I have since moved to another state and just realized I never wrote my initial review so let me give an overall review of Luxia Nail Spa. I originally found Luxia nails because I wanted to find a new salon from the one I had been going to where I felt like I wasn't being heard with my requests. After reading multiple other Yelp reviews, I found Luxia (and let's be honest, no one place has mostly stellar reviews). I made an appointment without anyone in mind to see and I saw John and never looked back. Luxia is well lit and there are several TVs throughout the salon while a local radio station plays overhead. It's not too loud in the salon so you can have a conversation without yelling. After I knew that John was who I was going to see going forward, I wanted to make sure I could find someone else that would do a great job for my daughter's nails as she usually has more details and longer nails. She was paired with Mia and we have never been disappointed! Mia is phenomenal and meticulous! John and Mia are personable - they always ask how we are doing when they see us and engage us in conversation. John remembers things from our previous conversations and will talk about those things. If you ask for his opinion on colors, he tells you which color(s) looks better together. You can tell John and Mia take pride in their work. Went to this salon on a Thursday and got a gel manicure. Chipped the next day but really didn't think much about it bc it was really small. Next day all of my nails are lifting. I went to a wedding I didn't use my hands in a way to cause gel which should last 2-3 weeks to start peeling. I went to the salon to ask if they could simply fix the 3 nails was told I'd be charged because there policy was 4 days and I came on the 5th. I have work and don't have time to get my nails fixed at any given time. I wasn't even asking for a whole new set I wanted these 3 nails fixed. We received a warm and friendly greeting and was directed to our seats. We all had pedicures. I opted for the Hot Stone pedicure which was the same as the regular but with a hot stone foot massage. I found the pedicure very nice but nothing different from any other place I've been. I came for the 1st time a couple of months ago and was extremely impressed with how beautiful my nails came out! I absolutely loved them! However, they were extremely over priced! This place will nickel and dime you to death! I only returned cause I figured no way they can price gauge me on a pedicure...no broke nail, no gel polish, no gel or acrylic removal and I was right! They charged me as posted. My sister felt cheated as she was charged $12 for a corner of acrylic...wasn't even on the entire toe! It was just to repair a chipped piece from side of big toe. The staff were polite and helped me at the counter. They asked me to pick what type of manicure and pedicure. I got dip powder fingernails and gel polish on my toes. The pedicure I got was a hot stone pedicure. When they started up, they asked me if I would like a beverage. I asked if they were included, they said they were. I selected a mimosa. I think that's nice they give away mimosas while you're getting your nails done. I had one lady working on my hands and another lady working on my feet. I thought the process of dipping my fingers in the powder to color my nails was pretty awesome. It felt really relaxing, the whole thing. She finished up my manicure and that lady left. The pedicure lady started scrubbing my feet with a salt scrub. She then got out the hot stones and gave me a hot stone massage on my feet, calves and shins. When I got all done, the lady doing my pedicure helped me get my shoes on. She then walked me to the counter. She told me my total, which was $122 before the tip. I paid, and another woman opened the door for me to leave. I was very impressed by this place. It was so much nicer than the other salon I went to in goose creek. The interior design looked awesome. Still my #1 nail salon! They are going through renovations now, but are still open. Even with renovations going on, they still offer excellent service and the best mani-pedis! Absolutely love this Luxia location! The space is quite large and beautiful. They have two large areas with pedicure chairs, a full manicure bar and then a back area (what seemed like for private parties). There is a huge flower wall, near open windows, so you can get the perfect Mani shot with natural sunlight. They provide a lot of nail services, included gel and dip. Their color selection is endless. I had a hard time deciding what to get! I opted for the paraffin wax pedicure. Totally worth the little splurge. It came with a drink (I had the mimosa) and it was a nice bit of extra relaxation with pampering my feet. They were super smooth after. The staff is all so wonderful. I've never had a bad encounter. This place doesn't look very big at first glance but after you walk around you see how big it is. There is two big areas to the right with probably 10-12 chairs each, then the nail bar that can probably seat another 10-15 and a back room for a large group of probably 10 more chairs. They have a flower wall back there too if you need to get that perfect photo for the gram. Everything is white from the countertops to the walls, and chairs. It gives a very clean and modern aesthetic which is always welcome. I don't always get a pedicure, but when I do, I get the upgraded one so I can get the extra massage... it's the best part. I've only been here once but I had a great experience. As a guy, sometimes places will gloss over the service to hurry you along. I'm guessing some places assume I haven't had a pedi plenty of times before. It really bother me but not here. My tech gave me the full treatment and really worked the massage portion when I told her my calves were sore from the gym. The pedicure also came with the paraffin wax bags which I've had before. The heat is great (if you can stand it) and your feet feel amazing after. I highly recommend it. I decided to treat myself to a pedi and acyclic nails and the experience was bad. The lady who did my toes was sweet but I didn't like the nail tech Amy who did my nails. I asked for short almond with regular polish and her attitude changed. I felt like I was in a car sale getting thrown so many suggestion. When I noticed she over filed my pointer finger , she claimed it was fine. I asked the receptionist for her option but she laughs while the lady was talking to her and proceeded to tell me it was the way I looked at my finger. I got the hot paraffin experience... it wasn't as spectacular as I've had before. It was just okay. They are a bit pricey when you consider the end result. $49.50, seems a little pricey in the end. Don't get me wrong that leg massage; lotions and sculpting got my toes and legs feeling and looking smooth. Just thinking I should have stopped there and not added a nail color. The first guy who did my nails...was not trained enough! Let's just say that. Very nice guy so I felt so bad for complaining but If i am paying $52 for DIP, I need it done perfectly. RUN AS FAR AWAY AS POSSIBLE FROM THIS PLACE. I want to preface with saying that this is not a vengeful rant or post because I didn't like my shape or color. This post is to hopefully help and inform anyone who is considering going here about their work. I went in and asked for a pedicure and fill. Both went horribly. At the beginning of the pedicure,I tried to let the lady know the shape I was looking for (square, short) but she cut me off and told me she knew was she was doing. Which I respected but figured I needed to inform her in case. The lady who did my pedicure refused to cut my nails after I asked multiple times. It was really weird. She flat out refused and my nails were getting long. She then decided to cut down long ways down my nail removing almost the entire side of the nail more than half way to my cuticle. I panicked immediately as this hurt and also knowing a nail shouldn't be cut that way. She then did the same to the other nail big toe nail. I had to get a manager to me because things were getting bad, FAST. When the manager looked at what was done, you could see the urgency in her eyes and she started to question the lady during my pedicure why she had cut my nails that way and that it wasn't good. The lady doing my pedicure tried to shift blame on me saying I had acrylic on my toes. I looked at the manager and said no that's not true, but even if it were how does that make her cutting them down the side so deeply and so much okay? The manager offered me a $10 store credit to make this okay. Honestly, that alone was offensive but at that point I was just trying to get out of there. The lady doing my pedicure was upset and painted my nails super sloppy and there were specs of air and dust all over. I showed this to the manager and she said well that's why I gave you the $10. I told her I was deeply concerned about me getting an ingrown nail, the consequences of what's going to happen to my nails because of how they were cut and the polish was just the icing. She said if I had an ingrown to come back and they would fix it. Gave me an attitude when she charged me and I paid and left. Well the next morning after a painful evening from the pedicure BOTH of my big toe nails broke in half across the nail where the lady had cut down so much. I immediately freaked and took pictures. It was awful. I called the salon back to explain what happened and the new manager for that time stated that he was not sure why the manager would offer to fix my nails if they were to become ingrown because they were not allowed to do that. I told him that I needed a refund and that this is unacceptable. It's been less than 24 hours and my nails broke in half during my sleep. He said he would look into getting me a refund but didn't get back to me for a week and when I called back he said there was nothing he could do. The only thing he could do was try and fix the shape of my nails. Also my manicure is horribly done. They are chipped everywhere and the paint was extremely sloppy. Please do not waste your money coming here or your time. I promise you it is not worth it. I now have an ingrown nail and have a doctors appointment to have it looked at and removed. The $115 that I paid is now grown to even more because I now have to see a doctor. And that doesn't include my nail repair. JUST STAY AWAY FROM HERE. Whatever the response from the owner will be on this, please just don't. The second manager I spoke to after both of my big nails cracked in half and I had an ingrown said they brought this up to your attention and that you said there was nothing that could be done. read more

I just moved to Charleston from Atlanta and have been in need of a new nail spot. After searching instagram and yelp I decided on Luxia. They had 2-3 technicians that I thought I would like their work. I called and made an appointment with Logan for my nails and I was not disappointed. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 was my pedicure. I opted for one of the more expensive pedicures ($60) which is entirely too much for a pedicure and I was very disappointed in the service I received. I've paid $30 for better before. I got about a 10 min foot massage and a gel polish that wasn't applied well and chipped within 24 hours. The place was very nice and well decorated and I will be back to work with Logan again but I'll be finding a different spot for my pedicures from now on. read more
