PF is the cheapest fitness option, by far, in South County. If you can afford to pay more at a more expensive option, you should do it. Pros: plenty of aerobic and weight-lifting equipment. Convenient location. Extensive hours Negatives: 1. equipment is always out of service. Last week, 1 of the 2 hand dryers in men's locker room, 1 of 2 urinals, 3 of 5 upright bikes, 1 of 4 stair masters all out of service. And the repairs literally take WEEKS before the equipment is returned to operation 2. the place is PACKED. You occassionally can't get a treadmill or eliptical without waiting and forget about jumping on an empty stair master. Locker room is usually in need of a 'refresh' and sometimes there is no hot water for taking a shower. (In the staff's defense, there is never a time when the locker room can be 'shut down' to be cleaned.) read more

This is the worst planet fitness in the whole entire state I'd even argue all of New England. In the winter it's over crowded with uri students who sit on their phone on a machine for thirty minutes at a time. In the summer it's riddled with old summer folks who move at the speed of molasses like they don't have a day job to get to. If you go right when they open have fun in a hot steamy gross room cause they don't properly air the place during night. The people working the desk are less than friendly. Lately they don't even supply paper towel to wipe down with. Walk into the locker rooms? Have fun getting smacked in the face with hot air and dookie stank. And last but def not least they literally have rules on the wall "no spaghetti straps" but what do we have? A whole bunch of young ho3s walking around in their skimpy shorts and sport bras just so desperate and dying for attention. This place was worth the money the first one or two years of being open but now it's just miserable from the time you go in to the time you leave. I honestly couldn't be paid to come anymore. This planet fitness is the worst I have ever been to. Four spin bikes and two are broken. So I to.d the desk and they just ignored me. Rules not followed no management to be found . Stay away from here and possibly all planet fitness locations. They have peaked and are on there way out of busines. read more

The place needs a deep clean, using a swiffer duster is useless. Machines are filthy and smell. Lots of out of order and worn machines. Staff stands at desk when they could be out on the floor enforcing their own rules. read more

I'm surprised to read the negative reviews. I go between this location and the one in North Kingstown. The workers are more friendly here. All and all, for $25/month, I really can't complain. read more

I travel to the east coast often and glad I have a Planet Fitness nearby to where I stay in Rhode Island. My P.F. In Las Vegas is a little bit larger but so glad the staff here is just as nice and they keep their gym neat, organized and super clean ! They have a dedicated cleaning person and she was extremely thorough. Very kind and considerate as well. Before I used the massage chair and after she had cleaned it, she asked if I would like her to wipe it down again before I used it. So sweet ! Then before I used the Hybrid tanning room, she again cleaned and wiped down everything before I walked in. Everyone at the gym seems to be replacing their weights and considerate of others by cleaning before and after use of the gym equipment. Looking forward to my workout later today... Aloha read more

I already had low expectations regarding this place due to the negative press of this franchise. They have a reputation for being weird about the dress code. I read stories about pregnant women being asked to leave because their belly showed a bit under their shirt, or fit women wearing sports bras intimidating the other gym members. I thought I would be OK because I dress conservatively and was fully covered. One day I wore a stretch denim pant with a t-shirt and jacket over it because I'm always cold inside. I've worn it numerous times before - it was never an issue. One day I was suddenly told I couldn't wear it - specifically the demin pant. I didn't make a scene. I said OK, and immediately canceled my membership and never returned. No explanation was given to me as to why they would have an issue with it. It's a pair of pants. I was fully clothed. No explanation whatsoever. As I previously stated, I was already aware this franchise with super weird about people's clothing. The only reason I joined this gym was because the membership here is the cheapest. But the dress code wasn't the only reason I had quit. It was the last straw. If you're a woman trying to lift weights, get ready to wait a long time to even have access to the weights. There aren't enough 5lb - 8lb weights to go around. In fact, they only have one set of each - so if someone is using them, get ready to wait a while. It's also very crowded. The Wakefield branch in particular has this weird knack for randomly blocking off the inside doors (there's a set of doors that lead directly into The Wakefield Mall). Again, no explanation provided - sometimes the doors are open, and sometimes they aren't - they just randomly block the doors so that if you wanted to go to the mall (like Panera) to get a bite to eat after the workout, you now have to walk outside, in the cold, instead of just going through the entrance like any normal person. read more

The fitness center is very clean. There are plenty of machines, and there is no stress about working out here. I highly recommend the aqua therapy machine after a workout. The price of membership is in three tiers, and membership is quite affordable. read more

There are two TRX straps that are not functioning properly. The velcro has worn away due to usage on the foot cradles and no longer holds. This has been brought to the attention of the employee at the gym on several occasions across a few months' time now. This employee refused to provide the manager's name or availability when asked for it in order to discuss the malfunction of the TRX straps - stating "I can't give you her name or her availability". This employee will not even turn around to face me in a discussion and has stood with there wrapped in blanket behind the counter with her back to me stating "that is not how velcro works" without even giving an opportunity to describe the issue. I am not trying to debate the functionality of Velcro. I am trying to report a piece of equipment to management that is not properly working. read more

I'm giving two stars because the place is clean and if you go in the morning it's not that busy. I must be the only person who tried to use the 30 minute express room as directed by moving from machine to machine in order along with the changing red/green light so as to complete the circuit in 30 minutes. As the gym became more popular, more and more people started to use the space for reps on one or two machines in no order, totally oblivious to the rules of the room. I would go around people or skip machines people were parked on, but if they were sitting on their phones on the machine I was supposed to go to next I would ask them politely to move. People often responded rudely or as though they had no idea what I was talking about. The last straw was when one man refused to move because I was interrupting his sets, even though he claimed to understand the rules of the room. He just didn't care. I tried to get an attendant to advocate for their own rules, and they clearly didn't want to deal with monitoring the room or telling anyone how it was supposed to work. I get it: not enough staff, too little pay, who needs the aggravation? But essentially this means you can't use the 30 minute express room as directed and it's just part of the regular gym. So if you want a fast circuit workout designed for that purpose, go somewhere else. read more
