They came out, surveyed the site, and gave me a price which was very reasonable (and less than the local SF Peninsula companies). They were ready to start work the next day but I wasn't available so scheduled them for the following week. They came at 7:30 AM to set up, and waited until 8AM to start work (at our request - due to local noise ordanances). They were very professional, took down the trees over 2 days, no damage or misshaps at all. They brought a truck and a mulcher to remove all the branches/trunks. Cleaned up at the end of both days, left our driveway spotless! Sent out two guys to grind the stumps over the weekend, and they did a good job, but didn't remove the chips. But the first team came back early the next week, hauled off the chips, and did a final cleanup. The price I payed was what was negotiated before they started, no hassles or questions, and the accepted my personal check as payment. To be honest I was a bit nervous at first because they didn't do a formal quote on paper, just told me the price. But I emailed the forman the same day he gave me the estimate and repeated the verbal terms he told me, he agreed via email that was what was decided on, and he was good to his word. No issues or questions about the price or what they would do. I'm glad I used R&B, they did good work, exactly as promised, at half the cost and much sooner then the local companies I had also gotten estimates from.

Within months of the pruning, the trees developed significant branch dieback and multiple cankers. When we contacted the company, instead of standing behind their work, they wanted to charge us additional money to come back and address the problem. We're now having to hire another tree company to evaluate whether the trees can even be saved. Whether the issue was poor timing, pruning practices, or something else, we relied on their professional judgment, and we're extremely disappointed that they have not taken responsibility or offered to make things right. To make matters worse, during the work in our backyard they broke our fence board. No one mentioned it, apologized, or attempted to repair it--we discovered the damage ourselves afterward. Mistakes can happen. What separates a great company from an average one is how they respond when something goes wrong. Unfortunately, our experience was that they didn't stand behind their work, didn't communicate openly about property damage, and instead tried to sell us additional services to address problems that arose after their pruning. Acorn is a team of experts who know what they're doing, will listen to what we are looking for and make suggestions that will be beneficial, and generally use zero power tools to do their work. Then on trimming day, you have to re-explain the entire job to his nephew who ran the crew. While the crew did a decent job trimming trees and bushes in my back yard, the crew definitely did not follow instructions for the front yard crape myrtle tree trim job. That tree had a beautifully round tree canopy, and now it is a lopsided mess. Martin came to inspect after and collect the cash payment, and agreed it needed further shaping but the crew had already left. I got one scheduled date after another with one excuse after another from Martin about needing to keep rescheduling the fix job. He is not now answering my calls or texts. This company does not care about the quality of their work or honoring their commitment to their customers. If you value your landscape, choose another tree trimming company, not this one.

They protected the nearby artificial turf and brick boarder with plywood while working. I had the stump ground and the brick was within a foot of the trunk.
