    SS X.

It's not really a hotel in my opinion. It's set up like a motel. The front desk is in a separate building and the rooms are in a row in the back. It's adequate for 1 night only if you have no other options. So annoying to slepp over to the main building just to get hot water for my tea. Bring your own thermos and water, I was lucky I also had a half sandwich and apple in my bag for dinner. Nothing is in walking distance for food. Oh, the beds are so soft and uncomfortable, it's only for 20 yr olds with strong backs. I had a very uncomfortable night and i have a long drive ahead of me. I'm definitely not rested. IF you're GF the breakfast is skimpy. BUT, they have scrambled eggs and a cappuccino machine there which made my day. 1 star just for that. The bright spot was Chris at check-in. What a delightful young man.

Bait and switched the room rates. See attached. I stayed here 3 nights plus one night that I paid for a work crew. The night I checked in the rate was $80.10 plus tax with my AAA card. I advised I would probably stay a min of three nights and was assured the AAA rate I was paying would be applied for my entire stay. I then signed the pin pad at the front desk. The next week after concluding my stay, I checked my Amex and found I was charged $116.10 plus tax for the second night, and $134.10 plus tax for each night after that. WTF! I called and spoke with Tiffany who stated she was the GM. She also stated that after I signed for that first night they could basically change the rate carte blanch, at will, and not advise me of the change, charging whatever new rate they wished. She also said this was totally legal. I expect this is a practice they use frequently to squeeze every last penny from other unsuspecting visitors. I don't know if this is her policy personally, or that of the hotel owners, who I will also now try to contact. In any case this type of customer service usually backfires. Now I will start the long process of contesting this through Amex, all the social media channels, Chamber of Commerce, etc., etc. Thanks a lot Lux Verde

Having the opportunity to regularly stay over many accommodations across and occasionally outside the country, not a professional hotel reviewer by any means, and not a regular business traveler - but as a primarily pleasure and needs wanderer, I have developed as what I believe is my concise method for scoring the worthiness of each hotel visited. My criteria are as follows and the results are: 1) ease of access to and from public or private ground transportation [Score: 4.5 ]; 2) convenient and safe parking [Score : 3.5 ]; 3) access, accuracy and convenience of check in and check out [Score: 4.5 ]; 4) atmosphere, ambience, public facilities, lounging areas and access to an office center and Wi-Fi access [Score: 4.0 ]; 5) overall customer service - including but not limited to Hospitality, Support Services, Concierge knowledge, communication, attitude and demeanor of staff [Score: 4.0 ]; 6) quality, cleanliness, value, convenience, amenities (i.e., ironing board, iron, TV, charging access, phone, et.al.) and comfort of rooms, beds, room safe and/or valet services [Score: 3.5 ]; Taking all the aforementioned categories in a scale of 1 star to 5 stars with 1 being the worst and 5 being the best a hotel can be! This hotel rates a: 4.6. A well above average in our book! Most positive points at this hotel are: access to local activities, the downtown areas, overall cleanliness and welcoming atmosphere. Most negative points found here are: First: (and I must emphasize it was our second visit only) where someone in parking lot taking up 3 car spaces while fixing a vehicle up on jack stands during a full day, and late into the night. Second: Suite 106's floor appears not to have been mopped in forever! And third: Noisy folks in floor above us seemed to be jumping around til well after midnight - not making for a relaxing sleep. Don't get us wrong, we are still fans of the Pines. My price to value to overall assessment is good.

Walked upstairs to our room and the handle is broken... with sharpie written on the door "lift up to open". Walked into a HOT room to see that the bathroom sink is part of the bedroom. Unloaded and laid on the bed and almost bounced off. Spring mattress that has to either be 12 years old or the cheapest mattress money can buy. The head of the mattress also sinks lower than the foot. So you'll have a headache in the morning from high blood pressure all night. The bathroom door drags the floor. So either the floor is swelling from moisture or they have 10 layers of flooring on top of each other and didn't trim the door. Either way, you have to grab the door with both hands and push it open and closed. My kids wouldn't be able to open it by themselves. You can see the previous occupants also had trouble, upon arrival we noticed there was a hole on the wall where they opened the door too hard and the knob hit the wall and made a hole. The shower tub looks like it's ceramic or porcelain like a normal tub. But when you get in and standing under the shower you'll feel soft spots as if you're about to fall through the floor. The air conditioner was on high cool all night and still left us sweating. The threshold to the bathroom is also coming apart. It appears that their last attempt to super glue it didn't do too well with the swelling floors. To add to it, we ordered food. After it arrived we called the front to ask for water bottles or see if they had a little snack bar to purchase from. No. Nothing. No water in the room upon arrival. Nothing at the front. So we went across the street to Frys and got water. Returned to find police surrounding the hotel building closest to the office. Yes. Same hotel, just a closer section to the street/office. Guns drawn, 2 at the top, 1 at the bottom. They have a sign at the front desk that says they are rated top hotel by Hotels.com.
