We had a very good lunch here. Portions were large, prices were reasonable, and the food was very good. The restaurant is located on the west side of Dixie Highway. Inside it's very decorated with flowers, signs, hats, and colorful designs. Lively Mexican music was playing. They have a lunch specials menu. I took advantange of that and ordered their shrimp fajitas. First came a large plate with yellow rice, refried beans, and pico de gallo. I left off the lettuce. A separate colorful basket with a lid was delivered next with hot tortillas wrapped in foil -- that kept hot the entire time. And a sizzling skillet came with grilled onions and peppers and shrimp. The meal was delicious. I even took some home including all the tortillas. My husband was in the mood for breakfast -- which they do all day. He got their huevos ranchero. The two lightly fried sunny side up eggs on top of a tortilla were covered with sauce and cheese. The plate also had refried beans, rice, and salad. He said it was very good. Just what he was in the mood for... We'd definitely return here. Service was also very good. And there are a lot more things I'd like to try on their menu. read more

I knew that this place had gone down in quality and they had a problem with passing their cleanliness inspections in the past but learning they had new owners and they had cleaned up the place, I was willing to give this updated place a do over. The interior decor may have changed but my opinion of this place hasn't. The decor is tex-mex cute and colorful. The service was friendly but absolutely clueless. The food was reasonably priced for portion size but the quality was really low. We enjoyed the complimentary basket of fried flour tortilla chips and the salsa was basic but okay. The Carne Asada Nacho platter was disappointing in the ingredients. It was supposed to have guacamole on it but it was more of an avocado cream and very liquidy. The asada meat was seasoned well but it was chewy in a bad way. The chicken burrito was heavy but full of too much rice and it was lacking seasoning. The Tamale Platter was nice and freshly made. The rice and beans on the side was not housemade but from a can. I think the new owners are trying to cut too many corners and will not get repeat customers. There was just nothing special about anything at this place and even their only hot sauce that can be added for some heat to the meal is a watered down green tomatillo mild sauce or a red pepper mild sauce which both are served in a cold squirt bottle unless you pay almost $2 for a small roasted jalapeño. I will pass on a return visit and look for new authentic Mexican fare. read more

The interior has gotten a lot nicer. The walls and seating are all creatively painted with vibrant murals and decor scattered throughout. I recall it being more shack-like in the past. This location has it's old time Florida charm. I love the updates. This was my first time exploring the meats and fish at Lupita's. I went with a carne asada/steak sope and a fish taco. My bestie went with a carne asada chimichanga, chicken taco, and a horchata. They started us out with homemade chips and salsa. The shell to the carne asada sope was crunchy and homemade, flavorfully topped with a medley of freshness -- pico de gallo, lettuce, salsa, and avocado. Wonderful lively restaurant just off Dixie in Lake Worth close to Publix. You order at the counter and they will bring your meal to you if you are eating in. The emu is extensive including breakfast as well as many types of tacos and other Mexican foods. I ordered two tacos and they brought me chips and salsa while I waited for my food. The tacos I ordered were delicious and were served with red and green sauce and onions a pepper and radish on the side. Lupitas has been my go to for tex mex for 20 years, until now. I don't know what changed, but the quality has taken a nose dive. I've been going to lupitas for over seven years. I absolutely love their food and their hot sauce. For some reason today, September 24 the girl on the register hung up on me three times so I gave up trying to place an order over the phone and came in. She rang me up for the wrong item, told me that the kitchen hadn't started making it yet so she just told them to make my item instead. She never checked the food before giving it to me thankfully, I checked it and saw that the wrong item was given to me so I was able to have it corrected before leaving. It also seems like the hot sauce recipe was changed. It wasn't spicy at all! It seemed like I was just putting water on my food. I even had my husband try it who doesn't like spicy food and he agreed it had no spice to it whatsoever. I understand that it's gone through a change of management, but if you continue to have people like that, working at your restaurant, you're gonna lose a lot of business and please go back to the original hot sauce recipe this new one just ain't it. read more

I hate doing this to small businesses but I want to make others aware - to be mindful - since the person at the counter was not forthcoming. This review is on the counter service and unethical business practice. I gave it 3 stars because I didn't eat the food there. We placed our order and I thought it was higher than what the menu display showed. There are two hidden "fees" that they did not upfront tell me about, and only did when I questioned the total amount: 1. There is a credit card fee. What percent I do not know. There is no sign about a credit card fee. There are many small businesses charging the fee , I get it. Just be upfront about it with a simple note at the register, or the cashier needs to inform the customer. So either pay with cash or know they will charge you a fee to pay with a credit card. 2. They increased the prices in their system but this is not reflected on the big menu display up and behind the counter. I do not like this kind of business practices. I support small businesses when I can. Just be upfront. read more

We haven't been here in a while and we usually enjoy ourselves. It was good to go back. We ordered to go this time. Location: facing east on dixie highway. You can't miss it, the signage is great. It is across from the publix. They have their own parking lot with plenty of parking. Heads up: the traffic is always hectic around there. Please be aware! Atmosphere: casual. There is plenty of space inside to eat and it's spaced really well Food: Awesome tacos! We had the shrimp and the chorizo. What I enjoy about this chorizo is that it's never over oily. It is nicely seasoned with just the right amount of burn. The shrimp was done really well and there was a good amount for the price we paid. My only complaint is that I wish they would have given us separate containers for each kind. Not a huge deal but, just a wish. We have had a quesadilla from here before and really enjoyed that. I would really love to try the tamales next time. The only issue I have ever had with their food was this past time with the guacamole. Guac is one of my favorite foods and I was really disappointed In this one. It was literally green mush with pepper..no other veggies mixed in and I am thinking it was avocado puree??? This is what brought it down a star for me. Customer service: It was and still is wonderful. They have always had our food ready within 10 minutes and they had it nicely packed when we went to go pick our to go order up. Nothing amazing about this place but I kind of liked that about it, chill and an easy experience. One thing that was surprising to me, it was very expensive! The menu is very common for a Mexican restaurant, burritos, enchiladas, etc. I ordered a smothered burrito with pastor, which ended up being so big that it took up half the inside of an entree to-go clamshell container (see photo). I hate to do this because this was my favorite Mexican restaurant in south Florida. My family has been coming here for five years. But the past three times we've come here have had horrible, rude service by the teenagers up front. My wife is Venezuelan and speaks Spanish and asked, in Spanish, for a ground beef taco for my son. They made a shredded beef taco. My wife politely requested they fix it and the two teenage girls said "no you didn't ask for it correctly and we're not going to replace it". My wife explained that she asked for ground beef and they looked right in her face and said "we are not changing it" Unbelievable. As I said I've been coming here for almost five years. We've loved the family atmosphere and the people that worked there. But the teenagers they've hired there now don't care. They stand around on their phones. There's an amazing guacamole sauce that comes on top and really brought the taste of the corn tortilla all together. My friend works in the area so we decided to try this place out and she got a breakfast burrito (for dinner?!) and decided this'll be her go to place for breakfast burritos in lake worth. Overall, the tacos are pretty cheap (about $3), food tastes great, and it's pretty easy to find/park. The only draw back I'd say was that the food was served on disposable plates and plastic silverware - I almost wish I would've taken it to go to reduce the waste but that's just the environmentalist in me! Located right across from Publix, Lupitas is this great no-frills, down-to-earth joint that serves awesome tacos. Personally, I am a big fan of their carnitas tacos with guac and their lengua, which is quite good as well. When you can get four tacos regularly for under $10, and they're delectable and delightful, you know this is going to be a go-to. I've ordered take out there as well as ate there. They have outdoor seating with chess board painted/engraved on for those that want to do checkers or chess while noshing away on some good eats. The interior is bright colors of red, greens, and yellow. Really polite and friendly staff that have always made sure you've gotten what you've wanted. Being 5 minutes away from Lupita doesn't hurt either. So if you're looking for great tacos and burritos that will change your life? Come to Lupita. read more
