I do NOT recommend this establishment due to poor customer service and unmaintained properties. My wife and I had booked a 4-night stay over the 4th of July weekend (total cost over $1,000) but we checked out 2 nights early because of the state of the property. If you're looking for a fun, comfortable, outdoorsy stay in the area, check out the Postcard Cabins instead! THE GOOD: The property is located in a beautiful area. Views are great. I really like the food at Bearr Appetit restaurant -- kudos to the chef! THE BAD: Customer service is poor. I get the impression management must have simply stopped caring at some point. Example 1: I tried contacting the property multiple times before our reservation. Half the time, nobody answered the phone. I left a voicemail once and nobody responded. The two times someone answered, they promised to call me back with an answer to my question, but never did. Example 2: The morning of July 4, only one server showed up on time for her shift at Bearr Appetit. The poor girl was HUSTLING to keep up with multiple tables, indoors and outdoors, in hot and humid weather. I'm standing alone at the host stand waiting to be seated for about 5 minutes. A manager (owner?) is sitting at the cash register counting the money. Finally the manager/owner stands up, starts heading the the kitchen, sees me, and asks, "Are you waiting to be seated?" I say yes. She POINTS AT THE POOR WAITRESS who's struggling to keep up and says, "She'll be right with you." Then proceeds into the kitchen. Finally I asked the waitress if I should seat myself, which she appreciated and agreed to. Example 3: Upon departing 2 nights early due to the condition of the property (discussed below), my wife wrote an email explaining the issues and asking if they'd refund one night as a compromise. It's been a week now and we're starting to doubt we'll ever get so much as an acknowledgement. THE UGLY: My wife and I stayed with our dog in the Speckled Owl cabin. It's a good sized, secluded property, but it soon became clear to us that management puts minimal effort into maintaining it. Example 1: The first thing we noticed was that the ground floor was COVERED IN DEAD MILLIPEDES. We immediately called maintenance, who promptly came to vacuum them up. But in less than 24 hours, the floor was COVERED IN LIVING MILLIPEDES. This made the first floor basically unusable to us. If we needed something from the kitchen we had to tiptoe around the bugs. By Day 2, the millipedes were migrating upstairs to the bedroom. (That's when my wife decided we needed to go.) Example 2: Enormous cobwebs everywhere, inside and outside. Example 3: Patio and terrace furniture was filthy and disgusting. Bird poop and other crap all over the chairs and tables. Example 4: Linens and towels were old and worn to the point that we wondered how clean they were. Example 5: The mattress was awful. You can feel the the springs and if one person moves, everyone moves. Bottom line, we were extremely disappointed in Lydia Mountain Lodge & Cabins. We feel there's a lot of potential to make this into a special place given the wonderful location, but that the current ownership/management has no real interest in the guest experience. read more

Lovely, quaint, well built lodge. Had a room in the lodge. It was clean and decorated with so much detail. Loved the grounds, so much to look at and see, beautiful views. Stopped downstairs in the restaurant to look around and a gracious waitress directed us to maps and told us to come by if we needed anything although she was busy doing other things, too. While it had beautiful views and rustic charm, the service was just average and the food was also just average. I had heard good things about the food and portion size which is why we drove 1+ hours to get there. I expected bugs from the woods, and being of rural origins, I get how critters can get in the house. But the air quality of Love Nest was pretty unbearable. First thing I noticed when we walked in was a strong, off odor. I quickly realized it smelled similar to when I lived in a place with a mouse problem -- but our problem never smelled this bad. Specifically, the cabin smelled strongly like mouse waste (droppings, urine.) As if this has been a longstanding problem that is consistently not being addressed. Never saw droppings, but did spy two mouse traps under the kitchen sink, so I know workers at least have seen evidence of mice. We left early because this smell was making me sick. Otherwise, I would have enjoyed the stay. The mouse stench ruined it all. It was awful. read more

We've stayed at Mountain View Hideaway cabin for the last 2 years and it DOES NOT disappoint!! Love the view, love that it has a hot tub, fireplace, and the fact it's so quaint. Lots of things to do in Greene County like trails, horse back riding, wineries, and breweries. Not far from Massanutten, Charlottesville, or Harrisonburg. I have not stayed at the Lydia Mountain Lodge nor tried Bearrr Appetit Restaurant, I've only stayed at the cabin. One thing this is legit on a mountain that has 1 lane and that's it. If I could leave 0 stars, I would... where to start with this experience at the Lydia Mountain restaurant "Bear Appetit". We sat down and waited an extended amount of time for them to take our order for drinks but that is only the beginning. After waiting about 20 minutes after receiving drinks and then waiting over an hour to receive half of our tables food. The food was terrible, 2 of our 5 guests received their food 15 minutes after the other 3 guests. We were given an excuse of running out of potatoes and the server proceeded to argue with us regarding the service. I am sorry but providing 1/2 of the tables meals 20 minutes after the first 3 is unacceptable. The server came to us at the end and offered to comp our bill. I would say we were pleased they decided to comp the meal until the "a*shole* pictured decided to follow us out to inquire about our experience. After we told him it was poor he proceeded to call one of our party members a "c*nt". This left an extremely poor taste in our mouth and we will never return to this hillbilly ridden establishment. For the pricepoint of the rooms, the experience was underwhelming. We stayed in the Music of the Mountains Room 203. (1) Cleanliness: My wife and I discovered old blood on the comforter of the bed in the Music of the Mountains room. This was not ok to discover on the first day. (2) Condition: There were a bunch of dead bugs in the light fixtures, which immediately made my wife uncomfortable sleeping here. There was also mold on the shower curtain. Outside our room we couldn't get drinks from the vending machine and the available stock was very low. (3) Guest Service: Politeness only gets you so far. There are 2 particular things that made the stay aggravating rather than enjoyable: (1) We had to call the property manager to file a noise complaint at midnight on our second night only to be told that the guests below us would get a "warning text" to quiet down. This was effectively pointless because there was a good chance the people would have their phones on Do Not Disturb mode and also there is no weight of enforcement behind it like an in-person scolding is supposed to do. We ended up setting up white noise to tamp down on the noise, determining that the property manager had effectively given us a middle finger. (2) The thing that upset us the most was when we requested housekeeping after the first night to replace the comforter with blood on it. They never came, the comforter was still out in the open for the staff to see untouched and the bed was not remade with new linens. This is the first time I have ever requested housekeeping (in person) only to be ignored. (4) Location: Great if you want mountains. View is nice off the balcony, but we were there for a wedding and this was the recommended lodging. In case of emergency, good luck driving 30 minutes to Ruckersville for anything substantial if you have a wardrobe malfunction or some sort of issue. Stanardsville is cute but otherwise not worth the time. My recommendation is to go to an AirBnB. Maybe Lydia Lodge's cabins are better taken care of but the actual Lodge itself is dubious. read more

We went on a cold but sunny February morning and was immediately impressed with the Lodge and amazing scenery. The restaurant was downstairs and we were greeted by the friendly staff. On our way from Pennsylvania to Pigeon Forge, TN we stayed one night at the Lydia Mountain Lodge. What a lovely place! After stopping at the little local store and chatting with the very cool shop owner, we headed towards the Lodge. On the way we passed the cabins which looked like a great place to stay too. Just before we got to the Lodge, in the parking area, we were greeted by a few cats in the road. It was almost as if they were checking us out and deciding if we deserved entrance. The Lodge itself is beautiful. It reeks of quality and intentional design. When you take a walk around to look at the Lodge, you can tell that the ballroom and the outside deck would be an amazing place to hold a wedding. Especially with the mountains as the backdrop. The fun thing about the rooms in the Lodge is that they all have a different theme. Thanks to amazing Joshua, my husband and I were delighted to stay in Room 101, Southern Belle. There are so many wonderful details in the room that I was still discovering new things the next morning. The room brought me joy. Just to name a few notable things about the room besides the wonderful decor is the electric fireplace, lighted mirror in the bathroom and the back porch with an Amazing view of the sunrise. During our short stay we had a dinner and breakfast at the on-site restaurant Bearrr Appetit, The food was great and the staff were super friendly. It was too cold to eat outside but if you can, the view is amazing. If I ever pass that way again I will definitely stay here...for longer next time. read more

This review is about the restaurant attached to the lodge only- Bear Appetit. We moved to the area and Bear Appetit was great once or twice. I was impressed by the food and the view of the mountains are gorgeous... But it has quickly gone downhill. The past 3x, we have had to wait an hour plus for our food. This past time, we walked without receiving our entrees. We have a child and we only ate some complimentary side rolls....we saw people who were seated after us get their entrees. They did not have any forethought to get us our sides first?? How long does it take for fries for example??? They have been understaffed for months and months. This review is about the Old Dam Cabin. My wife and I stayed two nights here as a pre-honeymoon little trip. The Good: Nice little cabin with a cool yard, picnic table, fire pit, and a beautiful pond right next to it. It looks rustic both outside and inside, which certainly adds to the experience. Cool to start a fire with the firewood provided (front porch) and enjoy it on a chilly evening. Kitchen is equipped with all you need, the oven looks brand new and works perfectly. Plenty of beds if you're a larger party, although the full bed is hard as a rock. The Bad: When I booked the cabin, I only received an email with a reservation number. No receipt whatsoever. After a few weeks, I wanted to know how much it was because I did not remember, so I emailed them. The email bounced back, so I went to the "contact" link on the website, and sent them a message through that. Again, they never responded. I called on the phone, left voice messages, which they never returned. It was only one lucky moment that my wife called, and they answered the phone and confirmed the total price. But still to this day, after our stay, they never responded to my electronic message. When we arrived, the four last digits of my phone number did not work to open the door. I had to call them. It seems they programmed the code wrong, or, to our suspicion, did not program it at all. When we first entered the cabin, we noticed that they had not cleaned it thoroughly like one would expect. I've been to cheap and crappy Econo Lodges that were much cleaner. There were food crumbs on the table and on the floor. There was debris on the floors and corners. The living room's carpet had dust all over. It was evident that the vacuuming wasn't very thoroughly done, if at all. Yet they state in the instructions that they will charge you a fee if the place is left "excessively unclean". For you to charge me for that, I have to first step into a squeaky clean cabin, which was clearly not the case as you can read here. In addition to food crumbles, we spotted mice droppings (excrement) on top of the stove, inside of the silverware drawer, and in the bathroom. The next morning, it became obvious that there was an infestation or at least a very large population of mice around, because the stove was covered with droppings. There was no food around, other than a few things in perfectly sealed containers. It is no fun to have to wash everything because maybe mice walked all over the silverware... Next... the hot tub. The water was OK, but there was a lot of sediment and dirt on the bottom. Clearly hadn't been cleaned in a while. Next... DirectTV did not work. The TV would tell us to check and reset the adaptor, which never worked. There is no Wi-Fi in the cabins (this is clear in the website though), so having cable TV to watch a movie or whatever while we had dinner would have been cool. Next... they make you go somewhere to take the trash. You pay a lot of money for each night, yet YOU have to haul the garbage bag to a remote dumpster. This is also another sign of poor service. We stayed two nights, and brought our pet with us. Those two nights, plus the pet fee, amounted to plus $500. For $500, we have to say that what we got was very, very poor and unsatisfactory. We have travelled and stayed at other cabins and hotels around Virginia and West Virginia, which were the same price or cheaper, and were 10 times cleaner, and we could tell they've gone the extra mile because of the pandemic. Not the case at Lydia's. Our suspicion is that if any cleaning service stopped by that cabin, it was for 5 minutes and did not perform anything near what I would call CLEANING. That said, it was our first and last visit, unfortunately, and we would not recommend this place. This place was not worth our hard-earned money. It seems that these cabins used to get a lot of 5 stars reviews in the past, but are currently getting lots of poor reviews. I am disappointed to have to write all of this. read more

Plenty of room for improvement, but I see the potential. The Lodge is gorgeous, smells like new wood, very rustic. The first thing you see when you come in is the view, and it's breathtaking. Serious consideration for a wedding, but I'd be concerned for the food offerings. We went for "brunch" and we got a buffet of scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits, mealy whole apples, and a cake. With two gluten free family members, there wasn't much. Would have liked lunch options, cut fruit would be easy enough. The waitstaff is new, and undertrained. Coffee was burned. Glad I didn't see the bill. We then toured all the rooms, I guess it's personal taste, but I would say they were over decorated without the assistance of a decorator. Once they're "lived in" I'm sure somethings will change. The cabins look rustic and lovely for a weekend getaway. I look forward to seeing the place grow! read more

Well...we tried to check in at the main part of the hotel (that looked decent). They did not have any available rooms so the very nice family that was booking booked us a few miles down the road. When we pulled in all I can say is.....sketch. The bed is a cot that has 2 things posing as pillows. The room is not dirty and smells and looks clean. However, it is only a few steps up from camping. Very dishonest establishment that has rude management. We booked a cabin that was advertised on there website. When it was time to pay the balance we got an invoice 3 times the amount we booked it for. The manager said there was a glitch in the system at the time of our booking and they could not honor the price..clearly they are not aware of Virginia laws on advertising prices. The manager was very rude, abrupt and actually hung up on my husband. When he tried to call back no one answered. Stay clear of this establishment, read other reviews in the last year. If you're looking for a getaway that is clean and with a view this location will meet your needs. If you're staying in the lodge is you should plan to hear every single time someone enters the code to their guest room, you will hear every time someone is in the hallway and due to the large gaps beneath the doors your neighbors will hear all your celebrating. For reference maintenance began work on the room next door at 7:30 a.m. and we could hear them using a tape measure. It should be noted management barely offered a sincere apology regarding the early Holiday morning wake up call of the nail gun and were less than surprised when informed about a drowned bunny in their petting zoo's water bowl. The penned dogs were super sweet as was the little beagle who had the run of the property. The goats, pigs and fowl were surprisingly friendly. The view was beautiful and well situated to see the sun rise and close enough to skyline drive to adventure out for the sunset. We found it interesting that guests had full access to the deck outside of every guest's room leaving very little privacy. The restaurant was not open for breakfast on a holiday Monday and closed at 6 on Sunday so we were unable to try the food. That said it was a nice getaway, a beautiful venue with beautiful views. My husband and I needed a getaway during this pandemic. My daughter and friends rented a cabin here for the weekend so I looked into it and at the last minute got a room in the lodge. We stayed in the fisherman's room. What a fun motif with an electric fireplace. The room was spotless with hard wood floors and white linens. The bed was so comfortable. My view in the morning was spectacular! Breakfast was delicious. I had the veggie omelet and my husband had the western. We kind of had the place to ourselves because so few people are venturing out right now. The staff was pleasant but left us alone. We can't wait to come back when the pandemic is gone. read more

The views are amazing! We came here for a wedding and were very impressed with this new lodge. They defined have a few finishing touches and kinks to work out, but this could easily be one of the best venues around. The staff was very friendly and quick to deliver food and cleanup. It had poured rain and as soon as there was a break, the staff when out and dried the chair seats and backs. Few items that do need attention to bump this place up to the next level: The bathrooms in the main entrance do not have a changing table which should be required for a place that hosts any type of event. They had pocket doors for the reception halls that didn't have handles on them so it made it difficult to open them to go out to use the restrooms. There was a make shift plywood ramp for one of the handicapped guests because the door was too high for a wheelchair. The food brought out for the good, while good, was lukewarm and some of it was cold. The mash potatoes basically had to be cut with a knife they were so thick. Now again, the food had great flavor, so with a little more practice this could be a great dining experience. They may also want to increase their signage for parking and get additional parking areas as the lot filled up quick and this was a relatively small wedding. read more

Not super impressed with this cabin, when you first walk in, it seems clean but the window seals are super dirty & there was stuff on the side of the vanity in the bathroom that Definitely didn't belong. Check-in was a super easy process, they give you everything you need to know & you actually have no interaction with any people (which for me I liked) but the cabin itself wouldn't go below 72 degrees no matter how low we set the temperature, so being that we sleep with the temp 68 or lower the first night my husband had to sleep on the couch, the second night we moved the mattress to the living room floor... we didn't even stay for the third night... we left early because it was just so miserable. Everyone is so friendly and helpful. The lodge is absolutely gorgeous and sits on top of a mountain. We are here in August and the temperature is nice and cool. we ate at the Bearrr restaurant last night and it was delicious and the service was wonderful. They even had live music which was an added bonus. We had breakfast there this morning and had the same great dining experience. I would recommend this place for just about anything. My family and I stayed in the Weiss cabin for Christmas. It was perfect for 8.5 people (the .5 is a toddler). We all had very comfortable rooms in a very rustic setting. It was very cozy and the grounds were ridiculously beautiful. The kitchen was nice and spacious. The bathrooms had their quirks (the toilets), but comfortable. I loved that the cabin was decorated for the holidays. It also had a washing machine and a dryer. They also had a dishwasher. We had so much fun, especially with the old-school board games. I'd say it was one of the best holidays we've had together as a family in a long time. My only, very personal, quirk was that there were no ziplock bags, aluminum foil, or that sort of thing. We stayed at Haven of Rest. When we first arrived we almost had an accident trying to park out front. It's right on a major road with 18 wheelers driving past and there is VERY limited parking right along side the of the road. The old house itself is small and about 20 years past the need of a renovation. There is a cool 8 track player in the wall....just wished it worked. The overall feel is that is was just thrown together as a rental with minimal money spent. No keurig? White bottom sheet, old faded flower top sheet? Sure, it all feels the same while you sleep but that's just one antidotal example. Did I mention 18 wheelers coming down the mountain just feet outside your window? All....night....long. The house should just be torn down before a car runs off the road and into the living room. read more

Once you are confirmed and paid, you will have trouble getting in touch with anyone should you have a problem while you are staying in your cabin, or questions prior to your arrival-either by phone or email. Shock issue with hot tub, advice was to stand on a mat before getting into hot tub. Basement furniture and floor had several mouse droppings which increased during our stay. Cabin was in need of a deep cleaning to remove dust and dirt from walls, fixtures and windows. You must drive all of your accumulated trash to a dumpster about two miles away upon leaving. If the cabin you are renting has Internet-as Dancing Bear did, the connection is extremely poor. It will only work for one person at a time, poorly. Be aware that Dancing Bear has only one TV in the entire cabin, in the basement. This is not clearly indicated on the website. The basement is not suitable as extra sleeping space. There is a futon type couch that is extremely uncomfortable, and has mouse droppings in the creases of the cushions read more

Stayed at The Cottage at Nature's Edge Cabin 3rd weekend of September, for the price of the accommodations, I was disappointed in the level of cleanliness. Cons (things you REALLY need to know): Upon arrival, I had to sweep the entire back porch because it was a complete mess! There were spiders and webs everywhere, acorns, twigs and tree branches everywhere. I had to sweep every chair before we could sit in any of them because they were infested with spiders. The advertised hot tub was not hot, barely tepid, set at 91 degrees (but felt barely warm), and even though we turned it up on Saturday when we arrived at 3 pm...it never became warm enough to enjoy (we tried and froze our butts off)...even though we again took a dip on Monday morning before we left. BRRRR! It was very disappointing to not be able to use the hot tub during our entire stay. It was one of the main reasons we booked the cabin. We could not enjoy the advertised Foosball table in the very small "game room" because the room was infested with spiders, webs, and was filthy. There were bugs and spider droppings everywhere. After spending almost a half hour trying to clean the room so we could play Foosball I gave up. I just didn't feel as though I should be cleaning it (too much trouble) when I paid to be in a place that should have already been cleaned for our stay and enjoyment...especially as the Foosball game room was an advertised amenity pictured on the website as clean and ready to use. We were surprised to find in the list of "Rules" left on the kitchen table (which required a signature) that we had to strip the beds of sheets and pillow cases and leave them in the bathtub before we left. We had to remove our trash, put it in the car and drive several miles (out of the way and very inconvenient) to the resort dumpster or we would be charged a fee on the credit card to which they charged our reservation/stay. This wasn't explained to us during the booking process nor was it disclosed to us in the reservation email. Seriously, we had to strip the beds...we paid just over $200 per night for the cabin rental and for the money we paid, I feel this is something the cleaning crew should do...not the paying guest. My travel partner dropped something which rolled under a bed in the bedroom and was totally grossed out by finding a mens tube sock enveloped in an inch of dust under the bed. It looked as though a dust mop had not been run under the beds in each bedroom for quite some time. In one of the bedrooms, the head of the bed lay up against the wall where the hot tub was directly on the other side. The hum of the hot tub could be heard and felt while laying in the bed. It was annoying. During the reservation process I was told that the road to the cabin I was renting was steep and it was best if I had a front wheel drive car, but I wasn't told the road was dirt and gravel. I wasn't told the road in and out was a long dirt road. I rented a car for the trip, but had I known we were going to be driving up and down steep dirt and gravel mountain roads I would have rented a SUV. We were unaware we weren't able to build a fire in the fireplace before Sept. 30, but they were kind enough to allow us to do so after we called and asked if they would make an exception because we were there only 7 days before the 30th. Bring firewood! Pros: If you like being off the beaten path, staying in a gorgeous mountain setting, being completely secluded...this is the place for you! The cabin was very homey, comfortable, and with the exception of the above mentioned, the living room, dining area, kitchen and bathroom were spotless. The cabin was decorated with all sorts of interesting "country inspired" decorations which gave the cabin a very rustic feel. The cleaning crew left us with very few paper towels left on the roll and we ran out, couldn't find any extra rolls, but we used provided kitchen towels and got by just fine. The cabin was stocked with everything you'll need: plates, glasses (watch out for chips), cooking utensils, silverware, coffee maker, even salt and pepper. There was a flat screen TV with DirecTV (no local channels), a comfy log style futon couch and comfy over sized log style chair to lounge on, a front and back porch with rocking chairs and lounge chairs, the provided towels and provided robes (nice touch) were very clean and soft, the hot water was HOT (be careful!), and the cabin is situated on 5 acres in a mountain setting that is absolutely breath taking! The tiny little vineyard in front of the cabin was beautiful! We explored and found cute little out buildings and "relics" from days gone by which really added to the ambiance of the property. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and it was very difficult to leave. I would have given this travel experience a much higher rating, but there were just a few things we couldn't get beyond as I've expressed in the "cons" section of my review. read more

We spent the weekend here at the beginning of March and very much enjoyed our stay. It was our first time at Lydia Mountain cabins and we would enjoy going back. We stayed in 'Mattie Moo' which was the perfect size for the 2 of us. Our cabin had a wood burning fireplace which we made use off all weekend. (we specifically selected a cabin with a wood burning fireplace, there are cabins with gas fireplaces as well) they had firewood on the porch for us to use, no kindling though. The reservation manager had mentioned that we should bring our own fire starter or starter log which we did so we were all set. The cabin has a small kitchen with electric stove, microwave, fridge, sink and dishwasher. For our short stay we didn't really make use of the appliances. There was a small tv with DVD player and satellite tv which was fine for checking the news or the weather but we weren't away for the weekend to watch tv so size of the tv didn't matter. Our cabin had a hot tub which we enjoyed during our stay. It was clean and it was up to temperature (hot) and stayed that way throughout our stay. Being the early March the weather was pretty chilly at night but sunny and in the 50's during the day. The heat in the cabin easily kept us warm. The cabin had air conditioning as well for use in the summer. Our cabin was pretty well secluded from the others. We could barely see the other cabins through the trees when on the rear porch. A short walk down the private road brings you to a small play area for kids and some other outdoor activities (like zip-line) that you can pay extra to participate in. Even after all of the snow the area had received over the winter the stone entrance road was well maintained and we arrived easily by car. The location is perfect if you want to go and enjoy the many wineries in the area, which was our main focus for the weekend. Within an hour's drive from the cabin you can visit tons of great Virginia Wineries. Next time we are headed to that area we will definitely consider staying in one of the cabins. As a side note: at the time of this review March 2014 there was no AT&T cellular service available at the cabin. Not even a little bit. Once we got down the entrance drive down to the main road cell signal retuned. The cabin website mentions that verizon service was better at the cabins. There was no landline phone in the cabin. read more

My wedding was this past weekend at Lydia Mountain Lodge and Cabins in Stanardsville, VA., a hidden gem. It could not have been more beautiful or have gone more smoothly. The venue is rustic and the staff was incredibly helpful. Tina and Buck were readily available to answer any and all questions in a timely manner (and I had a lot). Tina was flexible and helped me coordinate the booking of cabins for friends and family for the weekend. I showed up unannounced one Saturday to do some measuring at the pavilion and Buck showed up (after a call to Tina) to open the stage so I could take a look. The price was right, too. We had use of the stone and wood pavilion both Friday and Saturday for a fraction of what other venues cost. Because we reserved the pavilion for both Friday and Saturday (we had an all-inclusive "I DO" BBQ there on Friday night), we got two hours of labor assistance from a Lydia Employee. JW was great. I had a task list for him and he knocked them out lickety-split. He was a huge help. One of the unique aspects of this venue is that there is a full commercial kitchen available for use. My cake-bakers (my friend's teenage children) used is as did the caterers on both Friday and Saturday. It was a HUGE plus to have access to and use of the kitchen. We were able to store our white wine and bottled water in the refrigerator and the ice in the freezer. We had the ceremony in the pavilion on the stage, served dinner in a 40'X60' tent adjacent to the pavilion on the grass, then dancing back in the pavilion. It was seamless and perfect. Our guests LOVED staying in the cabins and commented on how amazing the property was. Many of them said they would definitely return for a weekend away in the future. EVERY cabin has a hot tub that is the perfect temperature. I loved soaking and relaxing in the hot tub. My husband and I are planning on visiting Lydia Mountain Lodge every year on our anniversary if not more. read more

We stayed in the lodge and our room was gorgeous. So many historical design touches. The only reason I'm giving 4stars instead of 5 is because we didn't have a great experience with the restaurant. We ate there for dinner and breakfast, and the first night, we waited at the hostess station for nearly 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged. Literally staff walking right past us like we weren't there. Finally, a waitress called across the room' "just sit somewhere, but it'll be awhile before we can get to you". No drinks, no menu; nothing to bide time while we waited. I get times are tough, and it's hard to find staff, I'm happy to wait; but not being acknowledged is frustrating. It's a very isolated lodge of or we would've left and gone some there else but that wasn't an option. Breakfast, we were seated quicker but service was ridiculously slow - waited on our food for an hour after ordering. read more

I would not waste my money on families like Dean and Shifflet whose families steal land. I much prefer to spend my money at reputable establishments that earn the work for it versus theft. They exploited the pain and suffering of my family and hold weddings in the very spot where my father shot himself in the head. If families knew that, they may seek a venue with more positive energy. read more

I absolutely loved it here! I was a little worried about the road getting to our cabin because of other reviews but we were just fine in a Chevy Cruze. We stayed at the cabin called Luvin In The Woods and it was absolutely adorable! I would recommend arriving during daylight because the signs to the cabins can be a little hidden. The hot tub was nice and private. The kitchen was fully stocked. The cabin overall was very clean. There was even WiFi! Our cabin was very pet friendly so I will definitely be bringing my dog next time. There's a guest book hidden in the box in front of the fireplace which has little stories from everyone who's stayed there so make sure to add to it! I will definitely be coming back here. read more

Had a great time. The pictures they have on their site doesn't represent the whole picture so I attached some of mine. We stayed at granny B's and it was amazing. The hot tub and the fire pit made the stay amazing. Love this place. Cons: 1- no light to BBQ outside at night 2- no dog gate for the deck (if you have dogs) 3- no hiking maps to the nearby trails 4- no lighting fluid for the fire, you'll have to buy one Pros: 1- full kitchen 2- clean cabin and hot tub 3- BBQ set up and fire pit 4- hot water and heater 5- dog friendly 6- quiet and perfect privacy Will visit again read more
