I wanted to get some Mediterranean food catered for a small house party. It was my daughters birthday and she loves middle eastern food. I came across lux restaurant so i called to get some more information. I spoke to Jiro over the phone. I had many questions and he was very polite to answer all of them with clear explanations. He helped walk me through what i should order according to how many people i was having at the party. The food was ready when i went to pick it up, they helped me organize everything in the car. The food was great! All of my guests loved it and they were all asking where the food was from. Overall it was a great experience, everyone was very professional from start to finish! Great small Armenia restaurant in Little Armenia Los Angeles. Came here for a birthday party and was pleasantly surprised. My observations: Good: + Modern decor. Actually, the decor is my favorite component of this review. it was actually beautiful. Marble floors, color changing ceiling and wall crystals, great lighting effects and interior design overall was great. + Singer was great and had great energy singing through the songs. Although we were all dressed up and he was in jeans and a shirt. I would think it would be more appropriate to wear slacks and dress shirt. + Food was delicious and had great variety. I didn't place the orders and so don't know what the cost was. However, I can vouch the food was good. Seafood, salads and meats. No complaints. + Service was on point too. Plates were cleaned up promptly, drinks were refilled and food was served timely. What I thought could use improvement: - Valet was $7! What!? Rip off! Come on now... - People smoke cigarettes way too close to the main door and all of the smoke gets into the restaurant. Not a huge fan of cigarettes when I'm dining and having a good time. - Ventilation was poor. It was really stuffy and hot in here. People were constantly sweating and feeling uncomfortable. When people are dancing and drinking alcohol, it should be an absolute must to turn the thermostat down to cooler temperatures. If you want a small quality restaurant to throw a birthday bash or party, this is it. Depending on your party size, you may be able to reserve the place for yourself. Other Russian and Armenian restaurants that are larger you will likely have to share the space with other parties. As Arnold says.... I'll be back. read more

I'm not sure I would call Lux a restaurant. It is more of a banquet hall. It is geared towards serving large groups such as an office party, wedding reception, or other parties. The group I went with consisted of about 80 people, which fit comfortably into the space. The food was excellent and there is a LOT of it. The courses seemed to just keep coming and coming. We were actually slightly full even before we had finished all of the appetizers. The food is Armenian and it is really hard to describe since I don't know the names for all of the dishes. There were lots of different meat and fish (beef, pork, chicken, salmon) along with stuffed grape leaves, pickled vegetables, sauces (hummus, tahini, etc.). I recently went to an engagement party here and I think it was a decent banquet hall for smaller parties. There were about 70 guests at our event and it felt comfortable, not too crammed or busy. The dance floor was a bit small, and I found myself trying to be extra careful not to run into any chairs close to the dance floor. The food was average, not bad but also not very memorable. The bbq was decent, the salmon was average, and the stuffed mussels were okay but could've been a little warmer, maybe? There were plenty of dips and appetizers - many recognizable dishes you would see at most Armenian banquet halls like sarma (rice stuffed grape leaves), hummus, yogurt dip, eggplant dip, basturma (cured beef), etc. There were also plenty of vegetarian options. The servers were polite and helpful, and overall the service was good. The one problem I had with this venue is that it wasn't entirely disabled-friendly, as they claim on their website.There is a ramp at the entrance of the restaurant which was helpful, but the restroom was a different story. My grandmother uses a wheelchair and the bathroom was so tiny, her wheelchair could barely fit. The restroom was already tiny for everyone else, because you had to be careful to not hit anyone washing their hands at the sink when you're opening the door. There was a stall close to the entrance which we thought would be easier to get into, but there was just not enough room to move. We ended up having to hold her hands and walk her to the stall and toilet very carefully. The toilet was also really low which made it a little difficult for her to get up. Small bathrooms usually aren't an issue for me, but they can be extremely inconvenient for someone with a wheelchair. The hall itself was pretty nice, there were a lot of lights changing colors and you didn't need too many decorations because the restaurant already looked good on its own. Overall, I would recommend this venue for any small party or gathering. read more

We order catering from them for parties and their food is amazing. They have delicious salads and great bbq. My favorite is their jalapeño yogurt salad so fresh and spicy i love it. Their kebabs are very tasty too. Ive been to parties at this restaurant too and they have great service and great food. The place is very pretty. The portion sizes were perfect, there was many different options to choose from and the bbq was perfectly cooked. The owner was so kind. He delivered the appetizers early so that we can set the table before the guests arrive, then he made a second trip to delivery the entrees at a later time so that the food doesn't get cold and stays hot for the guests.
