These nails were for my graduation, and turned out better than i could have imagined. They were both very friendly and welcoming to me. I bite my nails and I tend to feel judged, but I don't feel judged here. Pricing is very reasonable, and the space is kept very clean and it smells good whenever I walk in. I work with my hands all day long and I am constantly washing my hands, so it's very impressive they last so well! My appointment with Tracy lasted an hour. She is fast and good! I booked appointments for both myself and my friend well in advance because we wanted to avoid a long wait. Unfortunately, we still ended up waiting almost two hours, which completely defeated the purpose of making an appointment. I paid $80 for a pedicure, but it was very disappointing. There was no massage or the level of service I expected for that price. When they started my friend's manicure , the technician was very rude to her, which made the experience even more unpleasant. The biggest surprise came when, after all that waiting, a staff member told me they couldn't do my manicure because there were too many customers waiting. I had specifically booked an appointment, so I don't understand why my reserved time wasn't honored. Overall, the service was unprofessional, poorly organized, and not worth the money. If appointments are required, they should be respected. This experience was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend this salon based on how we were treated. read more

Went to this yesterday. Pedicure gel polish cost me 70$ without tip. Lady was fast and did a good job however the pricing of the service doesn't not match on their list. When I booked the appt online it said 52$ On their menu of prices at the salon i asked for the cheapest pedicure which was 55$ it's was their signature. Of course, their is a language barrier so Please before you get your service confirm the prices. They may automatically add tip to total amount. UPDATE: 9 days after getting my nails done here I had vertical cracks along my pointer nail and one on my big toenail. 9 FULL DAYS was how long my nails lasted. Im not hard on my nails, I don't have them in water excessively. There's no reason why this happened other than poor quality service. I was out of town so had to find a nail shop while away to fix the nails. I will not return to this establishment. read more

Came here due to my regular nail tech being out of town and i desperately needed an appointment. I got my nails done by Janelle (gel -x) and gel pedicure. The salon is gorgeous and sterile. She was very nice. She did a pretty good job, however she tore my cuticles up! My cuticles are all cut and sore. When she was doing them I noticed a lot of bleeding. I got my nails done Friday 2/13 and I'm writing this review 2/18 and I'm still extremely sore. My fingers are still so tender to touch. I'm hesitant on going back. Otherwise pretty good work and nice service I just wish she would have not cut all of my cuticles as bad on all of my fingers. I tried to insert photos to show but the camera doesn't do a good job of picking that up. read more

You NEED to patronize this business if you do gel-x, BIAB, or just gel nails. ESPECIALLY Janelle! I drive all the way from Berkeley just to get my nails done here. They're one of the few nail salons that openly tells you they do gel-x fills, and doesn't pretend they can't fill gel-x even though they do BIAB. I refuse to have my nails reduced to painful sheets of paper because a salon wants to refile the entirety of my nail beds every time I want to change my manicure! Just, NO. Honest salons like K-Lux should be the standard. Janelle's gel-x sets have lasted me longer than a month, no lifting, whereas every other nail tech I've tried anywhere has my gel-x lifting before 2 weeks is even up. If you were about to give up on gel-x, try Janelle before you do! Even though her sets are long-lasting, I'm pretty much dedicated to going every 2 weeks for a fill when I can find the time! Plus they have every single chrome, glitter, crystal, and color you could ever want. It's NOT just what's on the shelves, the swatch decks, the boards, and books. They have drawers full of stuff you don't see. If you have a color you want and you don't see it, just show them! Glass cat eye? They have it. Glitter cat eye? Yup. Airbrush nails? Yes please. 3D designs? Uh-huh. With the selection of accoutrements I haaaaave seen, I wouldn't doubt they also have things like jelly polish, Mylar, flowers, and nail charms. Don't be afraid to ask! Did I mention they stay open til 7PM!!! on weekdays??? Um, yes!!! Just one star off because although they do acrylic, I'm not sure if their removal is soak-off and e-file, or ripping the nail off your bed like most salons, but I'm pretty sure if you asked them to do a soak-off and e-file removal, they would honor that if you preschedule, or they have the time on a walk in. But those are just the vibes I get. I could be wrong. Again, it never hurts to ask. It's a clean, chic salon with a good vibe, and it always smells nice in there. They're accommodating as long as you communicate with them. Try them out. PS. They're gentle with their e-files LOL vital information. read more

I've been here twice, and I have been very happy and impressed with how my nails look after getting a manicure at K-Lux. Giving 5 stars overall for the finished, end result, even though service was better the first time than the second time. On my first visit I came in for a full set, and they suggested Gel X Extensions, which I got for the first time. Nancy did an amazing job with my Gel X Extensions. She was friendly, efficient, and had great attention to detail. My red French design with a gold line looked beautiful! I came back 3 weeks later for a fill. Despite it being a fill, it took twice as long and two people worked on my nails. The person working on my fill was very distracted and kept answering calls, making calls, and attending to people walking in while working on my nails. Luckily I didn't have any plans right after my appointment, and the end result of the fill looked great, but I wish it had gone a bit faster. This was my manicure for my wedding, so as long as it looked perfect that's all that mattered to me ultimately. I was passed on to Kevin for my nail art and I was happy with his work. I got a French manicure with a silver line, and it looked very pretty! I love the vibe of this place. It has a nice clean aesthetic and they had cute decorations for Valentine's Day. They offer you water bottles during service and they have snacks in the waiting area. I recommend making an appointment. Parking is easy in the garage. read more

I came in here for the first time specifically for Kevin and the amount of amazing reviews he has. First of all, the aesthetic of the salon is beautiful & clean -- by far the best salon I have ever been to. I wanted a specific design for my nails to match an event that I'll be attending to soon, & my god Kevin delivered with recreating what I wanted. Kevin was busy taking calls and servicing other customers that came in for their appointments but was still attentive in every detail during my nail appointment. Super disappointed. I had a Gel-X set installed last Saturday and the technician didn't etch or prime the inside of the gel-x nails. I know I should have said something and now predictably they are lifting and loose. The whole service felt incredibly rushed and I doubt the nails will last another week. read more

Tracy is absolutely the sweetest and most amazing nail tech I've ever had! And that's saying a lot, as I do my nails monthly and have been to numerous nail salons over the years. Not only does she get whatever designs I want nearly exactly the same as the photos I provide, but she takes her time, never rushes me, even if my appointment goes after closing, and always takes photos of my nails for me. This time around, I provided a photo that was unfortunately an AI rendering. Tracy took the patience to allow me the time to find something else. Eventually I found a photo as a basis for what I wanted, but Tracy took it steps further by adding the idea of doing the wings on the two nails and varying the other nails with different butterflies. Then I asked for glitter, and she stunned me with the idea to do chrome lines for the butterfly details. (See photos for reference). This is by far my favorite set to date, but every set Tracy has done for me has been nothing short of perfect! Not only that, but she and her husband, Kevin, know their usual customers by name and even their preferences. Their salon is also so spacious, clean, and beautiful, and all their nail techs do a great job, as I do go to several others for my pedicures. I came here for a pedicure right before my vacation because this salon had great reviews, but unfortunately my experience was terrible. During my pedicure, the technician clipped into my big toe and cut my skin badly enough that it started bleeding. I've had technicians clean around my nails before, but I have never had someone cut me to the point of bleeding!!! While I understand accidents can happen, what upset me most was how the salon handled the situation afterward. Because of the cut, I asked the technician to stop the pedicure and just paint my nails. I also declined the hot wax treatment because putting hot wax over an open cut would be painful and unsanitary. When I asked if they could offer any discount since I was literally injured during the service, they refused. Instead, they only removed the charge for the wax treatment that I had declined. Since the technician still completed the massage, I essentially received no real compensation for being cut. I'm very disappointed by the lack of accountability and customer service. Mistakes happen, but how a business responds says a lot. I expected at least a partial refund or some acknowledgment that cutting a client until they bleed is not an acceptable outcome. Unfortunately, I left feeling like my injury was dismissed. got my nails done here recently. I had an appointment but still ended up waiting a bit, which wasn't a huge deal. I'll be honest--this just wasn't quite what I was looking for. I came in for builder gel nails, and I was expecting the more traditional painted-on builder gel. Instead, the tech used a squeeze-tube method that went on very thick, which I personally didn't love. There also wasn't much cuticle cleanup, and unfortunately my nails chipped after just a couple of days. That said, there are positives. The service was friendly, the color selection was really cute, and the price was very affordable. I usually pay $100+ at my regular salon, and this was only around $60, which is a big difference. I think this place really comes down to what you're looking for. If you want something quick, affordable, and decent-looking, this is a solid option--the whole appointment only took about 30 minutes. If you're someone who prefers a very meticulous, detail-oriented nail service (my usual salon takes 1.5 hours and is extremely thorough), this might not be the best fit. Overall, it just wasn't for me personally, but I can definitely see it working well for others--especially if you're not as picky as I am. read more
