A short get away to Sedona with our dog led us to this hotel for the very reason they were pet friendly. We had a wonderful experience, but what truly stood out was the staff's kindness after we left. My husband accidentally left his laundry bag behind, and Rosa, the cleaning lady, immediately notified her manager, Marcy Martinez. Marcy took time out of her busy day to personally drop the bag off at USPS and have it shipped back to us, all while we were already nine hours away in California. That level of care is rare and deeply appreciated. Rosa, Marcy, Kim, and Tory at the front desk were all incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional throughout our stay. I was given a room that allows pets and staff didn't tell me. Had I known I wouldn't have stayed. I ended up having several flea bites the next day on my hands and wrists, my arms and then later on my back. My whole hand and fingers got very swollen. I couldn't sleep the entire night due to scratching. So I checked the floor with my hand and it was dirty. This means the room hadn't been swept. The beds weren't made well. It seemed the sheets hadn't been changed at all. Then I saw a small bug crawling in my bed on the 2nd nite. I asked to be given another room the 2nd morning. Flea bites are incredibly painful with burning and unstoppable itching for at least 72 hours. I put on alcohol and took an antihistamine but I couldn't stop scratching my swollen hand and fingers. The front staff and manager were gaslighting me the whole time. They had absolutely no compassion bc I had complained about the room which they decided to translate as rude. What was rude was their unprofessional way of dealing with repeat customers who realized they had just slept on a bed full of fleas from who knows where carrying who knows what. I've been traveling for the past year visiting motels, hotels, and air Bnb's and have had a wonderful time everywhere. I even had a decent time when I was there the month before for 3 days. I hope this one awful experience doesn't happen to anyone else which is why I'm posting my one and only negative review, something I prefer not to do. The manager and front desk woman were colluding to make it look like it was my fault or that I was making it up that the floor was dirty and that I had gotten bit even though I showed them my hands. I had to spend a couple of hours doing laundry to be sure fleas weren't lingering on a day that I had many errands to do and when exhausted from not sleeping well due to the scratching. I got nothing done the whole day but the laundry. The sour faced woman at front desk stirred up trouble at every turn making it look like I was to blame for their negligence. She got the manager to join in. Really stupid duo. This is so not the way to treat an exhausted guest who had to deal with flea bites at the ineptitude of their own staff. It might be that Cottonwood, AZ is not a great place to stay in general. Though the restaurant is very good, I do not recommend to book a hotel that puts people without their consent into rooms where animals with fleas can sleep on the beds and, then refuse to recognize the negligence of their staff. Honestly, I don't know which is worse, the flea bites, lost night of sleep, loss of a day of activity, or the hostility and gaslighting from the staff. I was so happy to leave. read more

Beautiful rooms, was like a mini living room with a couch and coffee table. Good size desk and office chair. Very comfortable king size bed, 3 drawer dresser, end tables with drawers, plenty of lamps with plugs on them for convenience so you're not searching for outlets. Extremely clean bathroom with high end shampoo, conditioner and body wash supplied. (I will be ordering some online). Great shower, never ran out of hot water. Mini coffee maker with coffee, sugar and creamer. Ironing board, blow dryer and hangers. The free breakfast was very good! Many choices! Just an all around great hotel! Last night a large group of teens staying at this hotel harassed me and invaded my personal space. Four times they left property and came across the street where I was to do so. (I was not a guest.) After the 4th time, I game them very clear warning to stop harassing me or I would call the police. I did this on hotel property and in front of at least one of their chaperones/parents. This put an end to it, however, while I was there, I discovered where the annoying loud music I'd been hearing for a while was coming from - the white pick up truck parked on the back side of the hotel with doors open and thumping music playing. Apparently, this group either had the entire hotel to themselves, or they believe they did by just renting some rooms. How rude! There are homes on the back side of that hotel. This thumping music continued on to at least midnight. Where was management?? Do you not have your desk clerk walk the property on a regular basis at night?? I used to work in the hotel industry - clerking and managing. The lack of management last night NEVER would have seen light of day under my direction! If this occurs again, the police will be called first thing. And I don't want to hear how you apologize for the inconvenience. read more

It's not really a hotel in my opinion. It's set up like a motel. The front desk is in a separate building and the rooms are in a row in the back. It's adequate for 1 night only if you have no other options. So annoying to slepp over to the main building just to get hot water for my tea. Bring your own thermos and water, I was lucky I also had a half sandwich and apple in my bag for dinner. Nothing is in walking distance for food. Oh, the beds are so soft and uncomfortable, it's only for 20 yr olds with strong backs. I had a very uncomfortable night and i have a long drive ahead of me. I'm definitely not rested. IF you're GF the breakfast is skimpy. BUT, they have scrambled eggs and a cappuccino machine there which made my day. 1 star just for that. The bright spot was Chris at check-in. Our intention was to stay in Sedona, but after finding out some their prices, we opted to stay in Cottonwood. We find out about Lux Verde through yelp app. If you are watching your budget and you are still close to Sedona, but also there's plenty of things to do in Cottonwood as well. So great location, near shops and restaurant. The staff front desk was very friendly and offered places we should check out during our stay. The breakfast was pretty good and sufficient with eggs, waffles, sausages and other breakfast items, with cappuccino machine too. The lady monitoring kept the food filled and was so cheery and friendly. The room itself was clean, they had a strong shower water flow and toilet flush flow as well. I was charged $700 for 2 rooms for one night. Looking at the website and reviews and it being a weekend, I knew I would pay over normal price. I needed a disability room for my husband a room that allowed a dog for my daughter's dog. Being disappointed is putting it lightly! The rooms have never been updated for years. Every thing was old. Carpet was old and dirty and there was a thick layer of dust on everything in the room due to the weather stripping missing on bottom of the door. The coffee pot had mold and dust in it. The air conditioning unit was extremely noisy and we heard people walking above us till midnight. I could add more but you get the picture. Stay away! It's a dump!!!! read more

We were pleasantly surprised by this g of a motel. Clean rooms. Comfortable beds. Refreshing pool and relaxing hot tub. Even Fresh cookies in the lobby. But the best part is the staff. I had read other reviews that mentioned how nice the staff is, and I have to agree. From the maintenance guy, John, to the front desk lady, Summer, everyone was very kind and went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. What this hotel lacks, they make up for in the folks they hire for the front desk. They have great staff, including lovely Rosa, who works a lot of hours at the front desk and even came to our room to help solve computer connectivity issues (after we were kind of rude to hwr on the phone), and it was our own VPN (Surfshark) that was the issue. The hotel is clean and reasonable, with a nice breakfast, and a nice host, including make your own hot waffles. Yum. Let them know what kind of room you want in advance if you have a preference Ie. Tub or shower, 1st or 2nd floor. We always bring some ear plugs as I'm sensitive to the typical sounds of the exterior wall A/C fans, so it's no big deal. Pool and JaccuzI looked inviting and clean. From the front desk to management this hotel did not come close to offering competent customer service. A lot went wrong here, and if we were booking in Cottonwood again we would stay far, far away from this hotel. Let's start with the concrete, tangible issues. We arrived fairly late, 9ish. Got to our room, carried out things up and then left to go to the grocery store to get something to microwave for dinner. The door would not lock. No matter what we did, it wouldn't lock. We called the front desk, and he didn't believe us. After some persuading, he said he would change rooms and bring us the new key. In jest I said, "I hope it locks." He replied sarcastically, "I would hope all of our doors would lock." Umm, no. Nope. We moved all of our things to our new room and by this time it's almost 10pm. The grocery store is near closing. We zoom over and receive a phone call from the front desk. I need you to sign one more time. Because you have the new room. I explained we were trying to make it to the grocery store and promised to sign what he needed when we returned. We make it in the nick of time. We head back and my husband signs for the new room. Now my husband is usually a morning person but we've been traveling, and he's a little off his normal schedule, so he did his business...and the toilet clogged. Well, this can happen. So no big deal. We call the front. After some back and forth, he calls us and announces that he can't find a plunger, and we're going to have to deal with it like that till the morning. We tell him that's not okay. He says there is nothing he can do. So we went without a working toilet until 10:30am the next morning. Check out is at 11am. So far, that's a broken lock and a broken toilet. Now if you're still with me, thank you. I'll try not to disappoint you. Now, we're of the belief that when we pay for something, we should receive what we're paying for. We did not. Our money is not broken, our door and our toilet should not be broken. So, I complained to the assistant manager Polly who was quite nice. She said she would see if we could receive a partial discount, but she'd have to check to see if Hotels.com would approve it since we paid with them. Now, we only paid with hotels.com because when we first went in and inquired at the front desk the guy said they were fully booked. Totally booked, not one room available. Yet, when we went back into the car and looked again on hotels.com it showed rooms were available. So, I called him up and said, "The third party shows rooms are available." So, if I book with hotels.com can I get a room. At first, he said, "There are no rooms." Then, he said, "Let me check with my associate." He came back saying that "his associate" says if we can book a room with a 3rd party app then they have the room. So, that's what we did. So, Polly asked me to give her our name and number, and she would get back to us. She never did. In the meantime, a few days later, my husband checks his credit card, and low and behold hotels.com charged us for the room AND Lux Verde Hotel also charged us for the room. So, if you're keeping track that's: 1. Broken lock. 2. Broken toilet. 3. Double charge. 4. Front desk guy who is clueless. It takes several days for us to reach someone. I reached the manager. I don't remember her name. She fixed the double charge, acting like she was doing me the largest favor in the world, when really she was correcting the front desk guy's mistake. But...I was grateful. Then, I spoke with her about what else happened. She kept saying, "But he moved you, right?" Finally, she said the best she could do was give us 20% off a future stay. HUH? Why would I ever want to stay here again? Finally, she said, "What do you want?" I said, "A partial refund would be nice. Even a whole refund." "I can't do that because you paid with hotels.com. It's impossible." Argggg. So, I called hotels.com and they tried to refund us but needed approval from the hotel The hotel REFUSED a partial refund. She called and spoke with the manager twice on our behalf. Finally, hotels.com issued us a $29 coupon for a future stay somewhere. While I appreciate what they did, this should have come from the hotel at the first moment I made the management aware of the problems. STAY AWAY. read more

The past week, I have been on a roadtrip through AZ and NM. Lux Verde was the first place we stayed at, and overall they ticked all of the necessary boxes for a motel. The rooms have gone through refurbishment, so even with carpet, they still are and smell clean. The room was spacious too and had a coffee maker, fridge and microwave. The appliances are not new though and especially the fridge was a bit noisy. They tidied up our room in between nights. Staff is friendly and helpful, they know all of the local restaurants well and can also give advice on what to visit at which times. The location itself is about half an our drive from Sedona, which is easy enough for hiking. It's also 5 minutes from Old Town Cottonwood, which is charming to walk around in and find a place to eat. The motel itself, although on a busier road, is quiet because the buildings are in the back of the lot. There is plenty of parking on site. They also offer free breakfast. The only downside was that they were doing pool maintenance, which made the entire courtyard area inaccessible. So you had no space to sit outside and relax for a bit, other than the smoker's table next to the wall across the parking lot. I'd definitely stay here again on a other Sedona trip because the price/quality is very good and it's more quiet than Sedona for sure. read more

Bait and switched the room rates. See attached. I stayed here 3 nights plus one night that I paid for a work crew. The night I checked in the rate was $80.10 plus tax with my AAA card. I advised I would probably stay a min of three nights and was assured the AAA rate I was paying would be applied for my entire stay. I then signed the pin pad at the front desk. The next week after concluding my stay, I checked my Amex and found I was charged $116.10 plus tax for the second night, and $134.10 plus tax for each night after that. WTF! I called and spoke with Tiffany who stated she was the GM. She also stated that after I signed for that first night they could basically change the rate carte blanch, at will, and not advise me of the change, charging whatever new rate they wished. She also said this was totally legal. I expect this is a practice they use frequently to squeeze every last penny from other unsuspecting visitors. I don't know if this is her policy personally, or that of the hotel owners, who I will also now try to contact. In any case this type of customer service usually backfires. I really wasn't sure what to expect, but I primarily needed something pet friendly and reasonably priced. While driving from Southern California back to Oklahoma, THIS was a pleasant surprise. Beautiful view to wake up to and surprisingly sweet amenities. The king room seemed to be very recently renovated with a wonderful shower and vanity in the bathroom. The staff during check in (I forgot her name, but she was so very kind-- she had a head scarf on and rhinestone reading glasses) was so helpful about my ESA dog and informative about the area. Check out was a breeze, thanks to the woman who helped then. All in all-- I would recommend again and again. I wish I could've stayed longer. Truly. read more

We stayed here for a couple nights while visiting Sedona (apprx 20 miles away). here is the break downs: Pros: less traffic than Sedona / cheaper Cons: first impression is that the room is newly renovated but they didn't update the appliances, the ac is super loud and the fridge is leaking water inside. They completely skipped & forgot cleaning our room on the 2nd day. (We never put on the " do not disturb " sign). They just never came. I would explore other hotel options if I am ever in the area again. If you choose this place, be warned of the potential cons above. read more

I loved this hotel! It was clean and the pool was great. Breakfast was good! Great customer service. The girls at the front desk were both amazing. They even called in advance to make sure everything was on point. The Bella Vita restaurant attached was a superb dining experience! Our waiter was amazing. All staff exceeded expectations. Food was delicious! Decor was spooky and romantic. I highly recommend this place. Will return! And I can't wait! PS I live in Las Vegas so I am kinda a snob about customer service. I honestly do not recommend this hotel as your first option. We stayed at this hotel for one night and we will never consider this place again. Employees were so inconsiderate and rude. My uncle had his watch stolen and three of our family members were charged more than once for their stay and were not allowed to stay an extra day supposedly because they had not paid when we cleary had the proof. Do not get fooled by the pictures because it is definitely not what it seems. My sister stayed at Super 8 which is down the street and was given excellent service. So we ended up prolonging our stay in Cottonwood but will be staying at Super 8 for the rest of our stay. read more

The continental breakfast was actually pretty good with an assortment of cereals, yogurts, bagels, eggs, etc. Nothing in the immediate area but Starbucks, Dutch bros, and many other options down the road. So this place is decent looking enough for a cheap place, but we had issues. Hot tub didn't work. Pool gate locked so we had to walk through the rocks to the other gate. Front desk went to room and then came back saying she didn't smell anything... we closed out without discount. The last time I stayed here a waterpipe burst, and we didn't have water for a day. They never once said anything to us about it or if they would be compensating us for having to stay in a uninhabitable environmen. When I first found out about it he lack of water at 7:15am, they said they were trying to figure out what to do, when I came back that evening thinking that they still didn't have a plan to repair the waterpipe the general manager tells me in a ude sparky tone that "the water will be off for the next 2 hours and we'll see from there." When I asked if there was a plan to repair it all she could say was ,once again in a snarky sarcastic tone, "What? A plan for the next unexpected thing to come along?" At that point I said never mind & walked out! The housekeepers will interrupt your breakfast to ask if you'll be out of the room that day because they HAVE to "clean" the room that day. And the breakfast attendant will rip the spoon out of your hand as you're serving yourself breakfast to insist on serving you your food. Also, the staff expect you, the guest, to tell them when you see running water leaking onto the parking lot, even though housekeeping should have seen it way before you, the guest, sees it. On a positive note when the equipment for breakfast is working it is quite tasty, but that is not enough for me to EVER want to stay here again! read more

I think this is a great hotel! The lobby is very welcoming and the staff is very nice. It is a little weird that the rooms aren't attached to the lobby but that's the layout. I would recommend staying here. The room was clean and smelled amazing. The rooms are up to date in design as well. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the free breakfast. We went to breakfast around 7am and there was nothing there but oatmeal and nutritional bars. Oh and some yogurt and as well as a small selection of fruit. I got myself some orange juice from the machine and it was more water than anything. Other than the breakfast, I would stay here again. Love the staff!! read more

The room was clean and the bed was plenty comfortable. The sofa was not usable because the pull out bed was broken and wouldn't go all the way down making the seat cushions lean forward. We were disappointed however that there was in fact no bar or restaurant on site (it looks like the space is for lease) and even though it was in the 90's while we were there (4/9 - 4/10) the pool was closed. read more

This property was just what we needed for our stay. The beds were comfy, and the location was a five minute drive to local restaurants. Plenty of parking was definitely a plus and only a 20 min drive into sedona. The breakfast was not all that but for free breakfast at least it was something to grab and go. While other hotels in Cottonwood that had reservations for a softball tournament that got cancelled at the last minute, waived fees, Lux Verde kept it, saying there was "nothing they could do." That is a lie, but seems to be their mantra. The tournament was rescheduled and they were "willing to charge us the same rate", but nothing better, even with $750 already in their hands. They of course are making business decisions, but as a consumer, I'd warn to avoid them all together. They don't care. read more

Update on my November 7th review. When I returned home, I realized that I left a laptop charger in my room that I had to leave because of the possible electrical fire contributed to their heater. I phoned the desk, and they agreed to look for the charger. I received a call a few days later from a clerk, stating they found the charger. They asked for my credit card information so that they could mail it back to me. I explained my complaints from my visit, and I asked a manager if, as a favor to me, they would take care of mailing the charger back to my home one state away. I was told no, and the manager tried turning all of the hotel problems back on me. I won't go into all of that. My point is that the charger was only a few ounces, and for a minimal cost they could have rescued a failing opinion of their hotel.
