Rentadora Golondrina - Copy of our receipt that clearly says only gas required. He also told us no cc but the bottom says only cc.

Was scammed by this car rental place. Rented a car from "ET" aka Eric Torres who is apparently…read moreaffiliated with this rental car place, he sits at the 5ta avenida & embarcadero a Cozumel Playa del Carmen Centro 77713 Playa del Carmen, QROO Mexico in the Paseo Del Carmen Shopping Mall across from Miniso store. He has a booth outside in the walk way right in front of Miniso! He offers tourist attractions and sold us the rental car through Rentadora Golondrina. We ride the ferry all the way to Cozumel, walk to the rental place, just to find out they don't even have the car we rented, and mind you it's getting late in the evening, and the rental is by day so they said they would have to go get the car we rented, I was not happy because at that point we would only have the car for 2 hours but we were going to do it until they presented us a contract in all SPANISH. About liability, damage, etc to the vehicle. We don't speak nor read Spanish, that's when I opened my phone to look the place up and seen the reviews, to which my surprise nothing but scam experiences, so we kindly declined asked for a refund and left. This has been almost a month ago and they have yet to refund me for goods and services I did not receive. Beware, don't do business with "ET" aka Eric Torres, or this establishment you will be scammed.

TOTAL SCAMMERS!!! We rented a car from a 5th Avenue vendor named Hector. When arriving at the…read morerental shop in Cozumel we were told we had to pay an additional $ 25 tax.... IN CASH!!! When we questioned Hector by phone back in Playa Del Carmen he wasn't of any help and told us we had purchased additional insurance which we had not. The rental agency in Cozumel actually had the nerve to falsify our original contract, crossed out that we had refused additional insurance and forged our name that we had purchased it thus accounting for the additional $25. WE NEVER AGREED TO THIS AND THEY KNOW IT. The BOTTOM LINE... Don't go to this agency and do your homework before renting in Cozumel! They are total scammers!

Rentadora Golondrina - This is what Carlos called a 'buggy'. We saw plenty of other vehicles that would have been considered a buggy but this was a car w/no top.

I would recommend looking elsewhere if you're looking to rent a vehicle…read more The Jeep we was dirty on the inside and did not appear disinfected between uses. The radio didn't turn on. The horn didn't work. Only the right turn signal worked. There were multiple warning lights lit up on the dashboard. It is simple enough to fill out the paperwork for a rental, however the contract is in Spanish only. The person renting the vehicle offered insurance plans and checked the gas level. You are responsible for refilling the vehicle to the level that it was at upon returning it. I believe the total cost of the rental was $120 USD. They also provide a map that outlines some tourist destinations, one location in particular that is "off-road." Not having access to a Jeep at home, we decided that it would be fun to go down the off road section which was a dirt road with mud puddles and deep gulleys. The Jeep became muddy, but was not damaged. As we were pulling into the parking lot, we were receiving horrible looks from the staff at the rental company which I assume was due to the mud on the vehicle. We added a full tank of gasoline to the vehicle before returning it (keep in mind we received it at 3/4). The company, who I assumed should be washing the vehicles between customers, charged us a $20 fee to "tip the guy who washes it" which was never part of the rental agreement.
