While in the area, we found a marisco place and we will definitely be back. The service was great from the moment you walk in, Gaby was our waitress and she was very attentive and nice. The snapper was fresh and delish, we ordered a side of pico de gallo with some tortillas. My girlfriend ordered a molcajete of meat and she loved it. This Mexican restaurant is the real deal. We were the only gringos eating there when we stopped in for lunch. Language wasn't a problem with our server, but knowing some Spanish didn't hurt. The menu is large. After we ordered, we saw a number of items I'd like to try in the future -- like their shrimp "cocktail" and their seafood soup. My husband got two beef tacos and a side of rice and beans. I got shrimp tacos with a side of plantains. But first we were given chips and salsa. The chips were addictive -- flat round ones. The green salsa had a peppery base and was a bit too spicy for me, but my husband liked it. And then a complimentary taste of their ceviche -- which was absolutely wonderful. The beef tacos had bits of steak in it. Along with cilantro and red onions. A hot sauce came on the side. The red beans were slightly seasoned and came over white rice. My husband added extra hot sauce to the beans. My shrimp tacos -- there's two to an order -- came each with two soft tacos layered one on the other. There were red and green peppers and onions as well. The only thing I'd eliminate was the mayonnaise (!)... My plantains were not the sweet ones, but the starchy ones. They were some of the best I've ever had. Similar to tostadas, but you could see the individual slices of "banana" so not as mashed together. And they were perfectly cooked. Just as a funny note: I'd asked if they had any salsa that was milder ("suave"), as in gringo style. She looked at me and said, "No. This IS a Mexican restaurant!" I really enjoy the food at this place. I eat here most Fridays as a treat to myself. I go for the ceviche and seafood soup, and I can say without a doubt, it is some of the best. At some point I want to treat myself to more menu items. Every time I visit this place, I see people eating what looks to be very tasty dishes. And the staff has been extremely friendly to me. I had to wait once and they gave me some chips and ceviche sample while they completed my order. If you enjoy ceviche....be sure and give them a try. read more

The fried shrimp plate was $23 and the shrimp was a size of a quarter.. Besides taxes, they charge you 16.5% like they do in the tourist areas and this is in a strip mall. I got the mixed ceviche and it was amazing I been to MULTIPLE places that sell ceviche and this has to be the best one . Crappy service. The waitress never asked what I wanted to drink and never brought water. I asked for more salsa and she said they don't have any more... (A Mexican place that ran out of salsa on a Monday afternoon? BS!) the shrimp cocktail was good but could have been presented better - the shrimp were whole so it was hard to eat. Passed by a few times, thought I would give them a shot. 1. Food- Had 3 tacos, 1 each shrimp, chicken, steak. Absolutely fantastic!!! Not the wet runny slop soaked tasteless tortillas that fall out the bottom like many other joints. The meat was abundant on each taco and they were hand made tortillas. Surprisingly all three were high quality meat, not stringy, gristly, chewy or fat laden, in fact there was no fat to be found in either the chicken or the steak at all, the shrimp goes with out saying - no fat. They came with a homemade sauce that was not over the top hot but might raise an eybrow or sweat the less seasoned palate. A very reasonable $7 for 3 tacos hand made with love- a real bargain and well worth the trip. 2. Service- Friendly, prompt and bilingual fluent and very informative. The server Janet also pointed out that happy hour prices for drinks were up on special even though it was lunch on Sunday. I broke down and had a Pacifico with a shot of Clamato in it with a spiced/salted frost mug. Actually a first for me to do this early in the day. She also brought out chips and another home made green creamy salsa that was again very tasty and equally picante to the above mentioned sauce. The chips were round hard corn tortillas, probably mass produced and left me with a slightly concerned impression ( after the fact) when they came out before the food. Not that I was expecting anything out of the ordinary like handmade chips but this struck me after the hand made tacos came out to be the one thing out of place for all the quality and taste I was getting. After getting through the first couple of tacos, I was presented with a sample plate of their ceviche mixto with 2 saltine crackers. I was already going to order a ceviche to go and that was what I came for to begin with. This nice gesture compounde my desire for the carry out and I was impressed in the quality and taste of this presentation. 3. Establishment - For being in a convenience/strip mall like many other gem restaurants needing to be found, this place was very clean, not over packed seating (roomy) and had very large wide screen tvs with a game on (soccer/footbal) at both ends of the dining area. The mens room was clean and did not smell. The decor includes large paintings and photographs on the walls and here is the clincher, a well stocked refrigerated glass counter area with fresh seafood including oysters in the shell. This explains the high quality and taste of their food--- besides the good lovin' the chef(s) are putting into thier creations! Out the door for $22 ith a $3 tip = 3 tacos, complimantary chips and salsa, nice frosty fancy brew and a small ceviche to go with all the trimmings. In summary, I am going to be a regular here. read more
