Great Motel, Great View, Great Town. My Family and Dog throughly enjoyed our stay here and its well off the street so minimal traffic noise and the View name is certainly appropriate. Would definitely return and Highly recommend especially if you have a pet. All the other motels are right on the very busy 89A which is very noisy early in the morning.

My friends and I booked one night at the View Motel as a stopover between the Grand Canyon and Jerome. It was an affordably priced motel with decent reviews so we thought we'd give it a shot. As the name suggests, the View Motel is perched up a steep hill that provides a sweeping view of the surrounding Verde Valley. The reception staff was very friendly and the cleanliness of the room was met with satisfaction from our party. However if you are used to staying at a typical chain motel, you will have to adjust your roominess expectations. This classic mid-century motel comes with the typical small 1950's room dimensions. With two beds and four people moving about in the room, you do feel a tad bit cramped. And as much as I dig retro buildings in general, some of the "vintage" charm of some of the room fixtures was quite annoying: the chain door lock came out from the wall; the shower faucet handle was loose and the toilet water pressure/plumbing was very weak. Not recommend for those planning spending a lot of time in your motel room but it is a decent place to just spend the night after a busy day of being outside: it's clean and affordable with no frills.

Quaint, quiet, and retro charm. This motel was built by Fred Ball(brother of Lucille Ball). The motel is older however they have maintained, and kept clean, the cozy rooms. The grounds are well kept. The pool and hot tub are kept heated. There is a large grassy area for kids to run around and they are currently looking for playground equipment to expand the kids play. They have large decks at the ends of the buildings for a comfortable night/ day of looking at the views. In addition, there are multiple BBQ grills available for the guests use. You can hang out on a deck and BBQ some dinner with friends. There are certain rooms with a connecting door between so you can go between rooms without going outside- if you want the joined rooms it needs to be requested at the time of reservation. There is plenty of parking available, even for pickups towing a trailer or moving trucks. They also have a small area for dog bathroom breaks(no cats allowed). The front office has coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for free. They also have juice, muffins and danish rolls for minimum price. This motel does include shampoo, conditioner, face soap, makeup remover wipes and face lotion- more than other hotels. I love the charm of this place. At night, when all the landscaping lights are on it reminds me of the grounds from the movie Dirty Dancing. This is definitely a place to stay if you don't want the same ole generic and plain stay you get with most major chains. This place is unique and proud to maintain quality.

you cant beat the view from the pool!

When I saw the John Wayne suite, I knew my wife, a huge fan of the Duke, just needed to stay there! I booked it for our wedding anniversary and what a great choice that was!!! Karen was so sweet, she introduced herself and went above and beyond in making sure our stay was delightful. The room was much bigger than anticipated, and we really enjoyed the hardwood floors. We had easy access to the balcony, with great views of Main Street and were within walking distance to so many fun shops and restaurants. We had a lovely stay, and would definitely book the John Wayne Suite again.

They give you a door code to get into the room hallway and another code for your room door...how cool is that? We had the "wine" themed room.it was like a small studio apartment with a small electric fireplace. The room also had a fridge, a microwave and a coffee pot with the normal pods, creamers and sugars. At the end of the hallway there was a super cool balcony overlooking Main St. at night we sat out and listened to the band play at Kactus Kate's. Small bathroom was super clean with lots of towels. Overall this was a great stay. Super convenient at a competitive price.

Walked upstairs to our room and the handle is broken... with sharpie written on the door "lift up to open". Walked into a HOT room to see that the bathroom sink is part of the bedroom. Unloaded and laid on the bed and almost bounced off. Spring mattress that has to either be 12 years old or the cheapest mattress money can buy. The head of the mattress also sinks lower than the foot. So you'll have a headache in the morning from high blood pressure all night. The bathroom door drags the floor. So either the floor is swelling from moisture or they have 10 layers of flooring on top of each other and didn't trim the door. Either way, you have to grab the door with both hands and push it open and closed. My kids wouldn't be able to open it by themselves. You can see the previous occupants also had trouble, upon arrival we noticed there was a hole on the wall where they opened the door too hard and the knob hit the wall and made a hole. The shower tub looks like it's ceramic or porcelain like a normal tub. But when you get in and standing under the shower you'll feel soft spots as if you're about to fall through the floor. The air conditioner was on high cool all night and still left us sweating. The threshold to the bathroom is also coming apart. It appears that their last attempt to super glue it didn't do too well with the swelling floors. To add to it, we ordered food. After it arrived we called the front to ask for water bottles or see if they had a little snack bar to purchase from. No. Nothing. No water in the room upon arrival. Nothing at the front. So we went across the street to Frys and got water. Returned to find police surrounding the hotel building closest to the office. Yes. Same hotel, just a closer section to the street/office. Guns drawn, 2 at the top, 1 at the bottom. They have a sign at the front desk that says they are rated top hotel by Hotels.com. I'm not sure who got paid for that sign but I now know not to use Hotel.com for a basis of good quality reviews and feedback. Man.... we are Just ready to go to bed and wake up for this all to be over with. Woke up and was going to make coffee. Well.... I think I'll pass after looking inside the coffee maker water reservoir. With all things considered, I'll be glad to get home and wash this hotel off of me. I'd hate to see the sheets under a black light and mattress outside the sheets.

We had a wonderful experience, but what truly stood out was the staff's kindness after we left. My husband accidentally left his laundry bag behind, and Rosa, the cleaning lady, immediately notified her manager, Marcy Martinez. Marcy took time out of her busy day to personally drop the bag off at USPS and have it shipped back to us, all while we were already nine hours away in California. That level of care is rare and deeply appreciated. Rosa, Marcy, Kim, and Tory at the front desk were all incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional throughout our stay. I couldn't sleep the entire night due to scratching. So I checked the floor with my hand and it was dirty. This means the room hadn't been swept. The beds weren't made well. It seemed the sheets hadn't been changed at all. Then I saw a small bug crawling in my bed on the 2nd nite. I asked to be given another room the 2nd morning. Flea bites are incredibly painful with burning and unstoppable itching for at least 72 hours. I put on alcohol and took an antihistamine but I couldn't stop scratching my swollen hand and fingers. The front staff and manager were gaslighting me the whole time. They had absolutely no compassion bc I had complained about the room which they decided to translate as rude. What was rude was their unprofessional way of dealing with repeat customers who realized they had just slept on a bed full of fleas from who knows where carrying who knows what. I've been traveling for the past year visiting motels, hotels, and air Bnb's and have had a wonderful time everywhere. I even had a decent time when I was there the month before for 3 days. I hope this one awful experience doesn't happen to anyone else which is why I'm posting my one and only negative review, something I prefer not to do. The manager and front desk woman were colluding to make it look like it was my fault or that I was making it up that the floor was dirty and that I had gotten bit even though I showed them my hands. I had to spend a couple of hours doing laundry to be sure fleas weren't lingering on a day that I had many errands to do and when exhausted from not sleeping well due to the scratching. I got nothing done the whole day but the laundry. The sour faced woman at front desk stirred up trouble at every turn making it look like I was to blame for their negligence. She got the manager to join in. Really stupid duo. This is so not the way to treat an exhausted guest who had to deal with flea bites at the ineptitude of their own staff. It might be that Cottonwood, AZ is not a great place to stay in general. Though the restaurant is very good, I do not recommend to book a hotel that puts people without their consent into rooms where animals with fleas can sleep on the beds and, then refuse to recognize the negligence of their staff. Honestly, I don't know which is worse, the flea bites, lost night of sleep, loss of a day of activity, or the hostility and gaslighting from the staff. I was so happy to leave.
