I called Paul on short notice for an emergency ride from his home in Independence to Lancaster. He…read morewas up-front and honest about pricing (which is very high, but there's also not a lot of shuttle/taxi drivers in the area). I've read previous reviews about him being an erratic or poor driver, but I can testify that I never felt unsafe in his car. This is potentially because he drove me in his Chevy Bolt with self-driving assist, which he says that he uses as much as he can. Regarding other complaints about Paul, keep in mind that Paul is in his 70s, so don't expect to be talking to a quick-thinking and internet/text-savvy youngster - call him over the phone. Many of the complaints about this business may be related to season. He tells me that he is extremely busy in the summer when there are John Muir Trail hikers, and hires drivers to help then. I wouldn't be surprised if he drops the ball during the busy times. However, I used his services at the end of February. You might want to be cautious if hiring him in peak season, but I can affirm that I had nothing but a pleasant experience riding with Paul during his slow season. I can also verify that Paul is bad with navigation (he had trouble getting me to my final destination for the last mile or so, once we got off the highway) and will drive at or below the speed limit (this might be a problem if you're in a hurry). I'm knocking off a star at 4/5 for those reasons. One downside is that Paul wanted to get a free charge for his Chevy Bolt, so we took a 15 minute rest stop along the way (see picture).

I have read all of the negative comments. This was not my experience with Paul. It was the opposite. I received great service which was on time and allowed me to pursue my adventure. And he let us pick up a hitchhiker heading up to Horseshoe Meadows - so we were also able to help out a fellow backpacker. Also worth noting that Paul was driving an electric car - so we used zero gasoline to pull this off. I liked that.

He was…read moreour saving grace for my friend and me when we were absolutely sh*t out of luck driving into Sequoia National Park. Our car, which had all of our road trip belongings, died on our way up the road to the park. We hitchhiked our way back down, and with little service and no access to any Ubers or taxis in Three Rivers, the server at The Gateway provided us with the phone number for Three Rivers Transportation Delivery Service--specifically, Trent. The sun was setting, and we were running out of options, so when Trent picked up and agreed to come, it was one of the greatest reliefs I'd had in a long time. Throughout the next few days, as we had to figure out how to 1 - get the car off the side of the mountain, 2 - deal with a totaled car, 3 - sell the totaled car, 4 - eat/sleep, and 5 - figure out how to get home to Colorado, Trent was our angel. He helped us during every step of the way, even though he didn't have to. He's a beloved member of the Three Rivers community--and it makes sense! He is one of the kindest, most considerate, and all-around lovely individuals I've ever run into. Thank you for all that you do, Trent! I also enjoyed that there didn't need to be one pick up and one drop off. I ordered this service for my sister and her husband for after their wedding, and they were going to be going to a friend's, home, then their hotel. This service let me dictate all that, but it was also included in the amount of time that I booked the service for. So there are options for one way, and by the hour. I was also glad to not have to rent a whole limo, as they have town cars too! The service itself from what i experienced and from what I heard, top notch. Randy was their driver and he made it a fun evening for them. This was so great to hear, especially after some air had been let out of their balloon after some drama from another vendor and then from some family as well. He was polite, courteous, friendly and communicative. They all even ended up at in and out and took some photos! Overall great experience with touch of class, and I will definitely use their services again for a high class occasion or if I need to impress someone. :) I say if this way because the service does cost you a pretty penny, but if you consider how much a DUI is now a days, it's so much better to spend the money this way!!
