This was my first mani with Angie. She is awe-some!! I rush out of nail shops with things to do, places to go and well, sometimes you can't just sit for half an hour waiting for your nails to dry, ya know? And for the first time in my life, my nails didn't get messed up after I left! My regular mani (not shellac) was dry!! How?? She is so light handed, if that makes any sense, that I didn't feel man handled (like most places). I felt so comfortable in her space, sure it wasn't super modern, but it was welcoming, and so was she! I really love seeing people that still care about their craft. I didn't once feel like a number (ahem, like most places). Sure I work in Walnut Creek, but I'll be making the drive to see Angie! Parking is great and her price is low compared to the quality. Angi Lee is the owner and she is very good for the detail of pedicures. The shop is located off the min road and has easy parking. Service is by appointment only. This is a good place if your looking for individual attention. I don't have fake nails so can't speak to that service. It is nice to find a local well run and personal nail salon. read more

Angie is a sweet woman who has perfected the peticure. "I am expert!" she proclaims, and I agree. However, it will take about an hour for this expert peticure, and it will be done in an older model chair with a broken foot-spa. The "studio" is small and filled with Angie's silk flower creations and stacks of fashion and gossip magazines. The french manicure was pretty good but at one point she went to correct something and a huge drop of polish remover fell right onto my ring finger nail. Since I'd already been there for an hour and 20 minutes, I just hoped it would dry okay and left it alone. Angie also works at a salon in Pittsburgh, and as a result was 10 minutes or so late. The peticure was $40 and the manicure was $15. She takes cash or checks only - no credit cards. Keep in mind that it can get hot up there and I don't believe there is air conditioning. But Angie is great at what she does and a good conversationalist. She's also fine with comfortable silence and did not yak my ear off. Much appreciated, will definitely return. read more

When I was growing up, I was in awe of my grandmother's red lacquered nails. I always felt like I was in the presence of a well-mannered life, and for some reason, the nails became a focal point for that. Flash forward to years later when I would hurriedly dash on a little polish as I was running out the door to work, my attempt at mastering that well-mannered life while balancing being married, having kids and paying bills. Unfortunately, that didn't extend to my toenails, which usually were an afterthought. Salon mani-pedis were a luxury I could ill afford. Finally, I convinced myself that a pedicure was a gift I could give me on occasion. Thus began my search for the pedi to make it worth the expense. I went to elegant salons with hefty price tags. I tried low-budget line-'em-up mani-pedi chair salons, with their "estheticians," who chattered away to their co-workers but ignored whoever they were painting - and who finished in about 15 minutes. It showed in the quality of their work. Fine. I don't mind a salon experience where I don't have to carry on a conversation. I do mind getting at least a decent pedi. I even tried a salon well known in our community that was run by a fellow who claimed to offer the best pedicure experience ever, complete with foot massage. While the pedi result was good, he had a creepy manner and extra long fingernails that scraped when he was working. I couldn't wait to get out, and I still shudder whenever I drive by that place. Enter Angie at Manifix, which is tucked away near downtown Lafayette. From the moment you enter, you are greeted by Angie herself, who always has a big smile on her face and is happy to see you. She takes great pride in her work, and in about an hour, I come away with my tootsies looking amazing and my feet feeling like new. Plus, her pedicures last. They may cost a little more ($40, including a fabulous foot massage), but they are totally worth it. And, she's happy to chat away with you about any subject, or just let you be quiet and relax. It's worth taking the time to get to know Angie though; she has amazing stories of growing up in Viet Nam and coming to the U.S. She is a self-made woman, who has raised two children and who works hard at what she does. She also has a side business selling beautiful silk floral arrangements. I've been going to Angie now at least 10 years. There's no reason for me to look elsewhere. read more

My first time having a pedicure with Angie and I must say she's one of my faves! :) She works at a little shop by herself. I love that she's super detailed with shaping and cutting, & also her massages are amazing. She's such a sweet woman and makes you feel so comfortable. Her regular pedicures are $20-25 (depending how much work you need) & delux is $40 (which she takes more time). Definitely recommend!! read more

I have been going to Angie for close to 20 years. She is the only person that will cut my semi in-grown toe nail. Everyone else refuses to do it. She does a phenomenal job! I go in with a toe that hurts and when I leave, I'm good for a couple of months. I don't know what I will do if Angie ever retires! read more

At first I really enjoyed this shop. Angie was very friendly, it was a clean environment, and a reasonable price. I got a full set done and by the next day (I'm not over exaggerating) 2 of my tips had already broken off. I wast doing anything strenuous, one broke while I was putting on pants and the other while I was driving- they were just poorly done. When the third nail broke off the two days later, I called asking for a refund. Angie told me that she would not give me a refund but she would repair my nails. I explained that after my horrible experience and the cheap quality of her acrylics I did not want to go through putting 3 more nails back on and I just wanted my money back. She refused, claiming she already spent the money, told me to come in later if I wanted a repair then hung up. I am very dissatisfied with my service, and feel like i was cheated out of $40 dollars. I will never return to this shop, for she is cheap and cares more about money than her clients. read more

Angie's nail studio, Manifix, is a cute little shop close to downtown Lafayette. Angie does the best mani & pedi - I've tried many places in the Walnut Creek and Lafayette area, but this is the best place. Hands down! I didn't need the shellac and my polish stays on! Plus, Angie is so easy going and cheerful. She will chat with you if you're in the mood to chat. I have also been there and had the most relaxing quiet time before rushing back to work. Awesome experience as usual. I love coming here because it is so easy to get to and plenty of parking, just minutes from the freeway and minutes from the downtown shopping. Super easy place to stop in while you are shopping or grabbing a bite to eat downtown. read more

Can't say enough good things about Angie. You'll need to book ahead as she's a one person shop. But planning ahead is worth it; she is meticulous in both polish application and refreshing, trimming, filing and otherwise caring for nails. I had a nail that was in the (slowwww) process of falling off, and my sandals were getting impatient! She expertly and patiently trimmed and wrapped and polished my toe nail so that it is impossible to tell the difference between its sister on the other foot. I'm so glad I found her and will continue, given the last three visits I've had there, to make her my go to nail person! read more

Just moved to the area, called this nail shop and asked if she had experience doing shellac and she said "yes". Made an appointment, pedicure was pretty good but she didn't have experience doing shellac. She had to fix, retouch my nails five times and after not drying enough she would wipe them off, and even get frustrated at herself. So after being in her salon for over an hour and half, another customer waiting I just told her to leave them alone. First day two of my nails broke and the shellac came off, what a joke now I have to pay $25 to have them redone or just cut them all done?! Totally sucks, never experienced anything like this in the two decades ive been getting my nails done for. She's a nice lady, been there for twenty yrs and probably mainly does manicure and pedicure. I've been getting shellac done for over five yrs so I know good from bad. Oh, and she has an extremely limited options of colors for shellac. In the end I would rather pay a fee bucks more and have someone who's experienced do my nails. read more

I have been going to Angie for about 3 years. She is excellent with problem feet and toenails, like mine. I think her specialty is the $40.00 pedicure because she spends 1 hour + if you need it. She is hardworking and very focused on customer satisfaction. She has a small shop all by herself so you can focus on relaxing or reading. Her full pedicures ($40) are thorough; not the cut and paint your toe nails type. Her "casual" pedicure ($20) is more detailed than any pedicure you have ever experienced.
