DAYNE!!! My secret to all compliments I get after going in for a haircut or gloss or toner. He is the best. I don't even tell him what to do at this point I just show up and let him work his magic. Me, both my sisters, my best friend and mom all see him after he did my sister's hair one time and will never go to anyone else as long as we are lucky enough to have him in LA! Luxelab was a great experience for me. front desk team was so nice. David cut my hair, did a quick but thoughtful consult, checked comfort levels on length/shape/etc., and then went straight into the cut and style. Whole thing was about an hour. David was a great conversationalist and also explained what he was doing and why whenever I asked. The salon is a teaching salon, so his assistant was learning and she handled the wash. Phenomenal head massage btw, and the shampoo (Oribe? I forgot to ask) smelled incredible. Context: I walked in with a shoulder-length bob and self-cut bangs (picture curly Lord Farquaad) and the only brief I gave him was "cool" plus a few things I didn't like. He took note, fully went for it, and landed on a 70's/80's punk-rock vibe. I left looking and feeling genuinely cool. Billy has been my hair colorist for the last few years, and I'm thrilled with his attention to detail, high standards, and good sense. After the COVID lockdown, my longtime former salon went out of business. So a friend who was Billy's longtime client recommended him, and I'm so glad I took her suggestion! Billy makes me look great, and he uses a dye that is more gentle than my previous hair colorist used. As a resident physician, I don't have a lot of time to spend on my hair, but for my upcoming wedding, I really had a vision of having a beautiful blonde balayage! I had already recently gone to another hair salon in Brentwood, but they ruined my hair so much that I was embarrassed, and honestly a little bit anxious about What I would look like my most special day... Then one of my co-resident suggested Luxelab, a salon that she's been going to since she went to undergraduate school here and then through medical school and I knew that with my limited free time, I need it to go to a place that I could trust. The first moment that I met Coco, I knew that she would be able to help save my hair! The way that she triaged the damage that my hair was in was so professional, and she did an amazing job giving me the hair that I have always wanted! A whopping 6.5 hours later (with multiple naps from myself and a grueling arm workout by coco!), my hair was saved, and it was beautiful! I might be a doctor in real life, but I have dubbed Coco, my hair doctor!! She sent me home with a prescription for my hair, including these hair products, and has even followed up with me the day prior to my wedding to see how my hair (and I!) were doing The salon itself was also so clean and smelled so good, and all of the staff were so kind! Of note, there is free parking!! I didn't realize that at first, and I had to keep running out to pay for street parking again Coco was so nice and said that she would help me move my car, but I didn't want her to have to worry about it, and that next time I come back, I will make sure to park in the free parking spot in the second floor! I got haircut by Orlando Ortega. This was my first time here so didn't know what to expect. I had suboptimal experiences before so I was happy that I found a spot with the owner last minute (which he noted someone cancelled last minute due to emergency). He meticulously worked on my hair for the highlights and he is a very affable personality. After the highlights, he asked me if I style my hair and I said I usually just air dry. So then he said we will air dry and I will show you how to style it using products. This is not something I am used to as every hair salon that I went to has always blow dried after coloring my hair to show the results. I ended up walking out with a wet hair not knowing how the highlights turned out after paying 700 dollars including tip which was by the way the most expensive highlight I received so far in my life so that was a bit disappointing. Besides that, he had an assistant which helped him work faster and he was teaching her but it was a bit awkward for me to be taught on and I didn't enjoy it. After a few hours, my hair dried and I can tell the hair looks ok. The salon is overall cute, many "creative" people with bunch of tattoos and stand out clothing walking around. I ended up buying the product he showed me but after a few hours, I noticed my hair hardened with it so I am not sure if I will use it. I was served wine and who doesn't love good wine while sitting for hours killing time. read more

I've been seeing Kate for a few years now, and I couldn't be happier with the results. She's a great listener and always takes the time to understand exactly what I want. I primarily go to her for a cut and gray blending, and she's always thorough and detail-oriented. She's open to discussing multiple options and care needs. My hair is quite long and fine and there is a deceptive amount of it- she absolutely never rushes through the process and makes sure everything is perfect. This last time, instead of the usual ashy blonde toner, Kate used a smokey indigo, and I've been getting a lot of compliments--notably-- even strangers at the grocery store or while walking my dog, have stopped me to say how great my hair looks. I literally haven't gone outside without someone commenting on it. It's the first time in a while that I've had such a noticeable change, and I love it. Kate is also very personable--she's easy to talk to, funny, and always professional. If you're looking for a stylist who listens and takes the time to deliver awesome results (especially if you're looking for someone who's absolute pro at color), I definitely recommend her.
