Everything the owner has a terrible attitude constantly changes the rules of the gym. The hours are never consistent and often closes too early. The membership is overpriced for the equipment and state of the gym. In general there are much better options for a similar price do not go there. The staff is also incredibly rude and will often make you feel uncomfortable when you are working out close to closing hours or just in general. An absurd amount of rules for people who take lifting weights seriously, and then they selectively enforce them. No chalk, no filming, no squatting or deadlifting in socks, no making noise with the weights (they let most people just not some people). I love luxe! I've been going to this gym for the summer, and they had a great offer of $99 for 3 months. The staff and members are all friendly, and the equipment is great! My only complaint would be that there isn't a lot of free space to spread out. I love doing circuits with dumbbells, which is a little bit difficult in this gym since there isn't too much space. But overall loved my experience here, and definitely recommend it! read more

Yes, this non-luxurious gym gets another 1 Star. I would give it a zero if that were available. Please see my previous review for context. So, this morning I am in the gym for only about 30 to 40 minutes. Then I go to the Women's Locker Room. After being in the Women's Locker Room for about five minutes, in walks the 'Devil Manager", Melissa. Immediately, she starts to yell and scream at me. It made me very nervous because it took me off guard. Then she yelled something about me saying something to another W-Female Member (which was a lie). I and that other W-Female Member were the only two in the Women's Locker Room, but I did not say anything to her at all. In fact, I have never, ever said anything to her. As I made several attempts to talk racist Melissa was uninterested in hearing me, and continued to yell lies about me. She would not listen to me because I am a African-American Female whom she deemed unimportant. She kept telling me to, "Shut-up and not to talk". I tried to think of positive words to get her attention to listen to me. I said, "Melissa I am a peaceful person." But she continued to yell and scream. And then when the other W-Female Member continued to talk and make false accusations against me Melissa listened to her, yet when I tried to talk Melissa, the racist devil, yelled even louder. She gave me $20 and told me not to come back to the gym. March 1st would have been my last day anyway, but I did not deserve this unprofessional, maltreatment. Other information about the gym is it absolutely is NOT luxury. The equipment is old, dirty, and the cup holds on the Tread Mills are growing bacteria. In the Women's Locker Room the showers are glass and you can see others while they shower. That is an invasion of privacy. You should not be able to see other people's body in the shower. There is also a plumbing issue because when you flush the toilets please run out really quick or else you will get splattered in the face with toilet water.... read more

Every summer vacation I come back to this Luxe Fitness! The staff, equipment, daycare, hours and locker room exceed my expectations each summer. Melissa, Ashley, Sean, Cam, and Kim at the front desk always greeted me with a smile and said goodbye with a smile, too! ! As simple that sounds many gyms don't even do that anymore!!! I'm a long term and fairly satisfied member who uses the gym 2 or 3 times a week as it is close to home. That said, I found the owner very defensive when I made suggestions to him. Interestingly, when I visited my sweethearts $10 a month (vs. $35 a mo.) Planet Fitness, and admittedly more crowded gym, the staff seemed friendlier and willing to show people how to use equipment without having to pay an instructor. read more

I am a 71 year old Senior and just joined in November. This club is perfect for my needs. There are many grey hairs in there which makes me feel comfortable. Highly recommended for Seniors and Blue Chip for Medicare pays 100% of the membership fee. read more

"We are only looking for a certain demographic" was the first words every spoken to me in the gym. Now i will leave interpretation of these words up to each person whom reads this but none can bode well.This statement was made by the manager , who not surprisingly is the owners sister and no doubt the reason for her position because it it certainly not her personality. Management came off extremely rude and I felt bothersome to them atleast. Yes the gym is clean,yes the equipment is adequate. Day passes are $15 dollars which is ridiculous for a treadmill park. If you buy a punch pass only one person can use the passes which makes no sense. The guy at the front desk was very nice about it to his credit, but I won't patronize this place again. It's definitely something aimed at an older crowd. read more

Walked in, was barely greeted. Asked about daily/weekly passes as I am visiting for vacation. Desk rep was curt, informed me a day pass is $15, or $39 for the week. Great, I'm only here for a few days, don't mind paying for a pass. When I asked if they had free weights I was told they did but only if I had a local ID. WTF? I've never heard of such an absurd policy. As a competitive powerlifter I think I know my way around a weight room... Seriously though, what is the purpose of this ridiculous policy? The desk rep then impatiently repeated the prices for a day/week pass. I declined and left. Will not be back, nor will I recommend this gym to any friends or family in the area. read more

Not impressed! The staff does not greet you or the owner himself. The spin bikes are so rusty it's so hard to spin on them. Over priced and not worth it. Spin instructors don't really give you that high energy level while working out. Not impressed by this gym at all! Will never buy another package here again! read more

Dirty, smelly, hot and humid. If you like to sit in other peoples sweat this place is for you. Even the cloths used to wipe the machines are dirty!! The management is milking this place for all it's worth...they barely turn on the a/c in the summer, slow to fix anything broken, be it machines, soap dispensers or the faucet. I enjoy this gym a lot and sometimes find myself there twice a day out of boredom! The equipment is clean and the staff does a nice job trying to run around and clean equipment throughout their shift as some patrons just don't seem to care (not the gym's fault). The one problem I would note is there always seems to be one or two treadmills out of order, one has been out of order for months now...... How about just replacing it? The staff is great and greets me with a 'good morning' every time I walk in. I am a big fan of this gym. read more

Going down hill fast. I've been a member for several years and this gym is nasty. It used to be clean, but the management stopped cleaning and it shows. The locker room is disgusting. The mens room urinal has been out of order for years, so the only other urinal is the handicapped one that is just above the floor. That means that the back splatter of urine is all over the floors (and your shoes). Add to that a nice layer of pubic hair that never gets cleaned and...you get the picture. That is the gunk that is getting dragged out to the gym on everyone's shoes--thanks Luxe! It is obvious that the management never has any professional cleaning of the bathrooms. You can tell from the layer of scum on the countertops and the disgusting mold growing on the caulking at the sink--no way these sinks have seen any cleaner in years. The floor in the shower area is coated with a nice white paste of soap scum. Oh, and to add to all this, there is no exhaust fan in the men's locker room. Imagine trying to concentrate on your workout and walking into the locker room for a quick second and being knocked over by the odor of old men showering, Irish Spring, and fresh feces. A simple fan could really help here, but that must be too much "luxury" for a gym called Luxe. Instead they put in a cheap dehumidifier that doesn't do anything to keep the stench at bay. But the disappointment doesn't end there.... The blue mats where everyone stretches have been there for at least a decade and you can tell because the velcro on the sides is trapped full of hair, bugs, and dirt. Nothing like trying to focus on stretching your muscles and seeing the grime from someone from 5 years ago that didn't get cleaned up. Feels like....Luxe. These need to be replaced, but that won't happen anytime soon. Most of the rubber grips on the machine and stationary equipment are starting to fail (or are just completely gone!) and this leaves your hands clogged with a nasty adhesive or gripping whatever grime was on someone else's hands when they last cleaned--which again should be somewhere around 2013 or earlier. What this place needs is some fresh air, but sadly that won't happen either since there is a layer of dust all over the vents and ventilation system. Don't believe me? Take a look at the white ceiling fans and see the BLACK layer of dirt on the edges--that is the Luxury that Luxe wants us to breathe. It is clear that the air filters have likely never been changed in this facility and you can tell from the film of dust over everything. Sadly, most of this stuff could be fixed in one thorough professional cleaning session (along with new mats and grips), but the owner must not want to chip in for that, and it shows. read more

Luxe Fitness is hands down the most overpriced gym in RI. For one level medium sized gym with nothing but free wieghts, a few machines, and some cardio machines, the owner of this business charges 50 DOLLARS A MONTH!! This is ridiculous when there are places like Health Tracks or Gold's or LA Fitness with saunas, pool, basketball courts, separate rooms and floors, etc that charge usually no more than 25-30 dollars per month. Would highly recommend NOTTTT waisting your time and money going to Luxe Fitness. read more

I have been a faithful member of Luxe for the past 5.5 years. Always clean, reliable, awesome yoga and muscle sculpt group classes. I called to suspend my membership for 2 months since I am relocating but was told a) my membership would not be suspended without a medical note b) I would be charged an entire month because 30 days notice is required before canceling and c) my membership fee would be significantly increased if I returned. So much for loyalty to long time customers. Extremely disappointed, will be looking for a new gym unfortunately. read more

If I could give zero stars I would. Very disappointed and unhappy with my experience here. As someone who used to work in a gym and a local business owner, I find the customer service and management here at Luxe to be not only sub-par, but juvenile and unprofessional. Really my issue is with the manager Melissa, but as the person at the front and the person in charge of customer service...her poor ethic reflects on the entire establishment. She was rude and disrespectful from day one, and on the first day there she actually said "we have high prices here because we are only looking for a certain demographic for our membership"...and they've demonstrated that they mean it! She hung up on both my fiancé and I when we called to discuss an issue and refused to give the owner's contact info when asked for it. I've never encountered such self indulgent, juvenile, or unprofessional behavior from management at any establishment before. After the issue in question, I am still paying for my membership until my contract runs out but will never step another foot into there. I'd rather run outside in the pouring rain. If you are looking for a good local gym, I would recommend Riverbend, the YMCA, or Anytime Fitness. This gym is extremely overpriced and the environment is negative. read more

I have been going to Luxe since they opened in the South County Commons. I have to say that they have the best and most up to date equipment and are always open to suggestions. The staff is knowledgeable and very friendly and the classes and instructors are great. This place is always clean and the staff is around keeping the place spotless. I would recommend Luxe Fitness to anyone looking for an affordable facility that has many fitness options to choose from. read more
