Three Birds is the brick and mortar evolution of MT Rudeboys food truck. They had the opportunity…read moreto take over Log Cabin's lease so they are in this space. They painted, renovated a bit, but have not gotten new signage yet-so the old Log Cabin sign is still up. The owner and his friend run things at this cafe and they are so friendly and helpful. The menu is approachable, affordable, and creative. They voiced that the goal was to have an affordable and healthy option in Billings for families. And that it is! They try to source all ingredients locally, they make their own breads and sweets, and partner with local citizens who grow greens, veggies, etc. Their hours are not set yet as they are just starting up but I know they are open for lunches on week days and brunch on Saturday starting at 10AM. I had the croissant French toast which is soaked in vanilla cream overnight (SO GOOD) and my husband had eggs with avocado toast (4 thick slices with generous amounts of avocado) and the side of potatoes was amazing-rosemary flavored and crispy. These meals were about $7 each. It was a deal. We will definitely be returning! The owners kids and wife came by as we were finishing and it was hard to pull our daughter away from playing with his crew, who generously shared their toys with her. This is a gem and I hope they thrive in Billings!

Our food was good and we both finished our sandwiches. No complaints, but possibly lacked in the flavor department being a bit on the blander side. We also bought and tried a dessert and baguette that we both enjoyed. As a Billings native, the menu might be a smaller version of what you would see at the Field house, but a more relaxed atmosphere. Will certainly be returning.

The stand-alone building reminds me of a little league baseball field hut that serves local treats only in the summer. The two high school aged young ladies ran the show and are bubbly with big smiles. There was a line of families with wagons, dad's with daughters on Harleys and carloads with kids in line. A huge family friendly vibe. Now to the ice cream, shakes, freezes, banana splits, twist cones and sundays. With the ice cream there are at least twelve flavors, dipps and cone sprinkles. I ordered the vanilla ice cream with cherry dip while my wife went with the vanilla and toasted coconut dip. Sizes here are HUGE and a GREAT VALUE. My suggestion is order a size smaller than you normally get. The ice cream was creamy and very cold. My wife thought the toasted coconut dip was amazing. Fancy, Softies is not, but a blast from the past and a reminder of yester years. This is an iconic blast to the past that can't help but make you slow down, take a deep breathe and quickly try to eat your ice cream cone before it melts. Softies, thanks for a flash-back to younger years and providing simple pleasures.

If you're an iced tea drinker, I highly recommend getting a spiced iced tea. I was skeptical at first, but it's actually just cinnamon iced tea and was lovely. I had the nachos with ground beef. The sauce was not a generic out of the can sauce. the chips were crisp and the ground beef was well seasoned. The only complaint I have if I have to have one is that the jalapeños were very thickly sliced and took over the entire flavor of any bite they were in; a smaller dice on them would've allowed for the jalapeños to be spread out over the entire nacho and not overwhelm the rest of the flavors. My companion had the mushroom Swiss burger with fries and said they were both a solid burger and fries no complaints. Wheelchair accessibility: accessible parking across the street with a crosswalk; the front door is heavy so you're gonna either need help or be able to open a heavy door and there's actually two doors but plenty of room to maneuver between. the path of travel wasn't bad and there's wheelchair accessible seating in the back of the restaurant. There is no wheelchair accessible seating in the bar area. The bathroom door was light .The accessible stall in the women's bathroom had a grab bar, but there was not sufficient turning radius and the soap was up a little high.
