We stayed here for 2 days to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. This resort is a hidden gem. The King Rooms have plenty of seating, a large jetted tub, a small refrigerator, and a fireplace and a patio. The only issue where the pillows, they were flat & standard size for a King Bed. if you're driving bring your own pillows. We also ate at the restaurant twice another hit jam. The Poco Diablo Resort in Sedona, Arizona, hardly has the image of the Riverhouse on the Deschutes in Bend, Oregon, or the Hilton on San Francisco Street in Santa Fe, New Mexico. In the past fifteen years, I have stayed at all three. What they have in common is their scraping by respect for guests, particularly if the accommodations are suited for a child and a pet, a kennel room if you will. Eighteen years ago, I began to raise a grandchild from birth. The child later received a dog. One or the other, the combination or singular appearance of one at a hotel principally diminishes the location and quality of a room. In the case of the child at the Hilton, it was an underground dark hole; I reminisced about my college philosophy class: "Allegory of the Cave." The Riverhouse on the Deschutes has something in common with Poco Diablo: if you have a dog, the farther out the resort becomes, the less respite for the lodgers, low-quality dark rooms, and assuredly older toilets, showers, and sinks. A Poco Diablo toilet is a squat seat from an era when hotels minimized space more than they do today. A hotel room is meant for sleeping, as well as the functions of an old military phrase, "shit, shower, shave." If one upsets the other, the remainder of the primary four are not recreating well. When you have a kennel room, you will likely have to walk a long way to what may be called the resort. At Poco Diablo, I drove to the front. When I checked in, the hotel clerk asked, " Did you bring your dog?" I should have barked in return. I went to check the bar and restaurant. I sat at the bar. I ordered a very bruised martini with Beef Eaters. The bartender poured from an almost empty bottle; he made two shots with a little remaining in the fifth. I thought he could have dumped the rest of the gin into the shaker, but he did not. It told me that they pour to the end of what may be standing liquor that should have been tossed. Beef Eaters, as well as many alcohol products, do not stand well after being opened; liquor will pick up other smells after being opened. It tasted in the martini. I ordered an appetizer, Firecrackers Shrimp Wrap. I love appetizers. There was not enough shrimp. The menu indicated siracha sauce and pickled pepper salsa wrapped in Bibb lettuce. Those are invented descriptions for a crema con sal and pico de gallo, with the Bibb standing in for a tortilla. The crema was diluted from the wet salsa. It made the Bibb lettuce stupid. The entire construction was pointless and thrown together. I love pico de gallo; the liquids are for flavor, not to become the basis of the freshness of the constituent parts Update from two years ago. I still remember the bad gin. read more

We had a lovely time a Poco Diablo. Made reservations through a third party Price L.... could have done better making reservations direct with hotel. When we arrived at Poco, we upgraded to a King room close to the lobby with a balcony, a view and 2 sinks. Our view was not of red rock mountains as much, but we did have a beautiful view of the serenity lawns which I believe used to be a golf course. Very peaceful. I'm soooooo glad we upgraded because we sat on our balcony several times a day and enjoyed the view. Having separate sinks was really nice also. The hotel is not fancy, but it is super convenient and had all of the amenities that we needed. Had a wonderful breakfast at the restaurant on site. We ordered Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon and Lemon Ricotta Pancakes with fresh blueberry glaze. Our breakfast was probably the best one that we had the entire trip. Sooo delicious. Make sure you go!!! Yummy. Would highly recommend the restaurant! Great food, view and service. We got there rather early around 8 AM and had a place to ourselves. We sat on the outdoor patio and enjoyed a beautiful morning. Breakfast is not complementary, but definitely worth the price. We used the gym facilities everyday. The cross trainer machine was great for cardio, clean and well maintained. They provide towels. The jacuzzi outside wasn't hot enough for my liking so I passed. Bummer. That's the only area of the hotel that could be nicer-pool and jacuzzi. Kinda looked tired in general. Could use an update. The best part about Poco Diablo is the location. It's super easy to hop on the shuttle for $1 and make it to the downtown tourist section of Sedona. There were other shuttles also available that were free, but they only ran Thursday through Sunday and we were there mid week, so we were not able to use them. The shuttle conveniently comes to the Poco Diablo parking lot adjacent to the lobby. Super convenient. Someone from the resort texted my cell phone and asked if we needed anything. They checked up on us daily and if we had any questions at all, which I did several times throughout our stay, I could just text them. Each time, they would text me a response within 5 min. I found this much more convenient than using the hotel phone and calling the front desk. I really liked the option to text. I have not experienced that before at a hotel. read more

We have been coming to Sedona for over 10 years but this is our first stay at Poco Diablo Resort and we loved it. You cannot imagine how beautiful the resort is from the pictures or the website. Nestled in a peaceful quiet part of Sedona, with gorgeous red rock formations all around. Lovely views and easy access to anything you want with trailheads all around. It's simply breathtaking. Our room was large very clean and peaceful. We had everything that we needed. The staff here were amazing . Our room was facing the Serenity Lawn and it was amazing to wake to these beautiful views. It was my first time in Sedona so I had no reference as far as accommodations in the area. I chose the Poco Diablo Resort because it was renovated or refreshed and was the only reasonably priced large full service hotel with golf, tennis, and spa facilities. Every place of interest in Uptown Sedona and West Sedona is within only a 10 minute drive from the Poco Diablo Resort. The Tlaquepaque Arts & Shopping Village is only 2 traffic circles away! I suspect, though, during high season and weekends, heavy traffic into town would significantly increase that drive time. Poco Diablo Resort is located what was once the Doodlebug Ranch on 18 acres and surrounded by stunning mountainous red rocks which provide a picturesque view from the property. The serenity park in the center of the resort is absolutely beautiful. I had a spacious 2-double bed room on the 2nd floor with a balcony facing the serenity park and located close to the lobby. The bathroom was also very spacious with a vanity, toilet and sink. In addition, there is a second full vanity outside of the bathroom which came in very handy. The resort has a full service restaurant, Willow Kitchen, with both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is fairly decent although a bit pricey. The bar is fully stocked and offer some interesting wines. The staff from the restaurant, the front desk, to housekeeping were all friendly and very helpful to make the stay quite enjoyable. This "resort" has definitely lived a few lives. Stains on the carpet, worn bedding, and cracks/repaints covering the ceilings. The staff was friendly enough, but they did not tell us about the "special way of opening the doors" until we went to the front desk and explained the door wouldn't open easily on the second or third day. The pictures definitely show a new and bright area. Online it even talks about a renovation, but that did not happen in the actual rooms. Furthermore, the tv did not work for our entire stay. We were gone most of the day, and at night we watched shows on my computer...if the people when we had gone to the desk to ask questions might have been a little more helpful, we might have said something...but it just didn't seem like something that we wanted to take back up to the front desk. We wouldn't stay here again...it definitely does not have a "resort" feel. The rooms sit on two floors and ours faced the parking lot like a motel. read more

Not bad for the money but the pictures on their website is quite deceiving as my expectations were higher as I've been to five star resorts. It was clean and towel and trash pick daily pickup was nice. The beds and pillows were comfortable. The carpet was a drawback. I think the rooms could use a new carpet. A restaurant is onsite but I feel the breakfast menu was over priced. We had dinner onsite one night and it was amazing and the service was great. Good location, it's right off the road towards town. Restaurant prices are a tad on the high-side for me so we ate off-property. Jet tub in the bath was nice. I'm as big as an NFL player (6' 2" & 250lbs) and the tub was plenty big enough for me. Other reviewers complained of the noise, stained carpets, broken fixtures, we experienced none of that. It is a solid 3-Star property and we will return. read more

This was a quick last minute trip, but the room and facilities were great. We relaxed by the pool before heading out to dinner. My only regrets was that I didn't get to visit the Spa this trip. Our stay at Poco Diablo Resort was overall a good experience. The front desk manager Phillip was very easy to work with and helped when we made a mistake through a 3rd party app. He allowed us to enjoy our stay. The room was nice, although my wife did comment that the bed was a little firm but the housekeeping provided us with extra pillows and blankets in a timely manner. The resort as a whole was nice a little aged but a very nice view from our room and tentative staff made us not too concerned with small damages and cracks around the property. The only negative thing I would say is the TV was not a smart tv and they had no streaming service options so when we wanted to watch a late night movie we were forced to watch what was on TV. read more

Taylor and Tigger were our favorite employees :) . Spent hours out by the fires lounging with our wine while admiring the breathtaking views. Be sure to book a premium king on the top floor. That way you get the bigger room with a fireplace and balcony, as well as vaulted ceilings. We had a special treat on Thursday night with stargazing in the parking lot with professional grade equipment. Honestly can not say enough about this resort and I don't understand the bad reviews.... The staff at this hotel couldn't be more kind, warm and welcoming. I arrived quite late, had questions at 9 pm one night, and checked out early - every time, I was greeted and helped immediately, patiently, and kindly. Both bartenders were VERY FUN, incredibly sweet, and will go out of their way to make sure you have what you need and have a great conversation, if you're open to it! I wanted to love this place. The up-charge for a jetted bath tub is not worth it. The EV chargers are locked and you have to go to the front desk to get them to turn them on; they forgot one night which meant going down the road the next morning. We found a creepy staff guy trying to get in our room with a do not disturb sign on the door. Alejandro should no longer be allowed to have keys to peoples rooms. The fireplace looks like it was purchased at a garage sale and had no ventilation. It was also small and just lame. The front staff is also just rude and condescending. William was staffing the front when we checked in and it was like receiving a lecture instead of a greeting. He even explained how magnetic cards work and how we needed to keep them away from our phones. As you can see by the pictures, the roaches are real. I have been to hundreds of hotels in the last 25 years for work and vacation. This is the first time i have seen roaches in a room. We told the front desk and they didn't even blink. No apology, just an ignorant statement, "well it is hot outside." The implication being every who lives in hot climates share their homes with diseased infestations of cockroaches. He did ask if we wanted them to come spray. Because spraying organophosphates is obviously what people would want when staying in a small room. This place has a lot of potential, but is being managed by fools. The romantic outdoor fireplace was beautiful, but it closes at 10pm. It is also contaminated by flood lights and some rocket surgeon placed a dog feces receptacle 10 feet away. I am simply baffled by the way this place sabotages every nice part if it. The restaurant is amazing, clean, well managed and a great value. I wont be coming back here and would never recommend anyone stay here due to the bugs, and crappy service. read more

Had a pleasant stay at Poco Diablo. Check-in was easy. The room was not bad but overall the rooms are very old and outdated. The fireplace in the room was a bit scary to operate and it required us to call maintenance for help. The big jacuzzi tub in the room was nice but the jets did not work at all. Every time we turned them on they shot water out at the wall. The bed was comfortable and it was clean. Would stay here again but also there are so many places to stay, it would be nice to explore others. read more

2 stars is quite generous. Upon arrival the staff was prompt in checking us in and service was fine. Got to our room and YUCK. So we expected a dog friendly room and that comes with its own hurdles and corks. But what in the world is that smell???? We have a very much alive dog and the room (427) smells like a dead one unfortunately. EVERYTHING is embedded with horrific pet odor. We will unfortunately be taking that smell home..... I even brought the febreze from my car and have been attempting to mask the smell. No amenities in the room- I'm talking no microwave dated. Fridge yes, coffee maker (wouldn't trust it in maintenance or cleanliness). Ice maker right next to us - does not operate at all. Old golf course - pretty view. Nice to let my dog walk and play a bit on. Restaurant- eh. Service is slow, food is mid, pricey as heck. Wi-Fi?? Oh good luck. Lol. read more

I mean, c'mon...the moment driving in, I felt like I was transported to CARS-LAND and I was in a disney pixar movie. WOW. It was so magical. The red rock mountains. The blue skies with fake lookin clouds. The green lush land. The perfectly newly paved roads. The round abouts. The jeeps. Sedona is such a vibe. Not to mention, coming in May, the weather was perfect. Low 80's, Sunny. Just a dream. This resort stole our hearts because of how dog friendly they are. If you love dogs, we love you. period. Only CON was that when we went the DOG MENU was not offered, I will say that bummed me just a smidge. Anywho, I want to shout out TANYA whom booked our reservation. She was the most friendliest, helpful just an ANGEL!!! Thank you TANYA, you made our honeymoon so magical, and we truly appreciated the room upgrade, the sweet chocolate strawberries with the card. Ah, my heart. We are very thankful for the entire staff including William. He was an incredible concierge for our itinerary. Our week was jam packed with fun activities and we loved it. Save your money. The room could have been a standard Motel 6. The carpet was crunchy and needed replacement 10 years ago. As others have said, for the price it was appalling. The thin walls made me have to suffer through hearing sex in another room all night long. Then banging on the door at midnight from another unhappy guest. OMG! Have u ever seen crime scene photos? Well they may have very well been taken here-- Honestly, normally I would have left. But I was coming to relax for 2 days after an intense work assignment. My family was also supposed to come up for a couple days... So imagine my surprise when I checked in headed to my room and found the following nightmare! First off, there were Roaches running all over the grounds and all the way down all walkways to my room! Did I mention I'm scared to death of bugs! Then I get to my room about 10 PM and guess what! The keys don't work. Wonderful, so now I have to drive back to front lobby en route I run into Oh "Bill" a nice man, Maint. Dept , he lets me know that the Hotel hasn't been updated since the 60's....say what! Ok, I finally get in after having to drive back to office so they can fix my keys( totally annoyed by this point) I return to my room, I open it, and the smell that overtook me I wanted to barf! The place looked disgusting, dirty just nasty AF! If I weren't so freaking tired I would have left right away. Please see attached pic! I am definitely calling my Bank and requesting a reversal of charges. This is totally unacceptable, un- sanitary and not worth 300$ a night give me a break! Everyone isn't a fool! I don't like to make a fuss but after killing multiple of these roaches in our room, I requested the resorts immediate attention to this matter and was left with no help. I believe it's essential to address this situation promptly to ensure the health and satisfaction of your guests. No refund or compensation was even offered for the added anxiety. Surprisingly, they claim it is a 4 star resort. I wouldn't give it a two stars. I would expect in a resort a friendly staff and good services more than "just" clean rooms. They had the most passive reception I have ever encountered in a touristic area. I visited during thanksgiving weekend and they were not helpful in answering simple questions about the area around, the place of shuttles and schedule . They literally implied this is not their job and we should search the place and time of the shuttles on the internet . You would expect those maps/schedules to be printed and available upon request. I wouldn't recommend paying this much for a below average "resort"! read more

The website is a little deceptive. We did not get the room we expected, it was a bit run down, drywall chips and cracks. Bed was comfy but pillows were awful. Good hot water. Clean. Do you expect to have HOT water, maintained surroundings, and pleasant customer service when you spend money for a stay at a "resort"? Do you expect to that when a mistake is made by the hotel or staff, and communicated to management, that a resolution to correct the issue will be made? Do you expect to be shown dignity and respect when you ask for hot water, agreed upon services and amenities, or that the property not have old food, wine bottles, glasses, etc. stacked in corners of the property or on top of a/c units throughout the property? WELL, that's simply too much to ask for from Poco Diablo. The staff, management, and leadership need a MAJOR overhaul and training. They are capitalizing on the beautiful natural surroundings as they treat their paying guests and event parties as a nuisance and an unwanted inconvenience. There are MANY other places you can stay in Sedona. I would recommend staying elsewhere. read more

Had a great stay at Poco Diablo. They are very dog friendly which is awesome because it was just me and my little dog, Skylar. As soon as we arrived, they had a doggy bag for him filled with treats & goodies! The grounds are beautiful and there's a lot of nice lush landscaping, so it is a pleasure to go walking, especially in the morning and early evening time. They also have a great restaurant right at the resort called TC's bar and grill! The food was good and the service was very friendly. I especially loved getting served by Javier, Rob, Leora and Mario! Overall, this isn't the most luxurious place where you can stay, but it's definitely a nice one. read more

First time staying at this resort & I loved it. Check in was a smooth process & the front desk guy was super nice. The lobby was beautiful. My room was the king size room, and it was HUGE. However, I didn't like that the room was detached from the lobby and I had to drive to and from. But it does come with a mini fridge. No microwave tho. The restaurant & bar is where it's at! It's beautiful & the staff is amazing. Charles was my bartender last night, and let me tell you, one of the most friendliest people I've ever met. He's drinks are amazing too. Won't return. Although the lobby, restaurant, and grounds are clean and beautiful, the room and the pool/hot rub were filthy. The mattress cover was ripped and the zipper did not work, which caused the mattress cover to move around all night. Also the pillows were horrible. It was like sleeping on pancakes. The pool area was out of towels, and there was a family at the pool with a large boom box, playing loud music, drinking alcohol, smoking cigarettes, and pot and not paying a bit of attention to their kids who were taking up the entire hot tub all night. Meanwhile most places don't allow kids in hot tubs. The most disgusting thing was in the pool which was pure filth. Every time I moved my hands, they got hair stuck in them. Don't you clean or filter your pool? There were two stoned men laying on the stairs who we had to work our way around when we got in and out of the pool, even though we didn't stay long. We couldn't walk barefoot in the room because the carpet was worn and filthy. The staff was so nice though and especially the room service staff who got our breakfast to us quickly snd it was good. Also the shuttle service to uptown was fantastic and easy to use. Sadly we won't return because it was our first family experience in sedonna and you have lots of competition so there won't be a reason for us to stay in filth and have a "trashy"" experience in the pool area.
