Of course, it was a bit intimidating because 1) it take a lot of strength to get on pole 2) it's a form of expression and some people in our group were a lot more modest than others. I've been coming to Luscious now for about 3 months. I have taken 4 different instructors. I appreciate the variety in classes and really dig the three studios they have. I feel like this is awesome and allows for such a wide selection of classes. I also feel that the instructors I have experienced are extremely knowledgeable and talented! There is plenty of street parking all day in the surrounding streets. And it feels safe, even at night. I will most likely continue to have this studio in my rotation and I am looking forward to taking other instructors. Additionally, the desk staff was super kind and helpful the first time I visited. Instructors here are incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming. I highly recommend JENNY and ADRIANA for beginner classes. They are very informative with a strong focus on safety and proper technique, which made me feel comfortable from the start. The studio is clean, well maintained, and beginner-friendly. You don't need to bring a yoga mat since they provide one for you, which is super convenient. They also sell pole essentials like grip aids and heels at fair prices. I saw basic Pleasers for $65, which is a great deal if you're just starting out. There is a strict late policy, so make sure to arrive on time. They will not admit you if you are more than 10 minutes late. If it is your first time, plan to arrive early so you can sign the waiver and get checked in. You'll need to check in at the front office before walking to the actual studio space down the block. I just want to share my gratitude for this studio. After having experiences at other studios where the business ethics honestly weren't great, it's incredibly refreshing to come somewhere that truly cares about their clients. I can't say enough good things about this place. In my opinion, it's one of the best studios in LA. The instructors are amazing, and the management and staff are genuinely kind, professional, and supportive. One thing I really appreciate is how clean the studio is. They ask everyone to remove their shoes at the door, which shows how much they respect the space and the dancers. I've been to studios where people walk around in regular shoes on floors you're expected to dance on, and it just doesn't feel right. Here, you can tell they take pride in keeping the environment clean and safe. You can truly feel the difference when a studio values the people walking through their doors. Still one of my favorite pole studios in LA! I've had the privilege of taking classes this year from Tiffany and Taylor and both are amazing! I can only speak to the pole choreo classes but as a dancer, this has been a great way for me to work on my technique while also building more confidence in my body. I love the sexy pole flow and low flow classes as they really allow me to work on transitions and fluidity. The teachers are so great with breaking down each move and making it accessible to dancers of all levels. I really did want to like this place. I've taken several classes and done several "open pole" sessions after deciding to do the lowest tier membership that they offer that includes the unlimited open pole. I am someone who is brand new to the pole world but very motivated in trying to engulf myself in the sport. I come from a bodybuilding background where I found that the community was always very supportive and encouraging. There is zero community here. Everyone seems to walk in, and then pretty much run out of each class. Open pole is full of women of different levels of expertise, but there is an unusual sense of judgement that is impossible to shake if you're new. I don't come from a choreo background, so maybe that's where I'm falling short in the classes. I found myself to get very flustered quickly and didn't feel a lot of patience or encouragement from the instructors, for myself or for others. It seemed like the goal was always to get to the end of what the choreo is supposed to be, so you can use the remaining 3 mins of class to scramble trying to remember everything and practice while the instructor gets lost in themselves flawlessly going through the choreo that everyone else was still very much struggling with... and then that's it! Class ends. After leaving 2 classes in tears because I felt so defeated, I decided to pay more money to get private lessons elsewhere and THAT is where I fell back in love. I am now looking at just buying a pole for my apartment so I can practice at home in peace. Really sad that this didn't end up being the place I thought it was going to be, I feel like pole is a truly beautiful art form and having it be such a woman dominating sport, I guess I was hoping for some more love to the newbies. read more

Since I was leaving fitness reviews of studios I visited I thought I would come over here to another studio I enjoy and leave one too. I've been coming to Lucious maven for a bit now. Over 2 years I believe. I am not pole expert but I can hang in there. I am not a regular or a membership holder. I still want to give this place 5 stars I come for Jenni the pole instructor. She is amazing and so much fun. I also enjoy Janet's teachings she is equally helpful. I have taken a few other classes with instructors but never really connected or understood their methods. There is a click kind of vibe here which is always my fear in studios. I try to always make small talk and cheer women on in the studio. Will I fit in or will people nice to me? Everyone who comes here seems pretty nice. I will say sometimes the front desk person which I believe is the owner is sometimes off putting. A lot of people who hold memberships like her. I've tried in the past to talk with her and make conversation she always seems unwelcoming towards me and warm towards others. Aside from that if you're new it can be confusing which room to go to. Just ask because sometimes they don't tell you. I do keep coming back for my instructor who is the only one I come to now. Jenni is the best in my opinion and when she is teaching I understand. Don't let bad reviews discourage you. Instead show up and make a choice for yourself. Yelp is a place not to come belittle a business but give insight on your experience. I've been going to this studio since 2017 over 8 years. I was never consistent with fitness or gyms until I found this studio. It changed my life and I can honestly say this is not just a dance class it's a community. It's a place that you can go and feel free regardless of size, race, age or background. Last year I went for the first time to Adriana's class and almost did not come back. After a year of training (with other teachers) I decided to try her class again because her class is the only one that is not booked up in advance at my current level. I thought okay, maybe she had a bad day that first class, maybe she will be better this time-- I've come to find that she's a very rude, demeaning person. The way she sometimes corrects you is condescending for no reason- I think she doesn't have good social skills or self awareness and might not realize how she comes off. I've seen a handful of other commenters on apps that she's been rude to them as well so I know this isn't an isolated incident. I wish she would teach LESS classes and have some of the other amazing instructors teach more. I'm only taking her class as a last resort. read more

I highly recommend taking a class with either Adriana or Teresa! I live about 30 min away but I make the drive out for a class with them! There is a thing in this town where - when people have bad experiences they just don't talk about it on yelp but they will whisper about it. IME, Luscious is a toxic place that humiliates people with disabilities. I am vision-impaired when it comes to certain lightings but I can still make out facial expressions. On my first day here I was publicly humiliated by an instructor when I opened the wrong door by accident. This is easy to do, because they expect new clients to figure it out and read their excessive amount of posted signs that is difficult even for a sighted person to get through. Then I was loudly scolded later by a student when I was not able to read the sign to take your shoes off before you enter the room. I explained both times that I am vision impaired and they looked at me like they were smelling garbage. This student later shoulder checked me when I was trying to leave. This behavior was allowed by the instructor. Welcome to Luscious! I forgave this assuming that if I got in touch with management it would be a different story and I had purchased a class pack and wanted to use it up. I always assume maybe I'm the person with the problem before I accuse others, so I just put it behind me and reached out positively with my energy saying hello to people and introducing myself. The results I got back were cold. People really are dug into their cliques here and don't seem to have emotionally matured past high school level. A couple weeks later I noticed a problem with my account. I walked to the front desk hoping to fix the problem. They looked at me like they were sucking on lemons when I entered the room and they didn't even know me to have a reason for this. The front desk accused me of trying to scam a free class in front of people. I provided my receipts and they realized it was an error on their side. They were really cold when I said I needed a few minutes to find them because I am vision impaired and it takes awhile for me to read on my phone. They did not apologize. They instead started arguing in front of clients about who had the right to make changes on client's account. A few of the instructors who used to teach here told me privately that this is a really bad place unless you know the owner. Like I said above - people talk but none of them had the courage to post about it. You can see how many people are on their website that don't work here anymore. I assumed it might've been a personal issue between them and her, but now I see I should've listened to them. This place is toxic. It's not a place anyone with disabilities should train and IMO it's doing a great job to reinforce the bad idea the mainstream has that pole dancers are damaged, mean people. I'm glad other studios are opening nearby because this place will lose its advantage- being the only studio in the area and its brigade of sock puppets who are all friends with the owner plastering 5 star reviews everywhere they can. Every month I see them on the LA Facebook groups where they clearly state they know the owner and how welcoming this place is. Yes it is - for you. I hate posting anything negative so I waited a year before posting this and decided to do so if I was still mad about it. Here we are. read more

Got a great deal for $60 for ten sessions plus a free bday session. Although i enjoyed the zoom sessions, we are having so much fun with the in-person classes with Adriana. Luscious Maven has literally saved my sanity during the Covid Pandemic! The Zoom classes have been amazing and as good as the in-person studio classes. But let me back up,...I've been coming to Luscious Maven since June of 2017 and the experience has been beyond amazing. The instructors are top-notch and have guided me to progressing in my pole journey to the point of winning competition medals for my age and category. And regarding age, I'm an over 50 pole dancer. I started when I was 52, and have been poling for three and a half years since. Never once, have I been treated differently from any of the younger dancers in class. The instructors treat me the same as everyone else according to my abilities. And they do the same for everyone. The instructors are passionate, extremely knowledgeable about each pole move and the strength it takes to progress to each move and patient. They all love teaching pole and it shows. When the pandemic hit, our amazing studio owner, knew that we were in it for the long haul and started having zoom classes. I didn't have a pole at first, but no worry!! They offered non-pole classes for those of us without a pole. Then when I finally got my pole, I was able to get right back into the swing of things. I live for my Luscious Maven Zoom classes. And now, the studio offers rentals. Those have been amazing. I feel safe because the studio has strict safety protocols that we all must follow. We must take our temperatures before we get there, we must wear a mask, there are hand washing stations, sanitizing wipes, hand sanitizers, alcohol, cloths, etc.. so we can disinfect our hands, poles, mats and areas around the pole. So that is another lifeline. I'm so happy we can actually get back in the studio for the rentals. I know that life in the US will get back to "normal" someday, and everything will open back up. I hope that Luscious Maven will continue to be there for us when we are back. It's my home away from home. I miss the staff, instructors and fellow dancers in person and can't wait to be with them all when regular in-person classes resume. In the meantime, I'll see ya' in the Zooms!! read more

Luscious Maven is my happy place! I love the community here. I've ran marathons, lifted kettlebells, done pilates but nothing has kicked my ass the way pole dancing has. It's been crazy how much my perception of pole has changed since I started my pole journey (a year and 8 months, time flies!). I'm always amazed at how much musicality, artistic interpretation can vary between individuals and how much athleticism is required to do all those magical aerial tricks. If you want to level up as a human being, you need to go to pole class! I've been going regularly to Alicia's Monday and Erika's Saturday level 2/3 classes. Alicia and Erika are both so inspiring, kind, and believe in everyone 100%. I love all the pole milestones and memories I've made with them in their classes over the past year. They're such amazing teachers!!! I hope I can level up one day to keep up in Teresa's spin level 3 class. Teresa is one of the sweetest individuals you will ever meet. I'm so grateful for my pole sisters and the level of support and community in the classes. All the students are so welcoming and kind and we all want to push ourselves and each others to be the best that we can be! I also have to commend Heather, the studio owner even though I've yet to say hello to her in person. It's extremely tough running a dance or fitness studio in Los Angeles due to the high competition. However, Heather has thrived at running a woman-owned business and it's amazing that this studio has been around for so long. I think it's a testament to the studio culture when you have teachers that are teaching at the studio, who STARTED pole by learning at LM. I started coming here towards the end of 2017 with a friend, was very off and on and then started classes seriously during the summer of 2019 and let me tell you, I would not be where I am without the LM staff! Since then I've tried out other studios and it doesn't even come close to the little details/professionalism that these instructors take to make you a very well-rounded dancer. They've been with me through my entire journey and now I've formed such a beautiful pole family as well as still training with the best level 3 instructor Teresa! I went to one class out of my pack. The pack ran out way too fast and basically wasted a lot of money. I tried calling and emailing about it but got nothing. For the class I waited outside forever and tried to call and the doors weren't open past the class time. Then when class started I needed to share a pole. Please don't over book your own classes. On top of all of that we went around and talked about previous experiences when I told them I had some pole experience as a stripper I was basically ignored ( teacher didn't know how to respond) and the side eye I got. If you're going to steal stripper culture and profit off it please also support sex workers. I did like the teacher she was good and they did have shoes you can borrow which was great. read more

I absolutely love LM. They have intro to pole (for newbies like me) which is where I started 10 months ago. Adriana made me feel super comfortable even when I wasn't comfortable with myself! Immediately bought a membership and began attending 2-3 per week. All the instructors are AMAZING!! They are sooo encouraging and rejoice with you in your accomplishments along the way. I also take floor Zoom classes that don't require a pole. Each teacher breaks things down in an easy to understand way. I'm not a natural. I started dancing here Oct 2017 since my original studio closed down. Initially it was supposed to be temporary but this has become my 2nd home. I love all the instructors here; talented, encouraging, genuinely love teaching, and seeing their students grow. CONS: parking can be annoying before 6pm and sometimes classes are full...BUT, PROS: ...the quality of the classes here is what makes all the cons worth it. If you're looking for a place to progress and see fast results, this is the studio. - the instructors remember your name - they remember your level and progression - the instructors are there to teach and want to see their students grow, they're aware of everyone's level and skill set (I've had instructors in the past where they use class time as an opportunity to show off and teach moves no one can do) - you often have to share poles but it's a great opportunity to make new friends and learn from each other Love LM!!!! read more

My experience with Lucious Mavens has been fantastic. I live in North Carolina and found their online zoom classes recently. I am hooked. The zoom classes are some of the best classes I've taken. And I've traveled to pole conventions so I've taken a few. The instructors are amazing and breakdown moves in an easy to understand manner. My favorite classes are spin pole and pole conditioning so far. Prices are very affordable as well. I can't say enough good things. I just hope I can still attend classes somehow when the studio opens back up for in person classes. read more

This is such a great little studio! I took my first class a few months ago and really enjoyed the vibe. The space is very open and encouraging. The instructors are great (love Veronika Pole's class). I used to take classes at S Factor and while I liked it, I found it difficult to progress there. In the few classes I have taken thus far at Luscious I really have noticed my skill level rise each time. Things to be aware of when starting here. The level 1 classes book insanely quick. Luckily there is a waitlist, however I recommend you use the Lucious Maven app (search "luscious maven" in App Store) to book NOT through Mind Body. Also be sure to be signed up for text notifications. I struggled figuring this all out in the beginning but worked it out. Now it's seamless. I'm addicted to Veronica's Monday night Twerkout class. It's such an incredible workout and goes by so fast b/c you are having such a good time working on your butt shake! I crack up multiple times in class watching myself in the mirror! Veronica makes the class really fun and has a really sweet personality regardless of your twerk skill level ;) She is super welcoming and makes you feel at home right away. The warm up for this class is no joke! Likes squats and calf raises until you are blue in the face! I love being sore the next day b/c I know my legs and butt are improving! My favorite part if class is the dance we do at the end. Makes me feel like a true music video twerker! The studio itself is also very beautiful! The lobby has a nice waiting room with a boutique full of sexy work out clothes. If you are into pole dancing - the poles here are nice and tall and spin well too. All 45mm! I love the open, positive, welcoming vibe of this beautiful studio! The staff & instructors are beyond amazing: fun, kind, encouraging, wise, supportive, enthusiastic, patient, delightful, and so caring & invested in each and every participant. The instructors are all accomplished pole dancers with immense knowledge and impeccable didactics: They all share this gift of being able to break down a move or a trick, explain it perfectly, walk you through it, and -voilà- make the seemingly impossible POSSIBLE...! :D I feel that at LM I learn at an accelerated pace, with more ease and more fun - even tricks that used to be my nemesis! Absolutely amazing pole studio. Everyone from the owner to the instructors to the students are friendly, unpretentiousness, communicative, and there to help you grow and learn. Of course pole isn't just dance/sport/fitness, it's a community-based, empowering experience that brings joy and positivity into your life. And of course it's also sexy as hell. Luscious subscribes to this inclusive philosophy whole-heartedly and you feel it every time you take a class there. Shout out to the crazy talented instructors Veronika and Meggan as well, definitely take their classes if you can. It goes without saying they are both incredible dancers but they are also patient and kind teachers. All of the instructors here are great but theirs are the classes that best work with my schedule so I can speak to them the best. I'm an intermediate beginner so I usually go for level 2 and 2/3. Veronika is a straight up pole scientist, dropping knowledge at every turn and breaking down moves analytically so that even a genetically clumsy non-dancer like me can understand the separate pieces that lead to the final flow. You really have to experience her class physically to understand what a talented and intelligent teacher she is but I'm trying to give an idea. There's plenty of repetition and explaining so the moves can really get into your body. She also will sometimes share some philosophical side musings and funny anecdotes, interesting things she has been reading... so basically if pole was offered as part of a master's program in university Veronika would be your professor. And then the end result after you do the work is so sexy and empowering! She is truly awesome. Meggan is another phenomenal instructor, I take her exotic class. Her class is definitely challenging but she is so friendly and sweet and has THE best sense of humor. It just feels great to be in her class, the outside world melts away and you can just relax and feel all the good positive vibes that she exudes. Her exotic class focuses on learning a choreography and then putting lots of energy into working it as much as the remaining time allows. She marks all the moves lots of times so everyone gets it, and then you get to dance until you drop. The cardio level is intense! She also will repeat moves in different choreographies as the weeks progress which I think is a mark of really great teaching- learning basic building blocks and then using them in different contexts. And just such a warm and giving personality, I couldn't recommend her more. Love!!! The studio itself is clean, spacious and beautiful after a recent renovation that added more poles and mirror space. I'll be up front and admit this is not the first time I've molested a pole, however I was so happy to (re)find Heather of Luscious Maven! I had done a couple of sessions at The PC in Hollywood a few years ago with her and another girl as our instructors. Heather (who falls into the Jessica Biel category in looks) fit more of the persona I go for when I immerse myself in this 'sport' (the slinky, quiet one who sneaks up on you aptly named Sasha) so I felt it was easier to relate to her. I had lost touch with the girls, but was thrilled to see she had opened her own place in Studio City. The only downfall is a mistake I had made on my own; by taking the wrong level class. It has been a couple years since I've made contact with a tall metal object, and it showed. That pole abused me, and sadly, I let it. For me, this is a rather expensive way of staying in shape, but it is so much fun, and worth saving up for. I will definitely be back. read more

February 2017 is when I first dipped my toes into pole dance and I've been taking classes at this studio ever since. Getting started at LM was super easy, they have great deals for beginners that didn't make me feel pressured to commit to something huge. I like the variety of packages and memberships they offer, (as for myself, I go for the 10-class packages) so you can explore your level of commitment over time and purchase classes/memberships accordingly. I also appreciate how flexible the scheduling is; I can book classes pretty far in advance so I don't worry much about spaces filling up, and I can shift around bookings as needed. I personally love Monica's level 1 class-- she's an instructor who's excellent at breaking down moves visually, by the physics, or in metaphor. I also appreciate that she's responsive to students with physical limitations/injuries, and works with them to come up with variations in the moves to suit their comfort level. I've recently begun taking Tempest's level 1/2 class, and she's also fantastic at breaking down choreography, and is understanding of students' varying skills and limitations. All that said, the classes are still challenging and I always get a great full-body workout. The studio itself is clean, open, and safe. The poles often have to be shared in pairs since classes are almost always full, but you never feel like you're losing pole time and it can be a nice way to make a new friend. Parking is pretty rough, at least in the evenings, but if you're a public transit-taker like me, it's conveniently close to the redline station and a dozen different bus routes. All in all it's such a kind, fun, and encouraging place-- all genders, fitness levels, and body types welcome. I can't imagine my life without this place now! read more

I've been taking Zoom (online) classes here for a few months. The classes and instructors are wonderful. My favorite is spin 2/3 because I just can't get enough spin pole, but I've been trying others when my schedule allows, and they've all been just what I needed. No pole? No problem - try burlesque, flexibility, and other classes. read more

I know I wrote a review already, but my experience has significantly changed (in a good way!) so I wanted to provide a thorough update. The studio is home to some of the world's most premier, well renowned performers and coaches. I've noticed tremendous growth ever since I started regularly attending classes at this studio--growth that I hadn't necessarily seen while frequenting other studios. I attribute this to the high quality of instruction from everyone who teaches here, even subs. Instructors make an effort to understand where you are at in your journey rather than a one-size-fits-all-approach. They offer plenty of modifications and variations which is key to ensuring your safety. In addition to regularly scheduled classes, the studio also hosts a multitude of workshops ie how to freestyle, how to care for your shoulders as a pole dancer, etc. In addition to high quality instruction, I just feel at home when I'm here. Staff at the front desk are friendly, warm, and welcoming. Students get to know each other. I never want to leave. The studio hosts parties and shows so people can meet each other and enjoy performances from classmates, and they're tons of fun. Jen, the studio manager, is always quick to respond to emails if I have any issues or questions. I decided to become a member at this studio when I noticed how often I was going and how I felt while I was there. I definitely feel like I have become part of a family. There are two membership levels: one for 10 classes a month and another for unlimited classes. Both are a great value when you think about how much money you save and the other perks you get (ie discounts on apparel and special pricing for workshops). One drawback to this studio is the parking, but the parking throughout the NoHo Arts District is pretty miserable, so I don't blame them for this. Also, since the studio is of such a high caliber, classes are almost always full, but this gives you an opportunity to make new friends! They limit the number of people so you'll only ever have to share with one other person (I've been to studios where you have to share with two or three other people). Everyone is very well-intentioned, loves their craft, and enjoy it. It is something probably for either the more familiar / comfortable with 'no ho' / the dance district / dance studio vibe, or unconcerned about things like ambient noise, cleanliness, good A/C, comfort and lots of other activity going on (for the privates) that potentially distract. I only had 2 privates - both from experienced, kind instructors; they are not really all that set up for real privates - I had to do too much communication to ensure I even had a session that was promised me. (The Owner acknowledged poor handling of all this). I was assured they could move forward over a thorough conversation given their schedule and other 'workshops' etc - but it was all rescinded 2 weeks later without trying to ensure things could move forward as discussed and set. I had already protected the date and time given - but was left basically with a, 'We're not actually able to do what we offered you," - not caring nor professional handling. And it's very clear the Owner is overly concerned with payment - my private was interrupted by a young receptionist who LITERALLY walked up to me IN THE MIDDLE of my session while I was struggling to learn a move on the pole- to get my signature - 30 minutes into my session. Not a great feeling. I think it's a great adventure if a unique class workout is something you're looking into- great alternate work out if you are okay with congested streets to get to the studio (it's right off Lankershim in the heart of NoHo with a lack of parking options (a lot you pay for is what I think most are doing), and truthfully it was a bit 'used' and not exactly sanitary feeling in the private studio we were in - poles a bit wobbly, though hopefully very secure, and the private was not TRULY private - curtains between you and often loud receptionist greeting people, hugging, discussing their day, and answering the phone. They're trying to speak over the music behind the curtain - so basically everyone's speaking loudly - guests checking in, your instructor, etc. I think it's great for younger 20-30 age not as concerned with overall experience - those who might be concerned with feeling safe and sanitary among a room full of folk without proper air conditioning in LA temperatures. Very nice, probably one of the better options for pole dancing in the Valley. read more
