Huckleberry ice cream on a waffle cone
    Emma T.

This is the place if you want ice cream in downtown Billings! The staff is always friendly with really tasty ice cream! My favorite part is that they let you split two flavors for one scoop. So for those of us who want all of the ice cream, it's a win-win!

This ice cream was delicious. We visited several times while in Billings. The huckleberry was outstanding. On our second visit, the store was all out of that flavor. Therefore, we chose the mint Oreo ice-cream flavor.

We came here after lunch downtown, and we very impressed! I got a waffle cone with coconut and black licorice ice cream. ***Warning*** If you are a fan of black licorice and would like to try this delectable confection, do not- I repeat-DO NOT wear any light colors at all, unless you want to try to get black food dye out of your clothes. I personally don't want to waste my time fiddling about with baking soda and stain removers, but I don't know what you like to do for fun. If you're like me, wear black. Trust me. The flavors are wonderfully subtle, and the coconut ice cream has shredded coconut in it. A very nice touch. My hubby had the Big Dipper sundae with maple walnut and coconut ice cream, which I didn't try but it looked great and he was quite happy with it! If you haven't tried it yet, do it.

YUMMY! I made this my first stop last week, when I was in town on business. I went straight from the airport. I'm so glad they are open late. I feel like places like this tend to close early. I walked in at 8:15p and still had time. I wanted to order the flight, but it looks like it would have been too much for me. I ended up getting two scoops! I ordered the huckleberry and salted caramel. It was so delicious! I can see why this place is a popular. The ice cream isn't too rich but it's so flavorful and creamy. The staff was really nice and it was clean inside. There were tables and chairs for you to enjoy your ice cream inside. I took mine to go though.

They take card. Get the huckleberry! Check sign for special flavors. We got huckleberry and firecracker. You can ask for a cone with your bowl. We went 7/3/24 in the afternoon and it was not busy. The server was so nice and said to hello to each customer and let us try flavors. We went after burgers at burgers dine highly recommend the combo. Came here due to the food network post and recommend huckleberry for the Montana experience. The place is cute and clean

The ice cream is amazing!! Service was great as well. We came 2 nights in a row. We were not planning on ice cream but we are so glad we found this place.

Stopped in here while on a road trip and craving some good ice cream. Service was quick and friendly, even with a line out the door! the ice cream was pretty good and they had plenty of flavors to choose from. We got a vanilla and reeses, and while I think the vanilla could use a bit more flavor it was still tasty! Nice spots for indoor seating as well. Would definitely return if I was in the area again!

Excellent flavors, great service, and a spic and span outlet. We've been twice in less than a week and I'm sure we'll go again before we leave Billings on Tuesday AM.

Gotta get my daily dose of huckleberry!

Huckleberry Ice Cream. Need I say more? Okayyyy, if you insist. Obviously I get the Huckleberry Ice Cream every time I get a chance to stop here. I love all sorts of ice cream flavors, but you can't get huckleberry just anywhere so I need to enjoy it when I can! I always get the sugar cone but you can get a cake cone or cup instead if you prefer. I typically get a single scoop because they're huge, but one time I mistakenly got a double scoop beause I forgot and boy was that a lot of ice cream. I didn't let it go to waste though! They have a long list of flavors including unique ones like black licorice (which my dad needs to try because he loves black licorice), cardamom, mexican chocolate, and maple walnut. Of course they have plenty of staple flavors as well. They also sell sundaes, shakes, sorbet slushes, and rootbeer floats. And FYI you can also take pints and quarts to go of any flavor. I'm one of those weirdos who doesn't mind getting ice cream when it's cold out so I'm appreciative they're open year round too. If you're in the area, please go get a huckleberry scoop for me!

Bottom Line - delicious ice cream and fun atmosphere We stayed the night across the street at the Northern Hotel and after dinner we're looking for a treat. The fun bright atmosphere drew us in and we weren't disappointed Don't miss the huckleberry - you can't get this just anywhere!

Nothing little about this dipper! Delicious, creamy goodness camped out with gooey hot fudge and banana. The team at BD is all about customer service from the warm welcome to free samples and best of all no "rush" feeling crafting your order.

Just what I needed for dessert! The girl who worked here stirred me towards this combo and she hit the nail in the head! Yummy!

Why do you hours say 11-10pm? Went in at 9:15 and told you're closed. Would have been my first time, wouldn't even sell me a pint, 1 star.

I brought my 3 daughters and that was a challenge, but we stayed for about 90 minutes and purchased three sets of items, as we sat at the convenient old school soda fountain tables and ate all the goodies. Everyone was really nice there, but the only one I caught the name of was PJ who was running the soda fountain area. She was super friendly and very helpful. We spent quite a while conversing with her about sweets and whatever else. This place is large. Yes it's pretty pricey, but there's so many choices. It was amazing to see. Not only do they have nearly every candy you can imagine, but they also have ice cream and they make milkshakes, and specialty sodas. I thought a neat touch also, was the fact that they have a bunch of games you can use to play at the tables for family fun. Uno and sorry and things like that. Good to keep you in there and eating more sweets! Haha. The whole ambiance reminded me of the classic 1950s candy and malt shop. Overall, well done. Good times. Enjoy them while you still can.

A huge family friendly vibe. Now to the ice cream, shakes, freezes, banana splits, twist cones and sundays. With the ice cream there are at least twelve flavors, dipps and cone sprinkles. I ordered the vanilla ice cream with cherry dip while my wife went with the vanilla and toasted coconut dip. Sizes here are HUGE and a GREAT VALUE. My suggestion is order a size smaller than you normally get. The ice cream was creamy and very cold. My wife thought the toasted coconut dip was amazing. Fancy, Softies is not, but a blast from the past and a reminder of yester years. This is an iconic blast to the past that can't help but make you slow down, take a deep breathe and quickly try to eat your ice cream cone before it melts. I haven't decided if I like it and that's an odd thing to say about ice cream. I mean - ice cream. What's not to like? My indecision is probably not for a reason expected. The ice cream is smooth, creamy, and you can tell immediately it's a high butterfat ice cream. What's disappointing is the flavor - there's really not much. It looks tasty in the cup or the cone - and kids seem to enjoy it, so perhaps it's just me. If you have trouble deciding, you can get a tiny spoon sampling of a flavor capturing your interest. I've tried a few different flavors, and they all suffer from the same barely-there taste - except perhaps for the Zanzibar chocolate. I guess having three kinds of cocoa must have been enough to amp the overall flavor. Or maybe it's because it was chocolate ,,, because ....chocolate.. The peach has pieces of peach in it; the "This $&@! Just Got Serious" has pieces of cashew; the "Superman" was fun-looking, with three bright colors with the same number of flavors that looked like someone mashed kids play-dough together. All the requisite ingredients are there so I can't figure out the taste deficit. What is impressive is the variety of choices -- at least a dozen. There are a few regular flavors, but also a rotating selection and a special flavor of the week. The ice cream is available in a cone or a cup, or mixed as a sundae or a shake - so there's an option for whatever craving is attacking you at that moment. On a hot day, or when you want to satisfy a sweet tooth, or get the kids a treat without breaking the bank, or just sit outside and enjoy your ice cream and the sunshine, Joe's Cones will do nicely. It's open even as the weather gets cooler, but mostly on the weekends.
