Boy do I wish I had found this place long ago -- all the mediocre Mexican food I've paid too much for over the last two decades! The only major drawback to Anita's is that there is no liquor... no margaritas. I do love a margarita with my Mexican. Corona is available, however, with a couple other beers. The space is very small and looks like a cafeteria. You order at the counter and wait. I loved the two chimichangas I've had there (one carnitas and one carne asada), which makes sense since other reviewers rave about the burritos. I had a good ground beef tostada too. The prices are totally fair, and I've spoken to four different customers on my two visits there who all told me it's the best California Mexican they've found in S FL, and a gem overall. One long-time customer told me his go-to is the taco salad, and it did look great. I went the second time within a week of the first, so I expect to make visit number three very soon. read more

I was recommended this restaurant through word of mouth at my office. I called to ask if they delivered and was told they did. I stated I would call back after reviewing the menu to place my order. When I called back to place my delivery order I was told by a different employee that they did not deliver. I proceeded to place a takeout order instead. I ordered the #10 combination platter (2 carne asada tacos w/ lettuce, pico de gallo, rice, & refried beans). I requested cheese to be added to the tacos and no pico de gallo. I also requested two sides of sour cream, but only received one. The tacos were hot and fresh but flavourless. Literally no taste whatsoever. I loaded it with sour scream to try to make it eatable. What I thought was lettuce melted under the cheese was actually guacamole. I personally hate guac so that ruined the rest of the tacos for me. The refried beans were beyond bland. The yellow rice was decent in taste. Anita's had one chance to make an impression and based on my experience I would not recommend or return. read more

A true hole in the wall, and a delicious one at that! Heard about Anita's on Yelp and finally was down in the West Palm Beach area with no lunch plans. Decided to stop in and see what they had to offer and I was blown away. Such an incredible array of authentic Mexican food served by a wonderful team of ladies. I was especially happy with all the COVID precautions being taken: wiping down tables immediately after customers leave, hand sanitizer, plastic barriers, some tables blocked off to promote social distancing. We chose to try some combo plates this time so that we could taste a variety of dishes they offered. We ended up getting a #3 (Shredded Beef Burrito and Cheese Enchilada) and a #4 (Chicken Taco and Chicken Enchilada). The combos are served with rice and refried beans. We also got an orders of chips and guacamole. The combos were so tasty. Everything tasted fresh and truly authentic compared to some other restaurants I've been to. I really liked the rice and my mom said the refried beans were her favorite part of the meal! I wasn't a huge fan of the guacamole as it wasn't too flavorful, but the chips were good. For the size of the portion we received, the price was just right! I love that the menu features a mix of popular Mexican dishes along with more traditional Mexican favorites. Brought my truck for service at Mike Maroone and was a little hungry. So found this place close to the dealer and ordered 4 barbacoa tacos. Im going to be as honest as I always will. The meat was flavorless. Salsa they gave me was blend too. Not impressed. I will try again another day with a different dish but at this time I might think about it twice before coming! Really delighted to find a Mexican place in West Palm that didn't break the bank. I love Mexican food and eat it several times a week, but don't really want to shell out $20 every time I go. Yelp led me to Anita's and I am glad it did. The restaurant is located sort of near Westchase (so be aware of your surroundings) but is in a plaza sort of near the highway. The place itself isn't very large but their menu offerings are pretty vast. Lots of tacos and different types of Mexican dishes. I ordered the fajitas. I really wanted just shrimp fajitas, but I guess they don't do that here? So I had to get shrimp and chicken fajitas. Weird. The fajitas were prepared with loads of flavor which came out pretty quickly. You are given tortillas and sides of rice and beans. No cheese though. The fresh salsas at this place are really delicious. They don't taste like they came out of a bottle and were really good to put on my fajitas! The service was fairly friendly but again when I asked why I could just have shrimp fajitas the woman working looked at me like I was crazy and gave no explanation other than they just "don't do that." Prices are pretty cheap. Would return to try out some tacos in the future and I would easily recommend Anita's to anyone in West Palm looking for good Mexican food that won't break the bank. read more

Very excited to try this place based on recommendations and the reviews on yelp. Didn't work out as planned. My girlfriend got a burrito, carne asada, it was huge but not very tasty. Everything mushed together and wasn't very flavorful. I got a shrimp taco and a fish taco. Absolutely horrible, the shrimp taco may have had 2 tiny shrimp chopped up in it, the fish taco was a piece of over fried breading. Super low-key spot. Everything LOOKED delicious & the ladies behind the counter seemed like they could cook a mean Mexican meal. I was even more excited to see their hot sauce bar with 5 or so options! I ordered the Vegetarian Chimichanga and a Jarrito de Limon. As I waited for my food to be made, i happily served myself double of each sauce. I received my order within 5 minutes, very fast service & sat down to enjoy my meal. As soon as I cut into the chimichanga, I could tell that it was super fresh. First bite was just beans & cheese so I kept hacking away looking for any vegetable at all. Unfortunately, none were to be found. Apparently, a "vegetable" chimichanga is not to be confused with a "vegetarian" chimichanga... sad lesson learned. While not bad, there was no flavour to it at all. Even the sauces (all of them!) were bland, bland, bland. I can't even begin to imagine how you make bland hot sauce?!? If only there had been peppers, onions, ANYTHING in the chimichanga, it would have elevated it so much more. Even the "serving" of guacamole (it was literally a teaspoon amount) could not save this from being one of the most underwhelming meals I've had in a long time. I LOVE mexican, spicy & flavourful food & was truly expecting that from this small unassuming hole in the wall. Unfortunately, that's not what I got. The number of stars was a tough decision. We really need a 1/2 star, so I could have gone with 3 1/2. Since that isn't possible, I'm giving it an extra half star just because it's better than most of the Mexican restaurants we've found since we moved here. When it comes to Mexican food, I'm picky. We came here because of the price and the overall star rating. This is a tiny little place in an area that looks pretty sketchy, especially at night. Then again, maybe I was just thrown off by the cops arresting some guy in the parking lot. Either way, we reconsidered trying it, but it was, after all, an adventure night. I don't think we've ever eaten in West Palm. The menu is posted on the wall, with pics of some of the dishes. You order and pay at the counter and then find a place to sit. There are about 8 booths, and a few tables. Most of their business seems to be take-out. I started off with a large horchata, which is rapidly becoming one of my favorite drinks. It was cold, sweet and had just the right balance of cinnamon. It's the perfect drink to go with Mexican foods. I opted for combo #3, a shredded beef burrito and cheese enchilada. It took about 10 minutes for it to come out. The enchilada was better than most that we've had here. It could have used some cotija cheese, for a better flavor, but it was still good. As soon as I cut into the burrito, I noticed a wonderful aroma of slow cooked pot roast. This is always a good sign. The meat was tender, juicy and plentiful. It was also very lean, which is something that's important to me. I hate finding big clumps of fat in my shredded beef. The rice and beans on the side lacked flavor but weren't bad, they just needed more seasoning. There was a small salsa bar, with selections of mild, medium, medium hot, hot and extra hot. I tried the mild and medium. The mild was more of a pico than what I would call a salsa, but it was fresh and flavorful, without any heat. The medium was smoother and had a distinct warmth that probably increases the more you eat it. My husband said that the medium hot was a nice step up. It was nice to find a salsa bar with the heat levels properly labeled. The plate of food was less than $8, more than reasonable for the amount of food. What bumps this up the extra half star is that I have a soft spot for hard working family businesses. This one is definitely making an effort at providing decent food for a decent price. read more

Food is decent - but not worth going back :( From the outside this is our kind of place - we love finding hole-in-the-wall places that have to-die-for food. Sadly this place didn't meet our expectations. The tacos were good - the only ones traditionally made were the goat and tongue - the other types as well as most of the menu is Americanized Mexican. Topped with tomatoes, shredded cheese etc... Other than tacos we had the Menudo soup - it was okay - had a good base flavor but too much of the fatty parts added in. Although we are a bit biased, because no ones makes this dish better than the hubby's grandma! Also ordered the Chile Rellenos - so disappointed. Looks like they used shredded cheese instead of a mexican cheese and it was swimming in it. The sauce however, was excellent - had great flavor and heat! Overall the experience was okay - but with so many other mexican places to try and a couple already on our go-to list - this one doesn't make the cut. read more
