A week ago I went for an appointment and the woman (whom I have had before) wanted to upsell me a new gel they are using. It cost $10 more, and I've never had problems with gel in the 15 years I've used it, so I declined. And of course, exactly one week later 4 out of 10 nails are lifting and catching in my hair. I am so disgusted and honestly hurt right now. I have been coming to this nail salon for awhile now. I just had one of the most disappointing experiences. I've had several experiences with the male "manager" here. I continued to come back because the ladies that work in the salon are so kind, efficient and they always take their time and always make me feel welcome. Today I called and was told I could walk in because I just wanted a polish change on my fingernails and toenails. I got here and signed in and he made sure to tell me to wait, which I already knew because I am a WALK IN. Minutes after I arrived 2 other patrons came in and he told them the wait would be 20 or so minutes. When an opening came available he asked the 2 women that came in AFTER me if they came in before me. Granted I'm literally sitting right there as well. They quickly told him that I was here first. I was shocked and dumbfounded. I even asked him why he chose to ask them instead of me. I asked for the manager and they said he's the manager. I then asked about the owner and the technician told me she didn't know and that she just works here. He then approached me and asked if he'd done something wrong. I explained to him that I felt he was rude and that I've had several experiences with him that have been unpleasant. I told him that I noticed that he treated people with my skin color differently than other people. He immediately dismissed me and told me it's up to me whether I choose to come back as he made a scene in front of everyone. I asked about the manager and owner and he said everyone is the manager and there's no owner because it's owned by a corporation. I told him I didnt appreciate him making a scene and asked him to just leave me alone. He kept on as all of the patrons watched. I felt humiliated and hurt. He also lied and said he didn't ask me because I had my AirPods in and was on the phone. I had 1 AirPod in and I was not talking on the phone as he implied when he asked the other people if I came in first. He made my technician feel responsible and she apologized over and over and tried making excuses for him. I told her it was absolutely not her fault and to not feel guilty. I am heartbroken that I won't be able to get my nails done by these women, but there's no way I can ever come back here after this experience. read more

After relocating to this area I was a little scared to try something new but really had no other option, so I went to a nail salon near pizza maestros not to far from here at all...they messed my nails up so bad and I was so embarrassed of them. Came here immediately after, and was helped very quickly. I got a new set of acrylics, that I was very much happy of! I researched several nail salons before going here. I called ahead and made an appointment to make sure they could see me. When I got there I patiently wanted 20 minutes to be seen. I told them I had builder gel and wanted a nail built for one nail I was missing. The nail tech did not listen to anything I asked. She put a tip on when I asked her not to. I tried to explain several times what I wanted and she did what she wanted. I also asked for a design when I came in and they waited until the very end to tell me they couldn't do the design and it was too late for me to leave. At one point I was surrounded by 4 different people talking around in a language I couldn't understand and it was very intimidating. I left with nails that are crooked, some thinner than others, and just misshapen all together. I felt like they were rushed and didn't want to do my nails. Tracy was very quick and the design is perfect. I walked in but it was obvious that reservations are highly encouraged. They were very nice! This was my first time being hit with fees I didn't think applied to my design. Now that I am aware, I'd say the only unnecessary fee is "acrylic cut down" for $5 since growth is natural and should be included in the $28+. My advice is to make sure you know how much the additions are and what applies to your appointment and then it won't be a surprise. However the nail tech is not the best communicator or I should say had a hard time understand me probably due to a language barrier. No customer service, cut two of my nails extremely short- I asked for short but it has to be square, she totally rounded it!!! In the end, since she can't even the polish she has to apply one more coat, that's totally fine! However she did even worse job even it out. I post a pic for a proof. I 've never been so miss treated in my life that I ended up not letting her finish the full service but sill paid for it anyways ( not the point). I found Lux on Yelp and decided to drop in on a Saturday afternoon. I was very glad I did! The shop is cozy in size and still under construction with new management. The staff was friendly and offered me something to drink. What I appreciated the most was the casual conversation they carried with me in English. Normally I feel like I'm in the middle of a foreign argument when I'm at other nail shops, which is so unprofessional. Tina did my nails and offered modest suggestions to my original idea. She did the SNS dip powder and filed them to a natural, wearable length and thickness. I love this shop for Nails- I'm back to acrylics, they work best for me, and this shop is great. I never have an issue with lifting or the nails being too thick or thin, and the shape is spot on. So for nails, this shop receives 5 stars. The 4 stars is for the pedicure. While the pedicure itself was fine, the chairs, while beautiful, are not comfy and almost impossible to get out of! They are awkward and I did make a little dig in my fresh polish, but didn't go back inside once I got to my car and noticed it. I have been to a couple of places on my trip to Huntersville that were ehhh, ok, but this place is fantastic!! I visit my office in NC about once every other month and I love to try new places when I am here and I happened to need my nails done, sooo I Yelped "nails" and found that this place was around the corner. When I parked the sign did not say Lux nails it says some other name and I was a bit confused but I was greeted by a very friendly guy who asked about how I found them and if the name came up on Yelp. He was so friendly and nice and I felt immediately comfortable as soon as he started talking. I was immediately seated in a very luxurious spa chair for my pedicure. It was amazing! Of course I was served wine and Tina was very sweet and extremely professional. I opted for the Organic pedicure with a green tea scrub. It was fabulous! Then I was seated at their nail bar for an acrylic fill with gel polish. Again, wonderful!! My nails came out just like I wanted and I am very happy. I came in and picked a blue sns (purple rain) powder from the samples I was given, and the technician painted my toes the incorrect color (granite peak) and then matched the sns powder to my toes. I attempted to show her the color she actually used versus what I picked and she continued to say it was matched, even though it was clearly not the color and not even the same color family. I told her I did not like the color and she offered no fix besides "they match". At the end of the service I asked how much it would cost me to have the color fixed as I really did not want dark grey/black nails and was told it would be $45. I questioned why it would be full price for a color fix and she asked me to move away from the desk to check someone else out. Horrible customer service. read more

I've been looking for a nail salon in Huntersville and have not had much luck until I took at chance on Lux Queen's when I saw a sign in their window for a Grand Opening. I was in desperate need of a great nail salon on Easter weekend. The salon was not crowded and I was about to go right to a pedicure chair once signing in and picking a nail color. The employees were really nice and explained to me all the pedicure options. The salon is decorated really nice and I love the chairs at the pedicure area. I only wish the chairs had the massage feature, that is one of the things I look forward to the most when getting a pedi. Before I received my pedi I was offered a glass of wine or soft drink. I went with a glass of wine which was really good and was able to get a second glass during my mani. I loved my pedi, it was not rushed and I loved the scrub and hot stone massage that was included in the pedi package I selected. The nail tech did a great job painting my nails, it was not sloppy. I also got a SNS mani. The male tech that did my mani was awesome! He shapped my nails exactly how I wanted them and made sure I was happy with how my SNS color looked. My nails have lasted almost a month now, no chipping or cracking and the SNS has not lifted off of my nails. SNS is definitely worth the extra money. I love their work guarantee, when I was leaving he told me if I had any chips or cracks within a week to come back and they would fix it. read more

It was right in Birkdale Village so a really great location for a self-care Sunday or girl's night with dinner to follow. My nails look fabulous and I will definitely be going back! UPDATE: After reading the owners response, Just posted a pic of my nails after they did them the time before. These were my "aggressively long" nails he was referring to. This is my standard length. Nothing outrageous or fancy. Only aggression here was from the owner. It's honestly sad, mishaps in the service business happen and can easily be rectified and customers retained but a terrible attitude and contempt for your customers simply are unacceptable and unsustainable. Found this salon a few months ago and the first few visits were good. The tech did a good job with SNS, however similar to other reviewers, the gentleman who seemed to be in charge gave me a hard time about the 10% off first time check-in discount from yelp. He told me as well that yelp automatically adds that and the only way to get it is to leave a positive review and he did not want to honor it. Additionally, while I never argued, over the course of 4 or 5 visits I've been charged differently a few times for the exact same service so I'm not exactly sure how much SNS should cost so beware. Things went downhill when I went in a few weeks ago on a Friday evening to get my SNS done before leaving for Florida the next morning. When I got to the car my nails seemed very sharp with very sharp edges and looking at it it was thinner than normal. It was late in the evening Friday night and I was leaving first thing the next morning I didn't have time to go back in so I filed the sharp edges down slightly when I got home. Within a few days while I was away the SNS actually started to crack and hip off on multiple finger nails leaving my own natural nail exposed in several places. Trying to save my natural nails until I got home was a futile effort. I ended up with three separate finger nails having split almost in half and broke off. Again trying to salvage things I trimmed those broken nails down which left them much shorter than the other nails. After they continued to crack I was left with no other option but soaking them off completely. My nails were in such poor condition I am now left with very brittle and extremely short nails some almost down to the quick and it's been two weeks since they were removed. With my natural nails destroyed I decided to return and ask for tips and SNS so that I could lease return to a look similar to what they were prior to this terrible experience. I thought as a reputable salon they should know about the issue and I'd give them another chance. I never once asked for anything free or discounted, I was simply explaining what occurred and why I was there. I spoke to the same gentleman who gave me difficulty previously with the yelp discount and who several other reviewer's have also had poor experiences with. I explained the situation and he was incredibly defensive, arrogant and made up many excuses, told me they never do them thin unless the customer asks. I told him I did not ask, he essentially called me a liar. Told me I must have soaked them extensively in water which I did not. He continued to be argumentative with me. I said previously I had no issues but this time there was a problem. I said I had medium length natural nails before and because of the last time it's destroyed my nails. He told me if my nails were long that's why they were breaking! I've been doing SNS for years, after a few weeks I've had instances where they may start to pull up a bit at The bottom after a few weeks, but I have never had the SNS completely crack off. The length of nails should not matter if SNS is done properly, At that point it was clear he had no interest in my business and wanted to continue to argue. I calmly said OK I think I'll leave and walked out. It's unfortunate every business has its issues but what defines a good business is how they handle them. It's very clear from multiple reviews that this owner is not customer service oriented. I definitely do not recommend the salon if you have any issues he will certainly not be open to address. read more
