I recommend management to train and or eliminate waitstaff that does not pay attention to customer service. The shift has been somewhat positive from the last 6 years. I had dinner here I had to wait forever for staff, they were not busy. I was ignored and then overcharged and saw on my statement a 20% tip! it is rare I do not tip. Her service was so poor I did not leave a tip. I like the food . IF I go back I will never have that person wait on me. Luxe has a good thing -consistent food , a change in staff(new bartender) . Management PAY attention. It is a good locals hangout . We went to Luxe after Winter Nights at the Edsel & Eleanor Ford home, as my niece wanted to go there. I'd been wanting to try the one in Birmingham but never made it, so this was fine. It was a night when the Lions were playing some important game, so the service was a little slow. The server apologized & my nephew said the chef was probably watching the game. The server said, "He'd better not be!" Sure enough after the game was over, the food came out. Lol. It was ok, we weren't in a hurry & three out of the 5 of us were watching the game, so they were happy. I had the mushroom burger. It was good, and I ate the whole thing. My only real complaint is that the burgers don't come with anything, so, for $16, it seemed expensive. My nephew did order fries ($7!) and I had a few. They weren't anything special. But, my nieces's Italian wedding soup & her salad looked good. And one of our friends had the rib dinner, which came with both sweet potato fries & regular fries. I was glad when a friend suggested we go to Luxe for lunch. I had not been there in a while. I was so happy to see their menu has not changed. I ordered my favorite Brussels sprout salad with salmon. It was just as good as it ever was. I ordered the sushi grade salmon medium rare and it was perfect. I suggested the lamb chops to my friend and he ordered them medium rare and said they were fantastic. Our waiter was very attentive, we started with a glass of their house red wine and told him we were going to have a long lunch. He gave us plenty of time to finally place our order. I'm shocked by the amount of positive reviews on here. Our food was really disgusting, our sweet potato fries were super burnt, the wings were entirely flavorless. The music was obnoxious and it was pitch black in there. Only giving two stars instead of one because the ribs were cooked really well, and our server was nice, although he smelled like he'd been drinking. It is surprising how few places are open in Grosse Pointe on a Sunday afternoon, but we managed to find Luxe today and were grateful for it. Warmly welcomed, we sat at the bar for drinks and a meal. My friend ordered an Old Fashioned and I decided to follow. Our bartender made them to order and they were perfect and delicious. Nicely mixed, nicely garnished and perfect ice cubes. For main, I chose the chicken wings. Quite meaty and not drenched in sauce, they had a reasonable amount of "heat" and the small pot of bleu cheese actually had bleu cheese crumbles sprinkled on top. Nothing seemed to be working out well today to put in or order here. The first woman said she couldn't hear me well and told me to call back and abruptly hung up on me. The second woman that answered had to ask someone about every add on and modification request made, i.e. making the BVBs into the luxe or mushroom burger. They told me that they were busy and it would be a half hour wait for food. BTW this was now my 4th choice for the night tonight and I was starving by now. I put in for a carry out order for the following: Handcut fries, Sweet potato fries, 1 mushroom burger, well done with a well done fried egg on it, 1 BVB mushroom burger, 1 B2B luxe burger, Chopped salad with no bacon, added grilled chicken and a mustard vinaigrette slaw. The food was done in about 25 minutes and was ready when we returned to pick it up. We got a side of sriracha. Total was $73.14. The slaw was okay. The mushroom burger with the egg was so-so, the fried egg was very runny and over easy, luckily most of the yolk ended up on the bottom of the to go container. My parents liked their BVB on mushroom and the luxe burger well enough, although my mom would have liked the cheese on her luxe, especially when I never asked for it to be without cheese when I ordered it. The sweet potato fries weren't bad. My chopped salad would have been better if I didn't have to pick out all of the bacon I had asked to not be on my salad since I don't eat pork. :/ I think key for the person taking the food order is to maybe step out of the entryway or wherever loud space they are in and can't hear so well and read back an order as well to the customer to make doubly sure you don't mess up the order so abominably. read more

I am so happy to have a Luxe so close to me! My boyfriend and I frequented the Birmingham location quite a bit. However, we were absolutely blown away with our recent visit to this location in Grosse Pointe. It's so much more open than the one in Birmingham, which is a huge bonus because didn't feel so claustrophobic and like we were eating with the couple next to us. We were greeted immediately and service was prompt and friendly from then on out. Our waitress was AMAZING. I wish I knew her name because she was on top of everything. She wasn't pushy, yet still kept us on top of refills. My boyfriend opted for his go-to, the mahi and shrimp gumbo. Portion is huge and was delivered with two garlic bread slices. It's definitely spicy and flavorful, but not to the point where your eyes are watering. He left with a meal or two to go. I usually rotate between the grilled cheese and tomato soup or the veggie burger with sweet potato fries. During this visit I had the veggie burger and fries. The fries are an additional charge ($5) but well worth it to split between a couple of family. The multi grain bun is always so good. I'm not the burger fan, but for some reason I always order the veggie burger from here. For good reason because it's probably the best burger I've ever had. Ingredients are always fresh. For a soda, bowl of soup ($6, which we shared. Huge portion), and two meals the total was around $50. It's definitely on the pricier side for a meal for two. Went there for lunch with a group of women last week. Quite disappointed. The waitress said we couldn't have separate checks which we always had had before. We asked to talk to a manager and it took about 1/2 to get our question answered. We did get separate checks. The food was ok; nothing over-whelming. First time to this Luxe location and there was no comparison to our Birmingham, MI, patron appreciation. Perhaps it was because it was a holiday and perhaps our server didn't want to be there. She was borderline rude when taking our order, no "Hello" or "How are you folks doing today?" We asked for two orders of the Brussel Sprout salad, one with a different type of dressing, no onions, and the dressing on the side. When the food was brought out, mine had the dressing on it and I mentioned to the waitstaff (not our server), that I planned to take some of it home and didn't want a lot of dressing that's why I ordered it on the side. He stated that there was "NO" indication of dressing on the side. I told him to just take it off my bill as the salad was swimming in dressing and just looked unappetizing. A few minutes later our server reappeared and curtly told us she "Just wanted to be sure she knew what had happened." I explained, she offered to redo the salad and I told her it wasn't necessary, and she told me that the "dressing on the side" had been on her order to the kitchen. NEVER an apology from either of them, she clearly was miffed. They could argue between them all they want, but it wasn't my problem. Shared a few bites of hubby's salad and it was just doused in dressing, and just poured on, not even tossed so the dressing was evenly distributed. She reappeared with the bill, all huffy, barking instructions to us. Worst service I've had in a very long time. Won't be back for sure, we will stick to Birmingham location. read more

Walking by, this didn't look like your typical brunch or breakfast place, so we were pleasantly surprised by the breakfast menu. My husband got the luxe skillet, which he promptly devoured - he just wishes that there was a bigger menu to choose from. I got the broken yolk sandwich, which was a great, greasy bacon and egg sandwich that hit just the right spots. The potatoes that came with the sandwich were perfectly fried, and they were the star of the show. If anything, this place is improving with time! I had Reuben and onion rings, wife had fried chicken, daughter had nachos. All were excellent. Reuben was good and will make two more meals at home. Fried chicken and mashed potatoes were juicy and crispy. My daughter's complaint about the nachos was "there's too much stuff." Onion rings were crispy and meaty - these are hard to get right. Everything was tasty and in generous portions! Not cheap but not at all expensive: more than fairly priced. My Beefeater martini was built to spec and just $7!
