We hosted my mother's birthday here and the service was impeccable! The food was delicious and plentiful for our guests. The manager Armine was helpful from start to finish. The hall is renovated and has a wonderful black and gold theme. They also provided music (singer and DJ) with our birthday package. Valet was on site. We were able to bring in our own cake and decorations. Overall, very satisfied and will recommend for future events!

This place has been on my mind for two weeks now. I hate to leave a bad review, so I thought I'd skip out on leaving one here... but honestly I take my reviews seriously and had I read a review like mine maybe I would have skipped out on this experience. So i'm not from this area and don't go very often. I was in town and really hungry! Looked up yelp reviews for the restaurant local to me and saw this spot, It was in like the top 5! Ok so of course I got excited because I've always wanted to try Armenian food and wanted to support a local spot. When I walk up I see they have an umbrella with valet parking. I'm thinking this place is going to be kind of fancy? I go inside, they seemed... surprised I walked in? The servers or whoever was working there was sitting down. It honestly left me confused so I asked if it was a restaurant (lol!). Just the setup of the place through me off. And I immediately smelled hookah when I walked in, which was off putting to me because I didn't realize it was a hookah bar. Anyway, the server pointed me to where she was going to seat me. It was an interesting arrangement. They had tiny cubicles like rooms, so that whoever is dining has a room in a tiny room with a table. Literally the room just barely fits the tables and seats. I'm thinking okay, maybe this is great for business trip lunches? The server was very kind and sweet when she sat me down. I take a few minutes to look at the menu; I have never had Armenian food mind you, and there are no pictures or descriptions, so when the server comes to check on me I ask her a few questions to try to get a better understanding of the menu items. I also asked her what her favorite salad was, she told me the tomato & cucumber salad. I finally ordered the shish kabob thinking I can't go wrong because I know exactly what it is, asked what sides it comes with, to which she said either fries or rice. I ordered rice as my side. She also then asked if I would like to order a salad as well, and I said no, I won't be able to eat all of that food. Fast forward to maybe 10 or 15 minutes later, she comes in and to my surprise brings me the tomato and cucumber salad. Immediately I am thinking it's either because i'm pregnant or because I'm middle eastern, and she is just being nice and hospitable. Looking back now, I obviously wish I had said something because she even mentioned to me that her English is not the best. But I didn't. The salad wasn't bad, it was fresh cucumbers, tomatoes & onions with olive oil, lemon juice and herbs. Next she brings in my shish kabob with fries & steak! So I'm really think she is being super nice and bringing extra things to be nice. I really wish I liked it, but I did not like the food ): the kabob was over cooked and the meat didn't seem fresh. Same with the rice, I can bet that rice was at least a day old. The fries were insanelyyy salty, but whatever I didn't even order them in the first place so I didn't care too much about that anyway. Okay so she brings me the check... and she charged me for the salad! It was like $15 for that simple tomato & cucumber salad. My total was around $60 and I barely ate my food. I was in shock and also embarrassed so I didn't say anything about the salad. But after leaving and thinking about my experience I had to leave a review. That place has potential but they definitely need to up their game... especially for those prices.

This restaurant is so different then other restaurants because of the management. I would like to thank Armine for her hospitality and delicious food and service. We will be back again!

I've had a lot of Armenian food in my life, but this place honestly reminded me of the kind of cooking you only get at family gatherings.

Ordered two of the standard dinner and two of the vegan dinner and it was a lots of food--we ended up taking about 4 boxes to go at the end of the meal, definitely come hungry if you decide to do the set menu. My personal favorite was the falafel and the baba ghanoush, especially with the pomegranate seeds which provided a nice brightness. I appreciated the variety of flavors across the different appetizers and plates. Had the choice of coffee, hot mint tea, or hot black tea to close out the meal which helped with digestion. The space is lavishly decorated and it was busy throughout, while likely also was the cause for slower service. Street parking wasn't too hard to find as it was still early for dinner time on Sunday.

We ordered two of the carousel plates with four different meats: beef, veal, filet, and chicken. The beef and chicken kebabs were super flavorful. It paired deliciously with their rice, roasted veggies, and cabbage salad. I also love their crispy thin pita chips. I was not a fan of the veal liver as it was too gamey for me. Overall the food was really good and the portion sizes were great. Drinks: 3/5 The drinks here were not that good. They were a dollar or two higher than your regular bar. However, the taste was mediocre. Their hibiscus Paloma was very bland and a little watered down. Service: 5/5 We came here on a Friday night at 7pm, we had a reservation and got seated pretty quickly despite it being quite busy. Our server checked up on our table often and our food came out pretty fast. They also gave out some bread, cheese, veggies, and olives while we waited for our food. Ambiance: 5/5 This place is lively and feels a little upscale. They have an outdoor seating area as well. Overall, I would come back here for the food, but maybe not the drinks.

If you order just the meat (not combo), you'll get double the meat and sides. Basically the rice is being replaced with extra meat so if you don't care for rice, definitely get the Non-combo as the price is insanely cheap!! Been ordering from here for almost 30 yrs and they've managed to stay so consistent with their serving size & flavors. Also, their prices are insane! I don't know how they stay in business with such affordable prices. They're definitely doing something right! Highly Highly recommend!

TLDR: Hear me out, if you have any doubt about chicken being less superior to beef or other meat. TRY the chicken thigh here. It makes justice for chickens (I still need to try their beef or lamb tho) I was running errands in Glendale today and I was starving and looking for lunch spots around. Turns out Mini Kabob was 3 mins walk away, it was a no brainer, my feet just took me there. Didn't expect to go there, so didn't order ahead but I'm fine with waiting. After last time's magnificent chicken thigh, I was determined to try their other entrees. However, Armen said the chicken thigh is the best seller out of their entrees- well, time for a round 2 I guess? This time I'm eating the entree at the spot and I just gotta say- IT SLAPS!! I'm genuinely not a big fan of chicken, because when you can choose beef why chicken? But this chicken is so juicy, so tender, so heavenly. Yummy!! The garlic sauce is great but the hummus and the fresh lavash, h o l y - f. Last time it was already so good even as a leftover, and eating it right at the spot is just transcending. I also tried their Armenian pear soda, it's delicious and refreshing with the heat right now in summer. I left with my tummy happy and their service is always great, they get busy but still no attitude, no bs, gives the right recommendations. Even this is like a take out restaurant, it still surpasses most of the kabob restaurant. Without doubt I'm coming back again after their break, please be there. I love you mini kabob

That's not all, tip will also be requested when checking out. Our Visit: My family and I have visited Elena's before and had a good experience, which is why this visit was so disappointing. This time, we noticed a clear drop in food quality, portion sizes, overall service and an unexpected new surprise on the bill. I came in with my wife, our two young children (10month old and 2 year old), and my mom. Unfortunately, the pita bread was stale, a portion of my wife's chicken was undercooked, the portions were noticeably smaller than before, and the server completely forgot my mom's drink. Those issues alone were frustrating, but what really stood out were the added fees at the end, fees that were not charged in the past. We were charged a 20% "large party fee", along with an additional "service fee". When I spoke with the owner, he explained that their system automatically applies a large party charge to any group of 4 or more people, including babies who don't even order food. That threshold seems unusually low, especially since most places consider 6 or more a "large party" and from my experience typically don't consider babies 2 years and younger as occupants. Even more concerning, none of these fees were clearly communicated to us beforehand. Being surprised with multiple charges at the end of a meal feels misleading and leaves a bad impression. To add to that, after already including these fees, the payment process still prompts customers to leave an additional tip. I've only seen this type of fee structure at higher-end restaurants and for more people, not at a casual spot like this, and even then it's usually disclosed upfront. If a business is going to charge extra, the service and overall experience should reflect that. My recommendation for Elena's, if you want to make more money, just raise your food prices so your customers at least know how much they're going to spend at the end. Not slap surprise charges at the end and force your customers to pay. On a positive note, at least they were playing Fast and the Furious on their TV. PLEASE CHECK YOUR BILL. Please be aware of their shady business practices.
