Was cool we ride the slide. It was such a fun event. I can't even explain it. I was a little worried about the ride up never being on a ski lift and a lil afraid of heights. It was an easy experience. We did help a family carry one of their sled. Be prepared if you have kids. You need to get a sled and carry it to the slide from the top of the lift. It was worth the price. We also took the gondola now that was super cool it was so fun to see the mountains below. Not scared on this it was closed in. We did try the restaurant up top it is a small menu. We ordered cheese curds and drinks. They were short staffed one guy taking orders and delivery them. And probably one person in the kitchen. We did not mind we enjoyed the view. Curds. Ok and the Gatorade expensive as one would expect. The beer was fun and tasty. Again worth the time and cost. The view is extraordinary. Go check it out all ages appropriate it was smoky from Canada so probably would be even better with no smoke.

This is a fantastic place to bring a family. We stayed at a nearby ski in-ski out townhouse. When we arrived just before they opened, we found Plenty of free parking close to the ticket booth. I had pre-ordered tickets and so we got our passes pretty quickly. The guys in the rental shop were knowledgeable And helpful. Lots of ski options. There's a tiny bunny hill with magic carpet for beginners. I stayed on greens but my boys and husband had fun on the blues and blacks. There's a new lift that's big and fast. I love the gondola and lodge and the top of the hill. The food is decent but a little pricey - $13 for a burger, $6 for a hot dog, fries are an additional $5. They also have soup, chili, and wine. I brought a small cooler with food. We brought that up the gondola and enjoyed lunch with a phenomenal view of Lake Superior and the hills. I was sad to see the main restaurant had burned to the ground. We loved that place last year and look forward to the new place they plan to build this summer. If you are in Minnesota or just want a beautiful place to ski with your family, this is a fantastic place! I took a video of a green trail here: https://youtu.be/tCVkrDUr9Dc?si=zPN5t1qJPy2kBBOd

We had such a blast going down the Alpine Slide! It is seriously great fun for all ages, you can push the lever forward to go SUPER fast but also pull back if you need to slow down or break at all. Hubby and I raced down (I won ;) but really it's as fast as you want to make it. Common sense, but make sure all your belongings are securely tucked away and zippered up! Side note - even though we purchased our tickets and completed our waiver online, we still had to stand in line to get your barcodes to scan in order to get on the chair lift.

Pretty! Disclaimer: my review is solely based on the winter gondola ride, lunch space and gift shop. As I don't ski (yet), I had the honor of visiting our group who was skiing for lunch and a little gondola excursion. I felt like the space was clean and slopes looked well maintained. For a weekend, it was great to see so many humans out taking advantage of fresh air, friendships and movement. The gondola ride was extremely overpriced considering I wasn't skiing but it was all part of the adventure. The food was mediocre and also over priced - yet again this was expected. The gift shop was extremely fun especially seeing all the Lutsen memorabilia such as the sweatshirts and Christmas ornaments. Yes we ended up buying the overpriced gondola ornament as we couldn't resist. If you ski or snowboard, everyone in my party said this is a nice spot considering the hills in any other area of MN are not as large so you are getting more downhill ski exposure here. Enjoy!

THIS IS A REVIEW FOR THE ALPINE SLIDE IN SUMMERTIME We came to Lutsen to check it out during the summer and we only did the Alpine Slide - had no food or drinks. I came with my 9 year old daughter and we both did the slide. It lasted a good bit and was worth every penny! Included a gondola ride. Highly recommend doing this! So fun!

    Merry Christmas Eve!

I enjoyed our trip to Lutsen overall but feel violated by the experience as a whole. We paid top dollar for our lodging, lift tickets and entertainment but it often just fell flat at times. Papa Charlies is a complete rip off. Subpar food and overpriced drinks. I get it the place is seasonal, but $16 for a shot of Fernet is insane. We should have at least been warned before being served. The resort itself is just ran so shady and I often spent days waiting for the larger Moose Mountain to open to only be told not today. Considering this is a seven plus hour drive from Milwaukee, there are just better options for boarding near us where we get treated right across the board. Flying somewhere legit is also not out of the question after making this jaunt. Other than my dealings with the cost for what you get, bad actors at the resort lodge, and just an overall feeling of being violated for prices, it was an good trip. We made it to and from safe despite up and down weather, and for that I'm thankful. Our real saving grace was our condo we rented, which is not ran or affiliated with Lutsen proper and is privately owned. Will likely be finding elsewhere to spend our hard-earned money for our next skication.

Amazing fall color views from these mountains. Everyone should visit this place. They have Gandola and alpine ride in these mountains. Only thing is make sure you have your tickets booked way before you come. You need to be ready for big traffic lines on weekends and holidays.

Had a blast shreddin gnar with friends on the last weekend of the season! Gorgeous sunny day in the 40s couldn't have been better. But why shut down the lift lines at 3:30?! Way too early for this beautifully perfect spring day! Mountain Meltdown at Papa Charlie's made for some fun après ski!

Summer or fall destination too! There is an alpine slide that is super long and fun! You can purchase individual ride tickets, a booklet, or get a wristband and ride for hours. The ride up the lift to the top of the hill is fun all by itself. Great views of Lake Superior! The mountain tram departs not far from where the slide ends and the gift shop is. You can buy a combo slide/tram ticket if you'd like to do both, which I recommend! The tram takes you across a rocky stream bed and through the trees until going straight up the mountain side. Eeeek! Exciting and fun! Once you get to the other side you can grab a snack or beverage at the new chalet or hike around the trails. Beautiful!

I couldn't find the fee before booking, so I didn't know what it was until I received my receipt. I thought $100 was a little high. The amenities in the unit were nice, but very minimal. They could benefit from providing silverware, plates, and maybe even a toaster or toaster oven. However, the fireplace and whirlpool tub were top-notch. The resort also lacks privacy. They have beautiful windows that open up to offer views of the river and Lake Superior, but the North Shore Trail, which guests can use for lake access, runs right in front of all the units so if you want your blinds open your basically on display most of the time. Luckily, we visited during the off-season, so the resort wasn't busy at all. We stayed in room 556, and in our building specifically, our enclosed patio faced directly into one of the other units. Again, we were lucky that it was non-peak season, but it wouldn't have been my preference if the resort was busier. I was happy to see they offered pet-friendly rooms, but I wish I had booked one without the enclosed patio for easier access to let the dog outside. Parking was convenient, with designated spots right in front of the building. Overall, the stay was nice, but I would probably choose a different option if I returned to the area.

I had the worst sleep of my life here…read more Let me explain: When I booked my reservation over 2 months ago, I mentioned in my reservation notes that I would like a pack and play/crib for my baby. I called the resort at the time I made my reservation and got confirmation that they have p&p's. At check in, the front desk receptionist mentioned "I see that you requested a pack and play?" I confirmed. He stated "there should be one in the room, but if not, call this number." There wasn't a p&p in the room & it was burning hot inside. I called the number that he listed, which was not in service. Then I dialed 0 & asked where the AC was located. He responded, "AC's are not included on the accomodations." Excuse me?! I knew the resort was older, but can't imagine sleeping here in the summer humidity. After asking "do you have a fan, at least?" He responded "there should be one in the drawer." Thank goodness they had that much! I then asked about the missing p&p. They told us they were working on it. 30 mins passed, I completed my baby's bedtime routine and she was rolling around, fussing, wanting to go to bed. Still no p&p. My husband went down to speak to the receptionist and the receptionist stated "they are trying to locate one in storage." We waited another 30 mins or so, wondering if they even had any after 1 hour. My baby was crying because she wanted to sleep and her sleep space wasn't available. By this time over an hour had passed. I went downstairs to the receptionist and asked again if they found a p&p They stated "we are working on finding one for you. They have to go into the storage unit." I responded, "you mentioned it would be in our room and I listed it on the reservation." He said, "I have no way of seeing the reservation requests until you check in." So no one looks through reservations ahead of time and makes sure they can accommodate guests? Before you suggest, why not just put her in our bed? Well, she isn't a graceful sleeper, and she thinks being near us = play time. By this time since my baby was in such a bad mood, we decided to bite the bullet and have her sleep in bed with us. We set her down & after an hour of fussing, rolling around,& kicking us, she finally slept. 3.5 hours passed since we checked in and we heard a knock on our door. Wes ignored the knock since we didn't want to wake our baby. A few minutes later, the room phone rang. This upset me. What if all of us were sleeping and the call woke our baby up after all the effort to get her to sleep? The common sense was just lacking. I picked up the phone and they said they managed to "locate" a pack and play and they said that "it's probably too late." Well, duh. 3.5 hours. I responded "yes, it is, she is already sleeping." They left it outside our door for the night. My daughter woke up crying a couple times throughout the night since she couldn't get comfortable and both my husband and I didn't sleep well at all. We didn't want to risk fully waking her up by opening the creeky door and setting up the pack and play while she was sleeping on and off. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends having your infant sleep in a separate sleeping space due to risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. So not only is not providing a pack and play in a timely manner unsafe, it's also morally irresponsible. All that aside, the pillows were so uncomfortable, I ended up sleeping without a pillow (!) because they hurt my neck. The bed was also too soft with no support and the material made both my husband and I very hot. Not a good combo with no air conditioning. Also, don't bother getting a lake view room, because the windows are covered with a really unattractive netting and you can get the same view from outside. The next morning when at check out, I asked to speak to a manager. Other receptionists there validated my concerns. They told me the manager wouldn't be in for another hour and they said that he would call me the same day. It's been 2 days and I never received a call from any manager from this resort. I overheard another unhappy patron mentioning she got locked out of one of the buildings one night and no one was answering her calls at the front desk. It's pitch black near this resort so I imagine that was terrifying! I could go on and on with more terrible things about this place but I will spare further details. Please listen to the negative reviews for this resort. I wish I did! TLDR: Isn't the whole point of booking a resort/hotel is ensuring EVERYONE in your family has a place to sleep? Think about it. Edit: unprofessional response to my constructive criticism. Should I bring my own bed to the hotel, too? Please attempt to remedy the situation before getting offended at my honest review.

Our room was nice. We had a lake side room with a deck. The many trees took away some of the view but also provided some nice shade. Our deck was a little behind the deck off the room next to ours but they were never outside when we were so it was quiet and peaceful. We had a king sized bed with a small sitting area. The bathroom had a jacuzzi and plenty of counter space. We used a tub a few times to soak aching hiking legs. Always had super hot water, very relaxing. While it was summer, nights could get a little chilly and the fireplace in the room was a great way to take the chill out. I also appreciated the ceiling fan in the room. We did take advantage of the s'more packets from the front desk for an evening by a roaring fire. Love that perk. We had a great stay and I would certainly recommend it to anyone but there were two things I wish they could correct. First is the TV. After a full day of hiking, we often wanted to come back and veg. The TV was small and had very poor reception (double images, fuzzy pictures). A nicer TV would be appreciated. Second, I know the pandemic had a tough effect on many businesses and hiring to full staff has been difficult, but it was a rather pricey room considering no housekeeping. While we could call and get anything we needed, it did take a call on our part. I would have appreciated even just picking up used towels and supplying fresh towels each day plus emptying garbage as a minimum. I don't need my floors swept and bathroom cleaned every day but fresh towels, especially after getting dirty and muddy from hiking would have been great. I hope your resort continues to thrive. It was a lovely stay and the location cannot be beat.

There are two fire pits in the back but only one with a poker stick and woodpile. Thankfully there was someone out there before us so there were some embers left, enough to start a new fire. The bugs were atrocious though, thankfully we had bugs spray we could dose ourselves in or else it wouldn't have been worth it. The grounds itself were beautiful this time of year! Indoor pool has a slide though that my grown husband quite enjoyed. The rooms themselves are spacious, looks like they were recently renovated with clean bathrooms. Like there was no water left, I hopped out and tried to rinse off my face in the sink and that didn't have any water either! An historic property and place to stay near Lutsen with all the townhomes having Lake Superior…read moreviews and access. We stayed for three nights last second booking a same day reservation now that these are managed by Odyssey Resorts (thanks, Jackie at the call center!). Plenty of space for two of us in this one-bedroom rental which had a master bed/bath on ground level as well as full kitchen, dinning, living room, and wood burning stove. Never turned the TV on but had a nice flat screen and plenty of DVDs, books, games. Best part was the giant private patio where we enjoyed our coffee and drinks most days. Charcoal grill at each cabin and communal fire pits. Had the windows open all day as weather was perfect in late July. Could hear the waves crashing against the shore. The lodge area has super friendly staff, more DVDs, maps of local area and hikes, as well as a pool, hot tub, bikes to rent, playground, and more. This property is perfectly located near tons of hiking and Lutsen Ski Resort. Since they're townhomes you are quite close to neighbors and foot traffic but all in all we had an amazing long weekend. Will be back!

We come here almost every year and absolutely love it every time. The units have cooking utensils…read moreand necessities which is super useful. I love the amount of books and puzzles they have in the units as well. You can hear the waves all the time which is really nice and adds to the ambiance
