The service is not the issue. The issue is Luxe is not honoring the value of the gift card as paid in full for services already purchased, in this case a mani-pedi that was bought for me as a gift last Christmas. I was asked to pay the difference between the prices which according to New Jersey law is not an accepted business practice. I fear that this has been happening to many unsuspecting customers as well. I will not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I came in to get a full UV Gel set and i saw Brian, he did an amazing job. He took his time, made sure the length and shape was what i wanted and my nails came out amazing! Also for those who are worried, they take Covid precautions very seriously and I felt completely safe the whole time. I came here for a gel manicure and eyebrow wax since my stylist recommended them and her nails always look fabulous. She also said they're the best because they're so clean, which is very true! When I came in, I was surprised how large the facility was. There were so many stations! I don't think I have ever seen such a large nail salon. So, I chose my color with a help from my technician (way too many colors to pick from!). She did my gel manicure within 30-40 minutes, fastest I have ever had my nails done. She was quick, efficient, and they looked amazing. If you pay cash, they give you a discount! When I got my eyebrow wax, again, she was fast and efficient -- when I checked them out, they looked amazing. Right then and there, I made an appointment for the following week for a spa pedi! This place is clearly good for gel manicures, that's what the majority of their clients come for. But that's it. If you are interested in SNS stay away. Ive given this place 3 chances. I've been getting SNS for many years and upon moving to this area I needed a new salon. They do not use the proper tools, they do not file and shape according to your nail, they do not last the 3-4 week time frame they are supposed to, and for the first time ever, my nail beds physically hurt after getting my nails done. There is also an unacceptably small amount of SNS colors to choose from compared to the giant 2 walls of colors they have for other manicure types. I took a trip out of state and visited my old nail lady, and in her professional opinion, they were the poorest quality SNS she's seen. SNS is a much newer and healthier way of manicuring and coloring your nails. I'm very disappointed, as nice as this salon is (hence the 2 stars) the quality of work they do with the LATEST technology/nail trends. read more

My friend referred me to this nail salon because my regular one the technician kept doing my nails too short and too thick but I really regret leaving my other place for here. $55 for uv gel fill in and literally three days after my nails started to chip and peel. I am so angry! I work in a professional setting and can not have my nails looking a mess. I also don't have the time to come every couple of days to fix the polish. The nail technician was rude to me when I explained to him that I DID have gel polish on my nails. He kept telling me it was regular polish. Half way through my nails another technician stepped in to finished my nails. She literally re-filed what he just did which was super irritating. I really don't think $55 is a reasonable price especially when the polish chips after a few days. Very unhappy with my service. read more

Enjoyed the pedicure that I paid $45 for. Wasn't impressed with how the cuticles were cut on both my hands and feet. I've never gotten a manicure without soaking my nails in water to push back and cut the cuticles. I had to ask that my cuticles be cut. I was not impressed whatsoever for this salon. This place is overpriced and underwhelming. I understand it takes time to get acrylic nails off but c'mon $15?! She kept drilling my nail in the same spot where it would burn me. Then she would file right on my skin. Burning me once again. Then on top of that they charge $15 for a BASIC manicure. Again, I'd understand it if this place actually provided quality service but no. The way they do my nails is really great. They pay attention and are thorough. The downside, which is a huge downside, is that the management (lady up at the front) is usually very off with the estimated wait times. I've been told "not long" "ten minutes" and get sat in a chair for 30 minutes before anyone even gets to me!? Not good for busy mom/wife with full time job who came to get nails done on her day off. I've only gone to Hannah and Amy and I love them. They don't rush and really take their time to do a good job. Even after 3 weeks my nails aren't chipping or peeling off. I get acrylic with gel. I have yet to walk out unhappy with their work and I don't think that would ever happen. Really happy with Hannah and Amy. The manicures are also nice. There is a complimentary massage and they use these mask gloves for the hands which are quite lovely. Haven't tried anything else but I see a lot of ppl going in for pedis. Very unprofessional management/owner. I went there to get a mani and pedi at 3 pm on a Tuesday and he said to me "right now!" As if I would come in person to make an appointment. Now this is not my first time at this establishment, so I know you can make appointments by calling. Once I chose a color and sat down, I had the tech doing my pedicure - I chose a spa pedicure that includes massage for 15 minutes and some pampering- was talking Spanish with a coworker who were both looking at me. I ask them " something wrong" and they responded "no" and continue speaking in Spanish. Usually with the pedicure they use gloves to remove the polish and callous, but when they get to the massage they remove the gloves. After my tech got to my massage, she kept the same gloves on! I looked around and all the other clients- who happens to be white, were happily getting their massage sans gloves! So this tells me it wasn't a new policy and that she just didn't want to touch me. I've had this type of pedicure done before and never had they wore gloves! Of course maybe because I went with my in-laws who are white. I then told her I no longer wanted the massage, knowing that you can get a regular pedicure with callous removed anytime. During check out the gentleman is arguing with me saying "what do you expect to pay!" I calmly told him I didn't get the massage and the pampering, I only received the callous removal service and a regular pedicure. He got mad and said "whatever charge her 49 dollars"- down from the 69 dollars. I paid it and he didn't inquire why I change the service in the middle of getting the pedicure. He just didn't care and appears as if he doesn't want my business because I'm not his preferred clientele. I won't be going back there and will gladly get my nails done elsewhere. Leaving this review so black people or biracial who identify/look black don't patronize this establishment. The owners are racists and some of the Spanish techs don't want to touch black people without gloves, and will gladly touch anybody else without. PS. I also cancelled the manicure because of how that whole 'don't want to touch her with my hands' experience . I'm still flabbergasted because she treated me like I was homeless and haven't showered in days!!!! read more

I got a lavender pedi with mariela and she took her time and made me feel so relAxed and well taken care of. I then got a fill in with Joe, he did a great job on my stiletto shaped nails and polished them fabulously, the massage he provided me with was also amazing. The salon itself is absolutely gorgeous, beautifully decorated, and most importantly CLEAN. Having ample is also a great bonus. I can't wait to return! Went on a Friday evening. Surprisingly it wasn't busy. They got started on my nails right away. Amy did a great job on my UV gel fill in. Loved that she works fast. I also got a pedicure. The woman who did my pedicure also did a fabulous job. The nail salon is very clean and everyone is very friendly. The downfall .... the UV gel fill was $55!!!! I have never left a review, let alone a negative one, on a business before but in this case I feel I have no choice. I had an appointment on Saturday for an SNS manicure, but I was clearly assigned to someone who had no idea how to do a powder gel. She buffed my nails incorrectly so they're rough and bumpy and used the power tool to cut my cuticles, which really hurt! My nails are now red and irritated and my cuticles look horrible. Also, I asked for a square shape, and my nails are actually the shape of blobs. $40 for this?! Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. read more

I was disappointed by my experience at Luxie, especially with the positive Yelp rating for it. I came here for a pedicure last week and the polish started to chip after only three days. I can't speak for the manicures but I wouldn't suggest coming here if they're anything like the pedicures. On a positive note, my feet are still soft and not too calloused (like they usually are) so I think the nail tech scrubbed my feet well. She also shaped my nails pretty well and wasn't too intrusive when cutting my cuticles. I was already pretty meh on the polish job though, so I was disappointed to see it chip so quickly. Despite this, what really influenced this negative review for me was the environment of the salon itself. I didn't like how the regular polish was behind all the gel polishes and in a dimly lit corner of the salon, dimmer than the rest of the salon which was dim to begin with. I usually pride a nail salon in its promptness, but I felt rushed and crowded. It was pretty loud in there for a nail salon and I got the impression that Luxie tries to get in as many clients as they can even if the job is mediocre (quantity over quality). I go to get my nails for a relaxing experience and that's not what I received at Luxie. I don't see myself ever returning here given my negative experience and the fact that there are other nail salons in the area that are cheaper and better. read more

This was our first visit to this salon. I had heard this was a nice place to bring kids so my daughter and I went for a pre- spring break mani/pedi. Well the woman did not put the plastic bag in tub before I sat. She was rough pushing my foot where she wanted it. Worst of all was the "upsell" almost making me agree to a $48 pedicure where she said she would spend 10 more minutes massaging my feet. I had to say no to it twice. The upsell pedicure is what I get at my regular salon for $20 so already the pedicure was less I could tell she cut corners and even skipped my back massage when she put me on the dryer. On top of that they charged me an extra $5 for my daughters nail design that the website says is included in a children's manicure. I also need to comment I had an appointment and they made me wait. It's a very busy salon and very large. Easy to slip on work I feel. read more

It was great and it's been YEARS since I've had my nails done -- I was pleasantly surprised. Let's stipulate that this is definitely in the "first world problems" category, but I consider this a coaching session for the business rather than some whiny, snotty rant. I agree with a couple other reviewers who said Luxie used to be great. I was new to the area in the summer of 2017 and stumbled on Luxie (mainly cuz it had great parking!). It was really an upgrade from my old salon--nice atmosphere, better massages during man/pedi, good technicians doing Fill-ins. But things have gone downhill. Here's the BAD news: --there has been a revolving door of the "front-of-store" staff ( the ones who do fill-ins) and a real lack of quality and consistency; I started with Esther (who disappeared) who was AWESOME, then Paula who was good(i think her name was Paula? All i know is she evaporated too) --since those departures I have mainly have had Hannah or Amy. Amy is TERRIBLE! My last French fill in was so nerve-wracking....she was in such a hurry, used the wrong gel with the wrong light, kept having to re-do a couple nails until she figured out the mismatch....the attached picture shows how the "white" of my French is uneven, my cuticles were rubbed raw and the finish is lumpy. Amy also had major problems checking me out at the register during my previous appt. She messed up the transaction, two others had to come over and assist while I stood there for 5 minutes and a line built behind me, no "sorry for the mixup", "thanks for waiting", no eye contact--nothing. --this is really a corollary to the last comment, but the "front-of-store" technicians are, at best, "customer-tolerant" and, at worst, rude. Smile, be gracious, acknowledge when you are keeping people waiting...you know, Customer Service 101. --appointments are really just approximations, I.e. you may have one but don't plan to sit your butt in a chair til approximately 15-25 minutes past your appt time. Here's the GOOD news: --the nice ladies in the "back-of-store" who mainly do the pedis are very nice, friendly and do a great job. The pedis seem to last, the service is good, clean with thorough massages. No complaints there. Other than you are probably gonna have to wait in line almost no matter when you come for a pedi. I am a good customer. I come regularly, I have 3 daughters who I often treat to services at Luxie. I have lots of friends who get these services. I am your target market. You should listen to me. But I'll be getting my nails done elsewhere. UPDATE: 9 days into this last disastrous visit with Amy, 2 of my recently filled-in nails came loose and popped off in the middle of my vacation.
