was taken from it. I filed a police report, wrote several letters, etc... Good food. Tasty salsa! I grew up with homemade Mexican food so I am incredibly picky and have yet to find any Mexican restaurant in Ohio that comes close to really good authentic food. The lack of quality tortillas is a major problem. So, I base my reviews on salsa quality, quality of beans and rice and over taste of food. I think Lupita's does a good job overall. I had Taquitos Mexicanos, I prefer my flautas made with corn tortillas but despite that the fillings were seasoned well, one beef and one chicken, and guacamole was good. Hubby had tacos de carne asada. He thought they were decent. He loved the pico de Gallo served with the tacos. Again, I've had worse and Lupita's is better than most Mexican to be found in NE Ohio. read more

Perhaps I am biased since I am from California but, the food was awful. I taco was served in a hard tortilla shell that was stale, the rice was bland and chile relleno wasn't filled with much cheese. When I explained that the taco was stale and tasteless, the server took and I told him I didn't want it at all. The chicken was flavorless and the tortilla was stale. In authentic Mexican food, those "shells" are not used. That being said, the shell was falling apart as well. The waiter brought me another one and I explained again that I didn't want it at all now. He insisted that it was my fault so I should try the new taco. I didn't. He still charged me for something I didn't eat and sent back. I told him that I shouldn't be charged for that but he disagreed. Simply because I was with a group, I didn't argue it but the food and service was awful. My group members had to ask for water several times and one person had to wait for his food much longer even though he ordered when the rest of us ordered. I am only giving this establishment because my colleagues said the margaritas were great. I don't drink but the margaritas are $.99 on Tuesday. Perhaps if I had been inebriated, I would have enjoyed the food. But being a Californian and knowing real Mexican food, I would have to say this place sucked. If authenticity and good service is what you're looking for, avoid this place. read more

Been here many times before - told husband, yea, you'll love it! HA. Walked in at 11:50 on a Saturday morning, one other table in the place, finishing up. Hostess seated us promptly. Then we waited for 5 minutes to be greeted by same person who seated us. She took our drink order. 10 minutes later, drinks still hadn't arrived. Waitress was no where to be seen. Other table was looking around and around waiting for their bill. Other table had to ask someone at the bar to go get their check. We left without ever receiving drinks. Went straight to El Patron at Chestnut Commons, and had chips, drinks, appetizers and meals before we probably would have even had our drinks at Lupitas. Uh! read more
