I was a frequent passenger of Lyft, until a recent incident. A week after taking a Lyft ride as I normally do, I was charged $56 to drive fewer than 7 miles. I investigate and realize there was a "damage fee". Unaware of any damages caused (because of course none were), I used the website to send in a complaint. A week passes, no response. I repeat the process again, to ensure that I correctly filed the complaint. I was still fully faithful in their system. Yet I am still waiting for a reply! I completed another one, for a third time, angrily and more than ready to delete the app. And sadly to say, I am still waiting for a reply. I cannot even find a customer service number to contact so that at least there is communication happening between myself and a human This is completely unacceptable and I am now highly discouraged from ever taking Lyft again. read more

I am so happy that Lyft is in Detroit and unlike other cities who fight them has welcomed them and even made an agreement with them. I love using Lyft and not having to ask friends or family to provide a ride. I recently had surgery in May and ultilized Lyft to get to the hospital and from it once I was released. Last week I voluntarily grounded my car because it needed a brake job and I did not want to risk my safety. I relied on Lyft half the week to get to and from work and the experience was still just as stellar. All my drivers were courteous and safe. I was even one of my drivers very first Lyft passenger which was really cool. I love the pink mustache too! read more

I love Lyft and prefer it over Uber. I have nothing bad to say about Uber I have not tried them. I have used Lyft 6 times in the last 3 months in big cities , not Detroit yet but, I have had really great experiences each time...being female being small and being alone in a big city and taking a ride from someone you don't know can be scary at first. It was everything I hoped it would be. Clean vehicles,friendly people that put me at ease right away, helped me with my luggage had good conversation and just an overall good experience. I think that it is unfair to receive a 100-250% charge that Lyft calls a primetime fee. This means that when lyft drivers are busy, your normal transport fee doubles or triples. People work hard for their money and can use a taxi for the price that Lyft charges during primetime. A taxi is expensive but atleast the customer knows their charge considering that the fastest rout is taken. I work hard for my money and the add on fee is too expensive for me or any middle class work. I could see 5-10% but 250% is ridiculous. read more

Warning! If you update your payment information on your Lyft account, they will deduct $25 from your account and hold it until you use their services. Whatever is left over will be credited to your Lyft account. Just imagine if all companies were allowed to do this. Seems to be a slippery slope to me. Radken (the driver) was exceptional. My father is 80 years old and needed to be picked up at the hospital. Due to work, I was unable. This gentleman was helpful and waited while dad got his RX filled and was patient with dads limited mobility. Even though he had a full size truck, dad had only the most positive things to say about him. Radken is truly an AMBASSADOR for this company. I wish there was a way to reach out personally and let him know how much it's appreciated. We just lost my mother 8 days ago and dad has been frail ever since. Used lyft for the first time. The driver pulled up in my driveway, i came out of my house, and he pulled out of the driveway, and sped away. They CHARGED ME A $5 CANCELLATION FEE, which they informed me was going TO THE DRIVER!!!!! When I emailed them to complain, they sent me a snarky response and a link to a page with useless info on it. If I could give no stars I would. I was hit by one of their drivers who had a passenger in the car. He chose to go around a bus and run a red light and smashed into my car as I was turning left at my green light. He not only caused an accident, went around a bus, ran a red light, and put all of us at risk for severe injury. But on top of all of that he never got out of his vehicle to ask if I was okay, I didn't see him engage with his ride and ask her if she was okay or not she just walked to the other side of the street. And when I called the company to report it they were unconcerned before I had to raise my voice and tell them it was a serious incident. I had a girl I went to high school reach out to me and tell me of her accident in Detroit within the past couple weeks. She was t-boned by a lyft driver a few blocks from where I was hit a couple weeks prior. Both incidents the lyft drivers were 100% at fault and they received tickets and are responsible for all damages to our cars. I know for sure that my driver never needs to be behind the wheel responsible for anyone else again, and neither does the one from the other girls accident. Lyft let's anyone drive for them and it shows. And they don't seem to care about what happens after they receive their money, unless you raise your voice and tell them it's serious.(which you shouldn't have to do when they're responsible for their drivers) I will never use this app and I highly recommend nobody else does. You're safer with Uber they actually do background checks. Or just drive yourself and be safe. read more

Complete rip off! Not only are priced gauging due to weather conditions (I had a ride estimated at $56 for less than 10 miles! Seriously) but they took money off of muy daughter's debit card then cancelled her ride saying there were no cars in the area. This happened to me before and there is no customer service number to call and resolve the issue. Complaints on the website go unanswered. I signed up for lyft today and used it for the first time. The driver was GREAT! She picked me up from the mechanic and took me home with no problems. But when i tried to schedule a return ride to pick up my car from the auto shop a few hours later, my account was disabled. It took an hour trying to navigate through the lyft support steps because they dont work. It was an endless loop replete with phone numbers that led to nowhere and twitter replies telling me to do what had already failed several times before. I was never able to reach anyone by phone and no one could help me via social media. As a result i could not schedule a ride and had to leave my car in the shop over the mothers day weekend. The rental car companies were closed by then so i was stuck. Never using lyft again. read more

The problem with lyft is not it's drivers it's the system. DO NOT RIDE WITH LYFT. They take unnecessary amounts of money out of your account IN ADDITION to the cost of your actual ride and when you call them to disput the charges they tell you it will be 3-5 days until the money is back on your card. I ordered a Lyft yesterday returning from a business trip. The was a change in procedure I wasn't aware of pertaining to how riders and drivers were to connect. When I questioned the lyft driver about it, he became extremely rude and hostile. I said I wasn't comfortable riding with him and said I'd find another driver. Before I could even get out of the back seat, he drove off with my bag still in his car. I immediately tried calling lyft and found out there is no way to actually speak with someone. In all cases, you have to send emails. It's their only way to correspond with customers. In my case, the rude driver was still in the area. All lyft had to do was call him and have him drop my bag back at the airport so I could retrieve it but it seems that's too easy. I finally found a link for emergency calls which I accessed. I received a call from lyft, I explained the situation and asked to call the driver. I was told it was not their policy to call their drivers. What??? I had to file a list and found claim even though my bag was never lost. It's now been almost 24 hours and I still don't have my bag. It seems it might take as much as 3 more days to get it. Thus whole situation could've been resolved in minutes had lyft cared about their customer. I stopped using uber given all their PR issues but I think I'm going back. read more

very bad experience. I have been taxi driving for a long time but as we all know taxi are going extinct. I signed up with the promise of bonus. Had a negative experience with female passenger not going to get into it but I will say I did not raise my voice or swear but she was unhappy and screamed at me gave me one star. It happens not gonna get too into it or worry about it. Next day I get a warning from Lyft. I respond and request a phone call to verbalize my side of story. Never get a phone call. A week goes by and I put it behind me thinking its not a big deal. My driver rating starts improving. Then I get an email saying my account is deactivated. Again I ask for a phone call. No call. Lyft fired me! Gave me just one warning and I do thinking my upcoming bonus was part of the reason! Very annoyed and cant contact anyone. Uber and Lyft are tough all it takes is one bad apple to lower your rating and you are on probation. I noticed once your rating goes down others are also more likely to find flaws. I dont provide water but I know others that do! Kind of crazy because this job pays maybe 15/hour but in reality its less if you work 40 hours and cant only work the peak hours. Factor in wear on your car and the pay is very bad. I want them to get shut down. I want to walk outside and get a cab like the old days. I knows these apps are convenient I do get it but I promise the old days were better. Unlimited cabs is not a good thing. There is a reason cities once limited the number of taxis. read more
