So I decided to give ISIS a try and let me tell you, OMG THIS COMPANY IS AWESOME. I went to their website and I couldn't see a listing of cars for Playa Del Carmen, so I sent them a message. EDGAR, messaged me back and gave me a listing of cars and the cost and what it included. I needed a car for 4 days. I sent several messages he responded back, no issues. I decided to book with this company due to Edgar's excellent communication. No hassle, no hidden fees, no issues what so ever. Edgar dropped off the car, had me sign the contract and stated that the deposit would be refunded. His cow-worker came back to pick up the car (didn't ask to see paperwork), and a few days later, my deposit was refunded. VERY EASY TO COMMUNICATE, HASSEL FREE and No issues what so ever. We were in Yucatan for 2 weeks. We rented a car from Easy Way's office in Merida for the last 8 days of our trip, returning the car in Cancun. Before our trip I made the reservation online - all the fees and various insurance options are clearly shown in US dollars and they were always quick to reply to emails. I used my credit card for the CDW/LDW without problem (many companies will not allow you to do this, instead requiring you to purchase their insurance, that often comes with a deductible) I had originally asked for the car to be delivered at our hotel on a Sunday so we would be able to leave early Monday morning and head to Chichen Itza. After arriving in Merida I realized that their office was 1/2 block form our hotel. I went in and asked if I could just pick up the car early Monday morning and save a day's rental charge - No problem! The process to get the car took about 20 minutes of paperwork and then going over any pre-existing damage, showing me the spare tire and jack, and that the car had 1/2 tank of gas and to return with the same amount. The only hitch was they didn't have the exact car I reserved but gave me something similar that was actually a little less expensive. Had no issues with the car. We filled up in Merida, Valladolid, and Tulum - no problems getting gas. Attendants were always sure to show us that the pumps were set to zero and gave us correct change. Only interaction with a police officer was when we accidentally took a wrong turn in Tulum - the police officer directing traffic saw our error and was nice enough to stop the other traffic so we could get turned around and go the right way. Returning the car in Cancun was quick and easy -they even drove us to the airport Overall, a very positive experience and I would certainly recommend Easy Way to anyone looking for a car rental while in Yucatan

Went back the following day and was told they open 9am. The employee that helped me was a male that obviously hated his job. When I returned the car, he made me pay for fees that weren't mine. When I questioned it, he got on his cell phone as if he were calling the police. I had no choice to pay it since I am a female traveling alone in Mexico. He was very rude and intimidating. The easy way to find it is to look for the Royal Park Hotel. You'll find Ernesto's located directly across the street from the hotel. There are several things I really like about Ernesto's. First of all it has the lowest of prices for motor scooter or other vehicle rentals. Then, their prices include liability insurance which most of the other places load on to you on top of their higher prices. Also, the scooters I have rented from them have always been in good operating condition and always topped off with gasoline. The staff at Ernesto's also knows everything there is to know about the island, finding your way around, and more than happy to advise you on anything having to do with Cozumel.

I had to ask to find out that the National counter would be handling Thrifty customers. THAT was a long line, mostly because they were understaffed. I had to wait in 2 lines to get my car. They leave the keys in the vehicle. I was sent to spot number 14 and as I got there the vehicle in it was being driven away. Back in line I went to wait for them to assign me another vehicle. Staff were helpful and friendly, but the manager needs to tighten up this operation to prevent customer aggravation.

As you exit the building turn left and follow the sidewalk and you will see Thrifty (and Dollar Rental) across from the small airport. We have rented several times from this location during various trips to Cozumel and have never had any problems. Tips: It is cheaper to rent two cars than one minivan (if you have two drivers available). You must get the insurance in Mexico. The insurance will cost you more than the rental. Probably why the rental prices are so low. My recommendation is to get the full coverage! Our last rental was a Volkswagon Vento. $340 US for one week. Perfect for four adults and all our luggage. Tight squeeze to get to our rental condo but perfect for everyday outings. Gas - all the gas stations are owned by the same person so no need to shop around. Also, the stations are full-service so sit back and relax. You must tip the attendant.
