I used Lyft tonight for the first time and I am in love! I opted, instead of parking at the Target Center, to park a mile away, use the Lyft App, and be dropped off at the Front Door of the Target Center. Yep!! At my age, comfort and convenience is numero Uno! I barely had shut my car off and my driver from Lyft was behind me. Wow! Never have I had a taxi arrive that quickly! He was super nice and the ride cost $7.50 but I had a $10 promo for being a new customer so it cost nothing but tip! Whoo Hoo! After the game, we actually had the same driver, and he safely dropped us back at our car! It was super congested after the game, so I would have had a hard time finding him but he waved his arms and yelled at us so we ran across the street to his warm, cozy, car! The app is super easy to use, you can see which driver is on their way, and actually watch their car driving to pick you up!! Super Kool!!! One thing to remember is to drop the pin on the map exactly where you are so your ride comes as near to you as possible. Try Lyft! You more than likely will fall in love like I did! read more

Alright Lyft... I've been a repeat customer since the launch party in February 2014 at Public Functionary in NE MPLS, and regardless of this review I will continue to use Lyft because I think it's a great service. Up until Halloween I had no complaints and was a completely satisfied customer. Always nice vehicles, friendly drivers, affordable rates and prompt pickup. So why the 2 stars? Well it has to do with the deceptive pricing and the mark ups for different times of the day depending on how busy it is. I've read the Terms and checked the pricing estimates, I get it, in order up get people driving at peak times you have to charge more. But, it's deceiving and Lyft can essentially charge you as much as they want, the ride that upset me was a 150% mark up! Now, to be fair they do notify you of price increases prior to accepting the ride through the App, so technically their covered from a disclaimer point of view... But there is no price just an increased percentage warning, and there isn't a price for any other ride during any other time of day either. It's not until the charge comes through that you notice 7 miles just cost you $65, that's frustrating:( After contacting Lyft customer support I was pretty dissatisfied, it reminded me of dealing with an airline customer service department, less than helpful and directing me to the website that I already reviewed. All I would suggest is a more upfront pricing strategy so riders can be more prepared for the cost, especially for the Plus, Prime or Premium pricing times. read more

I'm a driver. In 2014, I would have rated 4 stars. But that's all changed. In any other city, you can drive for Lyft with a vehicle that is 2000 or newer. Except in the Twin Cities where they recently changed the rules to state that a vehicle cannot be more than 10 years old. So now it's 2005. Next year 2006. Etcetera. Effectively strong arming drivers into investing $10,000 to $30,0000 every 1-10 years. I have a very nice 2004 and suddenly, without warning, find myself without a job. There are many newer cars worse than mine in terms of condition and appearance. The Twin Cities is already one of the lowest paying markets. They advertise $25 per hour across the country, but once you become a driver their Driver App reveals that you'll only make an average of $15 per hour in the Twin Cities, before accounting for gas. Placing strict regulations on one of the lowest paying markets effectively makes Lyft in MN no longer a viable form of income. Half of the drivers were already driving cars older than 2005 and now all those drivers had their accounts "frozen" and would have to pay $10,000+ to drive again. It would take a long time to work that off at $15 per hour, minus the recurring cost of gas and tires. read more

I have used Lyft several times. It's reliable, on time transportation with comfortable clean cars and the drivers have all been careful and very personable. Knowing my fare in advance and including my tip using my Apple Pay makes Lyft very convenient. When do we have real Paper money anymore. Short notice, for doctor appointments when driving yourself home is not allowed works fine for leaving my car at home and not left exposed overnight away. My son is saved the trip of getting me to these. He just has to come carry his Mama back home afterwards. I am so sick of lyft and Uber rideshares. These companies have shitty rules. On more than one occasion I've set out late night for hours waiting for cars that claim to be on the way but after 10 minutes telling me another driver's on the way, waiting 20 minutes then telling me another driver's on the way, this can go on for hours. What makes me so sick of these companies is the thought of my or someone else's child trying to get home late night and have to wait for these assholes who switch to pick up bigger clients instead of one person? Our first experience with Lyft was this Sunday. The App : I requested for a lift from the MSP airport (which the app did not recognize in landmark terms but the address was right). I had to call our driver once the app showed me he had accepted the request, from within the app itself(convenient) and let him know where in the arrivals curbside we would be. He arrived as indicated on the app within six minutes. The driection the app kept giving our driver was sadly wrong. Having lived in the cities for over two decades and for all of that time in the south suburbs, we know only two good ways to get there via the freeway from the airport, for a free flowing experience. The app kept asking our driver to re-route constantly until he realized it was misguiding him and he shut the volume off on his navigation. The Driver : Articulate, courteous, affable, pleasant and a conversationalist. Turns out he is an engineer with a tech company during the day and was trying this out and we were his second ride. Clearly he takes to the task like fish to water. Two resounding thumbs up to him!!!!! The Price: Lyft did a good job of what to expect the price would be(their calculator is pretty decent). No surprises there and I was happy with their recommended 'donation'(they dont have a fixed fare yet for the suburbs) and added a tip for our driver. Overall three and a half stars. Would like to try now during rush hour and reverse direction i.e from the suburbs to the airport or to one of the Downtowns. Their 9am - 9pm service is a bit disappointing. If you are competing against the Ubers of the world, you'd better be available more. read more

Wow I found out something about Lyft they cheat. So Lyft I was told is cheaper than Uber. My ride one morning costed 23.00 for an 11 mile trip. I look at the ride receipt he soys he drove me 26 miles. Wow so basically they add on miles that aren't there so they can charge you more for the ride. Yes I admit taxi service is expensive but I didn't realize that companies cheat this much. At least most the drivers are friendly for the most part. read more

Back to UBER after my first experience with Lyft. Problems/issues I experienced: (1) when ordering a ride, the app does not indicate wait time prior to ordering the ride....a gamble. Wait time is given once the ride is ordered, which takes me to the next issue. (2) Double, at a minimum the wait time. I'm told 14 mins wait. I try to immediately cancel because the wait is too long. Nope, if cancel I will be charged. So I wait....and wait. Then, while watching the map and the driver, I see him approach and then continue past the airport. Now the wait time is updated to an additional 15 mins. (3) I text and wait. I call. No response to either. (4) After a 30 min wait and approaching midnight, the driver arrives. He explains Lyft will put you in a queue while the driver has another passenger. So you wait while that rider is dropped and the driver travels for your pick up. Never again. (5) Try using HELP on the Lyft app. Good luck. read more

First time using Lyft, we needed a ride to Sea-Tac airport. My fiancee arranged for the ride a day in advance. The ride never showed up, nor was there any indication a driver was on their way, so we ordered another ride. This time, the driver showed up, promptly, and we made it to our flight on time. Everything seemed okay. Then, later that night, my fiancee gets a threatening message on her personal phone from a driver we never met, who claims we stiffed him. According to the app, this guy showed up 5 minutes after the driver who got us...and was late. To other Lyft riders in the Seattle/Tacoma area, please be wary of a driver named Ryan, who threatened us over what was obviously a misunderstanding that this d-bag took very personally. Ryan--assuming that's his real name--is a 40-50 something greasy looking hipster with a bird's nest beard, according to his mug shot. Avoid him like the plague. read more

I would give no stars if possible. I have a huge grievance against one of your drivers here in Minneapolis Minnesota. The problem is I can't find out how to access who I have had as a driver since I have been here. I have taken lyft a bunch this week since I was just introduced to it but will now go back to using Taxi's as they are way more reliable and honest. They actually pick you up when they say they will, they actually show up to the correct address, they don't charge you once you've cancelled them twice because you couldn't handle their ignorance for not being able to find the correct address within the estimated time causing unforeseen delay that made us miss half of the events that we had come to Minneapolis to see. We had some great rides with you guys, I always gave 5 stars with $5 tip even if the ride only cost $7.50. There was one that charged me $7.50 on 11/28/14 between 6 and 8 pm and he never showed up and we tried cancelling him twice because we could not wait any longer despite his estimate of 5 minutes---more like 35 minutes of waiting outside in the freezing cold because he says hes here and hes not! I was at first honestly excited about using this app but now cant wait to delete it because I doubt this sleazy company will refund my $7.50, I read your sneaky terms and conditions (I'm in law school) and I know you are trying to release yourself from negligent liability. Don't use lyft, they employ crazy people who cut you off, swerve between 2 lanes because they don't want to be passed, yelling signaling me to pull over to fight me. (I am a 5ft female weighing about 100lbs) & my 4 year old daughter was in the car. They drove a silver malibue with a lyft sticker, I didn't get the full license plate but it starts with 469 - & ends with either 382 or Jbz. I took a photo of the car but can't make out the second part of the plate. But moral of the story is call Uber, if you call lyft you might get picked up by a Psycho who doesn't know how to control themselves, has mega road rage and has zero care that you have a young child in the vehicle with you while they're driving like a maniac. This took place October 10th around 12:20pm in coon rapids mn. Lyft should really start screening their drivers for road rage. If something had happened to my baby lyft would no longer exist & I would make sure of it. You're supposed to be getting people to & from where they need to go safely, so why are you out here driving like a crazy person with ZERO regard to the safety of those around you? Ordered a Lyft and car came within 5 minutes. I was taking my dog to Village Animal Hospital and my dog was in a crate. I told the driver the address and told him to wait for me while I was in Village Animal Hospital for 5 minutes and I would need a return ride home. The driver said okay. Then all of sudden he tells me he has another ride to take!!! My ride was not over as far as I was concerned I was paying for wait time and then a ride back home. He said he had to leave and just left me there!!!! What kind of taxi service would won't complete a ride and then leave? The Animal Hospital did not have wifi for guests, so I was unable to get a ride back with Lyft. What type of taxi service will not accommodate a wait when it is paid wait time?? Took me 4 minutes in Vet Clinic and I had to telephone another company to pick me up and wait another half an hour. Are you not allowed have a stop and continue a ride with Lyft?????? I use Lyft rideshare service in Saint Paul mn every week, sometimes several times because I do not have a car myself and I have lung issues all winter. Lyft has been a lifesaver. I ride alone and I have NEVER had an issue with a driver being predatory or weird, they are nice and they get me to where I need to go. The only times I have ever had issue finding a car through Lyft is at between 6 and 7:30 AM in Highland St Paul. For whatever reason NO drivers around then and I have a standing appt in Mpls every Tuesday morn. That is a lengthy ride and drivers are forever telling me they can't make money because of shorter rides. Yet no one took my longer ride asked for, 3 weeks in a row now. You also need more drivers during snow. I know people say all kind of bad things abt Lyft and Uber but don't believe all the hype. They will show up and they will be safe if you use the APP to order it. They give you the drivers photo and info, car model and color and plate number. There is no need for all this nonsense with fear and being messed with! Order the ride via the app. You don't hail a Lyft on the streets, that's how problems arise. Car comes within 15 min every time. I have only had one bad driver in over a year 1/2 riding. Also, I think the rating system is unfair to the drivers. Customers should be able to complain if a problem happens, but customer should NOT be allowed to blindly rate people and get them fired over petty things. Do not rate drivers under 5 stars unless they are absolutely horrible and actually deserved it, please. These are people doing a job that is not paying them a ton, and I am glad they are out there helping the community not have to hail unreliable, late, rude taxis all the time. Lyft is superior in most ways! I appreciate the drivers and the company. I wish they would get a phone contact customer service number that is immediately available though. They do answer e mail complaints or issues, yes, and any issue has been promptly resolved, for me anyhow, but a phone number also, well it is a must for a business to operate smoothly. Besides that, the card have all been clean and like new. I have never had an issue with an unsafe driver. I even had one take me home in a snowstorm when stranded someplace once, and that driver got me home. The company takes a % of what you pay from drivers, they don't earn as much as people think, and they pay their own repairs. Omg....ordered lyft driver...never used service before...my ride to work takes 15 minutes I ordered lyft to arrive 30 to 45 minutes before work. The driver Jennifer driving Red ford edge was 50 minutes late...I had texted her early telling her what street to turn on. She caled and said she was going to back up and go a different route...so another 5 minutes passed and she was getting further away. I called her and told her if she would just get to major road near me she could turn on my street. She didn't even know where she was...said her GPS wasn't working all of a sudden and then said she was just going to cancel ride. We booked our ride in advance to take us to the airport at 3 am. The driver was supposed to pick up us between 3am to 3:15 am. The driver finally showed up around 3:30 am. When he showed up, he would not pull up to our house but sat down the road about 40 feet. We were all waving our hands at the end of our driveway so he would pull up to us. He did not move so I grabbed my luggage to walk to his car. As I walked up, he pulled ahead and drove past me plus my family. He did not stop. We did not know what he was doing so we waited to see if he was turning around. He did not come back. I watched him on the app and he continued on his route to the airport. I should mention I contacted him several times including before he arrived to our house and also after he drove by us. Given we no longer had a ride to the airport, we had to scramble to our car and get to the airport. I continued to watch the driver on the app and he went to the airport as he said he picked us up. We were then charged for our ride! I contacted Lyft and told them about the experience we had and we barely made our flight by 15 minutes. They said they would be happy to credit my fare for the Lyft ride! I could not believe it. The whole fiasco cost me an additional $120 because this driver was irresponsible and Lyft took no responsibility for it. read more

The money you would make here is about the same as delivering pizza; minimum wage. They say you will earn $15-$25 per hour, but once you take mileage off, you will be at minimum wage with a bunch of miles on your car to boot. I recently decided to experience being a driver while on disability at work. My mentor contacted me immediately and met me in my neighborhood. He explained the whole on-boarding process and had a nice organized email with links. He inspected my car, took pictures, looked at my insurance, and license etc. Everything passed. At the end, he explained I had to spend $20+ on a vehicle inspection at a local shop, but not until I was approved. This company sends you an ENORMOUS amount of text messages and codes you have to use to log into the Lyft app. You spend a lot of time reading and deleting texts. Meanwhile, their app did not work on my tablet, so I went out and spent $269 for a new tablet. Once approved, I went to Meineke for my vehicle inspection. They found a bunch of things wrong with my car like "seeping" fluid on an oxygen sensor. Seeping is not a leak, nor is it a safety issue. 90% of cars on the road have a seep somewhere. For example; most valve covers seep because the gaskets are made of cork. In addition, my car does not use any fluid. My garage floor is also perfectly clean. They also dinged me for "discolored" transmission fluid. Seriously? Every fluid in a car gets discolored immediately after it is replaced. Have you ever looked at your oil a couple days after a fresh oil change? This is because all the old fluid can't be completely removed. In addition to discolored fluid NOT being a safety issue, my transmission fluid is not due for replacement for 47,000 miles (manufacturer recommendation). I have actually tried to get mechanics to change it and they advise me not to. My car did not pass their inspection. I am very uptight about my car. I spend a lot of money on it and also do a lot of things on it myself at home. I take better care of my car than the average person. I am not going to spend hundreds of dollars fixing un-needed things and get my engine detailed just to pass an inspection that will allow me to make minimum wage. read more
