This review is for Brenna at Luxe. She is a hair wizard and artist. She 'gets' hair. I came in asking for the impossible: thick short brown hair in a blunt bob - but could you make me blonde (while preserving my hair integrity), oh and while you're there, can you make it long? I'm thrilled with the result. My hair color is buttery pale blonde and my extensions are blended so well - not through lengthy disguising with a curler - but with a really great layered cut. And while transformations like this aren't cheap, Brenna was very reasonable with her prices. She's straight forward and will tell you realistically what can and can't be achieved and she really prides herself in her art. read more

I woke up super excited this morning. Today was going to be the day! No more feeling frumpy and awkward and terrible with my Gary-Bussey-on a-bender hair in my new everyday wardrobe of track pants and grandma's tennis shoes. Damn it, I'd at least feel cute going to physical therapy in those shoes from now on. My hair was finally long enough for a "girly" short cut after being forcibly pixie'd after a couple months in the hospital after a serious accident. The salon had been highly recommended for both cut and color by a girl I met with at PT with super cute short hair. Their work online was lovely and very feminine. I brought my example photo and high hopes. I was so ready to start feeling pretty again. And instead, it's going to be several more long months of avoiding both my hair and all the scars in the mirror. Conflicted about how many stars to give. My haircut today was really awful but everyone was lovely and tried to make it right once it was clear the stylist was in over her head. The owner even got involved and did the best she could with what was left on my head as well as make the experience a teachable moment for the young woman who originally cut my hair. Her professionalism doing both was remarkable. So five stars for that. Unfortunately, after a good cry and a hot shower, the haircut is still pretty awful. And awfully short. I came in for a cut and it was a great experience. I had to schedule a bit last minute and they were really accommodating. I had hair passed my waist, so I'm not an easy customer to begin with. They made me feel really at home, the salon is really cute and they offer beverages. I had Brenna, and I can not speak highly of her enough. It's the best cut I've ever had hands down. She also really helped consult about how to cut and style it, as I was really unsure of what I wanted. Whitney did a fantastic job with my balayage! I was looking for someone who could do a great job at a fair price and she nailed it! I have very thick hair and warned her that it may take longer than another client. She assured me she could do it in the time allotted and she stuck to her word! The boutique is about a 35 min drive from my house but she has gained my future business and I will make the drive. She even does a mini photo shoot after and will send him the pics. She is a fun and creative stylist and I enjoyed the time we spent. I love my hair! It's been a definite upgrade and her skills are wonderful! I had a haircut and color with Andrea who is a balayage QUEEN and had a wonderful experience. I am truly a difficult customer and often feel unsatisfied with my experiences at hair salons. I have very fine and thin hair that is very porous and I find that most people don't know how to work with. Andrea is the exception to the rule! Service: Brazilian Blowout Stylist: Whitney I am sad to say this was a total waist of time and money. I have been getting Brazilian Blowouts for 8 years and this is the worst one I've ever had. It did nothing for my hair. I had explained to stylist that I need 24 passes in my hair for the braz to take, yet she only did 12. My hair is now super crimpy after the service. It's almost worse than when I went in this morning. I'm so upset since it was a waist of 2.5 hours and $330. Now I have to go get it redone. Disappointing. read more

I had an appointment with Cary to style my hair and do my makeup on my wedding day. I also had a trial run appointment with her the previous Saturday. I was so excited after the trial run and feeling completely at ease because she did exactly what I asked for on my hair, and even did a run through of makeup for free and everything looked great. The day of my wedding was a different story. I showed up with my friend at 11:55 for my 12 noon appointment and Cary was in the middle of washing someone's hair. At noon she had just started blowing them out. At 5 after noon I confirmed with her that my appointment was at noon and stated that I HAD to be out of there by 1pm. She dismissed me saying that she would be finished in about 5 minutes. We did not start on my hair until 20 after. I will say that my hair turned out exactly as I wanted it to...just LATE. We then started on my makeup. I was not uncomfortable because I liked what she did the week before, but I got a horrible awakening when I looked in the mirror after she was finished. In her defense, I didn't speak up while in the salon, because I was too upset, but I did say numerous times that I wasn't one to ever wear a lot of make up. When I looked in the mirror I had this thick, shiny, goopy, what I guess would be stage foundation all over my face and my eyelashes were so over-mascaraed and clumped together that I looked like a clown. I immediately burst into tears when I got to the car. My hair did turn out exactly as I had hoped, so I would wholeheartedly recommend her for that, but I would suggest making your appointment for 30 minutes earlier than you actually need it because she un-apologetically caused me to be late for my wedding, and I would have been late even if I hadn't had to wash my face and re-do my makeup once arriving at the venue. read more

The salon is gorgeous; the stylishly designed furnishings, the adorable clothing and accessories (I never leave without something I love), and the chic and friendly staff all make this salon the best in this area. I was disappointed to receive unprofessional service from Baleria. She did not cater to the request that was initially made and agreed upon on her behalf or recognize that the outcome was not up to par. There were many undermining statements also made in her responses after I realized the lack of delivery of the service. I would like to speak with the owner in more detail but she has has not responded with any urgency to my communication. If you're a college student, don't go here. And I'm not even saying that because of the price. Not super welcoming salon and they definitely treat you like a kid. I did A LOT of research to find this salon because I wanted something very specific. I had Whitney do my hair (Extensions and hair color). She's one of those people who like to call themselves "straight up" when in all reality she is just rude. She was rude to my mom, rude to my friend and also rude to me. The only reason why I got my extensions done with her is because I really wanted them before my vacation. By rude I mean, every time I would try to have conversation with her she would either have to one-up me or shut down what I would be saying. Over the DUMBEST things. Not to mention she also talked so much shit about her clients. I don't know if she doesn't like college girls or younger clients but she was very difficult to work with. Since I had already booked an appointment ahead of time to get highlights, I decided to go through with it and give her another chance but again, rude. And she also did my hair and it looked the exact same after she was done coloring it so it was pointless and a waste of time. My extensions were also so thin and it was clear I needed more but she just wanted my money. If you go to this salon, don't go to her. read more

She really listens to you and does what you ask her to. Ellie gets 5 stars plus! I only gave 4 stars because I felt like the space is too small for all the stylists and activity going on. I personally felt cramped. However, they try to make you feel at home with a glass of wine or water when you come in the door. I just moved to the area and was highly recommended this salon and Ellie by one of my college best friends. Unfortunately, it was one of the worst experiences I had ever had. I was scheduled a trim with Ellie that was originally scheduled for Friday. She asked if we could reschedule for Saturday morning and I said that was fine. I told her I had allergies, had no fever and was not contagious and she complained that I came in sick. She made it clear not to come in again sick and said I had a "legit cough", mind you my cough was just a normal cough and I did it like twice the entire time I was there. She didn't make any small talk with me or try to get to know me at all. We were in complete silence and she only talked to me to complain my hair was uneven in length and point out other flaws with my hair. I get my hairs not perfect but I think there are nicer ways to phrase what you are trying to say. When she asked about my bangs I offered to show her a picture I saved and she completely shut that down and said no I don't want to see it. Then when I told her other people I've seen usually do front layers where the side bangs ( they are long side bangs) blend into them she said that was the dumbest thing she'd ever heard. Again, I think there are nicer ways she could have responded to that comment. She was the RUDEST person that has ever cut my hair. I'd rather drive down to Milk and Honey where there staff is actually NICE and welcoming. read more

I followed Veronica to this new boutique salon and am absolutely thrilled. In my opinion, it is the best salon in the Lakeway & Bee Cave area. You feel pampered the moment you step into the bright & beautiful decor. The quality of the surroundings is only surpassed by the talent of the stylists and spa specialists.
